Responses of Ricania sp. (Hemiptera: Ricaniidae) to light and Attraction to Capturing Device (갈색날개매미충(Ricania sp.) 성충의 광 선호성과 성충포획장치의 유인효과)

  • In order to effectively control the Ricania sp., we investigated the light response to adults and developed an adult capturing device using light with superior attractiveness. The preference among six light sources such as daylight color, green, etc. for the Ricania sp. adult was favored with daylight color 97 > black 79 = red 79 = blue 79 > green 24 > yellow 13. We have developed an adult catching device using the most preferred daylight colors and behavioral habits of the Ricania sp.. The capture device consisted of two daylight compact lamps (30W, 20W), a yellow plate, and a catcher using water, and caught about 700 individuals a day. The capturing device has a large amount of capturing because adult is activity at high nighttime temperatures, but the capturing amount decreased significantly when the temperature dropped below 23℃. More than 85% of the Ricania sp. adults were trapped for 3 hours from 19:00 to 23:00. Therefore, it is considered that the adult capturing device for the control of Ricania sp. is used from mid July to late August when the night temperature is over 23℃, and lights up from 19:00 to 23:00.

Manufacture of Dyed Recycling Wood Fiber Using Waste MDF (폐MDF를 이용한 염색재생섬유 제조)

  • This research was performed to use recycling wood fiber from waste MDF as raw materials for manufacturing of interior decorative accessories. Virgin fiber of Pinus rigida for manufacturing MDF and recycling fiber from manufactured MDF with virgin fiber were dyed by using reactive dyes (Bis-monochlorotriazine and Vinyl sulfone type), vat dyes (Anthraquinone type), direct dyes (Diazo type) such as red, yellow and blue, and natural dyes using gardenia or sappan wood, and they were examined to evaluate their dyeing properties and sunlight fastness. The hue of virgin fiber and recycling fiber were 4.2YR, and 4.4YR, respectively, which showed red-yellowish color. The recycling fiber looked a little darker than the virgin fiber, where $L^*$ values of the recycling fiber showed a little lower. Reactive, vat and direct dyes dyed well both the virgin and recycling fibers. The recycling fiber showed a little higher values of colour yield and a little lower in $L^*$, but it seemed that there was no significant difference. The Hue values of the recycling fiber and the virgin fiber dyed with sappan wood were 4.4YR and 4.0YR, showing no difference between/after dyeing. However the Hue values of the recycling fiber and the virgin fiber dyed with gardenia were 7.4YR and 6.9YR, respectively. Those values were much higher than the values of the fibers dyed with other chemical dyes. But the fibers dyed with gardenia showed poor sunlight fastness.

A Study on Sensibility Image of Necktie according to Width and Color Combination of Checked Pattern (체크패턴의 폭과 색채조합에 따른 넥타이의 감성이미지 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the sensibility image of necktie according to width and color combination of checked pattern. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimulus and response scales. The stimuli were 18 color pictures, in which the width(small: 0.2cm, medium: 1cm, large: 2cm), tone combination(similar, contrast), and hue combination(WR: white+red, WB: white+blue, WG: white+gray) were manipulated. The 7-point scale was used for evaluation of sensibility image. The subjects of this research were 216 female college students living in Gyeongnam. The investigation was carried out at September 2009. The data were analyzed by using SPSS program. Analysis methods were ANOVA and Duncan-test. The results of this study were as follows.; The analyses of sensibility for necktie according to width and color combination of checked pattern revealed that the concerned factors are five characteristic dimensions of attractiveness, youth, appeal, elegance, and warmness. Width showed an independent effect on appeal. Tone combination showed an independent effect on attractiveness, appeal, elegance, and warmness. Interaction effects of width and tone combination on attractiveness were found. Hue combination showed an independent effect on all dimensions. In addition, significant interaction effects of width and hue combination on attractiveness, youth, appeal, and elegance were found. Significant interaction effects of tone combination and hue combination on attractiveness, youth, and appeal were found.

