중성자방사화분석을 이용한 사용후핵연료 중 요오드 정량

  • 사용후핵연료시료 중에 함유된 요오드(I-127 및 129)를 정량하기 위하여 화학적 방법으로 분리 회수하고 중성자방사화분석법을 이용하였다. 사전실험으로 모의사용후핵연료를 이용하여 회수율을 측정하였다. 모의 및 실제사용후핵연료시료를 $90^{\circ}C$에서 8 M $HNO_3$ 용액으로 용해하고 용해 후 용해용액 중의 잔류 요오드, 응축 및 휘발된 요오드 각각을 정량하였다. 응축 요오드는 핵연료 용해 후 재증류하여 회수하였다. 잔류 및 응축 요오드는 시료의 산화상태를 조절한 후 용매추출로 요오드를 회수한 다음 이온교환 또는 침전법으로 방사화학적으로 분리한 후 중성자방사화분석(RNAA)으로 정량하였다. 제작한 이온교환분리관 및 여과키트에 요오드를 흡착 또는 침전시켜 분리한 다음 중성자조사를 위한 삽입체(Insert)로 이용하였다. 휘발 요오드는 제조한 흡착체(Ag-silica gel)를 담은 흡착관에 포집하고 홉착체를 구간별 균질시료로 만든 다음 비파괴중성자 방사화분석(INAA)으로 정량하였다. 침전 및 흡착 요오드의 화학적 특성을 EPMA(electron probe microanalysis) 분석으로 조사하였다. 요오드 정량결과를 다른 방법으로 비교분석하기 위하여 음이온교환수지상에서 요오드를 정제 및 회수하기 위한 용리거동을 조사하였다.

Current Status and Analysis of Durability for Buildings Long Neglected after Construction Discontinuation in Jeju (제주지역 공사중단 건축물의 현황조사 및 내구성 분석)

  • Buildings that have been long neglected can suffer severe durability reduction due to factors such as rebar rust and concrete quality deterioration resulting from exposure to outside air. Furthermore, the issues associated with these suspended buildings, including safety accidents, social crimes, and environmental pollution, are becoming increasingly serious. This study investigates the current status of these buildings in the Jeju area, identifies the problems, and examines the durability of the structure in a specific location to assess the possibility of future use. Aesthetic surveys(visual and slope inspections) as well as non-destructive tests(compressive strength tests, neutralization tests, and rebar detection tests) were conducted to assess durability. The analysis revealed that the structure maintained satisfactory durability and the building's condition was good in comparison to the years of neglect.

Non-Destructive Precise Electromagnetic Surveying for the Deep Underground Utilities (고심도 지중매설물의 지하측랑을 위한 비파괴 정밀 전자측량)

  • Lots of various utilities are buried under the surface. The effective management of underground utilities is becoming the very important subject for the harmonious administration of the city. Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) survey including other various underground survey methods, is mainly used to detect the position and depth of buried underground utilities. However, GPR is not applicable, under the circumstances of shallow depth and places, where subsurface materials are inhomogeneous and are composed of clay, salt and gravels. The aim of this study is to overcome these limitations of GPR and other underground surveys. High-frequency electromagnetic (HFEM) method is developed for the non-destructive precise deep surveying of underground utilities. The method is applied in the site where current underground surveys are useless to detect the underground big pipes, because of poor geotechlical environment. As a result, HFEM survey was very successful in detecting the buried shallow and deep underground pipes and in obtaining the geotechnical information, although other underground surveys including GPR were not applicable. Therefore this method is a promising new technique in the lots of fields, such as underground surveying and archaeology.

Characteristics and Influence of Scattering Radiation in Cultural Heritage Radiography (문화재 방사선 조사에서 발생하는 산란 방사선의 특성과 영향)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of scattering radiation, which was not considered in the cultural Heritage radiography, by evaluating the relationship between the tube voltage (unit: kVp), film-floor-distance(FFD), and lead screen layout. The density (unit: D) of the test specimens and the scattered radiation increased with the tube voltage. The density of the test specimens showed an average deviation of 1.4 D; it was 0.17 D at 60 kVp, 1.54 D at 160 kVp, and 2.97 D at 220 kVp. The mean density of the scattered radiation was 0.10 D at 60 kVp, 0.40 D at 160 kVp, and 0.46 D at 220 kVp. The density tended to increase when the tube voltage ranged between 60 kVp and 160 kVp, as the FFD distance increased. However, a change in the permeation density was not observed for high voltages(160 kVp-220 kVp). Scattered radiation was observed when FFD was 50 mm, 100 mm, and 200 mm and no lead screen was used and the bottom surface was replaced with the lead screen. No scattered radiation was observed when FFD was 0 mm. The identification rate ranged from 2.08% to 2.67%, according to the FFD, for a 160 kVp tube voltage, and from 2.67% to 3.33% for a 220 kVp tube voltage.

Applicability of the Small-Loop EM Method in the Sallow Marine Environment (천해 환경에서 소형루프 전자탐사의 적용성)

  • The small-loop electromagnetic (EM) method is one of the rapid and non-destructive geophysical methods and has been used widely for many geophysical investigations, particularly for shallow engineering and environmental surveys. Especially in the shallow marine environment, the small-loop EM technique is very effective because of rapid and convenient data acquisition, large signal and low noise level. However, the method has been rarely applied in the very conductive marine environment since it's penetration or investigation depth might be considered too low. In this study, we demonstrated that the small-loop EM method can be effectively applied in the extremely conductive marine environment through the analysis of 1D small-loop EM data. Furthermore, we confirmed that the resistivity distribution under the sea bottom can be quantitatively predicted from the 1D inversion results of synthetic and field data.

