용융탄산염형 연료전지 분리판 재료의 부식거동

  • 새로운 에너지원으로 각광받고 있는 연료전지는 우주선 동력윈으로서의 이용이래, 보다 실용적인 발전 시스템을 목적으로 많은 연구개발이 시도되고 있다. 이러한 연료전지는 사용하는 전해질의 특성으로 인하여 저온형($<300^{\circ}C$) 과 고온형($500^{\circ}C<$)으로 구분된 수 있는데, 저온형 연료전지의 경우는 전극반응 특성상 귀금속 촉매가 필요한 데 비해, 고온형 연료전지는 이러한 귀금속 촉매가 필요없다는 점등에서 다양한 장점을 가지게 된다. 즉, 저온형에 비해 다양한 연료가 가능하고, 대형화에 유리함며, 고온 페열을 이용할 수 있는 점 등을 들 수 있다. 용융탄산염형 연료전지(MFCFC)는 이러한 고온형 연료진지의 장점을 배경으로 현재 대규모의 개발이 진행되고 있다. 그러나 여기에 주로 사용되는 Li-K, Li-Na와 같은 용융탄신엽은 고부식성 전해질로서 대부분의 금속이 산화물을 형성하는 것으로 알려져 있다. MCFC의 분리판은 셀간을 전기적으로 이어주는 역할, 가스의 유로제공 및 가스 Sealing의 역할을 담당하는 부분으로서, 분리판의 부식은 이러한 특성의 저하 및 전해질의 소모를 유발시켜 MCFC의 내구성에 커다란 영향 을 미치는 요인으로 생각되고 있다. 이러한 배경으로부터 Uchida 그룹은 MCFC의 분라판 재료 의 부식거동을 계동적으로 검토하였다. 먼저 Fe에 Ni 과 Cr을 첨가한 재료를 산화성가스 분위기하에서 $(Li+K)CO_3$에 대하여 검토한 결과, Ni과 Cr 둘다 20wt%이상 첨가시, 내식성융 가지는 결 과를 보고하였다2) 이 경우 보호피막으로서 NiO 와 $LiCrO_2$가 작용하는데, $LiCrO_2$가 용융탄산염 중에서 보다 안정한 것으로 부터, Cr의 첨가가 내식성에 기여하는 것으로 판단하였다. 다음 단계 로서 Fe/Cr재료에 용-융탄산염 중에서 안정한 산화물을 형성하는 Al의 첨가효과를 검토하였다. Al의 첨가는 더욱 내식성을 향상시키는 것이 발견되었고, 약 4wt%의 첨가로 충분한 내식성을 가지 는 것을 보고 하였다. 그러나 이러한 안정한 산화물에 의한 내식성 향상은 전기진도도의 희생을 바탕으로 한 것으로서, 다읍 단계로서 Ti산화물의 반도체적인 특성을 이용하고자 제 4의 원소로서 Ti첨가를 시도하였다. 그러나 Fe/Cr/AVTi재료가 뛰어난 내식성을 가지는 것은 관찰되었으나, 전도도 향상에는 기여하지 못하는 것이 보고되었다. 현재 MCFC는 실용화를 위한 고성능화의 하나로서 가압하에서의 운전을 시도하고 있다. 이 러한 가압하에서의 운전은 기전력의 향상 및 전극반응의 촉진 등으로 출력의 향상을 가져오나. 현재 문제로 되고 있는 Cathode극인 NiO의 용해/석출 현상을 가속화하는 결과를 초래해, 이에대 한 대책으로서 Li-K보다 NiO의 용해가 적은 Li-Na탄산염으로의 전환이 진행되고 있다. 이러한 배경으로부터 Uchida그룹에서 개발한 FeiCr/AVTi재료와 현재 분리판 재료로 사용증인 SUS 310, S SUS 316재료에 대해. 산화성 분위기의 5기압까지의 가압하에서, Li-K, Li-Na탄산염에 대하여 부 식거동을 검토한 결과, 가압하에서 내식성이 향상되는 것이 발견되었다. 이유로서는 가압하에서 용융탄산엽의 증가된 산화력으로 보다 치밀한 내식성 산화물 피막이 형성되기 때문으로 생각되고 있다. 또한 Li-K, Li-Na탄산염에서의 부식의 정도에는 차이가 거의 없었으나, SUS 316의 경우 탄산염에 젖은 부분에서 내식성 피막이 형성되지 않는 이상부식현상이 관찰되었다. 재료간의 내식성 정도에서는 Fe/Cr/Al/Ti이 가장 내식성이 뛰어났으며, SUS 310 또한 뛰어난 내식성을 보였다.

