  • A taxonomical revision of the Korean species of family Belonolaimidae has been undertaken. Twenty three species belonging to four different genera under two subfamily were reported from Korea hiteroto. Among them Tylenchorhynchus martini to T. annulatus. Merlinius acuminatus, M. brevidens, M. joctus, M. lenorus, M. nothus and M. koreanus to genus Geocenamus. M. clavicaudatus, M. macrurus, M. socialis to genus Amplimerlinius and Quinisulcius capitatus to Tylenchorhynchus capitatus were synonymized respectively. The keys of the each genera were proposed for identification. Distribution, host plants and photograps were included.

  • Concept of the comfort and fitness has become a major concern in the basic function of the ready.made clothes. Until now ready-made clothes were not made by on the basis of the bodytype, but by the body size only This research was performed to classify and characterize the bodytypes of Korean adult males. Sample size was 1290 subjects and their age range was from 19 to 54 years old. 25 variables from the photographic data were applied to analyze the bodytype of trunk. Data were analyzed by the multivariate method, especially factor and cluster analysis. The groups forming a cluster can be subdivided into 5 sets by crosstabulation extracted by the hierarchical cluster analysis. 5 bodytypes classified by the photographic sources could be combined with the anthropometric data and were demonstrated with 5 silhouette. Type 3 and 4 in trunk were dominant and were composed of the majority of 55.6% of the subjects. Bodytypes of Korean males were influenced by the degree of posture erectness and of curvature of the front side of the body in waist and abdomen.

  • A taxonomic review of the fungivorous tetratomid beetles in Korea, which comprises four species belonging to two genera of two subfamilies, is presented. Three species, Holostrophus (Paraholostrophus) orientalis Lewis, 1895 and two newly recorded species, Pisenus insignis (Reitter, 1889) and Holostrophus diversefasciatus Pic, 1921, are identified and described herein. A photograph of adults, diagnoses, illustrations of diagnostic characteristics, and ecological information regarding habitat, and host fungi are provided.

  • Habenaria iyoensis Ohwi (Orchidaceae), previously known only from southern Japan and Taiwan, was found in the lowland of Jeju-do. This species is distinguished from the related taxa of Korean Habenaria by 3-nerved sepals, short-cylindrical spurs, and rosette leaves. The local name Ae-gi-bang-ul-nan-cho implies a smaller plant than H. flagellifera. The morphological characters and illustrations of the species are provided with photographs at the habitat.

  • Carex taihokuensis Hayata (Cyperaceae) is reported from Jin-do (Isl.), SW Korea, for the first time. It belongs to sect. Digitatae, and had been known from Taiwan, China, and Japan. C. taihokuensis is characterized by the staminate terminal spike, bracts with sheath, pilose perigynia, and style base not thickened. We propose the new Korean name, 'Jin-do-sa-cho', after its first collecting place. We also provide a key to species in sect. Digitatae in Korea and Japan.
