The purpose of this study is comparing fiscal sustainability of 17 welfare states. Borrowed the concept of fiscal space to Ostry et al(2010) and Ghosh et al(2011), this study measures the fiscal sustainability in welfare states. Using data collected from 20 OECD countries from 1986 to 2013, this study attempts to evaluate the financial sustainability of each country. As a result, it is necessary that the appropriate level of tax burden is secured. Tax revenue is the funded basis for maintaining the welfare state, so increasing tax compliance to offset the negative impact of increasing welfare spending will promote social cohesion. In therms of tax structure, in accordance with the ability to pay principle, it is important to raise the equity between the source of taxation. Reducing the gap between labor and capital tax is required to achieve horizontal equity, It is also useful to utilize the financial base of the welfare state by broadening the tax base though a consumption tax. Improving the vertical equity can also make a positive contribution to the fiscal sustainability of the welfare state.

This study was performed in order to to suggest the library service direction and program provision method for single-person households in the Seoul Public Library. by analyzing the current status of the operation of public services and library services for domestic and foreign single-person households and the results of the survey on perception of library users and experts. As a result, the suggested library service direction for single-person households was proposed to secure and provide information resources closely related to the lives of single-person households, and establish a support center in charge of services to utilize human resources efficiently with local libraries, and create a user-centered facility infrastructure including single-person households away from the material-oriented library, provide regional specifications and customised services based on the characteristics and distribution of single-person households. In addition, the reading culture program for single-person households believes that social activities support for vulnerable single-person households, social ties, care, volunteer work, leisure and cultural activities are more necessary than anything else, and proposed specialized library services and programs for young, middle-aged, and female single-person households.

This study looks into Dooriban movement, which problematizes the ways in which social movements are carried out in everyday settings in modern Korea. Contrary to traditional social movements, Dooriban movement led by active/independent participants -who are locally situated and culturally sensitized- showed a new way of engaging with political power. Making use of qualitative methodology such as in-depth interviews and participant observation, this research examines the implications of emergent cultural practices that redefine and reconfigure the working mechanisms of social movements in Korea today.

Rooted in the work of Pierre Bourdieu, the cultural intermediaries have recently developed as a focus of attention for the Anglo-saxon sociology of culture and cultural studies. This paper tries to critically examine the debate around the definition and role of cultural intermediaries. It also explores the applicability of the notion ‘cultural intermediaries’ to a changing digital mediascape. In the first part of the paper, I clarify the critical problematics inherent in the Bourdieusian conception which focuses on the function of cultural intermediaries for the ‘production of the belief’ in cultural goods. Consequently, I draw attention to the mediation and transformation process of ‘legitimate culture’ by critics in mass media as ‘new cultural intermediaries’. In the second part, I attempt to constitute a typology of cultural intermediaries, proposing the notion of ‘on-line cultural mediation’ and ‘on-line cultural intermediaries’. I also outline the characteristics of three different types (‘traditional’, ‘new' and 'on-line') of cultural intermediaries. I argue this new conception of cultural intermediaries can help to understand the complex power relations and their transmutation in various cultural fields under digital environment.

Due to globalization, diversification, and informatization, modern society confronts change and crisis in a variety of areas such as economy, politics, and culture. In that context, mathematics educators seek for how to reform school mathematics for democratic and just society. This research proposes critical mathematics education as an alternative model of school mathematics for democratic society. In particular, this research is an explorative study to construct a model of critical mathematics education program. For the purpose, we conducted a comprehensive literature review to identify goals, contents, and methods of teaching and learning, and method of assessment for critical mathematics education. We checked the validity of the model by using the cases of critical mathematics education. Since this research is explorative in the regard that the model is based on theoretical literatures, further research is necessary to extend the model through design research in school context.