Interferometric Color Display Using Micromechanically Coupled Digital Mirror Arrays (기계적으로 연동된 디지털 미소거울을 이용한 광간섭형 컬러 디스플레이 구현)

  • We present interferometric modulators that reproduce RGB colors through the selective actuation of mechanically coupled mirror arrays having identical air gaps. The conventional transmittive interferometric modulators need additional backlights, which leads to high power consumption. The previous reflective interferometric modulators using ambient lights need three different air gaps for reproducing the three RGB colors, thus giving rise to process complexity. For process simplicity, we propose the use of reflective interferometric modulators that are capable of producing green, blue, red, and black colors with the aid of mechanically coupled mirrors with identical air gaps. In an experimental study, the present interferometric modulators reproduce green, blue, and red colors at the switching modes (000), (010), and (101). The spectrum peaks for the colors are measured at the wavelengths $511{\pm}5nm$, $478{\pm}3nm$, and $644{\pm}9nm$, respectively, with the bandwidths being $60{\pm}1nm$, $45{\pm}2nm$, and $105{\pm}4nm$, respectively; further, the maximum intensities of the colors are $77{\pm}5%$, $73{\pm}2%$, and $81{\pm}5%$, respectively. The black spectrum is measured below the intensity of $27{\pm}0%$. Thus, we experimentally demonstrate the color reproduction capability of interferometric modulators fabricated by using a simple process.

Pattern Recognition Analysis for Volatile Compounds of the Whole, Skim, UHT-, HTST-, and LTLT-Milk under LED Irradiations (여러 가지 LED를 처리한 전지유, 무지방 우유, LTLT, UHT, HTST 처리 우유의 휘발성분 패턴 분석)

  • The objective of this study was to analyze the pattern recognition of volatile compounds from different types of milk under LED (Light Emitting Dioxide) irradiation for 6 d. Yellow, red, blue, dark, and fluorescent light were produced using LED equipment. A mass spectrometry-based electronic nose and DFA (discriminant function analysis) were used to determine the change in volatiles from different types of milk under LED irradiation. As the LED exposure time was increased, DF1 of whole milk changed considerably under blue light, while that of skim milk changed significantly under red and yellow light irradiation. Among the types of milk tested, the most light-induced oxidation sample was LTLT milk under blue light. The volatile compounds that were shown to increase due to LED treatment in the electronic nose analysis, which was based on MS, were mainly acetaldehyde, propanal, pentanal, hexanal, heptanal, nonanal, 3-methyl butanal, 2-methyl propanal, 2-butanone, 2-pentanone, 2-hexanone, and 2-heptanaone and 2-nonanone.

