A Short-Term Longitudinal Investigation of Pre- and Postnatal Depressive Symptoms of Korean Women (산전후 우울 변화 - 성장혼합모형을 이용한 단기종단연구)

  • This study examined whether there are underlying latent classes of growth trajectories of maternal depression in the Korean population. Data from the first phase of the Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC) of the Institute of Child Care and Education (KICCE) were used for this study. The final sample of participants included 1,471 mothers, who completed three interviews: at birth, at one month, and at four months. A two-class model consisting of depression (12.3%) and non-depression (87.7%) was considered the best-fitting solution using Mplus 3.13. The changes in postnatal depression in the Korean population within four weeks after childbirth, which is the period of "postpartum onset", seem to be important. Logistic regression analysis showed that duration of breast-feeding and planned pregnancy effects were significantly associated with trajectory class membership.

  • Dairy cow undergoes major adaptations in glucose and lipid metabolism to meet fetal and mammary nutrient requirements during the periparturient period. These adaptations are characterized by major changes in response to the homeostatic signal of insulin. In response to insulin, fatty acids are mobilized to meet energy demand. And cow develop insulin resistance during the late prepartum period to facilitate glucose sparing for the fetus and mammary gland. Insulin resistance is an important adaptation and may be partly responsible for the large increase in plasma nonesterified fatty acid (NEFA) that occurs prior to parturition and coincides with the characteristic decrease in dry matter intake (DMI). Modulation of insulin resistance by administration of thiazolidinedione (TZD) during the periparturient period, likely through the activation of $PPAR{\gamma}$, has substantial potential to minimize energy and immune-related metabolic disorders, and thus may result in increased productivity and improved health of dairy cows.

Effect of Pre- or Post-harvest Treatment of Calcium-chitosan on Fruit Quality of Hardy Kiwifruit (수확 전후 칼슘-키토산 처리에 따른 다래의 저장성 변화)

  • This study was focused to examine the effects of pre- or post-harvest Ca-chitosan treatment on the shelf-life of 'Daesung' hardy kiwifruit. In the preharvest treatment, Ca-chitosan at 200 mg/L was intensively sprayed to the fruit three times on August 20, 25, and 28 in an order whereas harvested fruits were dipped for 10 sec. at the same concentration of chitosan as the postharvest treatment. Fruits were stored at 17℃ for 9 days and 1℃ for 40 days, respectively. Soluble solid contents, titratable acidity, firmness, respiration rate, and weight loss were examined to configure the qualities of fruits during storage. The changes of fruit quality parameters occurred more rapidly in calcium-chitosan treatment compared to untreated control when fruit were stored at 17℃. Both pre- or post-harvest Ca-chitosan treatment, however, effectively decreases the weight and firmness of fruit stored at 1℃. Fruit respiration rate was also reduced, indicating the increase of shelf-life throughout ripening of the fruit.

키토산 분자량 변화에 따른 수중의 $Pb^{2+}$ 제거 메카니즘에 관한 연구

  • 고압증기멸균을 통해서 변형된 키토산을 FT-IR로 분석해 봤을 때, 기존의 키토산의 형태를 유지하고 있음을 알수가 있었고 분자량을 변화 시킨 키토산을 기존의 키토산과 납 흡착실험을 통해서 제거능 비교해 볼 때 15 min > 30 min > 10 min > 5min > 60 min > 0 min 순으로 나타났다 이로써 시간별로 autoclaving처리하여 분자량을 변화시킨 키토산의 제거율이 높음을 알 수가 있었다. 그 중에서도 15 min 동안 autoclaving처리하는 것이 가장 적당한 것으로 알 수가 있었다. 중금속 제거 전후의 키토산을 SAM과 TEM을 통해서 관찰해 보았다. SAM의 경우 autoclaving처리하지 않은 키토산의 표면보다는 autoclaving처리한 키토산의 표면에 보다 많은 기공이 생겨났음을 알 수 있었으며 그로 인해서 납 중금속이 보다 많이 흡착되어 있음을 알 수가 있었다. TEM의 결과로 봤을 때 높은 고압과 온도에 의해서 키토산 고유의 물결무늬가 사라졌음을 알 수가 있었다. 납 중금속이 내부에는 흡착이 이루어지지 않고 외부에 흡착이 이루어 진 것을 볼 수가 있었다.

Changes in Acid Production, Sensory Properties of Yogurt and Volatile Aroma Compounds during Lactic Fermentation in Milk added with Egg White Powder (난백분말 첨가 우유에서 젖산균의 산생성, 요구르트의 관능성 및 휘발성 향기 성분의 경시적인 변화)

  • Changes in titratable acidity, pH, viable cells, sensory properties and volatile aroma compounds of yogurt during lactic fermentation in milk added with egg white powder (EWP) have been studied. Milk added with 1% or 2% (W/V) of EWP was fermented with Lactobacillus acidophilus for 30 hr. Acidity of milk added with EAT increased gradually during lactic fermentation for 30 hr, pH dropped gradually and number of viable cells increased and reached stationary phase at about 9 hr. Addition of EWP significantly stimulated acid production by lactic acid bacteria and stimulating effect of 2% EWP addition on acid production was slightly higher than that of 1% EWP addition. Sensory evaluation showed that optimum fermentation time of yogurt prepared from milk added with 2% of EWP was about 15 hr. Gas chromatographic analysis showed that the amount of acetone and butanol decreased gradually and that of ethanol increased until 30 hr. Diacetyl and acetoin were first detected after 6hr and 9hr, respectively, and then increased until 30 hr.

  • 미국의 양계산업은 한마디로 해서 산의 정상에 도달한 감이 있다. 즉 근년에 와서는 호당 사양규모는 증가하고 있으나 사양수수는 2억 7천만수를 전후하여 년도에 따라서 큰 변동이 없다. 계란소비량은 10년전만 해도 1인당 년간 350개정도 소비하였으나 차차로 감소하여 근년에 와서는 1인당 소비량이 270개로 감소하고 있는 현상을 볼 수 있다. (중략)

  • 전후 일본은 YS-11이라는 최초의 일본산 여객기를 만들어 여러나라에 판매한 실적이 있으나 중단했고 다시 YS-X라는 차세대 여객기 개발에 착수한 사실을 지난 6월호에 소개한 바 있으나 이 계획이 중단되었다는 설이 도는 것과 아울러 보잉사의 B-767, B-777 개발에 성공적으로 참여하고 다시 V-2500이라는 제트항공기 엔진의 공동개발을 추진중에 있어 우리에게는 결코 타산지석이 될수 없어 일본업계의 국제 공동개발현황을 요약해 보았다.

  • 오늘날 각국에 널리 통용되고 있는 물가지수의 작성법은 반드시 개관적 지표성을 뚜렷이 인정할만한 정립된 이론의 토대 위에 서있는 것같지 않다. 지금 우리에게 보편적 산식이 되어있는 Laspeyres식을 본다 할 때 대상상품의 종목이나 가중치의 결정방법도 문제려니와 기준시점(연도)의 이동에 따른 전후 지수체계의 불가피한 비연결성은 치명적 결함의 조건이다.
