This paper describes an automatic landing approach algorithm for fixed-wing UAVs using waypoint guidance. The proposed algorithm utilizes simple 2D Dubin's vehicle pre-simulations in planning the waypoints for landing approach. The remaining time to reach the runway is also estimated in the pre-simulation, and it is used for altitude control. The performance of the designed algorithm was verified by simulations and flight tests.
The KSR-3 magnetometers consist of the fluxgate magnetometer (MAG/AIM) for acquiring the rocket flight attitude information, and the search-coil magnetometer (MAG/SIM) for the observation of the Earth's magnetic fluctuations. The position (latitude, longitude, and height) and flight condition (the transformation angle) of the rocket is measured after the data based on these two magnetometers are compared with IGRF The gap in the vector of magnetic field between the position of the launching point and an impact point is taken into account in data reduction. Angular variation of pitch, yaw, and roll can be researched when the data is applied to the coordinate system of the rocket.

A compact hydrogen generation device of fuel cell system using chemical hydride storage technique was designed to fit the propulsion device requirement of a small unmanned aerial vehicle(SUAV). For high efficient, compact, and lightweight hydrogen generation control device, the Co-B catalyst hydrogen conversion rate by $NaBH_4$ aqueous solution flux is measured so that the proper amount of Co-B catalyst for maximum hydrogen generation of 100W stack was proposed. A compact hydrogen generation device is controlled by pump's on/off using its own internal pressure and consumes fuel in high efficiency through a dead-end type fuel cell. The fuel cell system has stable operation for a planed flight profile. The system operates up to maximum 7 hours and at least 4 hours for tough flight profiles.

The Small Scale magNetospheric and Ionospheric Plasma Experiment (SNIPE)'s scientific goal is to observe spatial and temporal variations of the micro-scale plasma structures on the topside ionosphere. The four 6U CubeSats (~10 kg) will be launched into a polar orbit at ~500 km. The distances of each satellite will be controlled from 10 km to more than ~1,000 km by the formation flying algorithm. The SNIPE mission is equipped with identical scientific instruments, Solid-State Telescopes(SST), Magnetometers(Mag), and Langmuir Probes(LP). All the payloads have a high temporal resolution (sampling rates of about 10 Hz). Iridium communication modules provide an opportunity to upload emergency commands to change operational modes when geomagnetic storms occur. SNIPE's observations of the dimensions, occurrence rates, amplitudes, and spatiotemporal evolution of polar cap patches, field-aligned currents (FAC), radiation belt microbursts, and equatorial and mid-latitude plasma blobs and bubbles will determine their significance to the solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere interaction and quantify their impact on space weather. The formation flying CubeSat constellation, the SNIPE mission, will be launched by Soyuz-2 at Baikonur Cosmodrome in 2023.
This research illustrates how the hybrid engine system comprising of a two-cycle reciprocal engine with an integrated generator and a battery is prepared for the design process. The purpose of this research is to increase flight endurance taking advantage of the high energy density of hybrid propulsion systems as well as to cope with current environmental issues by reducing fossil fuel. The hybrid system is designed to offer 6 kW power, and the power can be adjusted by controlling the engine's RPM in accordance with load variations. In addition, the battery is adopted to offer extra electric power that this hybrid system cannot cover, and can function as the main power source in limited time in the case of an emergency situation. Besides that, the generator is directly mounted on an engine crank-shaft, and in turn, they can share the same RPM. Thus, it is hypothesized that this integration method can make a compact design possible by reducing space for the installation in the fuselage of UAVs.

A test section of a supersonic wind tunnel was designed for the analysis of flow characteristics over a backward-facing step with Mach 1.0 slot injection in a supersonic flow of Mach 2.5. The cavity flow of a high-speed vehicle is very complex at supersonic speed, so it is necessary to do experiments using supersonic wind tunnels to verify numerical analysis methods. The previous 2D symmetrical nozzle was replaced with an asymmetrical nozzle. The inviscid nozzle contour was designed using Method of Characteristics (MOC), and the boundary layer thickness correction was reflected by experimental data from the wind tunnel. The results were compared with a CFD analysis. The PID control system was changed to be based on the change of tank pressure. This improved the control efficiency, and the run times of supersonic flow increased by about 1 second. The flow characteristics over a backward facing step with slot injection were visualized by a Schlieren device. This equipment will be used for an experimental study of the film cooling effectiveness over a cavity with various velocities, mass flows, and temperatures.
This paper introduces 3-dimensional path planning and guidance including power model for high altitude long endurance (HALE) UAV using solar energy. Dubins curve used in this paper has advantage of being directly available to apply path planning. However, most of the path planning problems using Dubins curve are defined in a two-dimensional plan. So, we used 3-dimensional Dubins path generation algorithm which was studied by Randal W. Beard. The aircraft model which used in this paper does not have an aileron. So we designed lateral controller by using a rudder. And then, we were conducted path tracking simulations by using a nonlinear path tracking algorithm. We generate examples according to altitude conditions. From the path tracking simulation results, we confirm that the path tracking is well on the flight path. Finally, we were modeling the power system of HALE UAVs and conducting path tracking simulation during 48hours. Modeling the amount of power generated by the solar cell through the calculation of the solar energy yield. And, we show the 48hours path tracking simulation results.

Thermal behavior of spacecraft propulsion system utilizing monopropellant hydrazine ($N_2$$H_4$) is addressed in this paper. Thermal control performance to prevent propellant freezing in spacecraft-operational orbit was test-verified under simulated on-orbit environment. The on-orbit environment was thermally achieved in space-simulation chamber and by the absorbed-heat flux method that implements an artificial heating through to the spacecraft bus panels enclosing the propulsion system. Test results obtained in terms of temperature history of propulsion components are presented and reduced into duty cycles of the avionics heaters which are dedicated to thermal control of those components. The duty cycles are subsequently converted into the electrical power required in the operational orbit. Additionally, cyclic temperature of each component, which was made under thermal-balanced condition of spacecraft, is compared to the acceptable design range and justified from the viewpoint of system verification.

In this paper, based on the characteristics of proportional navigation, a composite guidance law is proposed for impact angle control of passive homing missiles maintaining the lock-on condition of the seeker. The proposed law is composed of two guidance commands: the first command is to keep the look angle constant after converging to the specific look angle of the seeker, and the second is to impact the target with terminal angle constraint and is implemented after satisfying the specific line of sight(LOS) angle. Because the proposed law considers the seeker's filed-of-view(FOV) and acceleration limits simultaneously and requires neither time-to-go estimation nor relative range information, it can be easily applied to passive homing missiles. The performance and characteristics of the proposed law are investigated through nonlinear simulations with various engagement conditions.
