Lateral and Directional SCAS Controller Design Using Multidisciplinary Optimization Program (통합 최적화 프로그램을 이용한 횡운동 SCAS 제어기 설계)

  • The flight controller should meet the flying qualities, stability margins, and time response requirement according to the class of a target aircraft or UAV. Classical design process of PID controller is a very time consuming process and needed trial and erros. The best way is to apply the multi-disciplinary optimization algorithm to meet the numerous constraints of controller requirements. This paper presents how multi-objective parameter optimization (CONDUIT) can be used to determine many design parameters of lateral stability and augmentation system for roll and heading controller of the small UAV. To verify the effectiveness of applying the optimization method, designed controller using optimization are compared with the baseline controller that is designed only considering the time responses.

  • As flying vehicle's speed is getting faster, the magnitude of aerodynamic heating is getting bigger. High-speed vehicle's exterior skin is heated to hundreds of degrees, and electrical equipments inside the vehicle are heated, simultaneously. Since allowable temperature of electrical equipments is low, they are vulnerable to effect of aerodynamic heating. These days, lots of techniques are applied to estimate temperature of electrical equipments in flight condition, and to make them thermally safe from heating during flight. In this paper, new model building technique for thermal safety analysis is introduced. To understand internal thermal transient characteristic of electrical equipment, simple heating experiment was held. From the result of experiment, we used our new building technique to build thermal analysis model which reflects thermal transient characteristic of original equipment. This model can provide internal temperature differences of electrical equipment and temperature change of specific unit which is thermally most vulnerable part in the equipment. So, engineers are provided much more detailed thermal analysis data for thermal safety of electrical equipment through this technique.

  • Optionally Piloted Vehicle is one of the UAV development technology and method, which can provide the economic and efficient unmanned system. Existing manned aircraft is evaluated through much flight operations and it can supply the reliable aircraft platform, engine and subsystems for operation. In addition, OPV can be operated both manned and unmanned vehicle to satisfy the mission requirement. under the certain flight conditions. This paper describes main development procedures for automatic flight control system of OPV and summarizes the technical issues and results.

  • 차세대 비행체가 갖추어야 할 요건으로 다양한 작동 범위에서 다목적으로 사용될 수 있어야 한다는 점이다. 비행체는 작전시 초음속으로 순항해야 하며, 폭탄으로 손상된 비행장에서도 이륙하여 작동할 수 있도록 짧은 이륙과 착륙 거리를 가져야 하기 때문에 현재 비행체보다 더 큰 받음각에서 작동하여 비행시 뛰어난 기동성을 가져야 한다. 제어력을 향상시키기 위해서 받음각과 동압에 의존하지 않고 큰 제어 모멘트를 제공하는 차세대 방법은 엔진의 배기가스를 원하는 비행 방향으로 제어하는 것으로 이러한 방법을 추력 편향 제어(Thrust Vector Control)라고 한다. 기존 공력에 의한 비행 자세제어 방법은 속도의 2승에 비례하는 제어력을 발생하지만, 실속을 피해야하기 때문에 공기력을 이용한 날개 및 비행체의 받음각에 한계가 있어 비행체의 선회능력을 제한하며 고공에서 저속비행 하는 경우에는 공기의 밀도가 낮고 동압이 작게 작용하여 선회능력은 낮아진다. 그러나, 추력 편향 장치는 공력을 이용하지 않고 추력을 이용하기 때문에 실속에 의한 제한이 없어 큰 받음각(70$^{\circ}$-90$^{\circ}$)으로 선회할 수 있어 월등한 기동성을 발휘할 수 있다. 이러한 추력 편향 장치 중 제트 베인형은 소형화가 가능하고, 하나의 노즐로 수직, 수형 및 횡 방향의 3축 제어를 할 수 있어 많이 사용되고 있다.

  • The forces and moments at the aircraft c.g. have components due to aerodynamic effects and to engine thrust. For the flight stability and autopilot systems we present a attitude control method using an intelligent control algorithm Which is based on the control rules from experts knowledge concerning the motion equations and other experiences. Then a robust fuzzy controller is developed to control the flight attitude. The controller can deal with multiple inputs and outputs. We have made an aircraft model and the orientation sensor for experimental flights. The control rules based on the flight expert s experience and knowledge can be programmed by fuzzy rules, and determined control rules by experimental flight. We can be stable attitude control by fuzzy controller.

