Dynamic Modeling and Analysis of a Friction Damper in Drum-type Washing Machine with a Magic Formula Model (Magic Formula 모델을 이용한 드럼세탁기용 마찰댐퍼의 동역학적 모델링과 해석)

  • In this paper, the magic formula model was applied for a friction damper in a drum-type washing machine. To describe characteristics of the hysteretic damping force, Physical tests were first carried out to get experimental results using an MTS machine. Then, parameters for the magic formula model were determined from the experimental curves. The ADAMS and MATLAB programs were used for the multibody modeling of the damper and process for parameter identification. The model of drum-type washing machine was applied for a dynamic model of friction damper, in which the accuracy of the proposed damper model was verified.

  • A three-parameter model of viscoelastic damper, which has a non-linear spring as an element is incorporated into an oscillator. The behavior of the damper model shows non-linear hysteresis curves which is qualitatively similar to those of real viscoelastic materials. The motion is governed by three-dimensional non-linear dynamical system of equations. The harmonic balance method is applied to get analytic solutions of the system. The frequency-response curves show that multiple solutions co-exist and that the jump phenomena can occur. In addition, it is shown that separate solution branch exists and that it can merge with the primary response curve. Saddle-node bifurcation sets explain the occurences of such non-linear phenomena. A direct time integration of the original equation of motion validifies the use of the harmonic balance method to this sort of problem.

  • As a seismic damper the viscoelastic damper is known the effective method to control the drift of the flexible building. As the viscoelastic damper has the characteristics of both damping and stiffness specially when the rubber material used hysteretic damping. The behavior of the hysteretic damping is quite different from that of the viscous damping.   • Wind induced vibration of a stay cable with a nonlinear friction damper is investigated. Stay cables are likely to vibrate under several wind-related environments, and cable dampers can be used to suppress the excessive vibrations of stay cables. Conventional design of cable dampers are based on the equivalent modal damping achieved by the cable damper. However, the equivalent modal damping achieved by nonlinear dampers are depend on the vibration characteristics like the amplitude of the vibration. In this paper, not only the achieved equivalent modal damping, but also the vibration levels under gust wind are analyzed through the time domain buffeting analysis. Numerical simulation results show the efficacy of a nonlinear friction damper for suppressing the excessive vibration of a stay cable.

  • This study is about earthquake-proof reinforcement through structural function evaluation of an school building. The purpose of this study is to comparatively analyze structure reinforcement measures in consideration of safety and usability through structural function evaluation of school buididng, to offer rational measures for earthquake-proof function and to provide help in maintaining safe structures against earthquake. For this purpose, was selected for this study as an existing school building, earthquake-proof function evaluation was conducted, and measures to reinforce earthquake-proof function was offered. As for the research method, the first and the second earthquake-proof function evaluations were conducted which is an existing reinforced concrete school building. Through the abovementioned methods, earthquake-proof function evaluation were conducted, the results were analyzed and the measure to reinforce earthquake-proof function were offered(Steel damper, Carbon plate stiffeners). The offered measure to reinforce earthquake-proof function was applied to the subject structure, and comprehensive results were derived from earthquake-proof function evaluation regarding before and after earthquake-proof function reinforcement.

  • It is essential to perform driving performance tests of military vehicles on rough terrain. A full car test is limited by cost and time constraints, because of which a dynamic analysis via computer simulation is preferred. In this study, a vehicle model is developed using MSC.ADAMS, a commercial multibody analysis program, and compared via experiments. FTire is modeled using the results of a tire performance test to obtain the vertical stiffness. A nonlinear damper is modeled by a characteristic experiment. Leaf springs are modeled with beam force elements and consisted to a vehicle model. The vertical force and acceleration response of the wheel are identified when vehicle is passing over a simple bump as well as a sinusoidal road. The developed vehicle model is verified with the results of a full car test.

