According to photography, lines are important elements that make composition and mood of photo. In this paper, we proposed a measure for compositional dissimilarity between photos using lines which are basic elements of photography. To identify patterns of lines which classify composition of photos, we investigated both features of compositionally same photos and compositionally different photos. Then we developed effective measure for compositional dissimilarity between photos by applying the investigated features to the measure, and we implemented an image searching system which retrieves photo compositionally similar to given query to evaluate performance of proposed method. The searching system showed the precision of about 85% maximally for the highly matched 10 results and was capable of reliably retrieving compositionally similar to given query even if some objects were included in photos.

사진을 결정하는 것은 노출, 초점, 구도 등 3가지 이다. 지난 3월호부터 조리개와 셔터속도로 적정노출을 맞추고 어두운 곳에서 셔터속도가 나오지 않을 때는 ISO(감도)를 높여서 셔터속도를 확보해 노출을 맞추자 했고, 5월호에서는 측광모드에서 측거점에 의한 초점을 맞추어 원하는 사진을 표현하고자 했다. 7월호에서는 빛의 각도를 활용해 작가가 의도하는 작품을 얻을 수 있다고 했다. 이번호에서는 사진의 완성도를 결정짓는 구도까지 공부하고 나면 노출, 초점, 구도의 3박자가 어우러져 정말 화면의 짜임새 있는 좋은 사진을 만들 수 있다. 특히 '빛'을 보는 시각까지 익혔다면 그야말로 환상의 조합이다. "세상은 악보요. 사진은 연주다." 사진가는 전체를 총괄하며 지휘해야 한다. 주제, 톤, 콘트라스트, 계조, 색상, 프레임속에 짜임새있게 사진의 요소를 배치하는 것까지... 이제부터 구도를 공부해서 나만의 오케스트라를 연주하는 지휘자가 되보자.

세상에는 사진만으로 구사할 수 있는 언어가 있다. 사진에서 차지하는 구도는 사진 제작에서 본질적인 것이며 매우 중요성을 갖는다. 구도의 본질은 구성이고 그 목적은 주제를 강조하고 시각적으로 가장 유효적절하게 나타내려는 것이다. 좋은 구도는 눈을 즐겁게 하면서 관심을 끄는 한편 시각적으로 잘 표현된 사진은 단순한 사물로서의 대상이 아니라 의사소통의 중요한 요소이다. 사진의 완성도를 결정짓는 구도까지 공부했으니 이제는 왕초보에서 '왕'자를 떼어내고 초보 사진가로서 세상의 보이는 모든 것들을 지휘해보자.

사진을 결정하는 것은 노출 구도 초점 이라 했다. 이 3박자가 완벽하게 되면 정말 좋은 사진을 만들 수 있다. 구도와 초점은 정해진 법칙이 있어서 누구나 쉽게 배울 수 있고 선천적으로 감각을 타고나기도 하지만 노출만큼은 누구도 쉽게 가르쳐줄 수 없을 정도로 정말 영원한 숙제이다. 이것을 해결하는 방법은 열정을 가지고 정말 끊임없이 사진에 시간을 투자하여 많은 사진을 찍어봐야 한다. 노출 구도 초점에다가 '빛'을 보는 시각을 익힌다면 그야말로 자기만의 독특한 작품을 만들어 낼 것이다. 이번호에서는 빛의 방향에 따른 빛의 종류를 알아보도록 하겠다.

구성은 구도보다 넓은 의미로 쓰이며, 서로 구별되어져야 하지만 실제 사진예술에는 이 두가지가 상관하면서 주제를 표현하게 된다. 또한 구성이나 구도 모두 인간의 균형감각과 조화로움을 느끼는 시각에서 출발하게 되는데, 이는 어느 누구에게나 보편적인 감정을 유발한다. 이러한 기술들은 사진 기법들의 정확한 이해를 기반으로 응용하고 활용하면서 내 것이 되고 작품의 가치가 결정되는 것이다. 이번호에서는 두 번째 시간으로 사진의 구성과 구도에 대해서 알아보겠다.

In this paper, we propose the method that automatically corrects the composition of a picture stylishly as well as reliably by cropping pictures based on the Rule of Thirds. The region of interest (ROI) is extracted from a picture by applying the Saliency Map and the Image Segmentation technology, the composition of the photo is amended based on this area to satisfy the Rule of Thirds. In addition, since the face region of the person is added to ROI by the Face Detection technique and the composition is amended by the various scenario according to ROI, the little more natural picture is acquired. The experimental result shows that the photo of the corrected composition was naturally amended compared with the original photo.

In this paper, we propose the auto correction technique of photography composition by which the eye line is concentrated and the stable image of the structure can be obtained in case the general user takes a picture. Because the general user photographs in most case without background knowledge about the composition of the photo, the subject location is not appropriate and the unstable composition is contrasted with the stable composition of pictures which the experts take. Therefore, we provide not the method processing the image after photographing, but he method presenting automatically the stable composition when the general users take a photograph. The proposed method analyze the subject through Saliency Map, Image Segmentation, Edge Detection, etc. and outputs the subject at the location where the stable composition can be comprised along with the guideline of the Rule of Thirds. The experimental result shows that the good composition was presented to the user automatically.

In this paper, we propose a line composition based searching system which retrieves compositionally similar photo from the DB of the line-compositional photos. To develop the measure of compositional similarity, we carried out a survey to find which feature is discriminative for retrieving. Based on the results of the survey, we developed the measure of compositional similarity and it was applied the proposed searching system. We also show the results of the recall and the precision to evaluate the performance of the proposed system.

본 논문에서는 접사에서의 주요 객체 검출과 검출된 주요객체의 가장 최적화된 구도를 사용자에게 안내하는 방법을 제안한다. 대부분의 접사는 주요객체에 초점을 맞추고 배경이 되는 영역은 아웃 포커싱 기법을 사용하여 촬영한다는 점에서 착안하여 주요 객체를 검출하고 검출된 주요객체와 사진 구도의 3등분할점과 구도점의 상관관계에 대하여 계산하여 최적의 구도라고 판단되는 화면으로 사용자를 유도한다. 제안하는 방법으로의 실험했을 때 좋은 결과를 얻는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

사진이란 빛으로 그리는 그림이다. 카메라의 파인더로 보고 느낀 아름다움을 구도와 구성으로 담아서 적절한 빛을 이용하여 사진 안에 담는다. 풍경사진의 기본은 자연이 만들어낸 아름다움과 마주하게 되는 순간부터 시작이다. 아름답고 신비로운 곳으로 걸어 들어가면 카메라 렌즈 안으로 이미 풍경이 녹아든다.
