A Study on the Introduction of Raw Image File Formats for the Management of Digital Photographic Records (디지털 사진기록물 관리를 위한 Raw 이미지 파일 포맷의 도입에 관한 연구)

  • The study aims to analyze the characteristics and problems of raw image file formats, evaluate its suitability for the management of digital photographic records, and suggest the introduction method to utilize such format in public institutions. Raw image file formats feature reversibility and flexibility. However, most of them are proprietary file formats that depend on the digital camera manufacturer. The DNG format, which was developed to standardize raw image file formats, has received positive reviews from overseas public agencies. However, the DNG format is not fully recognized as a standard; hence, it is appropriate to use it tentatively until the standard raw format appears. On the other hand, the converted digital photo file format is not recognized as an original with legal authenticity. Therefore, in the short term, DNG files created by format conversion and original raw files should be encapsulated and preserved. Furthermore, it is necessary to redefine the baseline of the hash value and file size to recognize the legal authenticity only with DNG files in the long term.

  • Digital morph expresses the imaginary beyond the representation of reality by expressing the narrative effect characteristically. In particular, the effect of affect can be considered to be a characteristic of digital cinema as a post-cinema. In (2013), Morphing image prominently shows the characteristics of post-cinema. By actively utilizing software technology, this film gives a shocking effect by expressing the magical image. Paying attention to the post-cinematic characteristics of morphing different from classical film, this article treated the characteristics of digital morphing. The digital morphing presents the flow of affect visualizing uncanny phenomenon of body transformation. This evokes concept of neuro-image which Patricia Pisters distinguished the neuropsychiatric pathology that appears actively on the contemporary digital screen. The Neuro-image goes beyond the temporality of Deleuze's time-image presenting future. Allegedly, the morphing of presents the neuro-images when Nina's body changed to hybrid body with black swan. Digital Morphing technique provides a shocking effect, showing delirium when the body bizarrely deformed while dancing ballet. This is different from the attraction of the morphing in film, it expresses the emotion of the neoliberal era beyond representation. In conclusion, the digital morphing presents the neuro-image system modulating the shock. This shows the characteristics of digital film which interacting and controling the shock effect as post-cinema.

  • 본 논문은 인체 스캔 데이터를 예제 데이터베이스로 사용하여 2차원 사진으로부터 3차원 아바타 모델을 생성하는 기술을 제안한다. 직접 기하학적인 변형을 통해 3차원 아바타를 생성하는 기존의 방법들과는 달리, 미리 스캔한 다수의 3차원 인체 형상 모델 데이터베이스를 사용하여 사진에 나타난 실루엣과 가장 일치하도록 기본 모델을 변형 및 계산함으로써 모델을 획득한다. 본 연구는 예제 기반의 모델 변형 방법이 가지는 사실적인 인체 모델 생성의 장점, 2차원 사진을 이용한 방법이 가지는 텍스쳐 매핑 및 실루엣 정보 반영의 장정을 모두 가진다. 변형된 모델은 텍스쳐 매핑을 가한 후 애니메이션을 적용하여 가상환경에 활용할 수 있다.

Deep Learning based Color Restoration of Corrupted Black and White Facial Photos (딥러닝 기반 손상된 흑백 얼굴 사진 컬러 복원)

  • In this paper, we propose a method to restore corrupted black and white facial images to color. Previous studies have shown that when coloring damaged black and white photographs, such as old ID photographs, the area around the damaged area is often incorrectly colored. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a method of restoring the damaged area of input photo first and then performing colorization based on the result. The proposed method consists of two steps: BEGAN (Boundary Equivalent Generative Adversarial Networks) model based restoration and CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) based coloring. Our method uses the BEGAN model, which enables a clearer and higher resolution image restoration than the existing methods using the DCGAN (Deep Convolutional Generative Adversarial Networks) model for image restoration, and performs colorization based on the restored black and white image. Finally, we confirmed that the experimental results of various types of facial images and masks can show realistic color restoration results in many cases compared with the previous studies.

Estimating the Regularizing Parameters for Belief Propagation Based Stereo Matching Algorithm (Belief Propagation 기반 스테레오 정합을 위한 정합 파라미터의 추정방식 제안)

  • This paper defines the probability models for determining the disparity map given stereo images and derives the methods for solving the problem, which is proven to be equivalent to an energy-based stereo matching. Under the assumptions the difference between the pixel on the left image and the corresponding pixel on the right image and the difference between the disparities of the neighboring pixels are exponentially distributed, a recursive approach for estimating the MRF regularizing parameter is proposed. Usually energy-based stereo matching methods are so sensitive to the parameter that it should be carefully determined. The proposed method alternates between estimating the parameter with the intermediate disparity map and estimating the disparity map with the estimated parameter, after computing it with random initial parameter. It is shown that the parameter estimated by the proposed method converges to the optimum and its performance can be improved significantly by adjusting the parameter and modifying the energy term.

  • A basic role of sound is to give realism to the expressions on the screen or to highlight the images using exaggerated effect as a supporting role. In that way, sound effect makes it possible for audiences to naturally understand realistic images. However, the sound effect in movies is not real 'sound' in fact. Rather, sound effect is a separate cinematic tool that needs a separate direction to manipulate sounds in order to create appropriate effects for particular intention in the movie. While watching the movie, the audiences go through unique experience where they comprehend the manipulated world as the real world. Therefore, direction for sound effect must help deliver realism to the images by auditory factors. Thus, effective sound direction shall have precise and independent design for identification, reason and eurythmical match with the screen and occurred sounds shall be designed based on the subjective listening point to see who is actually listening.

  • 본 연구는 현재 활발하게 진행 중인 '벽화마을'의 문제점과 발전방향을 몇 개의 도시 사례를 중심으로 고찰한 것이다. 대표적인 벽화마을의 문제점은 그 지역의 정체성과 무관한 이미지들이 많이 그려지고 있고, 이에 비례하여 비슷한 벽화마을이 조성되고 있다는 사실이다. 벽화마을은 그 지역의 정체성을 기반으로 다양하게 이루어져야 한다. 또한 관광객들이 스마트폰을 이용하여 다양한 벽화마을을 검색할 수 있는 통합된 벽화마을 애플리케이션이 만들어져야 한다. 본 논문은 벽화마을의 디지털 콘텐츠의 필요성을 제기한 시안의 성격임을 밝혀둔다.

  • Video GIS is a spatial information system where video is used and integrated with map or other media such as 3D graphics, image, video, and satellite imagery. The information expressed by video, in nature, can provide realistic information. The connection of map and image of actual geographic object brings realistic visualization, which overcomes the limitation of conventional map-based GIS. In the suggested video GIS, location information is contained in video data and thereby enables two-sided searching, browsing, and analyses. In this paper, we suggest video GIS that integrates and manages video and map, and that constructs spatial information. We also develop a prototype system of video GIS in the field of roadside facility management, and show the results.
