Preparation and Characterization of Photocatalytic Paper for VOCs Adsorption and Oxidation Decomposition (VOC흡착 및 산화분해 특성을 갖는 광촉매종이의 제조 및 특성 평가)

  • Highly durable photocatalytic paper containing anatase $TiO_{2}$, active carbon and ceramic fiber, which can adsorb VOCs and decompose them by photo oxidation simultaneously, was manufactured and characterized. Optimum concentration of PDADMAC to let $TiO_{2}$ adhere on the surfaces of active carbon and ceramic fiber selectively was $10\~15$ ppm in a slurry mixture for making photocatalytic paper. The thickness and basis weight of the produced catalytic paper by paper-making method were 0.4 mm and 380 $g/m^{2}$, respectively. Adsorption reaction by active carbon and photocatalytic decomposition reaction by $TiO_{2}$ were proceeded simultaneously, by which the abatement rate was found to be greatly enhanced compared to the similar environment with single adsorption reaction or single photocatalytic reaction only. The selective attachment of $TiO_{2}$ on ceramic fiber and active carbon was found to be very effective in preventing decomposition of substrate by the $TiO_{2}$ attack during exposure to UV light.

Agronomic Characteristics and Aromatic Compositions of Korean Wild Codonopsis lanceolata Collections Cultivated in Field (한국 야생더덕 수집종의 노지 재배시 생육 특성과 향기성분 조성)

  • The native ecological environment and aromatic constituents of Korean wild Codonopsis lanceolata and one Japanese strain were investigated to find Codonopsis lanceolata strains showing high aromatics, and to know regional differences among these strains. The results were as follows : There were no remarkable differences among the Korean wild C. lanceolata strains in ecological environments. Recovery yield of essential oils was highest in Togyusan strain with 0.009%. Difference in protein band patterns among these strains was not recognized, and peroxidase and esterase pattern changes were appeared in different collected regions at the leaf and root tissues. Major aromatic constituents were 11 kinds of aliphatic alcohols such as trans-2-hexenal, 1-hexanol, cis-3-hexanol, and trans-2-hexanol. And Togyusan strain, Sobaeksan strain, and Kayasan strain have the highest aliphatic alcohols of plant essential oils. In particular, BHT(butylated hydroxytoluene), one of the antioxidants, was detected in Chirisan strains.

  • The archival objects are tangible evidence reflecting public work as forming archives which are administrative, historic, symbolic, cultural and artistic value. They are produced from the various countries so that they have different material and manufacture techniques. However there are difficulties in conservation and management because the material investigation and conservation management system are not established. Therefore this research presents fundamental data for the efficient conservation management by material investigation and condition check metal archival objects. Among the public official presents made of metal, 12 pieces which are discoloration, oxidation, loss or crack are chosen for this research. In order to examine extensive condition of metal archival objects, the condition check card used from the domestic museum and the national museum in Japan are collected and then the new check card is produced. X-ray is used to know the making technique, binding means between different material. Portable-XRF is also used for the chemical composition analysis of metal archival objects, and then classifying respectively according to their material. As a result of condition check, it is possible to investgate the appearance character, deteriorated parts and weak parts of structure. Also P-XRF could find out the composition of metal archival objects which is different from existing condition check card. Therefore the research results can be used as fundamental data for further conservation and management as well as long-term conservation.

