The main purpose of this study is to explore the factors related to the performance of industry-university cooperation and determine methods for improving activation of industry-university cooperation. The data was collected by questionnaire survey mailed to the participating researcher and university professors which executed the university-industry cooperation projects. We determined cronbach Alpha Coefficient, pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. According to multiple regression analysis, reflect of mutual needs and local industry construction have statistically significant relationships with general satisfaction of university. Knowledge and working ability of industry-university cooperation, activeness of industry-university cooperation activity, Local economy scale and local industry construction have statistically significant relationships with general satisfaction of industry. In relation continuity, activeness of industry-university cooperation activity and information exchange have statistically significant relationships with relation continuity of university. Knowledge and working ability of industry-university cooperation and activeness of industry-university cooperation activity have statistically significant relationships with relation continuity of industry. In outcome utilization, knowledge and working ability of industry-university cooperation, research establishment and apparatus have statistically significant relationships with outcome utlization of university. In conclusion, capability factors, cooperative factors, political factors and external environment factors affected industry-universiry cooperation. Knowledge and working ability of industry-university cooperation will be able to upgrade on general satisfaction, relation continuity and outcome utilization.

This study analyzed the effect of the competency factors (resources and education competency)on the performance of university-industry cooperation by characteristic of universities through multiple regression model using 202 datasets empirically. The input factors variables used in a research model were characteristics of universities (research oriented/education-oriented universities and public/private universities) and competency factors (resource competency and education competency) of university-industry cooperation. The performance factors of university-industry cooperation were composed of the outcomes of intellectual knowledge asset, technology transfer, spin-off and financial profits. The empirical results show that research-oriented universities and public universities produce a uniter performance of university-industry cooperation than education-oriented universities and private universities, respectively and the competency factors of university-industry cooperation such as resource and education competency also have a positive effect on the performance of university-industry cooperation.

In this study, factors necessary for successful industry-university cooperation of SMEs(small and medium-sized enterprises) were identified. The structure of the TOE (Technology, Organization, Environment) framework was considered for a company's industry-university cooperation preparation capacity, and open innovation collaboration and resilience were utilized as a mediating effect between industry-university cooperation preparation capacity and corporate performance. This study verified the model through a structured questionnaire targeting 204 SMEs with industry-university cooperation experience. As a result, it was confirmed that it was important for companies to make diversified efforts by accommodating industry-university cooperation to obtain results from industry-university cooperation.

As Industry-University Cooperation (IUC) has been emphasized for securing national competitiveness in a knowledge-based economy, the South Korean government has promoted related policies, including a financial support program for facilitating IUC activities. This study examines the effects of Leaders in INdustry-university Cooperation (LINC) program, which is one of the government financial support programs for IUC, on the performance of IUC by propensity score matching. The results show that LINC program positively influences the number of technology transfers and the number of faculty that participated in start-ups. The results of this study are expected to provide implications for improving IUC policies and the financial support program.

Although the proposition of universities in national R&D has been soaring up recently in Korea, there is gap between the performances and the social expectations. To meet the gap, there are increasing trial to strengthen the role of Industry-Academic Cooperation(IAC) Foundations supporting university-industry collaboration activities. This study focuses on IAC Foundations and attempts to validate the relation between their roles and IAC performances with a regression analysis and futhermore to analyse the effect of the size of full-time-entities(FTEs). This study proposes positive relations between the IAC related performance and the FTEs in technology commercialization in IAC Foundations. Moreover, we identified that two groups-the below- and above-average groups-show different effects of the roles in IAC on the performance and that in the above-average group, the FTEs in technology commercialization are affecting the performance more than below in above-average group. This study suggests that it is important to allocate role more in technology commercialization than in other ones for enhancing the productivity of IAC performances and staffing by job-sector should be different depending on the size of the industry-academic cooperation foundation.

As the importance of industry-university cooperation continues to increase in a knowledge-based society, the government is implementing various projects related to industry-university cooperation. However, despite the government's support, it has not achieved satisfactory results, and the need for empirical performance analysis to diffuse the results of industry-university cooperation is increasing. In this study, DEA was used to analyze the Industry-University cooperation performance of universities participating in LINC+ program. Efficiency analysis was performed using the CCR model and the BCC model, and the return to scale and causes of inefficiency were analyzed through the scale efficiency analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was found that there were differences in LINC+ performance depending on the region where the university is located and that each university had different goals for inefficiency improvement. The results of this study will contribute to improving the university's operational efficiency and strengthening competitiveness, and are expected to be utilized in the establishment of follow-up program plans for LINC+.

In this paper we investigate relation between participation and satisfaction of industry-university co-program with the view of evaluating performance of industry-university cooperation. The importance rank and satisfaction of university-industry co-programs have statistically positive correlation. In regression model, the number of participating co-programs affects the general satisfaction positively. These results implement that the companies have interest in 'industry-university cooperation forum' in initial stage of industry university cooperation, and take part in 'technology co-development program' and gradually enhance availability of other co-programs.