  • 공군 조종사들이 비행 중에 겪는 지속적이고 강도 높은 소음은 조종사의 생리적(physiological) 및 심리적(psychological) 상태에 부정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 이는 조종사의 비행 능력(performance)에 부정적인 영향을 주게 되며 임무 완수 및 비행 안전을 저해시키는 치명적인 결과로 이어질 수 있다. 대한민국 공군은 조종사들의 청력 보호를 위해 수동 소음 감쇠(Passive Noise Cancellation, PNC) 및 능동 소음 감쇠(Active Noise Cancellation, ANC) 기술이 적용된 헤드셋 및 헬멧을 사용 중이다. 그러나, 소음 저감 기술이 조종사의 청력 보호, 비행 능력, 및 비행 안전에 미치는 효용성에 대한 공군 조종사의 인식은 아직 연구된 바가 없다. 따라서 본 연구는 소음과 관련된 이론적 배경을 고찰하였고, 이후 설문조사를 통해 공군 조종사들(n=154)의 조종석 내 소음 및 소음 감쇠 기술에 대한 인식을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 능동 소음 감쇠(ANC) 기술이 적용된 헤드셋 및 헬멧의 사용은 소음이 조종사의 생리적 상태에 미치는 영향에는 유의미한 효과가 없지만(p=0.402), 심리적 상태에 미치는 영향은 유의미하게 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다(p<0.001). 따라서, 능동 소음 감쇠(ANC) 기술이 적용된 비행 헤드셋 및 헬멧 사용의 필요성을 강조하였고, 이를 통해 조종사의 비행 능력(performance) 저하 방지 및 비행 안전 증진에 기여하고자 한다.

  • Flight software operated on the on-board computers in the satellite has requirements such as real-time and high reliability. These requirements make dependency between the flight software and operating environments. Further, whenever a new system is built, such problem drives that all flight software are redeveloped. Thus, the dependency between them should be removed. And the work can be achieved by improving the portability of the flight software. In this paper, we propose a platform architecture based on the IMA architecture. The platform architecture is a hybrid one built by blending two kinds of realizations of the IMA architecture in order to maximize portability. In addition, we implement a prototype system and analyze the execution results of the system to justify the proposed architecture. The proposed architecture enables us to remove the dependency between fight software and operating environments.

  • A multi-rotor vehicle is an unmanned vehicle consisting of multiple rotors. A multi-rotor vehicle can be categorized as tri-, quad-, hexa-, and octo-rotor depending on the number of the rotors. Multi-rotor vehicles have many advantages due to their agile flight capabilities such as the ability for vertical take-off, landing and hovering. Thus, they can be widely used for various applications including surveillance and monitoring in urban areas. Since multi-rotors are subject to uncertain environments and disturbances, it is required to implement robust attitude stabilization and flight control techniques to compensate for this uncertainty. In this research, an advanced nonlinear control algorithm, i.e. sliding mode control, was implemented. Flight experiments were carried out using an onboard flight control computer and various real-time autonomous attitude adjustments. The feasibility and robustness for flying in uncertain environments were also verified through real-time tests based on disturbances to the multi-rotor vehicle.

  • This paper presents the results of the design, fabrication and tether test for a gross weight 20 kg tilt-duct VTOL aerial robot. The tilt-duct vehicle, a tri-ducts air-vehicle, which composed of two main tilt ducts for thrust and an aft-fan for pitch attitude control, has been developed as an aerial platform. The research on the air vehicle has been focused on the hover characteristics and controllability to improve the thrust and stability. The tether test for measuring various performance of vehicle and evaluating controllability have been carried out to figure out effects of modified main-prop linkage, actuator, duct configuration and control surfaces.

  • This is a comparative study of three inertia navigation units and focuses on the verification of reliability about GPS/INS for the SmartUAV(DGNS). Those GPS/INS have been tested using a manned aircraft and an automobile. The comparative aspect of units include details about the GPS positions and the inertia sensor performance. With the flight scenario, the DGNS guarantees the reliability of the navigation operation and performs the flight test for the development of the SmartUAV.
