A Study on the Deep Learning-based Tree Species Classification by using High-resolution Orthophoto Images (고해상도 정사영상을 이용한 딥러닝 기반의 산림수종 분류에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we evaluated the accuracy of deep learning-based tree species classification model trained by using high-resolution images. We selected five species classed, i.e., pine, birch, larch, korean pine, mongolian oak for classification. We created 5,000 datasets using high-resolution orthophoto and forest type map. CNN deep learning model is used to tree species classification. We divided training data, verification data, and test data by a 5:3:2 ratio of the datasets and used it for the learning and evaluation of the model. The overall accuracy of the model was 89%. The accuracy of each species were pine 95%, birch 89%, larch 80%, korean pine 86% and mongolian oak 98%.

Antioxidant Enzyme, Chlorophyll Contents and Stomatal Changes of Five Tree Species under Ozone Stress (저농도 오존처리에 따른 다섯 가지 유묘의 기공 변화, 엽록소 함량 및 항산화 효소 활성)

  • This study is conducted to identify responses of plants to low $O_3$ concentration, Five species, Liriodendron tulipifera, Cornus officinalis, Ginkgoba biloba, Zelkova serrata, and Acer palmatum, were exposed to low ozone concentration from June 9 to July 8 in the phytotron, We measured chlorophyll contents, leaf diffusion resistance, leaf transpiration, and antioxidant enzyme activities; ascorbate peroxidase(APX), Especially, Liriodendron tulipifera and Cornus officinalis showed sensitive responses to ozone treatment as visible injuries, while other four species relatively showed tolerant responses. However, we noticed that almost all species under ozone treatment were lower physiological activities such as chlorophyll contents, leaf diffusion resistance, leaf transpiration, and antioxidant enzyme activities with time even without any visible injury.

  • This study was conducted to find out the effect of differed pH condition at sand culture on the Na Content of seedlings. Na is more contented in some species from acidity to neutrality where there is a little Ca. Difference of Na content in each species of seedlings was marked. According to each species passitive correlation coeffecientwas noticed between Na and Ca content in each species on Alkaline Growth Media, but on the contrary, negative correlation was noticed on acidic condition, In this point of view, it seems that Na content an important factor for the adaptability of the seedings to soil acidity. Especially, in view of the unconformed theory that Na Content partly make up for the physiological effect of porasium content. The writer is goint to this study with further research in the potasium content of seedlings.

Water Transport Resistances of Cutting (삽수(揷穗)의 수분(水分) 통도저항(通導抵抗))

  • The resistance to water transport were measured for the species which are easy for rooting and the species which are difficult for rooting from cutting to rooting. The experimental materials were selected as Euonymus japonica and Viburnum Awabuki for the species easy to root and Quercus glauca, Pasania edulis and Rhaphiolepsis umbellata var. integerreima for the species that are difficult to root. The results were summarized as follows; 1. As the time passed after cutting, the variation of total resistance (RT) showed a slow increase for the species easy to root, while the species that were difficult to root showed a rapid increase. 2. The stem resistance without leaves (RS) showed a rapid increase for the species easy to root but the species difficult to root had nearly constant values. 3. The stem resistance in the cross section (RC) increased noticably for the species difficult to root showed no increase. Furthermore the stem resistance in the cross section (RC) depended on the variation of the stem resistance without leaves (RS). 4. The total resistance (RT) consisted mainly of the resistance of the axil part (RL) for the species difficult to root.

Distribution of Major Deciduous Tree Species in Relation to the Characteristics of Topography in Mt. Joongwang, Gangwon Province(I) (강원도 중왕산 지역의 지형 특성에 따른 주요 활엽수종의 분포(I))

  • This study was conducted to analyze the relationships between distributions of major hardwood species and characteristics of topography in natural hardwood forest at Mt. Joongwang, Pyongchang-gun, Gangwon-do which belongs to mid-northern part of the temperate forest. Acer pictum var. mono, Acer manshuricum and Quercus mongolica were affected by elevation, while Ulmus davidiana var. japonica and Fraxinus rhynchophylla were affected by the change of slope. Importance values of A. pictum, Betula costata, Ulmus laciniata and Cornus controversa in valley were 13.41%, 5.68% and 3.29%, respectively, which were higher than in any other topography. Species diversity of valley was the highest with 0.98. Ratio of A. pictum and Q. mongolica in dominant species were 24% and 14%, respectively in valley, while were 19% and 23% in slop. Q. mongolica ratio in ridgeline was higher than any other species. Importance values of A. pictum increased continuously until elevation 1,200 m. importance values of F. rhynchophylla was 6.6% which was the highest value found on elevation 800 m. Distributions of major hardwood species were different according to the elevation. The ratio of Q. mongolica and A. pictum were 6.4%~17.5% and 6.0%~10.7% respectively, which were the highest ratio. Species diversity increased according to the increase of the elevation.

