  • The most expensive spatial operation in spatial databases is a spatial join which computes a combined table of which tuple consists of two tuples of the two tables satisfying a spatial predicate. Although the execution time of sequential processing of a spatial join has been so far considerably improved, the response time is not tolerable because of not meeting the requirements of interactive users. It is usually appropriate to use parallel processing to improve the performance of spatial join processing. However, as the number of processors increases, the efficiency of each processor decreases rapidly because of the disk bottleneck and the overhead of message passing. This paper proposes the method of task allocation to soften the disk bottleneck caused by accessing the shared disk at the same time, and to minimize message passing among processors. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method in terms of the number of disk accesses and message passing, we conduct experiments on the two kinds of parallel spatial join algorithms. The experimental tests on the MIMD parallel machine with shared disks show that the proposed semi-dynamic task allocation method outperforms the static and dynamic task allocation methods.

  • 액화천연가스(LNG : Liquified Natural Gas)는 연료로 사용하기 위하여 기화하는 과정을 거치게 되는데 기화하는 방식에는 해수에 의한 기화와 공기에 의한 기화의 두 가지 방식으로 나뉘게 된다. 해수에 의한 기화는 LNG 인수기지에서 대량의 LNG를 NG로 기화하기 위하여 사용하며, 공기에 의한 기화는 LNG 위성기지에서 사용처에 적합한 온도를 얻기 위해서 일반적으로 많이 사용하고 있는 공기식 기화기를 이용하여 기화를 하는 방식을 취하고 있다. LNG가 NG로 기화하는 과정에서 1kg당 200kcal의 냉열을 외부로 방출하고 있으며, 이러한 냉열의 방출로 인하여 공기식 기화기의 표면에 결빙현상을 발생시킨다. 또한 현재 사용하고 있는 기화기는 $2{\sim}3$개의 기화기를 연결하여 사용하고 있어 그 비용의 손실이 크다고 할 수 있다. 그리하여 본 연구는 최근 사용빈도가 증가하고 있는 공기식 기화기에 관한 것으로 작동유체는 실제 LNG와 특성이 비슷한 초저온 액화가스인 $LN_2$를 사용하였다. 이번 연구에 사용된 변수는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 각각의 기화기의 길이를 4000mm, 6000mm, 8000mm으로 하였고 핀의 type을 finless, 4fin, 8fin으로 하여 적용하였다. 두 번째는 봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울철에 따른 기화기의 성능을 알고자 각각의 계절별 온도와 습도를 적용하였다. 마지막으로 계절별 풍속과 실험을 하는 시간 동안의 유량을 알고자 압력을 1 bar로 적용하였다. 그리하여 이번 연구의 목적으로는 각각의 변수를 통하여 실험을 진행 한 후 vaporizer type과 길이에 대한 최적의 성능을 가지는 기화기에 대한 자료를 제시하고자 한다.기성분은 균주에 따른 약간의 차이가 있었으나 경향은 비슷하게 나타났다. 이상의 결과 알코올 발효 균주에 따른 참다래 와인의 이화학적 품질특성에는 큰 차이가 없었으나 고급알코올함량을 비교하였을 때 Sacch. cerevisiae Wine 3이 와인제조에 가장 적합한 것으로 평가되었다.장 낮은 값을 나타내었으며, 홍국의 함유량이 증가할수록 유의적으로 증가하였다. b값은 CSB가 가장 낮은 값을 나타내었으며, 홍국의 함유량이 증가할수록 유의적으로 증가하였다. 물성측정 결과 경도와 응집성은 각 시료들 간의 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 탄력성과 부서짐성은 CSB가 가장 낮았으며, 홍국의 함유량이 증가할수록 증가하였다. 점착성은 SDB1이 가장 낮았으며, 홍국의 함유량이 증가할수록 증가하였다. 관능검사 결과 기공의 균일성은 SDB1이 가장 균일한 것으로 나타났으며, 색은 홍국의 함유량이 증가할수록 높게 나타났다. 경도, 탄력성, 단맛 및 신맛 등은 홍국 함유량이 증가할수록 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 이취는 SDB1이 가장 적게 나는 것으로 나타났으며, 전반적인 기호도는 SDB1이 가장 높았다. 따라서 홍국을 10% 첨가한 sourdough starter를 3일 동안 발효한 후 반죽에 첨가하여 sourdough bread를 제조할 때 품질이 가장 우수한 제품을 얻을 수 있었다.생수와 여러 물질의 혼합용액의 온도가 장에 끼치는 자극에 차이가 있지 않나 추측되며 이에 관한 추후 연구가 요망된다. 총대장통과시간의 단축은 결장 분절 모두에서 줄어들어 나타났으나 좌측결장 통과시간의 감소 및 이로 인한 이 부위의 통과시간 비율의 저하가 가장 주요하였다. 이러한 결과는 차가운 생수 섭취가 주로 결장 근위부를 자극하는 효과를 발휘하는 것이 아닌가

