Thermodynamic Analysis of the Diabatic Efficiency of Turbines and Compressors (터빈과 압축기의 비단열 효율에 대한 열역학적 해석)

  • Thermodynamic analysis is conducted on the first-order approximation model for turbines and compressors. It is shown that the adiabatic efficiency could be greater than unity, depending on the entropic mean temperature, entropy generation, thermal reservoir temperature, and heat transfer. Therefore, adiabatic efficiency applied to a diabatic control volume results in an error overestimating its performance. To resolve this overestimation, it is suggested that a reversible diabatic process be referred to as an ideal process to evaluate diabatic efficiency. The diabatic efficiency suggested in this work is proven to always be less than unity and it is smaller than the exergy efficiency in most cases. The diabatic efficiency could be used as a more general definition of efficiency, which would include adiabatic efficiency.

  • 비단은 비만을 기초로 한 당뇨병의 초기상태이며, 당내량 손상(IGT)은 당대사가 정상과 당뇨병 사이에 있는 아건강 상태를 말한다. 비단의 병인병기와 임상특징은 당내량 손상과 기본적으로 일치한다. 당내량 손상은 비만환자가 비단을 거쳐 당뇨병으로 발병되는 자연발전과정으로 비단과 당내량 손상의 공통적인 발병인소는 비만이며, 그 병리중심은 비위(脾胃)기능실조로 인한 당내량 이상으로 중의(中醫) 증형(證型)에 있어 허실(虛實)변화가 있다. 비단과 비만형 IGT 증후, 병리방면에서의 발생과 발전의 작용을 탐구하여 조기에 중약(中藥)을 사용하면 체중을 감소시키고 더 나아가 당뇨병을 예방하는데 중요한 임상의의가 있다.

  • 비단가리비 (Korean scallop, Chlamys farreri)는 가리비과 (Family Pectinidae)에 속하는 부채모양의 패류로서, 1970년대 상반기부터 다량 어획되어 어민들의 소득증대에 크게 기여하였다. 그러나, 1980년대 중반부터는 자원의 감소로 인해 생산량이 급격히 감소하여 최근에는 소량 어획되고 있다 (국립수산진흥원, 1996). 비단가리비에 관한 연구로는 국립수산진흥원에 의하여 수행되었던 흑산도 근해 비단가리비의 분포생태에 관한 연구 (1973)와 비단가리비 자원조사(1995,1996) 결과만이 있을 뿐 생물학적 기초연구는 매우 부족한 실정이다.   • 본 연구에서는 학습기능을 갖는 결정론적 볼츠만 머신에 비단조 뉴런을 이용하여 학습 성능을 수치 시뮬레이션을 통하여 분석한다. 먼저 네트워크의 은닉층에 비단조 및 단조뉴런을 이용한 경우에 대하여 각각 활성화 함수로 시그모이드 함수와 end-cut-off 타입의 비단조함수를 사용한 경우에 대하여 성능을 비교한다. 또한, VHDL을 이용해 설계한 DBM 네트워크에 시그모이드 함수와 end-cut-off 타입의 비단조함수를 사용한 경우에 대하여 시뮬레이션을 통해 수치 시뮬레이션과 성능이 같은지 비교하고 그 유용성을 입증한다.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate color pattern and growth in cross progenies between kois and red common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Coverage of red color patches in skin was investigated in $koi{\times}koi$ (KK), $koi{\times}red$ common carp (KR) and red common $carp{\times}koi$ (RK) progenies in 170 days post-hatching (DPH) by analysis of digital photographs. KR cross group had higher length (P<0.05) and the mean weight than in the KK but there were no significant difference between KR and RK. All groups consisted of three color pattern white, white-red and red. The percentage of red-area coverage in skin was 64% in KK progenies, 56% in KR and 36% in RK. The red coverage (30~50%) was highly in KR (15%) than in KK (10%) and RK (12%). The application of red-area body coverage analysis may suggest potentially useful tool for ornamental fish selection.

  • This study is to develop a Korean version of nonword intervention by modifying and supplementing a Rapid syllable transition treatment (ReST) and to determine its effect by applying it to children with CAS. Ultimately, the purpose of this study is to investigate whether nonword interventions are effective for nonword production ability and generalization of real words. Single-subject research using the ABA design was performed for a child aged five years and six months with diagnostic features of CAS. The nonwords used in the interventions were made suitable for the individual child. The intervention was provided in one-hour sessions, twice a week for six weeks. In all cases, performance of the treated three-syllable nonwords improved, and untreated three-syllable words, four-syllable words, and nonwords showed a generalization effect. However, the generalization of treatment effects to words was smaller than for nonwords. The nonword intervention was effective in improving the subject's speech motor programming skills. As a result, transition errors due to impaired speech motor programming were greatly reduced, and the ability to produce untreated nonwords was greatly increased. However, there was a limit to the full improvement of strongly habitable word errors, which would be expected if a more intensive and repetitive intervention schedule was provided.

A Study of the Manufacturing Techniques of the Horse Trappings with Jewel Beetle Adornment Excavated from Geumgwanchong Tomb (비단벌레 날개를 중심으로 본 금관총 출토 비단 벌레장식 마구류의 제작 기법 연구)

  • This study investigated the techniques applied in the manufacturing of the horse trappings with jewel beetle adornment excavated from Geumgwanchong Tomb, with a focus on the use of jewel beetle wings. It is revealed that the wings of jewel beetles were stripped of their upper skeletal parts and applied as ornamentation under the gilt-bronze openwork plate, and no additional process was applied to improve adhesion. The horse trappings from Geumgwanchong Tomb include saddles, stirrups, horse strap pendants, and bamboo mudguards, but most of the components except the stirrups are failing or lost, making it difficult to identify the manufacturing techniques. The techniques used to affix the jewel beetle wings vary depending on the support materials. Small chisels were used to fix the jewel beetle wings to the stirrups and saddle made of wooden supports. In the case of the bamboo mudguards and metal artifacts, the wings were fixed with lacquer and then combined with the gilt-bronze openwork plate using pressure.

Estrus Cycles of the Female Tscherskia triton (Mammalia: Rodentia: Cricetidae) according to the Photoperiod (광주기에 따른 비단털쥐(Mammalia: Rodentia: Cricetidae) 암컷의 발정주기 변화)

  • Tscherskia triton is widely distributed in Northern China, Korea, and the adjacent areas of Russia. Except its distribution, reproduction, and growth development related to life history, reproductive cycle and reproductive organs of T. triton are rarely studied in Korea. The purpose of this study was characterized the estrous cycle of T. triton captured in Jeju Island in order to provide information to a better information of captive breeding of the species when long-day (16L : 8D) and short-day (8L : 16D) photoperiod. Then, histological study of the ovaries and uterus with five females in each photoperiod was performed. The duration of the estrus cycle was 4~5 days and it showed regular cycle pattern. Results of the vaginal cytology examination showed four characteristic phase of the estrous cycle in long-day photoperiod (16L : 8D): proestrus, estrus, metestrus and diestrus. However, in short-day photoperiod, the diestrus phage of the estrus cycle was maintained from the $6^{th}$ to $12^{th}$ day. In the long-day photoperiod, females had many Graafian follicles and corpus luteums in large ovaries, and developed uterine glands in the thick endometrium. But they had some primary, secondary and tertiary follicles, and undeveloped uterine glands in the thin endometrium during short-day photoperiod. These results were identified difference of the estrus cycle and histological characteristics of reproductive tracts according to the photoperiod. These results are very important clues to the reproductive biology of T. triton, and it will be widely used as date for maintaining biodiversity.