Change of Antioxidant Activity and Quality Characteristics of Gaeseong-Juak Prepared with Prunus yedoensis Matsumura Extract during the Storage Period (화피 추출물 첨가 개성주악의 저장과정 중 항산화 활성 및 품질특성 변화)

  • This study investigated the quality characteristics, oxidative stability, and antioxidative activity of a Korean fried rice cake, Gaeseong-Juak (doughnut of waxy rice) to which Prunus yedoensis Matsumura (PYM) extract, vitamin C, and BHT were added and stored at $60^{\circ}C$ for 4 days. Gaeseong-Juak was prepared by adding PYM extract at 0, 0.5, 1, and 2% of waxy rice powder. It was found that as the content of PYM extract increased, L-values significantly decreased while a-value and b-value significantly increased (P<0.001). The hardness and adhesiveness were increased with an increase in PYM extract, and as the storage period increased. In the sensory evaluations, the sample containing 0.5% and 1.0% PYM extract gave good scores. In the Gaeseong-Juak with PYM extract, the acid value, peroxide value, and p-anisidin value of PYM extract groups were found to have a higher oxidative stability than those of 0% PYM extract group (P<0.05). The antioxidative activity of Gaeseong-Juak to which PYM extract was added increased as the content of PYM extract increased (P<0.001). It was suggested that the shelf life of Gaeseong-Juak could be extended by the use of natural antioxidants, reducing the deterioration of the quality of Gaeseong-Juak.

Effect of Cu Addition in Cu/Fe/Zr-Mixed Metal Oxide Mediums for Two-step Thermochemical Methane Reforming (2단계 열화학 메탄 개질을 위한 Cu/Fe/Zr-혼합 산화물 매체 내 Cu 첨가 효과)

  • thermochemical methane reforming consisting of two steps on Cu/Fe/Zr mixed oxide media was carried out using a fixed bed infrared reactor. In the first step, the metal oxide was reduced with methane to produce CO, $H_2$ and the reduced metal oxide in the temperature of 1173 K. In the second step, the reduced metal oxide was re-oxidized with steam to produce $H_2$ and the metal oxide in the temperature of 973 K. The reaction characteristics on the added amounts of Cu in Cu/Fe/Zr mixed oxide media and the cyclic tests were evaluated. With the increase of the added amount of Cu in Cu/Fe/Zr mixed oxide media, the conversion of $CH_4$, the selectivity of $CO_2$ and the $H_2/CO$ molar ratio were increased, while the selectivity of CO was decreased in the first step. On the other hand, the evolved amount of $H_2$ was decreased with increasing the added amount of Cu in the second step. The $Cu_xFe_{3-x}O_4/ZrO_2$ medium added with Cu of x = 0.7 showed good regeneration properties in the 10th cyclic tests indicating that the medium had high durability. In addition, the gasification of the deposited carbon in the water splitting step was promoted with the addition of Cu in the media.

Kinetics of Oxidation, and Effects of TiC on Oxidation Resistance in MgO-Carbon Refractory (MgO-Carbon 내화물의 산화반응기구와 TiC첨가에 의한 산화방지 효과)

  • The kinetics of oxidation and disappearance of graphite in MgO-C refractories containing TiC were, in the temperature range from 1000 to 1200$^{\circ}C$, investigated to enhance the oxdation resistance of MgO-C refractproes. The air was blown into the furnace at flow rate of 0.2 litters per minute, and then weight decrease was measured with a thermo balance at 30 seconds intervals until the value of weight became unchanged. The value of effective diffusion coefficient (De) for the specimen of MgO-C was 1.39${\times}$10$\^$-4/ ㎡/sec. The diffusion of oxygen through decarburized layer was the rate deforming step in the overall oxidation process under present experimental conditions. The TiC additions enhanced the oxidation resistance of the MgO-C refractories.

Responses of SnO2-based Sensors for Oxidizing Gases (산화성 가스에 대한 SnO2모물질 가스센서의 감지특성)

  • The effects of additives in n-type semiconducting SnO$_2$-based gas sensors on oxidizing gases were investigated. The resistivity of SnO$_2$ sensors decreased when exposed to reducing gases, which act as electronic donors. However, the resistivities of the SnO$_2$ sensors increased when exposed to oxidizing gases, which act as electronic accepters. The products formed from the reaction of oxidizing gases ever SnO$_2$-based powders were analyzed by gas chromatography as compared with those formed from the reaction of reducing gases of alcohols. The SnO$_2$ sensors doped with PdCl$_2$ or A1$_2$O$_3$ showed unique dual response patterns toward oxidizing gases of $CH_3$CN and $CH_3$NO$_2$ depending on the operating temperature. The combination of these two sensors along with proper pattern recognition technique could enhance the selectivity for the gases with electron-accepting groups.

