  • The purpose of this research is to examine the relationships between online and offline social capital and psychological well-being of university students. Data came from 236 university students who attended 4-year universities in Seoul and had used Social Network Service. The results of this study indicated that only offline social capital was statistically significant to predict psychological well-being including depression and happiness when both online and offline social capital variables were entered. In detail, the university students' depression was associated with their gender, satisfaction with their economic status, and offline bridging social capital. In addition the students' happiness was associated with their satisfaction with their economic status, offline bridging, and bonding social capital. These results indicate that offline social capital is more important for improving psychological well-being of university students compared to online social capital. Policy implications for improving psychological well-being of university students are discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the longitudinal patterns of marital satisfaction, characteristics of each pattern, influencing factors and the difference on self-esteem, among married couples who experienced unemployment. To achieve this, the 443 married couples, who were initially employed in the first year but unemployed in next 5 years were extracted from the $2^{nd}$ to $11^{st}$ waves of Korean Welfare Panel Study(KoWePS) data. The results showed that there are five patterns on marital satisfactions of couple who experienced unemployment: maintaining low-level, mid-level, continuous declining, rebound after sharp declining, and maintaining high-level. In addition to this, the groups that maintain the marital satisfaction showed higher self-esteem than the groups that showed positive or negative change in marital relationship. Based on these results, this study suggested political and practical intervention to maintain the satisfaction of marital relationship and their self-esteem in a high level.

  • This study aims to categorize the daily time use of older adults into different types, examine the factors influencing them and the differences between them by type, and verify the effect of each type on life satisfaction. From the 6th wave of the Korea Retirement and Income Study (KeRIS), analysis was conducted on 3,963 older adults aged 65 (n=3,963). Using Latent Profile Analysis (LPA), three types of daily time use for older adults were identified: basic life maintenance type (16%), free-leisure oriented type (26%), and social activity type (58%). From the results of multinomial logistic regression analysis to identify the factors influencing each type of daily time use, it was found that the main factors influencing free-leisure oriented type, when compared with basic life maintenance type, were the presence of spouse (p<.01) and psychological health status (p<.001). The main factors influencing social activity type, when compared with basic life maintenance type, were age (p<.05), economic activity (p<.001), and chronic disease (p<.001). The life satisfaction seen during free-leisure oriented time and social activity time was higher than that during basic life maintenance time. From these findings, practical and policy proposals were suggested to improve life satisfaction of older adults during basic life maintenance time by pursuing changes in the use of that time.

As a result of analysis, it could be known that the path of perfect mediating effect in depression was formed after passing through the benefits satisfaction and the marital happiness from gender role attitude in the married-working women and that the benefits satisfaction has the partial mediating effect between depression and marital happiness. Suggesting a plan for getting rid of depression in the married-working women based on the results of this study, first of all, the married-working women's depression is greatly accredited to what our society regards domestic work yet as woman's role. Thus, the policy-based measure is demanded that can support for working women to be possibly compatible in work and family life and that can induce men's participation in household affairs and child-rearing in such context. Second, it was indicated that the more the married-working women adhere strictly to the gender role attitude of traditionalism, the lower result the marital happiness and benefits satisfaction have. Considering this, a plan for activating welfare system and family-friendly system is demanded that can change gender role value in traditionalism, which is being left in our society. Third, to promote marital happiness that has great influence upon the married-working women's depression, there is a need of seeking a plan, which further intensifies the family services including the marital education and the parent education.

Second, as these social activities increase, the level of life satisfaction also increases. Third, the more positive the age norms to which the older person subscribes, the more the level of life satisfaction increases. Fourth, there is a significant positive mediating effect of social activity in the relationship between the age norms of the older person and life satisfaction. Fifth, there is a significant moderating effect of death preparation activities in the structural relationship between age norms, social activities, and life satisfaction that specifically impacts the age norm-life satisfaction relationship. Based on these results, practical plans to improve elderly people's life satisfaction are recommended.

  • Korea's self-support program has constituted one of the most important workfare policy for the past 25 years. However, many pointed out the lack of field perceptions in the performance indicators of self-support program, such as overemphasis on the economic performance and uniform application regardless of regional types. This research intends to derive policy implications to improve performance indicators of self-support program by analyzing field perceptions, utilizing ISA(Importance-Satisfaction Analysis) method. Analysis on the difference between importance and satisfaction shows that the procedure was perceived more important than the consequences. It also reveals that current indicators were not satisfactory enough to reflect field practices. Finally, ISA matrix classified indicators into keep, improve, policy reconsideration area, and obvious differences were found by regional type. These findings suggest the importance of field-orientation in performance indicators, and by which, can serve as an exploratory study for the improvement of performance indicators.