  • 자동차 엔진의 주기적인 연소과정 동아네 생성된 힘에 의해 엔진의 크랭크 샤프트에 회전 불균일성이 나타난다. 이것은 엔진 플라이휘일 부분에 비틀림 변동토크를 발생시키고, 이 토크는 클러치를 통하여 변속기의 인풋기어(input gear)에 전달되어 변속기에 비틀림 진동을 일으키는 주요 원인이 된다. 공회전시 변속기에서 기어의 충돌은 주로 이 비틀림 변동토크에 의해 발생하며, 이 충돌은 차내 소음의 원인이 된다. 또한 엔진의 경량화 및 고출력화에 따른 회전수 변동의 증가는 비틀림 변동토크를 증가시켜 변속기에 커다란 진동을 초래한다. 시뮬레이션을 사용한 클러치 비틀림 기구의 적절한 특성치를 구하는 것은 클러치 설계에 효율적이고, 이미 여러 연구 결과들이 보고되었다. H.Arai은 2자유도 비선형 모델을 사용하여 클러치 접속시 발생하는 외란과 계의 안정성을 고려하여 치타음 저감을 위한 시뮬레이션을 수행하였고, S.Ohnuma은 비선형 2단 비틀림 특성을 가진 클러치 디스크의 설계에 대해서, 그리고, T.Fujimoto와 R.J.Comparin는 치타음의 발생구조와 특성을 고찰하고 비선형 비틀림 공진 저감에 의한 치타음 저감 기법에 대하여 연구하였다. 그리고, Wu Hui-Le는 자동차 동력전달계의 비틀림 진동 현상을 실험과 이론적인 계산을 통해 연구하였고, G.J.Fudala는 다자유도 모델을 이용하여 클러치의 비틀림 특성에 따라 주파수분석을 수행하여 치타음 저감 방법을 연구하였다. 또한, T.Sakai는 5자유도 모델을 이용하여 엔진 공회전시 발생하는 치타음에 대해 이론과 실험을 통해 해석하고, 엔진 회전수 변동, 클러치 특성, 변속기의 드래그(drag) 토크의 영향과 치타음 저감을 위한 개선된 클러치 특성을 제시하였다. 클러치는 동력을 전달 또는 차단하는 기능 뿐만 아니라 엔진이나 변속기에서 발생하는 소음이나 진동을 저감시키는 기능을 가지고 있다. 따라서 엔진 공회전시에 발생하는 치타음(rattle noise)이나 비틀림 진동을 저감시키는 방법으로는 여러가지가 있으나 클러치 디스크(clutch disc)의 비틀림 기구의 설계 인자들을 적절히 조절함으로써 변속기의 인풋기어에 전달되는 비틀림 진동을 저감시키는 방법이 일반적으로 수행되어지고 있다. 본 연구는 4 실린더 4 싸이클 1.5L 엔진을 장착한 경승용차의 실차실험을 통해 공회전시 엔진 플라이휘일과 인풋기어에서의 회전수 변동을 측정하고, 이 실험 데이타를 기초로 하여 엔진 토크 및 변속기에서의 드래그 토크를 계산하여 엔진-변속기 인풋기어의 반한정계 2자유도 진동모델과 비틀림 특성을 가진 클러치 디스크의 프리댐퍼 영역에 대해 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 클러치 비틀림 기구의 설계인자인 비틀림 강성, 히스테리시스 토크에 따른 비틀림 진동 저감 효과를 연구하고자 한다.

  • This study offers a design procedure of optimum cable damper for multi-mode vibration control with nonlinear damper and also investigate the relation between mode and amplitude dependency. The proposed multi-mode damping index, which is defined as a energy loss ratio of cable potential, is a main component of optimization problem of optimum nonlinear damper. In order to include the amplitude dependency of nonlinear damper, it is assumed to exist three kinds of multi-mode patterns such as ambient vibration, support excitation and rain-win induced vibration. The optimum damper exponent depends on amplitude patterns. In case of ambient vibration, optimum factor is less than 0.5. In case of support excitation or rain-wind induced vibration is between 0.5 and 1.0. In this study, the effects of cable sag and inclination angle are included in the asymptotic design equation of damped cable structures.

  • The paper introduces Multi-Platform Analysis (MPA) for the seismic performance of a structure controlled by Magneto-Rheological (MR) dampers and presents analytical assessment of the effect of MR damper when taking into account nonlinear behavior of the structure. This paper introduces the MR Damper Plugin that can facilitate communication between MATLAB/Simulink and a finite element analysis tool in order to account for more complex inelastic behavior of the structure with MR dampers. The MPA method using the developed MR Damper Plugin is validated with experimental results from the real-time hybrid simulation. By utilizing the proposed MPA method, the three-story RC structure controlled by MR dampers is more realistically modeled and its performance under seismic loads is investigated. It is concluded that MR damper designed for a linear structure is not effective in a nonlinear structure and can overestimate the effect of MR damper. This work is expected to overcome difficulties in the analytical assessment of structural control strategies for complex and nonlinear structures by obtaining more reliable results.

Examination of Seismic Performance for Structure with Seismic Members made by High Strength Steel (고강도강 내진성능 향상부재를 적용한 건물 성능 비교)

  • Seismic members like damper do not have any treatment of preventing story stiffness reduction after elastic yielding of stories causing story collapse. This paper suggests a method able to prevent story stiffness reduction using high-strength steel. This paper suggests these also : (1) High-strength steel stud column reinforcing story stiffness reduction until story drift 0.02rad can be designed in small area without adjusting layout. (2) Suggested seismic member installing at lowest level shows effects to preventing deformation concentration under huge seismic waves.