The purpose of this study is to examine the civic participation in supply process of social welfare services in the Japanese communities and to detect the background that how "Non-profit citizen welfare organization" emerged as a social welfare service supplier of local government. Furthermore the effect of Non-profit citizen welfare organization on the expansion of employment opportunities for women is also analyzed in this study. In order to investigate the background of the emergence of non-profit citizen welfare organization as a social welfare service supplier, this study approached not only from the viewpoint of the trends of welfare pluralism followed by the crisis of welfare states, but also from the viewpoint of how local government solve the problems of consumption flexibility on welfare services. In addition, to examine the effects of Non-profit citizen welfare organization on the expansion of employment opportunities for women, a case study on the employment function of non-profit citizen welfare organization is also carried out in this study. The various background how non-profit citizen welfare organizations emerged and the employment effect from those organizations are empirically analysed through the methods mentioned above.

Library professionals should do their best themselves to develop libraries in the diversified society of 21st century. This study suggests library professionals' participation on library related committees and advocacy to develop libraries. If library professionals participating on library related committees bring understanding of other committee members to the importance of the role of libraries and librarians, this effort results the development of an individual library and the all libraries in Korea. This study examines how to develop libraries by the library professionals' participation on the committees of public and academic libraries and school committees and advocacy.

사회의 글로벌화와 다원화로 인한 행정수요가 다양화 되고 정책문제가 복잡해지면서 이를 해결하기 위한 부처 간의 협력이 강조되고 있다. 이에 따라 다부처연구개발사업(이하 다부처사업)의 수요가 확대되고 있는 상황에서, 실무적 측면의 다부처사업 추진체계 설계 및 평가를 위한 가이드라인이 필요하다. 이를 위해, 본 연구에서는 연구개발사업의 목적 및 내용에 따른 추진체계 평가방법을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구에서는 추진체계의 효율성 평가를 위해 거래비용 개념을 도입한 평가방법론을 제안하였다. 추진체계를 도입함으로써 절감할 수 있는 거래비용과 발생하는 조직비용의 값을 비교하여 추진체계의 효율성을 분석할 수 있는 평가방법을 설계하였고, Williamson과 Coase의 이론을 도입하여 각 비용을 측정할 수 있는 대리지표를 도출하고 설문을 설계하였다. 전문가를 대상으로 델파이 조사를 진행하여 도출된 대리지표의 기획 평가 관점에 따른 가중치를 설정하였다. 제안한 평가방법의 적용 가능성을 검증하고 보완사항을 도출하고자 현재 추진되고 있는 4개의 다부처사업에 대한 사례연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구는 다부처사업의 추진체계의 효율성을 사전적 및 사후적으로 평가할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

It has been known that deconstruction has affected various fields as literature, architecture, an, film, industrial design, and so on. Especially, deconstruction has applied into a wide scope of the design related fields through diverse ways and the results also show that there is a great potentiality in the ways of it's expression with different styles. Deconstruction design has been approached in connection with post-modernism, deconstruction theory of J. Derrida and pluralistic post industrial society. In particular, it is obvious that deconstruction philosophy has deeply affected the fields of visual design and typography which are mostly communicated with symbols and texts. This study intends to examine how the deconstruction theory has been practically applied into the typography by analyzing the change of deconstruction typographic styles and exploring the distinctiveness of the change.

The purpose of this study is to show how could GIS along with digital maps and census data be used for scientific urban analysis and location analysis for a proposed project. Results are summarized as follows. First. after digital maps being completed, the census tract system being adopted, and major urban data being inputted in the computer file, GIS could be used intensively for various reliable urban analysis. With graphic statistical, and overlay functions of GIS, various physical and socio-economic characteristics of urban areas could be presented for analysis in the form of thematic and datapoint maps on the computer screen. Second, the locational analysis for a proposed project is a major part in the building permit review process, which tends to become disputable and time consuming as society become pluralized. Along with various GIS functions scientific decision-making methods could be developed, and the methods could play an important role for faster and scientific location analysis. As such, GIS would play an important role for faster and reliable urban analysis and location analysis and these functions finally would play important roles to improve public services and administration of local governments.
