  • This paper describes an development of digital power supply for ship's emergency lighting system(SELS). Proposed system is composed of emergency power supply system(EPSS), half bridge(HB) inverter, fluorescent lamp(FL) starting circuit and microprocessor control system. Experimental works using proposed system confirm that speedy and stable power to be supplied when main power source cut-off, compared with conventional analog type, and control input power up to 35.0[%] by adjusting pulse frequency of the HB inverter.

  • This paper describes the improvement of power control characteristics of ship's emergency lighting power supply(SELPS), by which electric power is controlled extensively, and power ON-OFF is controlled and system parameter monitored in remote distance by PC serial communication. Proposed system is composed of step-down converter(SDC), emergency power supply circuit(EPSC), half bridge(HB) inverter, fluorescent lamp(FL) starting circuit, microprocessor control and multi communication circuit. Experimental works confirm that relative system stops when over current is detected and speedy and stable emergency power is supplied when main power source cut-off, and controls input power up to 35[$\%$] by adjusting pulse frequency of the HB inverter, and ON-OFF control of multiple SELS, real time transmission and monitor of parameters as to voltage, current, and power values are performed appropriately by PC communication.

  • Small electric vehicles, such as electric bicycles or electric kickboards, operate with the power charged in a battery mounted in the vehicle, and some of these users use emergency power sockets installed in apartments or public facilities without getting permission. For this reason, the necessity for a simple method to approve the use of power with instant payment system rises for the building managers and small vehicle users as well. In this paper, we propose a technique to charge batteries for small electric vehicles with less than 1 [kW] through a power supply control device installed on the existing 15 [A]. sockets on the common residential properties or public buildings. It also describes the power user authorization algorithm and how to charge fees for the power used. As a result of this research, this paper shows how the user authentication power supply system with the effect of preventing power theft can be realized by creating an environment in which a battery in a small electric vehicle can be easily charged.

  • AC electric railroad system receives its power from 3-phase transmission system. Since trainloads are moving continuously, the voltages for the single load fluctuate in the train garage, and moreover, the fluctuating voltages generate high-order harmonics. This means the difficulty in maintaining power quality in the power system. Therefore, in this paper, the adequacy of SVC application is investigated for the train garage in KNR(Korean National Railroad). Voltage drop, voltage regulation, and unbalanced voltages are assessed in the train garage for the condition of power system both with svc and without SVC. In this paper, PSCAD/EMTDC is used for the above assessment items, and the results are compared with ones which was already designed in the field in practice for the train garage. As a result, the train garage using SVC improves power quality.