Studies on the Recovery of Triglyceride from Used Shortening by Supercritical Fluid Extraction (초임계유체 추출에 의한 폐식용유의 재활용에 대한 기초연구)

  • Supercritical fluid extraction was applied to recycling triglyceride from used shortening. Used shortening and its fractions were analyzed with high performance size exclusion chromatography for their composition in triglycerides, polymer and low molecular weight compounds. Conjugated diene value and color of the fractions were also measured with a UV spectrophotometer and a colorimeter, respectively. Pressure and temperature ranges employed were $15{\sim}30$ MPa and $40{\sim}60^{\circ}C$, respectively. Concentration of fat in supercritical (SC) $CO_2$ ranged from $0.3\;X\;10^{-3}{\sim}7.4\;X10^{-3}(g\;fat/g\;CO_2)$. An exponential relation between concentration of fat in SC $CO_2$ and density was observed. Color of the extracts was light yellow which was very close to that of the fresh shortening. Low molecular weight compounds were preferentially concentrated in the initial fraction, while polymer was extracted in the final fraction. Conjugated diene value of the initial fractions was clearly lower than that of feed. It increased sharply as the polymer content in the fraction became significantly large.

Evaluation of A Removal Process for the Residual Uranium from the Simulated Radwaste Solution by Solvent Extraction with TBP (TBP 용매추출에 의한 잔존 우라늄 제거공정 평가)

  • This study was carried out to find the optimal operating conditions for separation of residual uranium from the simulated radwaste solution containing 19 elements, and to evaluate the validity of the process. The selected process was based on the solvent extraction with TBP(tributyl phosphate). As an extractor, two miniature mixer-settlers with a total of 18 stages were used. Extraction yield of U, Np and Tc was about 99.2%. 32.1%, and 99.9%, respectively. The other elements were coextracted in the range of 1~4%. Extraction yield of U exceeded those of the previous work performed with batch system, which resulted in the low extractability of U (about 80%) according to the coexisting element such as Nd and Fe. It was due to the characteristics of multi-stage extractor. On the other hand, low extractability of Np was caused by various oxidation states in the nitric acid medium. In the case of Tc, its high extractability may be attributed to the complex formation with Zr and U, which is not well proved yet. All elements extracted with TBP were stripped into aqueous phase more than 99% by 0.01M $HNO_3$. From the results, this process has no problem with respect to in the same step was required, because Np was distributed in the raffinate and U product, respectively.

Evaluation of co- and Sequential Separation for Tc, Np and U by a $(TBP-TOA)/n-dodecane-HNO_3$ Extraction System ($(TBP-TOA)/n-dodecane-HNO_3$ 추출 계에 의한 Tc, Np, U의 공추출 및 순차분리 평가)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the co- and sequential separation of Tc, Np and U from the simulated multi-component HLW solution by a TBP (tributyl phosphate)-TOA (tri- octyl amine)/NDD $(n-dodecane)-HNO_3$ extraction system. An optimal condition of (30% TBP-0.5% TOA)/NDD-1 M $HNO_3$ was selected by taking account of a prevention of the 3rd phase and effects of concentration of TBP, TOA and nitric acid on the co-extraction of Tc, Np and U. In that condition, the extraction yields were 81% (Tc), 85% (Np), less than 9% (Am and RE elements), about 8% (Pd), and less than 5% (other elements) so that the system developed for the co-extraction of Tc, Np and U was proved to be available. For that, however, more than 99% of Zr was found to be pre-removed. The co-extracted Tc, Np and U were sequentially separated in order of Tc(stripping agent : 5 M $HNO_3$)${\rightarrow}Np$ by reductive stripping (reductive-stripping agent : 0.1 M AHA)${\rightarrow}U$ (stripping agent : 0.01 M $HNO_3$), and then their separation factors were evaluated. At these conditions, 95% of Tc, 98% of Np and 99% of U could be recovered in each step.