Directivity Analysis of Ultrasonic Wave Reflected from the Artificial Defect in Simulated Butt Welded Joint (가상 용접부내의 결함으로부터 반사된 초음파의 지향성 해석)

  • The ultrasonic non-destructive testing uses the directivity of the ultrasonic pulse wave which propagates in one direction. The directivity is expressed as the relationship between the propagate direction and its sound pressure. The directivity of ultrasonic wave is closely related to determination of probe arrangement, testing sensitivity, scanning pitch and defect location and characterization. The paper measured the directivity of shear wave, which reflected from artificial defect located in weld metal zone in butt welded joint similar model made of pyrex glass by using visualization method. 2 MHz and 4 MHz angle probes were used to measure the directivity of reflection wave at the artificial defect. The directivity of shear waves reflected from the defect was different according to the probe position and the shape of butt welded joint. The difference of directivity of reflection wave was existed between 2 MHz and 4 MHz angle probes. The angle of reflection wave became equal to angle of incidence as increase of the height of excess metal.

Study on the Interanal Physical Changes of Kiwi Fruit Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technique (자기공명영상 기술을 이용한 저장 중 키위의 내부 변화 연구)

  • 농산물 수확 이후 저장 유통 과정에서 일어나는 생리적 현상 변화에 따른 내부품질의 측정 분석연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이 연구에서는 비파괴 측정 방법들 중 하나인 자기공명영상(Magnetic Resonance Imaging, MRI) 기술을 활용하여 후숙 과일인 키위의 저장 일수에 따른 형태 및 내부 구조의 변화를 조사하였다. 공시재료는 국내에서 판매되고 있는 키위들 중 3품종(뉴질랜드산 Sun Gold, 뉴질랜드산 Green, 칠레산 Jin Green)별로 균일한 크기의 과일 5개씩을 이용하였으며, 시료를 실험실내($16.6^{\circ}C$, 38% RH)에서 18~19 일간 보관하면서 3~5일 간격으로 5회 시험하였다. 전북대 농업과학기술연구소가 보유하고 있는 MRI(M10, Aspect Imaging, Israel)를 활용하여 영상 이미지를 얻었으며, 저장 기간에 따른 무게 감소는 전자저울(한성, HK-series)을 이용하였다. 자기공명영상 이미지는 Gradient-Eco 펄스열을 사용하였고, 횡단면(Axial)의 영상면(Image-direction)을 중심으로 영상영역(Field of View, FOV)은 $80mm{\times}80mm$로 1회 촬영 할 때 마다 30개의 영상들을 얻었다. 저장 기간이 길어질수록 내부 공동현상이 커지는 것으로 나타났고, 뉴질랜드산 Sun Gold 품종은 다른 두 품종보다 내부 공동이 빠르게 나타났다. 실험이 끝나는 날에는 껍질이 연화되어 타원형의 형체를 계속 유지하지 못하고 붕괴되는 이미지를 MRI를 통해서 관찰 할 수 있었다. 시간이 지남에 따라 영상들의 위치가 일정하지 않고 일부 회전을 한 것처럼 나타났다. 이는 키위 전용 홀더를 만들어 고정하지 않고 측정하다보니 생긴 오차로 생각 되었다. 키위를 건조한 공간에 오래 보관하였기 때문에 시간이 지남에 따라 수분증발과 연화된 껍질 사이로 과육이 흘러 일부를 제외한 대부분의 키위 무게가 일정하게 감소하는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Application of Near Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy in Quality Evaluation of Domestic Rice (한국산 쌀의 품질측정에 있어서 근적외분광분석법의 응용)

  • The applicability of near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) to determine moisture, protein, fat and amylose content of domestic rice was studied. The standard error of prediction (SEP) of moisture, protein, fat and amylose in polished rice was 0.014, 0.196, 0.098 and 1.427%, and those SEP of brown rice was 0.12, 1.226, 0.153 and 1.923%, respectively. It is concluded that the NIRS method allowed to detect the content of moisture and protein in rice samples with fair precision comparing conventional analysis, but the accuracy for determining amylose and fat was not acceptable.

  • The piezoelectric composites had many advantages in comparison with conventional piezoelectric ceramics and piezopolymers for ultrasonic transducers used in NDT and in medical ultrasionic imaging. The electromechanical coupling coefficient should be high and the acoustic impedance should be low in these applications. However, the cross-coupling with spurious oscillations caused by laterally running plate waves exhibited complex motions in the surface of piezoelectric composites with coarse lateral spatial scale. The thickness mode electromechanical coupling coefficient of 1-3type of piezoelectric compoistes were 0.36 to 0.64, and the acoustic impedance of them were 9.8 to 22.7 MRayl. The lateral resonance frequency of 1-3 type piezoelectric composites shifted to high frequency region with decreasing lateral spatial scale.

Signal Characteristics of Multi-coil Probe for the Test of Reinforcement Embedded in Concrete (다중 코일에 의한 콘크리트내의 철근 탐지 시 신호 특성)

  • This study suggests a rebar detection technique for simultaneous detection of size and cover of embedded reinforcement in concrete. The structure of the probe made in this study is somewhat different from commercial ones. This probe has three sensing coils. Rebar size and cover depth can be evaluated by detecting and analyzing the signal from them. Amplitude and phase variation of each coil in the probe was investigated using an impedance analyzer and the loci of transfer functions of the coils were analyzed. The locus of transfer function from the sensing coil positioned inside excitation coil was simple as well known, but the others from the coils outside excitation coil were not so. Actual experiment on rebar detection was performed with our probe and an eddy current test system for various rebar sizes and depths. The signal shape according to variation of cover depths showed the same tendency with the transfer function loci acquired by impedance analyzer. The different variation pattern of signal enabled to evaluate rebar size and cover depth simultaneously.