Comparison and Optimization of Flux Chamber Methods of Methane Emissions from Landfill Surface Area (매립지 표면의 메탄 발산량 실측을 위한 플럭스 챔버의 방법론적 비교와 최적화)

  • As one of the most cost-effective methods for surface emission measurements, flux chamber method has been used worldwide. It can be classified into two types: SFC (with slope method) and DFC (with steady-state method). SFC (static flux chamber) type needs only simple equipment and is easy to handle. However, the value of flux might vary with SFC method, because it assumes that the change of concentration in chamber is linear with time. Although more specific equipments are required for DFC (dynamic flux chamber) method, it can lead to a constant result without any ambiguity. We made a self-designed DFC using a small and compact kit, which recorded good sample homogeneity (RSD < 5%) and recovery ( > 90%). Relative expanded measurement uncertainty of this improved DFC method was 7.37%, which mainly came from uncontrolled sweep air. The study shows that the improved DFC method can be used to collect highly reliable emission data from large landfill area.

Evaluation on Tie Point Extraction Methods of WorldView-2 Stereo Images to Analyze Height Information of Buildings (건물의 높이 정보 분석을 위한 WorldView-2 스테레오 영상의 정합점 추출방법 평가)

  • Interest points are generally located at the pixels where height changes occur. So, interest points can be the significant pixels for DSM generation, and these have the important role to generate accurate and reliable matching results. Manual operation is widely used to extract the interest points and to match stereo satellite images using these for generating height information, but it causes economic and time consuming problems. Thus, a tie point extraction method using Harris-affine technique and SIFT(Scale Invariant Feature Transform) descriptors was suggested to analyze height information of buildings in this study. Interest points on buildings were extracted by Harris-affine technique, and tie points were collected efficiently by SIFT descriptors, which is invariant for scale. Searching window for each interest points was used, and direction of tie points pairs were considered for more efficient tie point extraction method. Tie point pairs estimated by proposed method was used to analyze height information of buildings. The result had RMSE values less than 2m comparing to the height information estimated by manual method.

  • The decommissioning of nuclear power plants is generally executed in five steps, including preparation, decontamination, cutting/demolition, waste disposal and environmental restoration. So, for efficient decommissioning of nuclear power plants, worker safety, effects compared to cost, minimization of waste, possibility of reuse, etc., shall be considered. Worker safety and measurement technology shall be secured to exert optimal efficiency of nuclear power plant decommissioning work, for which accurate measurement technology for systems and devices is necessary. Typical In-Situ methods for decommissioning of nuclear plants are CZT, Gamma Camera and ISOCS. This study used ISOCS, which can be applied during the decommissioning of a nuclear power plant site without collecting representative samples, to take measurements of the S/G Water Chamber. To validate the measurement values, Microshield and the GEANT4 code was used as the actual method were used for modeling, respectively. The comparison showed a difference of $1.0{\times}10^1Bq$, which indicates that it will be possible to reduce errors due to the influence of radiation in the natural environment and the precision of modeling. Based on the research results of this paper, accuracy and reliability of measurement values will be analyzed and the applicability of the direct measurement method during the decommissioning of NPPs will be assessed.

A Study on Analysis and Design Improvement of Opening Angle of Duct Cap of Ice Dispenser for Refrigerator (냉장고 얼음 디스펜서 덕트 캡의 개방각도 해석 및 설계개선에 관한 연구)

  • The opening angle of the duct cap assembly during the operation of a refrigerator ice dispenser was evaluated by transient structural analysis, and an improved design to maximize the opening angle was obtained. The opening angle of the existing design was found to be 78% of the upper limit. Several design modifications were proposed and analyzed to examine the effects of the design factors on the opening angle. As a result of the design modifications, the opening angle was improved by changing the lever material to a material with a high elastic modulus, moving the position of the support to the motor side, or increasing the lever shaft diameter. Considering the manufacturing cost of the new design, the design modification changing only the lever material was found to be the best because it does not require a change in the structure of the ice dispenser case. In conclusion, the opening angle can be improved by up to 95% of the upper limit value if the lever material is changed to an aluminum alloy. The methods and results presented in this study were found to be of great help in designing the duct cap assembly structure to facilitate the discharge of ice.

Activities to Reduce the number of No-Show Patients with Colonoscopy appointments (대장내시경 검사 부도관리를 위한 개선활동)