자동차 배출가스 규제 및 대책

  • 1960년초 이래 우리나라는 고도의 경제성장을 이룩하게 되었으며 이러한 경제성장에 따른 산업화 사회의 특징인 공업화 도시화 인구집중 현상은 우리나라에도 심각한 환경오염 문제를 야기시켜 왔다. 또한 같은 기간동안 자동차의 보유대수 역시 급격한 증가를 보여왔던바, 1962년 30,000 대에서 1982년도 자동차 등록대수는 약 640,000대로 증가하게 되었으며 대부분의 자동차가 대 도시에 집중되어 있다. 특히 전체 차량의 40%가 집중되어 있는 서울시의 경우에는 자동차 배 출가스로 인한 대기오염문제가 도시민의 건강과 재산에 많은 피해를 일으키게 되었다. 우리나 라는 선진 외국의 대도시에 비해 자동차의 1일 주행거리가 3배 내지 5배를 더 주행하고 있고 자동차 배출가스 기준의 완화, 노후차량의 증가, 도로율의 불황 및 도로조건의 불비 등은 도시 중심천의 자동차 집중현상과 함께 자동차 배출가스로 인한 대기오염 문제가 보다 더 심각하게 우려되었고, 따라서 자동차 배출가스규제 강화의 필연성이 계속해서 주장되어 왔다. 자동차로 인한 공해문제는 1940년도 후반 미국 남부 California 지방에서 광화학스모그의 발생과 함께 거 론되기 시작하였으나 본격적으로 문제가 제기된 것은 급격한 자동차 증가로 인한 도시민의 건 강피해가 발생하기 시작한 것은 1960년대이다. 처음으로 규제되기 시작한 것은 1965년 미국에서 "자동차 오염방지법"의 제정부터이며 1968년부터 자동차 배출가스에 대한 규제가 시작되었다. 한편 일본은 1973년, 유럽에서는 1975년부터 일산화탄소, 탄화수소, 질소산화물 및 매연에 대한 규제를 시작하게 되었다. 우리나라에서는 "도로운송차량법"에서 도로교통의 안전과 질서유지라는 측면에서 일부 규제하여 오다가 1977년말 "환경보전법"이 제정 공포되면서 1980년 1월 환경정의 발족과 함께 실제로 자동차 배출가스를 규제하게 되었다.발족과 함께 실제로 자동차 배출가스를 규제하게 되었다.을 SUP7H종으로 더욱 향상된 것이 실용 화되고 있다. 아래에서 이에 대한 기계적 특성을 중심으로 검토키로 한다.9%내인 0.07cm 정도였으나 1973년과 1974년의 방축년에는 조차 3개 처리구(3.4-5.18cm)에 필적되는 연평균 4.16cm로 나타났다. 5. 전체 시험구로부터으 연평균 토양유실량은 Sharpsburg 점질양토에 대한 S.C.S 한계허용치 10ton/ha/year 이내로 나타났다. 비처리구에서의 토양유실량은 평균 2.56ton/ha/year로 높게 나타난 반면 3개의 서로 다른 추리구인 비수구, 초생수로구 및 Bromegrass구에서는 각각 0.152, 0.192 및 0.290ton/ha/year로 낮은 결과를 가져왔다. 6. 평균 침전량에 대한 L.S.D. 검정 걸과 전시험구중 비처리구가 고도의 유의차를 나타낸 반면 비수구, 초생수로구 및 Bromegrass 목초구 간에는 아무런 유의차가 인정되지 않았다. 7. 농지보전 처리구인 배수구와 초생수로구는 비처리구에 비해 낮은 침두 유출량과 낮은 토양유실량을 나타내었다.구보다 14% 절감되는 것으로 나타났다.작용하는 것으로 사료된다.된다.정량 분석한 결과이다. 시편의 조성은 33.6 at% U, 66.4 at% O의 결과를 얻었다. 산화물 핵연료의 표면 관찰 및 정량 분석 시험시 시편 표면을 전도성 물질로 증착시키지 않고, Silver Paint 에 시편을 접착하는 방법으로도 만족한 시험 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.째, 회복기 중에 일어나는 입자들의 유입은 자기폭풍의 지속시간을 연장시키는 경향을 보이며 큰 자기폭풍일수록 현저했다. 주상에서 관측된 이러한 특성은 서브스톰 확장기 활동이 자기폭풍의 발달과 밀접한 관계가 있음을 시사한다.se that were all low in two aspects, named "the Nonsignificant group".   • The influence of selenuium deficiency and fish oil on lipid peoxidation status and fatty acid composition of tissues(plasma aorta and liver) was studied. Male Sprague Dawley rats were fed for eight weeks semipurified diets containing 7% corn oil(by weight) or 5, 5% fish oil(MaxEPA) plus 1.5% corn oil with oil with or without selenium status (glutathione peroxidase activity and selenium levels) were significantly lower in the rats given inadequate selenium in plasma aorta (p<0.02 and p<0.001 respectively) gut not that in plasma Selenium supplementation decreased hepatic MDA levels(p<0.02) Increases in the levels of 20:5(n-3) 22:5(n-3), 22:6(n-3) 20:3(n-6) and a decrease in the level of 20:4(n-6) were observed in plasma total lipids and aortic and hepatic phospholipids when fish oil was fed. Though selenium supplementation increased the level of n-3 fatty acids(such as 22:6(n-3)) in plsama and the aorta is overall effect was smaller than the effect of fish oil feeding. These data suggest that selenium may play a significant but minor role in protecting against lipid peroxide-tion even when vitamin E intakes are in excess of current recommendations in both corn oil and fish oil diets.