  • 앙드레 꾸레쥬는 자신의 디자인에 건축적 조형미를 표현한 대표적인 디자이너이다. 그의 디자인들은 라인 뿐 아니라 색채, 소재, 액세서리에 이르기까지 건물을 짓듯이 설계, 구성되어 있다. 최근 복식미의 건축적 조형성이 강조되고 있는 것을 감안할 때, 60년대 이미 선구자적인 역할을 하면서 자신의 건축가적인 기호를 유감없이 발휘해온 꾸레쥬를 연구한다는 것은 21세기를 향한 패션의 발전 측면에서 조금이라도 의미가 있지 않을까 생각한다. 본 연구에서는 앙드레 꾸fp쥬가 가장 활발히 활동했던 1974년에서 1970년까지 그의 디자인들을 집중 연구하였는데, 그의 패션디자인에 건축양식의 특징들이 어떻게 나타났는지에 연구의 초점을 맞추었다. 본 연구의 대상으로 사용된 실제의 옷 샘플들은 뉴욕 메트로폴리탄 예술박물관내의 Costume Institute Storage 에 있는 의복과 액세서리들을 직접, 관찰 , 분석한것이고 그 박의 사진들은 패션과 건축에 관한 서적과 잡지, 박물관내의 Slide Library , 그리고 Costume Institute Library Collection에서 발췌 , 비교 연구한 것이다. 일찍이 엔지니어링과 건축을 공부했던 앙드레 꾸레쥬는 50년대의 패션 디자이너의 거장 발렌시아가 밑에서 10년 넘게 일하다가 독립하였는데 그의 디자인 세계는 줄곧 여성들이 입고 편히 활동 할 수 있는 기능성을 강조하면서 단순하고 편안한 의복 구성에 중점을 두었다. 그리고 그는 이러한 자신의 패션 철학과 의복제작 과정들은 현대건물이 갖는 단순성, 기능성의 특징과 일치한다고 믿었다. A. 라인(Line) 앙드레 꾸레쥬는 패션 디자인에서의 비레는 건축에서구조를 쌓아가는 것과 같은 것이라고 생각하고 옷에서의 기본 구성을 기하학적인 라인에 두었다. 그래서 그의 옷들은 A-라인, 사각형, 사다리꼴,,, 등의 분명한 실루엣을 이루고 있는데 이러한 기본라인을 뒷받침이라도 하듯 소매가 아주 짧거나 없는 것이 특징이다. 황금분할이 아닌 1 : 1 구성은 그가 독특하게 사용한 비례방법의 하나인데 그것은 자켓과 스커트의 길이비례, 요크와 몸판간의 면적비례 등에서 잘 나타나고 있다. 그리고 그는 , 의복구성의 비례를 강조하기 위해 사용한 강한 색상의 대비를 현대건물의 인테리어에 빛을 사용하는 것과 같은 이치라고 설명한다. B.색상(Color) 흰색은 그러한 그의 비례강조 의복에 가장 적절한 색으로 사용되었다. 그는 빨강, 오렌지, 녹색, 분홍등 강렬한 원색을 사용하였는데도 불구하고 흰색은 그의 건축양식 발상의 Ideo를 완성시키는 완전한 색이었다. 뜨거운 날씨에 흰색이 가장 기능적인 색인 것처럼 강한 원색 대비를 통해 비례강조를 하면서 동시에 그것을 뒷받침하는 가장 합리적이고 기능적인 색은 흰색이라고 믿었다. C. 소재 (Material) 앙드레 꾸레쥬는 건물을 짓듯이 사람위에 옷을 건축한다고 믿었기 때문에 자연히 둔탁하고 딱딱한 소재가 많이 사용되었다. 비닐, 금속류, 시퀸스처럼 광택나고 투명한 재료 선호는 그 당시 현대 건축에서 선풍적으로 많이 사용되었던 유리, 금속류, 크리스탈 등 비치고 광택나는 건축재료와 일맥상통하는 것이다. 그러한 선국적인 내료 사용결과로 보여진 괴상하고 선정적인 그러면서도 아주 단순한 패션은 미래 지향적인 건축양식 구조의 " Simple", "Plain" 느낌과 정확하게 같은 것이다. 이상과 같이 앙드레 꾸레쥬는 옷을 디자인 했다기 보다는 건축했다. 주목할만한 점은 60년대 말 당시 발표되었던 그의 건축 구조적인 디자인의 특징들이 21세기를 앞둔 90년대에 다시 크게 유행하고있다는 점이다. 꾸레쥬 역시, 최근 자신의 디자인을 통해 건축적 조형미와 미래지향적 이미지를 더욱 강조하고 있는 것을 볼 수있다. 단순하면서 우주공간을 선회하는 듯한 입체적인 라인, 흰색을 비롯한 자연에 가까운 색을 중심으로 하되, 밝은 색조의 하이라이트, 플라스틱, 금속류와 같이 딱딱하고 광택나며 비치는 재료 사용,, 등등이 바로 그것이다. 그리고 이러한 그에 미래 지향적이고 조형적인 디자인들은 앞으로 어떻게 더 모험적인 모습으로 선보일지 우리 모두가 주목할만한 일인 것이다.

The Antioxidant Activity in Extracts of Symphyocladia latiuscula (보라우무 (Symphyocladia latiuscula) 추출물의 항산화활성)

  • The antioxidant activity of Symphyocladia latiuscula was determined by measuring lipid peroxide produced when a mouse liver homogenate was exposed to the air at $37^{\circ}C$, using 2-thiobarbituric acid (TBA) and radical scavenging effect on 1,1 - diphenyl - 2 - picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical, and free radical generation inhibition by $ACF_2$(Hepatocyte). The methanol extract of S. latiuscula showed high antioxidant activity. And the methanol extract was fractionated with several solvents. With regard their fractions, the antioxidant activity were in the order of dichloromethane > hexane > butanol > ethyl acetate > water fraction. The dichloromethane fraction showed the strongest radical scavenging activity ($50\%$ inhibitory concentration[$IC_{50}$]=3,14 $\mu$g/ml), and strong inhibitory effect on the lipid peroxidation of the mouse liver homogenate, which was compared with lascorbic acid, inhibition effect was stronger than Lascorbic acid. The methanol extract of S. latiuscula and its dichlromethane soluble fraction also inhibited over $50\%$ at concentration of 0.2 mg/ml and 0.1 mg/ml on free radical generation of hepatocyte ($AC_2F$). While the water fraction was inactive in all the assay for antioxidant activity.