  • 문제: 소화기병검사실에서 대장내시경 검사의 부도건수가 최근 월 200명 정도로 예약인원의 16%에 달한다. 이는 본원 외래진료 부도율이 평균 10%인 것과 비교할 때 상당히 높은 결과이므로 대장내시경 예약환자를 대상으로 부도율 관리를 위한 활동이 필요하였다. 목적: 외래 및 입원환자의 부도건수 및 부도환자의 특성을 분석하고, 개선활동을 통하여 대장내시경 검사의 부도율을 줄인다. 의료기관: 서울 아산병원. 질 향상 활동: 부도관리를 위한 개선활동으로 SMS 횟수를 2주전, 4일전, 1일전 3회로 변경하고, 내용도 각 시기마다 차별화하였다. 대장내시경 검사 예약을 하고 기다리는 환자를 대상으로 처방일 순, 예약 날짜순서 등 필요한 항목 순으로 볼 수 있는 리스트가 필요하여 예약대기 프로그램을 개발하였고, 처방일로부터 2주 이내 자동예약을 금지하였다.(7월 10일부터 시작) 예약대기명단에 있는 환자를 대상으로 전화로 예약 변경을 하여 2주 이내에는 예약의 빈자리가 없도록 하였다. 미리 부도를 예측하여 추가로 예약하던 방법에서 정원조정을 하여 정원 외 추가 예약을 하지 않았다. 입원환자 일정관리를 위하여 일정관리 프로그램을 개발하여 타과의뢰 회신을 하는 전임의가 직접 날짜를 전산에 입력하여 회신과 동시에 검사실, 담당주치의, 담당 간호사가 모두 일정을 확인할 수 있도록 하였으나 프로그램이 늦어져 9월 12일부터 시행하였다. 개선효과: 부도건수가 개선 전 8주 동안 385건(예약인원 대비 16%) 에서 개선 후 6주의 평가기간 동안 256건(예약인원대비 14.1%)으로 129건이 감소하였으며, 검사 1-2일전 일정 변경 연락 환자 감소 및 검사 비용 수납 환자의 부도건수가 감소하였다. 대장내시경 검사 예약대기 프로그램 운영 및 예약 변경 전화 활동으로 2달씩 기다리던 환자의 예약일을 약 한 달 정도 단축하여 줄 수 있었다. 검사 정원 관리의 결과로 검사 예약 시 예약기준이 명확해지고, 부적절한 예약으로 인한 검사지연 등이 확실히 줄었다. 또한 입원환자 일정관리 프로그램 적용으로 입원환자의 검사일정과 관련된 전화업무는 확실히 줄어들 것으로 예상된다.

  • In the benefits of ITS, there are intangible gains from real-time traffic information as well as classical gains such as travel time saving. These intangible gains are difficult to be estimated by existing transportation investment appraisal commonly used in SOC investment. The major reason is not because of the absence of methodology but because of the absence of generalized values of particular benefits from real time traffic information. This research explores the value of real-time traffic information on VMS that is the most representative of ITS services, by using CVM with Double Bounded Dichotomous Choice Question. Willingness-To-Pay (WTP) functions of drivers are built with survival functions using various types of probability distribution functions such as Exponential, Log-logistic, and Weibull functions. The results reveal that Log-logistic distribution is the most appropriate distribution model to estimate WTP, and the estimated coefficients are stable through LR (Likelihood Ratio) test. For the further study, it is recommended to perform statistical tests of temporal and spatial transferability that is not examined in this research due to the lack of data.

  • Conventional proxy web cache, which is generally used to caching server, is a content-copy based system. This method focuses on speeding up the phase delivery not improving the webserver performance. However, if immense clients attempt to connect the webserver simultaneously, the proxy web cache cannot achieve the desired result. In this paper, we propose the web accelerator called the SCALA-AX, whitch improves web server performance by accelerating the delivery contents. The SCALA-AX is built in the Linux-based kernel as a kernel modulo and works in combination with the conventional webserver program. The SCALA-AX speeds up the processing rate of the webserver, because it processes the requests using the kernel thread. The SCALA-AX also applies the well-developed cache algorithm to the processing, and thus it obtains the advantage of the caching server without installing additional hardware. A banchmarking test demonstrates that the SCALA-AX improves webserver performance by up to 500% for content delivery.

Valuing the Risks Created by Road Transport Demand Forecasting in PPP Projects (민간투자 도로사업의 교통수요 예측위험의 경제적 가치)

  • The purpose of this study is to calculate the economic value of transport demand forecasting risks in the road PPP project. Under the assumption that volatility of the road PPP project value occurs only in regard with uncertainty of traffic volume forecasting, this study calculates the economic value of the traffic forecasting risks in the case of the road PPP project. To that end, forecasted traffic volume is assumed to be a stochastic variable and to follow the Geometric Brownian motion as time passes. In particular, this study attempts to differentiate itself from existing studies that simply use an arbitrary assumption by presenting the application of different traffic volume growth volatility and the rates before and after the ramp-up period. Analysis of the case projects reveals that the risk premium related to traffic volume forecast of the project turns out as 7.39~8.30%, without considering option value-such as minimum revenue guarantee-while the project value volatility caused by transport demand forecasting risks is 17.11%. As the discount rate grows higher, the project value volatility tends to decrease and volatility in project value is always suggested to be larger than that in transport volume influenced by leverage effect due to fixed expenditure. The market value of transport demand forecasting risk-calculated using the project value volatility and risk premium-is analyzed to be between 0.42~0.50, implying that a 1% increase or decrease in the transport amount volatility would lead to a 0.42~0.50% increase or decrease in risk premium of the project.
