In this paper, we describe the development of a system for generating a 3-dimensional human face using 3D scanned facial data and photo images, and morphing animation. The system comprises a facial feature input tool, a 3-dimensional texture mapping interface, and a 3-dimensional facial morphing interface. The facial feature input tool supports texture mapping and morphing animation - facial morphing areas between two facial models are defined by inputting facial feature points interactively. The texture mapping is done first by means of three photo images - a front and two side images - of a face model. The morphing interface allows for the generation of a morphing animation between corresponding areas of two facial models after texture mapping. This system allows users to interactively generate morphing animations between two facial models, without programming, using 3D scanned facial data and photo images.
Purpose : The goal of this study was to survey the quality control of mammographic phantom images in some area. Methods : Between May and June, 2005, I have got a total of 47 mammographic phantom images collected from 49 hospitals and were analized about phantom score of fibrous, speck, tumor with enlargement scope. By critic level of experimental mammographic phantom case images, classified through the pass case that fibrous score 4, speck score 3, tumor score 3 over. Result : It passed 33case (70.3%), failed 14 case (29.7%) about 47 case. Passing case images showed tube voltage $23{\sim}30\;kVp$, tube current $20{\sim}60\;mAs$, photographic density $0.48{\sim}1.77$ Conclusion : It passed case about 70.3% of mammographic phantom image in some area. Optimum range of tube voltage, tube current, photographic density have to use to get fine quality of mammographic images.
This study was aimed at how posteroanterior cephalometric measurements affect the perception of the patient about his/her facial asymmetry. One hundred orthodontic patients, over the age of 12, who required a posteroanterior cep-halogram in the Department of Orthodontics of Chonnam National University Hospital were used as the subjects. They were asked if they thought their faces were asymmetrical. Their responses were classified into 5 groups based on the level of asymmetry as follows : Definitely No, Probably No, Don't Know, Probably Yes, and Definitely Yes. Nine linear and low angular measurements from each posteroanterior cephalometric radiographs were analysed on the standard of the line between crista galli and anterior nasal spine to show the extent of asymmetry. Through this comparative study, the following results were obtained. 1. As the deviation of menton and the midline discrepancy of the upper and lower jaws were greater, the perception of patients about their facial asymmetry was higher. 2. All the measurements from the group 'Don't Know' showed no statistical difference from those of the groups 'Definitely No' or 'Probably No.' 3. All the measurements from the group 'Probably Yes' showed no statistical difference from those of the group 'Definitely yes.' .
This study aims to discriminate differences in natural landscapes between the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland and the Jirisan National Park in Korea, using functions of content-based image retrieval such as texture, shape, and color. Digital photographs of each National Park were taken and selected. The low-level functions of photographic images were reduced to orthogonally rotated five factors. Based on the reduced factors, a linear decision boundary was obtained between Cairngorms landscapes and Jirisan landscapes. As a result, the discriminant function significantly delineated two groups, resulting in $x^2=63.40$ with df=5(p<0.001). Both the eigenvalue 2.417 and the value of wilks' lambda 0.29 supported that the most proportion of total variability came from the differences between the means of discriminant function of groups. It was estimated that four independent variables explained about 70.7% of total variance of dependent variable. The variable with the largest effect on landscapes was far region-related factor(r=1.07), followed by near region-related factor (r=0.90). A total of 90.7% of cross-validated grouped cases were correctly classified. It was interpreted that far distant regions, as well as near distant regions, had sufficient discrimination power for landscape classification between the Cairngorms National Park and the Jirisan National Park, so that landscape identity of the National Park over cultures was revealed by skylines in a most effective way. Relatively fewer factors making visual landscapes were effectively used to classify natural landscapes of the National Parks which had different semantics.
The aim of this study was to compare the root canal systems of maxillary and mandibular premolars that had a single root using radiographs and clearing samples. 142 single rooted premolars were selected and mesio-distal and bucco-lingual views were radiographed using intra-oral dental standard films. Four equally trained examiners classify the root canal types from the developed radiographs. After opening the tooth for access, it was stored in $5\%$ NaOCl to dissolve the pulp tissue. Indian ink was then injected into the pulp cavity to stain the pulp tissue. It was cleared in methyl salicylate after being decalcified with $5\%$ nitric acid for 48 hours, and the root canal type was evaluated at a magnification of $\times$ 20 using a stereomicroscope. The results are as follows ; There were statistically significant differences between the radiographs and clearing samples of the root canal types among examiners (p < 0.05). There might be differences in the root canal types among examiners when the same radiograph is used. Therefore, considering the difficulty in estimating the root canal types, clinicians need to be careful when interpreting radiographs before root canal therapy.