Using $CuSO_4$ for Preventing Algae Attachment on the Sedimentation Basin of Industrial Water Treatment Plant (공업용수 생산 정수장의 침전지 조류 부착방지를 위한 황산동 투입)

  • Existing states of attached algae in the sedimentation basin was observed during late april to early october, and the attached algae were visible 7 days after of cleaning the trough and the communities of algae became larger with increasing the operation periods. Attached algae community included bluegreen algae (Oscillatoria sp.), diatom (Synedra sp.,) and green algae (Mougeotia sp., Oedogonium sp.) and suspended diatom (Stephanodiscus sp.) as well. Diatom (Cymbella sp., Navicula sp., Synedra sp. and Stephanodiscus sp.), green algae(Mougeotia sp. and Cosmarium sp.) and blue-green algae (Anabaena sp.) were detected in the effluent of sedimentation basin. The chlorophyll-a (chl-a)concentrations of algae community on a square centimeter after 14 and 28 days were distinctively different depended on the copper sulphate treatment. The concentration of chl-a were $4{\mu}g/L/cm^2$ and $19{\mu}g/L/cm^2$ for the copper sulphate treated water and $59{\mu}g/L/cm^2$ and $147{\mu}g/L/cm^2$ for the untreated water. Diatom algae fragments were observed in red-brownish sediments on the bottom of industrial water distribution basin and degraded blue-green and green algae formated organic sediments combined with oxidized iron.

  • Natural safflower oleosomes are small ($1{\sim}3{\mu}m$) spherical shaped "reservoir", inside which the seed stores triglycerides for use as a future energy source. The surface of the oleosome is covered with a high molecular weight ($20{\sim}24$ KDa) oleosin protein which has been demonstrated to have emulsification properties. Traditionally, oleosomes from oil bearing seeds such as safflower were simply crushed to liberate the oil within. Our patented DermaSphere technology allows for the isolation of oleosomes in the intact state. Once isolated, these materials can be used in skin care formulations to deliver the emolliency, occlusivity, and anti-oxidant effects typically associated with safflower oil. However, because of the presence of the emulsifying oleosin protein covering the spherical oil body, oleosomes have self-emulsification property as well as can emulsify other oil phase in typical oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion. The oleosomes can literally serve as the entire non-active portion of the oil phase of a typical skin care product. Most importantly, natural oleosomes can be loaded with other oil-soluble active materials and can therefore be used as delivery systems for improved cosmetic efficacies. Oleosomes can be loaded with various actives, such as fragrances, vitamins, inset repellents, and UV chromophores. The loaded oleosomes can be utilized to either protect the active ingredients within the formulation itself or to allow for control release of those actives over time.
