Internal Capital Market and the Investment Behaviour of Chaebols (내부금융시장과 기업의 투자행동 : 5대 재벌을 중심으로)

  • 본 논문은 5대 재벌 계열사들의 투자행태를 분석하였다. 5대 재벌 계열사들을 상장기업과 비 상장기업으로 나누어 분석하면 비상장기업의 투자는 내부현금흐름에 영향을 받고 상장기업에 비해 계열사 현금흐름에 영향을 받는 정도가 큰 것으로 나타나고 있다. 5대 재벌 계열사들을 종속기업과 비종속기업으로 나누어 분석하면 종속회사의 투자가 비종속회사에 비해 계열회사 현금흐름에 영향을 받는 정도가 큰 것으로 나타나고 없다. 본 논문의 분석결과는 5대 재벌의 경우 비상장회사와 종속회사가 다른 계열사들로부터 자금지원을 받는 형태로 내부금융시장이 작동하고 있다는 것을 보여주고 있다.

  • This study suggests the direction to narrow down the difference between financial and tax accounting in relation to borrowing costs. Accounting for capitalization of borrowing costs under accounting standards for non-public entities should be revised to converge into KIFRS. The provision of corporate income tax law relating to capitalization of borrowing costs should be applied on the optional basis rather than compulsory application especially for non-public entities. The range of qualifying assets for capitalization under the tax law should be reviewed to comply with KIFRS.

  • 최근 이동전화를 이용한 무선인터넷, IMT-2000의 화상전화서비스 등 무선 Multimedia의 시대가 도래하고 있다. 그러나. 3G 서비스를 시작한 유럽, 일본의 서비스 사업자들은 막대한 앙 설치비용으로 꿈의 이동전화서비스가 활성화되기 전에 자금 압박으로 몸살을 알고 있다. 이동전화서비스는 유한한 자원인 주파수 밴드를 얼마나 효율적으로 사용하느냐가 양사업자들의 성공과 실패를 가름하는 경쟁력의 무기로 작용한다. 이러한 주파수를 효율적으로 사용할 수 있는 방법 중에 몇 년 전부터 스마트안테나가 제조사, 서비스사업자는 물론 학계의 비상한 관심을 모으고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이동전화서비스 사업자 입장에서 스마트안테나를 현장적용 시험을 통해 시스템 용량증대에 효과가 있는지 확인하고자 한다.

An In-depth Study on the Characteristics of Defaulters (30대 기혼 채무 불이행자의 특성에 관한 심층연구)

  • There are few studies on the characteristics of defaulters, though research in this field is needed. The purpose of this study was to find out social, economic and psychological characteristics of defaulters who are married and in their thirties. For this study, an in-depth interview was used. The major findings were as follows. The focus of this study is defaulters who are married, in their thirties, have managed small businesses by themselves or with their spouses and have experienced job fluctuation. There were a lot of reasons for their becoming defaulters. Most of all, a slump in business with the occurrence of individual events caused them to be enrolled as defaulters. The monthly mean income of defaulters was $1,800,000{\sim}5,000,000$ won, yet it was irregular. Moreover, they were dependent upon labor income or business income. The monthly mean expenditure of defaulters was $1,000,000{\sim}2,300,000$ won, which constituted about $26%{\sim}57.5%$ of their monthly mean income. The defaulters needed to budget a number of expenditures such as food and private education. Defaulters had $25,000,000{\sim}128,000,000$ won in debts and $300,000{\sim}3,000,000$ won per month in debt payments. Most of them didn't have any emergency funds, monetary assets or fixed assets. Interestingly, they showed high tendency to use debt and low skill for their money management. Defaulters had short time horizons and were likely to buy something on the spur of the moment.

