Social phenomena require the fundamentals of novel scientific epistemology and methodology due to the continual change by complex variables. A systematic understanding of paradigm shifts is also necessary for analyzing the problems currently faced in society. This study presents chaos theory, which was developed from the natural sciences, to discuss the abnormality of modern society that underscores the importance of the chaos paradigm. Chaos theory is applicable to diverse social phenomena that stretches across politics, economics, and sociology. If social science research can appropriately and effectively develop and apply chaos theory, the theory can be utilized as a useful paradigm to reinforce the fundamentals of epistemology and methodology in exploring social phenomena.

본 연구는 고령화 사회에 대응하여 고령자의 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위해 과학기술이 해야 할 역할과 그 적용범위에 대해 살펴본다. 이를 위해 우리나라 노인의 삶의 질에 대한 현황을 살펴보고, 기술과 사용자 환경의 공진화 이론과 사회적 수요기술공급 순환체계 이론에 기반하여 보청기 사례연구를 통해 고령자에 대응하는 우리나라 과학기술의 사회적 기술공급체계에 대한 현황과 문제점을 알아본다. 마지막으로 고령자의 삶의 질 증대를 위한 과학기술 활용방안을 시스템적 관점에서 제시한다.

최근 인문사회과학은 지역적 특수성과 문화적 배경(context)를 무시하고 법측과 체계(system)을 추구하는 자연과학의 개념을 인간사회에 적용하려는 여러 이론들이 인간의 근본적인 문제를 해결하는데 한계가 있음을 지적하고 있다. 이러한 법치주의에 의한 법인간적인 해석보다는 지역적이고 문화적 상황하에서 인간사회의 문제를 이해하려는 경향이 지금까지 행태(behavior)나 사회구조(social structure system)의 이해를 통해 인간사회를 분석하고 있다. 그 방법론으로는 전체의 맥락(context)이나 주변의 연관관계를 통해 의미를 이해하는 책(text)의 해석(interpretation)의 비유를 그 틀(paradigm)로 하고 있다. 이러한 경향은 예술과 미의 문제도 같은 체계(system)속에서 이해하여 현대의 전통, 문화와 대중으로부터 분리된 예술과 미로부터 전통, 문화, 개인과 생활이 공명할 수 있는 본래의 예술과 미를 찾으려 한다. 본 연구는 이러한 사회문화 이론의 개념을 분석하고 그 원리와 이론의 축면에서 경관(landscape)을 해석하고 경관의 의미(미를 포함한)체계(meaning system)을 분석하여 설계언어(design language)를 찾아내며 이를 설계에 응용할 수 있게 하는 기본적 틀(paradigm)을 제시하고자 한다.

This paper presents theoretical discussions on socio-techical system transition, by shedding light on the STS context. With a rising attention paid by STI policy researchers, the socio-technical system perspective seems particularly promising in applying to the pursuit for the sustainable development. The normative strand in STI policy research has been strongly influenced by the STS tradition that emphasizes active and participatory roles not only of academian but also of science and technology. Throughout reviewing the development of the socio-technical system perspective, its theoretical components of environment, drivers and dynamics are discussed, often being linked to older perspectives. STI policy involves in socio-technical transition in a manner of transition management and governance, which is the final part of this paper.

Big data research plays a role of supplementing existing social science research methods. If the survey and experimental methods are somewhat inaccurate because they mainly rely on recall memories, big data are more accurate because they are real-time records. Social science research so far, which mainly conducts sample research for reasons such as time and cost, but big data research analyzes almost total data. However, it is not easy to repeat and reproduce social research because the social atmosphere can change and the subjects of research are not the same. While social science research has a strong triangular structure of 'theory-method-data', big data analysis shows a weak theory, which is a serious problem. Because, without the theory as a scientific explanation logic, even if the research results are obtained, they cannot be properly interpreted or fully utilized. Therefore, in order for big data research to become a methodological innovation, I proposed big thinking along with researchers' efforts to create new theories(black boxes).

본 논문에서는 사회복지사의 직무만족과 자기효능감과의 관계에 대한 실증적 탐색을 위한 이론적 배경을 제안한다. 선행 연구들에 의하면 자기효능감이 높은 사람일수록 해당 직무를 적극적으로 선택하고 많은 노력을 경주하고, 지속적으로 시도할 가능성이 높고 따라서 한 개인이 취하는 행동이나 과업이 성공할 확률이 높다고 한다. 하지만 사회복지 영역에 있어서는 업무의 특수성상, 다른 사회과학 영역에서와는 다른 이론적 차이점이 존재할 것으로 추정된다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 직무만족과 자기효능감에 대한 기존 사회과학 영역에서의 이론적 배경들을 살펴보고, 향후 실증분석을 통하여 사회복지실천 연구의 영역확장을 꾀할 수 있는 기초를 제공하고자 한다.

본 연구는 미국의 실용주의 철학자인 존 듀이의 공생적 합리주의 모형에 대한 분석과 이 모형의 계획이론의 적용에 대한 사회규범적 논의에 관한 것이다. 다양한 사회과학분야의 문헌고찰과 듀이를 비롯한 실용주의학파들의 연구를 중심으로 이루어진 본 연구는, 최근 논의되고 있는 사회 규범적 차원에서 논의되고 있는 계획이론의 이론적 근거를 존 듀이의 공생적 합리주의에서 찾고자 하였다. 민주주의의 속성상 계획과정에서의 상충과 갈등이 피할수 없는 현실이라면, 이러한 갈등과 상충이 발전적 도구로 존재할 수 있다고 제시한 듀이의 공생주의는 합리성의 가능성에 바탕을 둔 고전적 합리주의 이론을 대체할 수 있는 하나의 이론으로 제시될 수 있을 것이다. 존 듀이의 공생주의 이론에 대한 연구는 기존의 계획이론분야에서는 제시된 적이 없는 최초의 연구로서, 향후 계획이론 분야의 발전에 있어서 이론적 분석의 한 축을 제시했다는데 본 논문의 기여가 있다고 하겠다.

Recent environmental issues such as genetically modified organisms, the loss of biodiversity, climate change, and nuclear waste cannot be reduced to a matter of science or society and explained through nature-society dualist approaches because of their complexity and heterogeneity. This paper examines how nature-society dualism has been embedded in science studies and geography and how this dualism can be overcome. Actor-Network Theory as an attempt to overcome this nature-society dualism is appropriate in analysing "strange imbriglio" of biology, politics, technoscience, market, value, ethics and facts that constitute our society by focusing on heterogeneous association, and can contribute to providing a useful framework to solve environmental problems.

As one of the essential elements of social work practice, knowledge articulates what the social work profession is doing and ought to do. With an emphasis on building a body of knowledge for the profession, this study analyses the nature of social work knowledge. First, the study examines concepts of social work theories and models, which are built around separate clusters of concepts from a broad base of theoretical orientation. The study reviews epistemological and ideological debates over how to perceive and approach social issues and the role of the social work profession. In organizing a clear conceptual framework for social work practice, different frames of reference and selective and fragmentary knowledge from other disciplines are considered barriers. For the development of a clear identity as a unified profession and the prospects of a value-based profession, more attention needs to be given to specify practical knowledge that is contextual and appropriate to practice settings and more sensitive to social issues.