Purpose: We aimed to evaluate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of congenital postaxial polydactyly of the foot. Materials and Methods: Three-hundred and forty-seven feet of 288 patients who underwent congenital postaxial polydactyly or polysyndactyly correction were divided into five subtypes according to the radiographic shapes of deformity origins (widened metatarsal head, bifid, fused duplicated, incompletely duplicated, or completely duplicated). MRIs were assessed to determine whether they unrevealed areas were fused or separated. MRI was also used to assess cases with radiographic phalangeal aplasia. Results: Huge variations were noted in MRIs. Fusion or separation at the base or head between original and extra digits were observed, and MRI effectively depicted phalangeal aplastic areas. Conclusion: MRI evaluations of congenital postaxial polydactyly of the foot are useful for determining the anatomical statuses which were not visualized by plain radiography (level of evidence: 3).

Facial processing of different racial origin has been investigated at various levels including perceptual, emotional, and socio-cultural processing. Particularly, a good deal of studies have been conducted to show "other race effect (ORE)" to indicate that subtle facial information such as identity or emotional expressions are often under-processed in racial out-group members. However, few studies have investigated whether attentional modulation toward racial out-group faces could explain ORE. We investigated whether novelty-driven attentional mechanism is involved in face perception using event-related potential (ERP). Twenty-two Korean (KR) and nine Caucasian-American (AM) participants were presented with emotional faces from the two racial origins while they performed a gender categorization task. KRs showed significantly greater P3 amplitudes to AM than to KR faces indicating that the early attentional processing underlies differential perception of racial out-group faces. Interestingly, P3 was not up-regulated in the AM subjects when they were presented with KR faces, perhaps due to massive habituation to KR faces during everyday social interaction. These results indicate that racial out-group faces are highly salient stimuli which automatically occupy attentional resources, but easily habituated with repeated exposure to the racial-out group.

Purpose To develop and validate a deep learning-based screening tool for the early diagnosis of scoliosis using chest radiographs with a semi-supervised generative adversarial network (GAN). Materials and Methods Using a semi-supervised learning framework with a GAN, a screening tool for diagnosing scoliosis was developed and validated through the chest PA radiographs of patients at two different tertiary hospitals. Our proposed method used training GAN with mild to severe scoliosis only in a semi-supervised manner, as an upstream task to learn scoliosis representations and a downstream task to perform simple classification for differentiating between normal and scoliosis states sensitively. Results The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, negative predictive value (NPV), positive predictive value, sensitivity, and specificity were 0.856, 0.950, 0.579, 0.985, and 0.285, respectively. Conclusion Our deep learning-based artificial intelligence software in a semi-supervised manner achieved excellent performance in diagnosing scoliosis using the chest PA radiographs of young individuals; thus, it could be used as a screening tool with high NPV and sensitivity and reduce the burden on radiologists for diagnosing scoliosis through health screening chest radiographs.
A floristic study on the vascular plants from Juwangsan National Park was conducted 13 times in total, from March to October 2017. Based on the voucher specimens and pictures, it was revealed that the vascular plants in this region comprised 758 taxa: 112 families, 399 genera, 672 species, 4 subspecies, 72 varieties, and 10 forma. Among these plants, 221 taxa were recorded for the first time from this region. The taxa in category II of endangered plants designated by the Korean Ministry of Environment were two taxa, including Eleutherococcus senticosus (Rupr. & Maxim.) Maxim. and Epilobium hirsutum L. The rare plants numbered 5 taxa designated by National Institute of Biological Resources were also found. 20 taxa of Korean endemic plants including Corydalis alata B.U.Oh & W.R.Lee, Iris odaesanensis Y.N.Lee, and Scrophularia cephalantha Nakai were investigated in this region. 40 taxa of floristic regional indicator plants in the 3rd to the 5th degrees were identified. Naturalized plants of 55 taxa were recorded, and 3 taxa of ecosystem disturbance plants, which were Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., Aster pilosus Willd., and Lactuca scariola L., also found.
Two unrecorded Poaceae species, Anthoxanthum glabrum and Saccharum arundinaceum, are herein newly reported from Korea. Anthoxanthum glabrum (Ae-Gi-Hyang-Mo) was found in Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, Sangju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do and Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do. It is distinguished from A. nitens by the length of its spikelet, glume and lemma. Saccharum arundinaceum (Keun-Gae-Sa-Tang-Su-Su) was found in Mapo-gu, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do. It is distinguished from S. spontaneum by hair on the lower glume and according to the length of the hair on the callus of its spikelet. In this study, a description and illustrations of the species and photos of the habitat are provided.