  • The patterns of isoperoxidase in needle-leaves of 23 species of the genus Pinus were analyzed by means of starch gel electrophoresis. Each species had a unique band pattern. In all, 56 isoperoxidase bands were identified, of which 9 to 35 isoperoxidase bands were possessed by single species. No single band was common to all Pinus species but when band patterns were grouped into 7 types, type II was considered to be the specific to genus Pinus. The results of this experiment indicated that various Pinus species had their more or less specific band patterns of peroxidase.

  • 지리산국립공원의 장터목을 중심으로 남향사면인 중산리-장터목지역과 북향사면인 가내소폭포-장터목지역을 대상으로 사면방향과 해발고에 따른 교목츠의 산림구조를 조사분석하였다 북향사면은 남향사면에 비하여 교목층의 밀도 흉고단면적 종다양도가 높은경향을 보였다 특수한 지형인 주능선부에 위치하는 정부를 제외하면 해발고가 ?아짐에 따라 교목층 전체의 평균 흉고직경과 흉고단면적은 북혀 사면에서는 감소하는 반면 남향사면에서는 증가하는 경향을 보였다 종수, 종다양도, 균재도는 남향사면과 북향사면 모두 해발고가 높아짐에 따라 감소하였다 남향사면과 북향사면에서 모두 해발고가 증가함에 따락 중요치가 높아지는 수종은 구상나무 철쭉꽃 등이었으며 중요치가 감소하는 수종은 졸참나무 서어나무 생강나무 등이었다 cluster 분석결과 남향사면 하부의 졸참나무-활엽수군집 남향사면 중부와 북향사면 하부의신갈나무-전나무군집 남향사면 상부와 북향사면 상중부의 구상나무-활엽수군집 정부의 구상나무군집 등 4개 유형의 군집으로 구분되었다. 졸참나무 산뽕나무 비목나무 고로쇠나무 서어나무 다릅나무 등의 수종간에는 유의적인 정의 상관이 있어으며 구상나무와 사닥나무는 노각나무와 유의적인 부의 상관이 있었다.

  • Occurrence of ectomycorrhizae in the selected woody plants growing in Korea was surveyed and compared with that reported in the literature. Ectomycorrhizae were common features in Pinaceae, Salicaceae, Betulaceae, Fagaceae, Ulmaceae, and Tiliaceae, which agreed with literature. We were unable to find ectomycorrhizae in Cupressaceae, Juglans, Rosaceae, and Acer which were reported to have facultative ectomycorrhizae. Other species observed did not have ectomycorrhizae.

  • The effect of relations parameters on the declination gradient of trees was studied in natural forest of Quercus variabilis, Quercus ${\times}$ grosseserrata, Quercus aliens, and Quercus dentata grown at various slope gradient. The declination gradients of trees were effected by the species, slope gradient, and direction of slope, but not effected by density and height in all species. The species shows a superior factor effecting declination gradient of trees compared with other relations parameters, and next effective factor was slope gradient. Especially in all of slope gradient, the declination gradient of Quercus ${\times}$ grossesserrata was highest.

Vegetation Type Classification and Endemic-Rare Plants Investigation in Forest Vegetation Area Distributed by Vulnerable Species to Climate Change, Mt. Jiri (지리산 기후변화 취약수종 분포지의 산림식생 유형 및 희귀-특산식물 분포 특성)

  • Subalpine zone is geographically vulnerable to climate change. Forest vegetation in this zone is one of the important basic indicator to observe the influence of climate change. This study was conducting phytosociological community classification and endemic-rare plants investigation based on vulnerable species to climate change at the subalpine zone, Mt. Jiri. Vegetation data were collected by 37 quadrate plots from March to October, 2015. In order to understand the species composition of plant sociological vegetation types and the ecological impacts of species, we analyzed the layer structure of vegetation type using important values. Vegetation type was classified into eight species groups and five vegetation units. The vegetation types can be suggested as an indicator on the change of species composition according to the future climate change. There were 9 taxa endemic plants and 17 taxa rare plants designated by KFS(Korea Forest Service) where 41.2% of them were the northern plant. Endemic-rare plants increased as the altitude of vegetation unit increase. Importance value analysis showed that the mean importance value of Abies koreana was highest of all vegetation units. Based on analysis of each layer, all units except vegetation unit 1 were considered to be in competition with the species such as Quercus mongolica and Acer pseudosieboldianum. The results of this study can be a basic data to understand the new patterns caused by climate change. In addition, it can be a basic indicator of long-term monitoring through vegetation science approach.