A study on the Property of Oxidation Stability in Biodiesel by the Additives (첨가제에 따른 바이오디젤 산화안정 특성 연구)

  • Some materials of fatty acids in the biodiesel affect the physical/chemical properties like density, kinematic viscosity, total acid number and oxidation stability by forming an organic fatty acid in combination with oxygen in the air. To solve the problem of the oxidative stability of biodiesel, various kinds of antioxidant has added and analyze the characteristics of the physical/chemical property changes by the addition of antioxidant. Oxidation stability increased by the increase of additives content. The TBHQ among the seven kinds of the additives showed the best performance. Also, 4 kinds of additives like propyl gallate, butyl-amine and pyrogallo has showed above 10 hr of oxidation stability at the addition of 500 ppm. In case of pyrogallo, this is not appropriate as an additive to suitable quality standards of total acid number. TBHA, DTBHQ of hydroquinone was satisfied with the quality standard of oxidation stability but the target of this research(above 10 hr) did not satisfied with oxidation stability. Propyl gallate is also a suitable at the quality standards of total acid number but it was shown not to be an appropriate to the additives due to increasing the total acid number by increasing of the content of additives at the addition of 500 ppm.

  • Dependence of graphitic structure on oxidation of carbon materials was discussed using furan resin-derived carbon with inorganic compounds such as SiC and TiO2 Oxidation of carbon was governed by active site. I. e surface area regardless of the degree of graphitization. When oxidation was considered for not unit weight but unit area graphitization was important factor for oxidation so that the degree of graphitization increased the oxidation rate was delayed. Graphite (tiO2 addition) and turbostratic graphite(SiC addition) were oxidized through the same mechanism. In carbon materials with different structure components more than 2 oxidation of each component was different and amorphous component without the influence of additives on the surface was selectively oxidized in the intial oxidation stage.

  • Oxidative stabilities of fat in DHA(cis-4,7,10,13,16,19-docosahexaenoic acid)-added dry milk and ordinary dry milk during storage were studied by determining thiobarbituric acid values of samples. Two kinds of milk powder samples were purchased in the local supermarket and $2{\pm}0.05\;g$ of samples were transferred into serum bottles, which were stored under the light or under dark The oxidation of fat in DHA-added milk powder was higher than that of fat in ordinary milk powder and the acceleration was more evident in the presence of light Light and unsaturated fats accelerated synergistically oxidation of milk fat Addition of DABCO(diazabicyclooctane), which is an efficient singlet oxygen quencher, significantly decreased the photooxidation of milk fat This result clearly suggested that singlet oxygen oxidation (Type II reaction) was involved in the system. Deceleration of milk fat oxidation by DABCO was higher in the DHA-added milk powder.

Relative Effectiveness of Some Antioxidants on Storage Stability of Instant Noodle(Ramyon) Fried by Palm Oil and Beef Tallow (팜유와 우지로 제조한 라면의 저장 안정성에 대한 산화방지제 효과의 비교)

  • Storage stabilities of ramyons fried in palm oil and beef tallow with added antioxidants and their synergists were investigated by comparing the changes in physicochemical parameters and n-hexanal concentrations of oils extracted from ramyons during storage. Ramyons fried in palm oil and beef tallow with added ${\delta}-tocopherol$ $({\delta}-toc)$ showed an enhanced storage stabilities when compared to those fried in the oils with ${\alpha}-tocopherol$ $({\alpha}-toc)$. Ascorbyl palmitate was found to be a better synergist than citric acid for the antioxidant activity of both ${\delta}-toc\;and\;{\alpha}-toc$. Phenolic antioxidants gave a better storage stability than tocopherol when ramyon was fried in beef tallow, while a mixture of BHA and BHT gave an inferior storage stability than${\alpha}-toc$ when ramyon was fried in palm oil. The effectiveness of the antioxidants tested on storage stability of stored ramyon had a close relationship to the n-hexanal concentration. On the other hand, the paramenters such as peroxide value, carbonly value, and conjugated diene concentration showed inconsistency during the course of the storage experiment.

Heat and Crack Resistance of Natural Rubber(NR) Compounds According to the Type of Antioxidants (산화방지제 종류에 따른 천연고무 배합물의 내열성 및 내크랙성)

  • In this study, heat and crack resistance of natural rubber (NR) compounds was evaluated. To prevent the effects of the crosslinking system, a conventional vulcanization system was selected, where the accelerator/sulfur ratio was fixed to 0.25. Vulcanizates containing phenylenediamine showed high tensile strength and tear strength compared to other vulcanizates because phenylenediamine can cause additional crosslinking and high dispersion In the vulcanizates. In the pure shear test, vulcanizates containing phenylenediamine showed an excellent tearing energy which was due to the irregular crack path, and showed excellent heat and crack resistance which was also due to the good dispersity of antioxidant and additional crosslinks in the rubbber vulcanizates.
