Image Coding Using Bit-Planes of Wavelet Coefficients (웨이블렛 변환 계수의 비트 플레인을 이용한 영상부호화)

  • This paper proposes an image compression method using the wavelet transform and bit-plane coding of wavelet coefficients. The hierarchical application of wavelet transform to an image produces one low resoluation(the subband with lowest frequency) image and several high frequency subbands. In the proposed method, the low resolution image is compressed by a lossless method at 8 bits per each coefficient. However, the high frequency subbands are decomposed into 8 bit planes. With an adptive block coding method, the decomposed bit planes are effectively compressed using localized edge information in each bit plane. In addition, the propsoed method can control bit rates by selectively eliminating lessimportant subbands of low significant bit planes. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme has better performance in the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and compression rate than conventional image coding methods using the wavelet transform and vector quantization.

A Steganography based on Bit Plane using Similarity (유사도를 이용한 비트플레인 기반의 스테가노그라피)

  • In this paper, we proposed a new method of the steganography based on bit plane using similarity. Applying a fixed threshold, the insert information into all bit planes showed different image quality. Therefore, we first defined the bit plane of block similarity to solve the fixing threshold problem. We then proposed a new method using the Bit Plane complexity and similarity to insert information into bit planes of block. In the experiment, we inserted information into the standard images with the same image quality and same insertion capacity. Finally analyzed the insertion capacity and image quality. As a result, the proposed method increased the insertion capacity of about 6% and improved the image quality of about 3.3dB than fixing threshold method.

  • In this paper, we proposed an adaptive steganography of color image using bit-planes and multichannel characteristics. Applying fixing threshold, if we insert information into all bit-planes of RGB channel, each channels showed different image quality. Therefore, we first defined the channel weight and the bit-plane weight to solve the fixing threshold problem of BPCS (bit-plane complexity steganography) method. We then proposed a new adaptive threshold method using the bit-plane weight of channels and the bit-plane complexity of cover image to increase insertion capacity adaptively In the experiment, we inserted information into the color images with the same image quality and same insertion capacity, and we analyzed the Insertion capacity and image quality. As a result, the proposed method increased the insertion capacity and improved the image quality than BPCS method.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new method of the Adaptive steganography using complexity on bit planes of color image. Applying fixing threshold and variable length, if insert information into all bit plans, all bit plans showed different image quality. Therefore, we first defined the complexity on bit plane and data complexity, similarity insert information into bit plans. As a result, the proposed method increased the insertion capacity and improved the image quality than fixing threshold and variable length method.

  • 본 논문은 비트 플레인의 위치에 따라 정보 삽입량에 대한 주관적이고 고정적인 임계치가 아니라 비트 플레인의 가중치를 고려하여 각 영상의 비트 플레인별 적응적인 임계값에 따라 최대 정보량을 삽입하고 추출하는 알고리즘을 연구하였다. 다양한 이미지를 대강으로 고정 임계값을 적용하는 기존의 방법과 영상의 특징에 따라 비트 플레인별 임계값이 적응적으로 산출되는 제안한 방법에 대해서 최대용량을 측정하고, 같은 양의 정보를 삽입한 후 화질을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 기존의 방법보다 용량면이나 화질면에서 나은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • In this study, we try to make up for the vulnerability in steganography that it is easily revealed the hidden logo image in cover image by bit-plane extraction. For this, we apply some methods, the permutation which shift the scattered pieces of logo image to one side, bit-plane dispersion insertion method and pack-type compressor.

  • 이 논문에서는 비디오 장면 전환 효과 중 디졸브(dissolve)에 의한 장면 전환 구간을 검출 하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 압축 영상으로부터 최소한의 복원 과정을 거쳐 얻은 DC 영상의 비트플레인 특성을 이용하여 디졸브 구간을 검출한다. 실험을 통하여 제안된 기법이 효과적으로 디졸브 구간을 검출하는 것을 확인하였다.

We then proposed a new adaptive threshold method using the bit plane weight and the average complexity to increase insertion capacity adaptively. In the experiment, we inserted information into the standard images with the same image quality and same insertion capacity, and we analyzed the insertion capacity and image duality. As a result, the proposed method increased the insertion capacity of about 6% and improved the image quality of about 24dB than fixed threshold method.

  • 움직임 추정(motion estimation)은 압축 부호화나 영상 안정화 시스템, 비젼 시스템 등과 같은 동영상 처리에 있어서 핵심 기술 중의 하나이다. 그러나 기존의 전역 탐색(brute-force) 알고리즘과 같은 움직임 추정 기법은 방대한 양의 계산을 필요로 하기 때문에 처리 시간이 커지고, 하드웨어로 구현하였을 때 회로가 복잡해진다는 문제점을 안고 있다. 본 논문에서는 비트 플레인(bit-plane)에서의 정합을 이용하여 움직임을 추정하는 새로운 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법에서는 기존의 전역 탐색 알고리즘을 하나의 비트 플레인으로부터 추출한 이진 영상에 적용함으로써 움직임 추정에 소요되는 계산량을 크게 줄이면서도 우수한 움직임 추정 성능을 갖도록 하였다. 실험 부분에서는 동영상으로부터 카메라의 이동으로 인한 전역적인 움직임을 추정하는데 제안된 기법을 사용한 결과를 제시하였다. 특히 제안된 기법은 비트 플레인을 선정하는데 있어서 적응 기법을 적용하였기 때문에 조도 변화 등과 같은 열악한 환경에서도 안정적으로 동작한다는 것을 실험을 통하여 보였다.

Lossless Coding of Audio Spectral Coefficients Using Selective Bit-Plane Coding (선택적 비트 플레인 부호화를 이용한 오디오 주파수 계수의 무손실 부호화 기술)

  • In this paper, new lossless coding method of spectral coefficients for audio codec is proposed. Conventional lossless coder uses Huffman coding utilizing the statistical characteristics of spectral coefficients, but does not provide the high coding efficiency due to its simple structure. To solve this limitation, new lossless coding scheme with better performance is proposed that consists of bit-plane transform and run-length coding. In the proposed scheme, the spectral coefficients are first transformed by bit-plane into 1-D bit-stream with better correlative properties, which is then coded intorun-length and is finally Huffman coded. In addition, the coding performance is further increased by applying the proposed bit-plane coding selectively to each group, after the entire frequency is divided into 3 groups. The performance of proposed coding scheme is measured in terms of theoretical number of bits based on the entropy, and shows at most 6% enhancement compared to that of conventional lossless coder used in AAC audio codec.