A Study on Determinants of the Number of Banking Relationships in Korea: Firm-specific Determinants and Effects of Business Cycle (우리나라 기업의 거래은행 수 결정요인에 관한 연구: 경기변동의 영향을 포함하여)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the determinants of the number of bank relationships in Korea. Firm-specific determinants considered here include leverage, size, age, return on asset, investment grade, tangibility, liquidity, R&D expenditure. We estimate the effects of these variables, and compare the results with those from previous studies performed for other economies. Concerning the effects of business cycle, we find that the business cycle is an important factor in determining the number of bank relationships. The number of bank relationships varies over the business cycle, and we notice a counter-cyclical behavior, which means the number decreases during economic expansions and increases during contractions. This result can be interpreted as a result of firms' diversification of borrowings into multiple banks in order to reduce the liquidity risk during the recession. In the subsets, however, the number of bank relationships for large firms is stable regardless of the business cycle. Unlisted firms, non-chaebol, and low credit quality firms which have relatively limited access to alternative sources of financing show counter-cyclical behavior. Finally, such phenomena is not observed in the non-competitive credit market, while they show a counter-cyclical behavior in the competitive credit market.

  • I focused on LVTS compare with Fedwire to advance a research effects in this paper. The Fedwire Funds Service is generally used to make large-value, time-critical payments. The Federal Reserve Banks provide the Fedwire Funds Service, a real-time gross settlement system that enables participants to initiate funds transfer that are immediate, final, and irrevocable once processed. The Fedwire Funds Service is a credit transfer service. While, The LVTS(Large Value Transfer System) is the high value electronic wire system that facilitates the transfer of irrevocable payments in canadian dollars across the country. Through LVTS, funds can be transferred between participating financial institutions virtually instantaneously in a fully collateralized environment. Thus in this article, first of all, I considered features of payment system between LVTS and Fedwire. Second, I analyzed the governing structure and legal background. Third, I focused on the operational policy and risk aversion policy. Lastly, I suggested that the payment and banking system have to assume, with good reason, more efficiently accurately and securely operation together with conclusion.

A Study on Institutional Foundation on the Korea Counter-Terrorism System (한국 테러대응 시스템의 제도적 구축방안)

  • This study looks at plans for the efficient functions of the current terror response system in Korea. The results are derived from by comparing and analyzing American, British, German, Japanese, and Korean terror response systems. It focuses especially on addressing some problems with Korea's terror response system and how to operate it effectively. The study will systematically compare and analyze each nation's terror countermeasure studying organizational, functional, and legal aspects as standards. This study shows that there is not an exclusive terror response center in Korea compared with other nations such as America, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan. Also it is difficult to expect effective and vigorous operations due to weak cooperation across the relevant organizations. The presidential directive of the state's anti-terrorism action guidelines is legally ineffective. This means that on legal grounds, it is difficult to take actions to prevent the terrorism. Therefore, keys to counteracting terrorism derived from this study are summarized below. In the first place, an integrated terror response system should be set up for expansion of information sharing which leads to emergence effect. In the second place, the superior legislative systems should be made for the cleardefinition and extent of what the terror is, rigid enforcement of investigation, immigration, and keeping an eye on the funds raised by terrorists and tracking down the terrorists, the plan for eco-terrorism. In the third place, to augment security of vital facilities and peoples' awareness of terrorism safety should be emphasized and a cooperative system between civil and government organizations need to be built. In the fourth place, system for crisis management must be provided in an effort to maximize management system of terrorism and unify a decentralized emergency countermeasures effectively.

  • This paper aims to define Mecius's people-care theory(保民論), and aims to recognize the characteristics of social security contained in Mecius's people-care theory. Mecius considered to the public relief as King's obligation. So to speak, the King protects to the property of the people. Especially his people-care theory implicate to continuity of safety life, a relief fund on the property, protection of disaster damage. Continuity of safety life means to enabling the people procurable food, clothing and bury dead persons without difficulties. It's may be said that implicated to the theory and system of modern social-welfare. It is reason for his opinion that a state should construct in the minimum social safety network by taking responsibility for basis needs of life. He was a humanist so much. He thought about the pursuit of the human happiness and the improvement in quality of life. Therefore his idea nearly means to the social security system in a modern sense. His thought is not only an ideal background on the public assistance and a social relief security in the contemporary but also a relief activity system such as Jindaebup called historical prototype of social welfare. It is an important fact that his people-care theory implicate to social security system.
