Strengthening the competitive edge of SMEs has become one of the most important economic issues in Korea as the bipolarization between large firms and SMEs has deepened. Accordingly, small innovative firms (referred as 'venture firms' in Korea) attract keen attention both from policy makers and academia. Also, we can sufficiently observe how the growth environment for venture firms has evolved, since it has been almost ten years after the Korean government started its support policy for venture firms. Considering this, now is the appropriate time to carry out an analysis of venture firms. From this point of view, this study looks at growth factors for venture firms to draw out policy implications. The empirical analysis shows interesting results. Firms with the following features all showed higher growth rates: firms with high R&D intensity, younger firms, bigger firms, firms using more policy loans, and firms located within and around the Seoul region. However, the empirical analysis has some limitations. The data used in the study is limited in terms of firm information and so there are some insufficiencies. Thus it is of great importance to compile the required data on firms to enable further in-depth studies.

There is a general consensus that fate of the differentiated welfare state had fallen into the brink of demise during the 1970s while the integrated welfare state model has emerged instead. Indications are all that such trend spotlights occupational welfare which has been relatively neglected, especially, in the field of social welfare. Nevertheless, the occupational welfare system in Korea faced crisis due to two major incidents. One is the IMP crisis which necessitates massive scale of restructuring of the general fabric of the Korean business and industry. There is little doubt that the economic crisis will surely cut down occupational welfare expenditure substantially. The other is a report released by the Korean Labor Research Institute which argus that there is no correlation between the Korean occupational welfare system and labor productivity. Thorough investigation of the Korean occupational welfare system suggests that current system is so outdated that it doesn't meet needs of the industrial workforce which, in turn, fails to enhance workers productivity. Consequently, a need for new paradigm and system arises and employee assistance program(EAP) emerges as a viable alternative. EAP is thoroughly delianeated of it's definition, motivations, functions, ingredients, historical background as well as cost-effectiveness. But major tasks center around an investigation and an analysis of it's applicability. In-depth analysis was carried out on the issue of it's indispensable natures and stumbling blocks on the way to lay it's root in the Korean industrial environment. It seems harder than the herculean task. However, EAP is not simply an alternative but is rather a pressing imperative for the present occupational welfare system in Korea which stands at the crossroad.

The purpose of this study is to identify the CSR activities and to investigate the relationship between CSR activities and business performance. Specifically, we analyzed the companies that were included in the SRI index as CSR activity companies, and analyzed how they affect the business performance of the companies according to SRI index incorporation disclosure. As a result of the analysis, the SRI index incorporation announcement has a significant positive effect on the corporate value(Tobin's Q) but it has not significant effect on the financial performance(ROA). This suggests that CSR activities are offered to companies' managers and stakeholders as a basis for investment rather than expense. In the future research, it will be more meaningful if the study on the intention to participate in CSR activities is conducted based on this study and previous studies.

IS 구성원의 직무수행에 요구되어 지는 지식이나 기술의 유형을 크게 기술적 지식/ 기술과 기업업무 지식/기술, 그리고 시스템 지식/기술로 대별될 수 있다. 이를 세분화하면 기술적 기술은 하드웨어와 소프트웨어로 기업업무 기술은 업무과정, 관리적, 사회적 기술로, 시스템 기술은 문제 해결과 개발방법의 하위 차원으로 유형화 할 수 있다. IS 구성원의 직 무 지식/기술은 직무만족과 높은 관련성을 가지고 있으며, 구성원이 지각하는 직무만족의 정도에 따라 조직몰입에는 정의 관련성을, 그리고 이직의도와는 부의 관련성을 가지게 된 다. 이는 IS 부서의 성과제고를 위한 중요한 시사점을 제시해 준다.

우리나라 제조물책임(PL)법은 소비자의 권익보호와 결합제품으로 인한 피해자의 신속한 구제를 통한 국민생활의 안전향상과 국민경제의 건전한 발전을 도모할 목적으로 2002년 7월 1일 시행되었으나, 본질적인 기능 발휘와 목적 달성은 미미한 수준에 그치고 있다. 피해자의 적극적인 구제의 수단으로서의 역할뿐만 아니라 기업의 제품안전 활동에 대한 동기 부여를 통하여 제품안전기술력 제고를 통한 기업 경쟁력 향상의 역할 수행은 법 시행 이전과 비교하여 비슷한 수준이다. 이는 우리나라 PL법 제도 자체의 한계가 원인이라고 할 수 있지만 근본적인 원인은 제도 시행에 요구되는 사회적 인프라가 충분히 구축되어 있지 않다는 점이다.

It can be explained by congruity theory as a process that consumers engage in a matching process to identify personal community that is congruent with their self-images to find the identification between the self and the personal community. Personal community cues that evoke certain images are viewed as activating similar beliefs about the self (e.g., high status). Individuals prompt a comparison process to determine whether the personal community and self-image are congruent and imagine prototypical users of the personal community and select ones that maximize similarity to their actual or desired self-concept. Identity is devided into personal identity and social identity. Consumers are likely to be influenced by both personal identity and social identity. In this article the influencing factors of the commitment to on-line personal community are explored by the sources of both personal identification and social identification. The results are as follows. The maintenance expression and enhancement expression of personal self influence the level of personal identification positively and the maintenance expression and enhancement expression of social self influence the level of social identification positively. The level of both social and personal identification positively influence the commitment to on-line personal community which gives positive responses to the source enterprise that allows the cyberspace and the other benefits to be used.

강건한 벤처산업을 만들기 위해‘위대한 스승’은 꼭 필요하다. 짧은 역사를 가진 한국의 벤처역사속에서도 스승으로 삼을 만한 선배들의 족적들을 심심치 않게 찾아볼 수 있다. 그러나 혜성처럼 빛나다 어느날 사라져 버리는 벤처의 성공신화는 우리시대 스승의 참모습이 아니다. 성공신화만으로는 스승의 참모습으로 부족하다. 왜냐하면 하나의 기업으로서 사회적 책임을 다하는 시대정신을 가져야하고, 또한 장수해야하는‘위대성’을 스스로 보여주어야 하기 때문이다.

공정위는 기업들이 자율적으로 자율준수규범을 마련한 것을 공정거래협회 등을 통해 적극 지원해주고 이런 사회분위기가 마련되도록 지원해 주는 것이 우리 사회에 공정거래질서를 빠른 시일내에 확립하는 기회가 될 것이므로 이와 같은 노력을 더욱 강화해야 할 것이다. 그래서 공정거래질서의 유지는 기업들의 자율적인 노력과 협회 등 관련기관들이 노력할 부분으로 남겨두고 공정위는 보다 정책적인 면에 대해 힘을 쓰는 것이 바람직하다고 생각된다.

인쇄업계의 불황이 깊어지고 있는 가운데 중소기업을 육성해야 할 지방자치단체들이 발간실을 운영하며 인쇄인의 영역을 침범하고 있다. 지방자치단체의 발간실 문제가 최근에 불거진 것은 아니지만 중소기업의 상생발전이라는 사회적 이슈와 맞물리며 뜨거운 감자로 떠오르고 있다. 이에 지방자치단체 발간실 현황과 문제점에 대해 알아본다.
