There is a need for a finite schematic presbyopic eye that models vision and image quality under various conditions such as cataract or refractive surgery, as well as near vision corrections with an ophthalmic lens or contact lens. Using recently measured biometric data of presbyopic eyes, new model eyes were designed that are optically and anatomically close to real eyes. The parameters changing significantly with age were incorporated into models for four different age groups. The new model eyes have alpha angle, decentered pupil, aspheric GRIN lens and aspheric retinal surface. It is likely that the new finite presbyopic model eyes will be useful for designing visual instruments such as low vision aids, PALs, IOL and contact lenses, and for the clinical prediction of the retinal image quality of a presbyopic patient.

This study explores the compression molding of diffractive-aspheric lenses using GeSbSe chalcogenide glasses. A mold core with diffractive structure was prepared and a chalcogenide glass lens was molded at various temperatures using the corresponding core. The effect of molding temperature on the transcription characteristics of diffractive structure was examined, by measuring and comparing the diffractive structure between the mold core and the molded chalcogenide glass lens using a microscope and a white light interferometer. In addition, the applicability of the molded lens for thermal imaging was evaluated, by measuring the form error.

Efforts to obtain more efficient coupling of light from a laser diode to a single mode fiber have continued for various applications such as links for optical fiber communication systems. In TO-can package, configuration of optimized aspherical lens is bi-aspheric and its diameter is 2.4mm. We designed and fabricated aspherical coupling lens by means of glass molding technique under consideration of glass shrinkage. By controlling the aspherical profile error and surface roughness which were below 90nm and 10nm, respectively, we obtained the low coupling loss, 5.40dB, which was able to use for coupling a single mode fiber to laser diode.
Zeolite was applied of the tidal land and its effect on growth and yield of the two rice varieties, Yushin and Jinheung, was studied. The salinity of the zeolite treated soil was lower than that of the control. The effect of zeolite on growth of rice was appeared at the maximum tillering stage. The remarkable effect of zeolite on grain yield appeared in the variety Yushin, an indiea type. The amount of 600kg/10a was recognized to be an optimum amountd of the zeolite application in the tidal land.

A study has been made on the time of nitrogen top-dressing and the method of top-dressing to establish the higher yielding cultural method for wheat at Suwon. In this experiment, it was observed that the application of nitrogen top-dressing with urea leaf spray as spike fertilizer increased the yield by 4~6 percent over nitrogen top-dressing of equal quantity only. Considering the yield and various factors concerned, it is reasonable to apply top-dressing on mid and late of March in Suwon area.
We analyzed the aspheric and/or diffractive surface effects to the performance in the long wavelength infrared (8-12 $\mu$m). Also we investigated the dependence of the NA values for the fixed effective focal length 100 mm when the field angle was varied from 5 degrees to 30 degrees stepped by 5 degrees. We chose the merit function as a criteria to compare the performance of the different lenses. Based on the analysis of the aspheric and/or diffractive surface effects, we designed the optical system of F/l.0 for the uncooled thermal imaging system. As for detector the pixel size was 45 $\mu$m square and the number of pixels were a 320${\times}$240 pixels.

A 110 mm diameter aspheric metal secondary mirror for a test model of an earth observation satellite camera was fabricated by ultra-precision single point diamond turning (SPDT). Aluminum alloy for mirror substrates is known to be easily machinable, but not polishable due to its ductility. A harder material, Ni, is usually electrolessly coated on an Al substrate to increase the surface hardness for optical polishing. Aspheric metal secondary mirror without a conventional polishing process, the surface roughness of Ra=10nm, and the form error of $Ra={\lambda}/12({\lambda}=632nm)$ has been required. The purpose of this research is to find the optimum machining conditions for reflector cutting of electroless-Ni coated Al alloy and apply the SPDT technique to the manufacturing of ultra precision optical components of metal aspheric reflector.

This paper proposed the control algorithm fur aspheric surface grinding and was verified by the experiment. The functions of the algorithm were simultaneous control of the position and interpolation of the aspheric curve. The non-linear formula of the tool position was derived from the aspheric equations and the shape of the tool. The function was partitioned by an certain interval and the control parameters were calculated at each control section. The movement in a session was interpolated with acceleration and velocity. The position error was feed-backed by rotary encorder. The concept of feedback algorithm was correcting position error by increasing or decreasing the speed. In the experiment, two-axis machine was controlled to track the aspheric surface by the proposed algorithm. The effect of the control and process parameters was monitored. The result showed that the maximum tracking error was under sub-micro level for the concave and convex surfaces.

As consumer in optics, electronics, aerospace and electronics industry grow, the demand for ultra-precision aspheric surface lens increases higher. To enhance the precision and productivity of ultra precision aspheric surface micro lens, The development of ultra-precision grinding system and manufacturing properties for the aspheric surface micro lens are described. In the work reported in this paper, and ultra-precision grinding system for manufacturing the aspheric surface micro lens was developed by considering the factors affecting the surface roughness and profiles accuracy. And this paper deals with mirror grinding of an aspheric surface micro lens by resin bonded diamond wheel and spherical lens of BK7. It results was that a form accuracy of $3\;{\mu}m$ P-V and a surface roughness of $0.1\;{\mu}m\;R_{max}$.

In order to design the aspherical lens, the revisions and the steps of the mathematical method are influenced with a lot of variables. The accuracy of the aspherical lens can be changed by these variables. Besides, to design the aspherical lens, many mathematical functions should be used. To use these mathematical functions is protected by patent administration. Therefore it is very difficult for most of developed countries to use them. This fact has been interrupting not only the development of the technique of a design of the aspherical lens but also the development of the equipments of optics. Because approximate values are used in most of common programs which create the aspherical lens : basically these common programs have variations. Therefore these aspherical lens are not accurate. In the paper, we calculated accurate values by using the refractive index of lens. Based on these data, wee created self-operating design programs. Consequently, our lens is more accurate than the aspherical lens which is created by the common programs influenced with approximate values. The used programs belonging to AutoCAD is Visual LISP.