최근 들어 미국, 유럽, 인도 등과의 FTA체결 등을 통해서 대한민국의 경제시장이 날로 증가해가고 있으며, 이제 해외와의 협력은 우리에게 선택이 아닌 필수가 되어가고 있다. 얼마 전 한 신문에 국내기업과 일본기업의 경쟁력을 비교하는 흥미로운 기사가 소개되었다. 이 신문에서는 국내기업들이 한정된 내수시장을 극복하기 위해 해외로 적극적으로 진출하였기 때문에 우수한 경쟁력을 확보하였으며, 반면 일본기업의 경우 안정된 내수시장이 오히려 해외로 진출할 기회를 가로막아 스스로와 경쟁력을 감퇴시켰다고 분석하였다. 이러한 사례는 우리 대학들에 시사하는 바가 크다. 우리 대학들의 주요한 연구성과라 할 수 있는 논문의 경우 이공계를 보면 대다수의 논문이 이미 해외의 각종 유명 학술지에 게재되고 있다. 특히 우수한 연구성과의 산물이라 할 수 있는 SCI논문의 경우 2008년기준으로 경제규모에 걸맞은 세계 12위에 랭크되어 있다. 또한 특허의 경우 이미 세계 4위의 출원대국이다. 이러한 성과로 인하여 국제공개어에 한글이 채택되는 성과까지 거두고 있는 상황이다. 또한 MB정부가 들어서면서 매년 R&D연구비를 10%이상 증가시킬 계획에 있으며, 이러한 노력을 통해 연구성과물의 수준도 향상되어 SCIENCE, CELL, NATURE등의 저명학술지 게재가 늘고 있는 등 연구성과가 세계적인 수준으로 접근해가고 있다. 반면에 이러한 성과에도 불구하고 아직 대다수 대학들의 글로벌 산학협력은 미비한 수준이다. 교육분야에 대한 글로벌화는 최근 들어 많은 변화가 이루어지고 있지만, 산학협력부분에 대한 글로벌화는 활성화 되지 못한 것이 현실이다. 그러나 앞으로 해외와의 산학협력은 대학과 연구자에게 선택이 아닌 필수가 될 전망이다. 정부에서는 현재 국제협력 분야의 R&D연구비를 급증시키고 있으며, 우리나라의 기업이 해외로 활발하게 진출하는 상황에서 이제 연구수준도 국내가 아닌 해외에서도 인정받을 수 있는 수준을 요구 받고 있다. 이와 같이 급변하는 상황에서 이제 해외와의 산학협력은 대학과 연구자들에게 새로운 도전이며, 경쟁력을 업그레이드 할 수 있는 기회로 다가오고 있다. 이에 최근 한양대학교의 해외와 기술이전, 사업화, 공동연구, R&D센터유치와 관련된 산학협력 사례 소개를 통해 우리나라 대학의 산학협력을 업그레이드하는 방향을 모색해 보고자 한다.

본 연구에서는 산학협력의 관계를 통해 발생하는 장애를 파악하고 이를 극복할 수 있는 요인을 대학행정의 노력과 신뢰에서 찾아본다. 기존 산학협력의 연구에서, 산학간의 관계는 경로의존성에 의해 지속적인 상호작용과 지식의 흡수역량을 키움으로써, 양자간 협력에 대한 누적된 경험과 다양한 채널의 폭을 가진다. 하지만 상호간 인식의 차이와 제도적 장벽과 같은 산학협력의 장애는 필연적으로 발생한다. 이러한 장애를 극복해야만 좀 더 효과적인 성과를 유도하고, 지속적인 산학협력의 관계가 유지될 수 있을 것이다. 연구결과, 대학행정의 노력수준과 산학간의 신뢰가 높을수록 산학협력 장애요인인 상호인식의 차이와 제도적 장벽은 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 산학협력장애를 극복할 수 있는 이 두 가지 요인의 수준을 높이기 위한 산학연관 주체의 관심과 실행 및 제도적 뒷받침이 뒤따라야 할 것이다.

This study attempts to explore the activities and performance of industry-academic cooperation with the perspective of the firm that has not been systematically addressed in the previous research. To do this, a survey of university family companies across the country was conducted to draw factors that influence the competencies of firms and universities on the performance of industry-academic cooperation and to compare differences by region. The main results of the study are as follows. First, it was found that the knowledge and technologies that universities retain and the active participation of companies in the activities of university-academic cooperation were the most important contributors to the corporate achievements in industry-academic cooperation. Second, when divided into the Seoul metropolitan area and non-capital area, it was found that there was a difference in the capabilities and performance of industry-academic cooperation between the two regions. Third, it was found that there were significant differences in the capabilities and performance of industry-academic cooperation in five areas. These findings suggest that industry-academic cooperation projects specialized for each region is necessary to enhance the effectiveness of industry-academic cooperation.