A Study on the Fishing Efficiency of the Jigging Gear Neon Flying Squid , Ommastrephes Bartrami in the North Pacific (북태평양 빨강오징어 채낚기의 조획성능에 관한 연구)

  • Drift gillnet fishery for neon flying squid in the North pacific was one of the major pelagic fisheries of Korea until 1992, its annual catch was 79, 000M/T as average during 1988-1992, but moratoriumed since 1993 according to the decision of UN. Therefore, for the developing of the new fishing gear for the squid, the seven types of rip hook by automatic squid jigging machine were experimented by the korean research vessel Pusan 851 (G/T 1.126, 2.600 PS) in the North Pacific (38 $^{\circ}$30'-43 $^{\circ}$N, 152 $^{\circ}$E-178 $^{\circ}$W) from July 6. 1993 to August 31. 1993. The investigation on catch rate, dropout rate, and catch condition of the rip hooks related to the fishing lamp power for aggregating the squid were carried out during the period. The results obtained are as follows: The composition of catch by automatic squid jigging machine was 83.9% for neon flying squid. 15.5% for boreopacific gonate squid. 0.6% for boreal clubhook squid, and 0.01% for luminous flying squid. The catch rate of neon flying squid was 94.6% in 13.6-18.3$^{\circ}C$ of surface water temperature and 5.4% in others. The higher catch rate of neon flying squid was made in the range 13.6-18.3$^{\circ}C$ of temperature at the surface and about 1$0^{\circ}C$ of temperature at the 100m layer. The CPUE of neon flying squid in the 13.6-18.3$^{\circ}C$ of surface water temperature was ranged 0.8-11.8kg (8.7kg as average). The mantle length and body weight of neon flying squid caught in the experiment were ranged 18.3-51.3 cm, 140-3, 980g and mean mantle length and mean body weight were 29.4cm, 972g respectively. The catch rate of neon flying squid was the highest at dawn with a value of 25.0% of the total catch. The body weight of neon flying squid caught by the D type hooks was 1.7 times more than that of the A type hooks. The dropout rate of neon flying squid caught by the seven types hooks was 7.9-57.5% (19.0% as average), and dropout rate of the D type hooks was 7.9% with 2.7 times decrease than that of the A type hooks. The catch efficiency of small sized neon flying squid in case of using on-off switch method on fishing lamp in 15 minutes intervals was 2.6 times higher than that of the on-switch method with same fishing lamp power.

Conjoint Analysis of the Korean Floriculture Market for the Main Cut Flowers to Predict the Demand for Floriculture Plants (Conjoint 분석을 통한 주요 절화류의 소비 예측 분석)

  • This study was conducted to improve the consumption of floriculture plants by researching preferences of consumers for the main types of cut flowers. We analyzed the results of surveys, carried out by a company, that were largely about roses, chrysanthemums, and lilies. After departmentalizing consumers into groups and analyzing the results through conjoint and cluster analysis, we found that consumers showed a higher rate of use based on price and vase life than on flower color and flower shape in roses. The groups of rose consumers preferred a price of 1000 won, spray type flower shape, vase life of 7-8 days, and red flower color. In chrysanthemums, consumers showed higher rate of use for flower color than for vase life, flower shape, and price. The groups of chrysanthemum consumers preferred a price of 1000 won, standard flower shape, 16-20 days vase life, and yellow flower color. In lilies, consumers showed higher use rate for flower shape than vase life, price, and flower color. Lily consumers preferred a price of 2000 won, large flower shape, 4-7 days vase life, and yellow flower color. Thus, the major cut flowers (rose, chrysanthemum, and lily) all showed highest use rates in for vase life. These results highlight the importance of understanding the characteristics of consumer interests. They also emphasize that we should plan and create market-oriented and consumer-oriented products to improve the consumption of floriculture plants.

A Study on the Design Identity of Optical Shop Brands (안경원 브랜드의 디자인아이덴티티에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the design identity visual elements of optical shop brand$\underline{s}$ in order to provide objective data necessary for optical shop brands' design development. Methods: This study examined the design identity concept of the optical shop brands and analyzed visual elements of brand design identity with a focus on the symbols of domestic franchise optical shops, type of a symbol mark, representation style of logo type, color usage, use or non-use of character, etc. Results: Many symbols were directly associated with the eyeglasses, such as eyeglasses and eyes, face and iris. Along with that, letters or figures were also observed. For the type of symbol, most types were found to have the designs that took spherical and word mark shapes. Particularly, the word mark type had English words more often than Korean words. For logo types, the gothic format was dominant. In relation to the thickness of letter, thick boldface type was commonly used. The combination of 2 degrees was the color frequency used most often in the optical shop brand design. For the frequency of color usage, black and red colors were used most often. Particularly, the orange color, as well as the black color, was also often used for the main color of symbols or logo types. Meanwhile, the characters were used only in some optical shop. Most characters were animals and expressed in the cartoon and graphical forms. Conclusions: Typifier, symbol mark, logo type, color, and character are the elements forming the basic development system for brand design identity. Systematic design is needed which clearly ensures the function and role along with the mutual consistency as a important visual component of the optical shop brand.
