Antioxidant activity and content of phenolic compounds in fruits of mainly cultivated blueberries in Korea (한국의 주요 블루베리 품종의 항산화 활성 및 페놀화합물 함량 분석)

  • Fruits of 10 cultivars ('Blue Gold', 'Brigitta', 'Coville', 'Duke', 'Nelson', 'North Blue', 'Rancocas', 'Sierra', Sunrise, and 'Weymouth') of blueberries (Vaccinum corymbosun) were analyzed for characteristics, contents of total phenolic compounds and flavonoids and antioxidant activity in this study. Fruit weights ranged from 0.83 to 1.88 g. Total soluble solids concentration varied from 9.7 in 'Duke' to $16.6^{\circ}Brix$ in 'Sierra' with titratable acidities of 0.94 % in 'Sunrise' and 1.75% in 'Brigitta'. There are relatively high contents in 'North Blue' ($23.75mg\;GAE{\cdot}g^{-1}\;FW$) and low contents in 'Coville' ($17.15mg\;GAE{\cdot}g^{-1}\;FW$) in total phenolic compounds. Contents of total phenolic compounds were high in 'Nelson'($14.1mg\;QE{\cdot}g^{-1}\;FW$) and low in 'Duke' ($10.1mg\;QE{\cdot}g^{-1}\;FW$). Analysis of antioxidant activity of blueberry fruits showed that there were high acitiviites of ABTS+ radical scavenging in 'Rancoccas' (82.2%), 'Bluegold' (79.6%), and 'Nelson' (77.8%), and high activities of DPPH radical scavenging in 'Rancocca' (76.0%), and high in hydroxy radical scavenging in 'Nelson' (73.0%). Quantification analysis method of qualitative data showed that 'Bluegold', 'Nelson', 'Northblue', and 'Rancocas' had high contents of phenol and flavonoid compounds, and activity antioxidants of berries. Blueberry cultivars selected by statistical quantification analysis can be utilized as valuable genetic resources for breeding of blueberry with high antioxidant activities in the future.

Comparative Analysis of Blue Carbon Stock Spatial Data in the Estuaries and Coastal Areas of the Geum and Nakdong Rivers (금강 및 낙동강 하구·연안의 블루카본 저장량 공간정보 비교)

  • As extreme weather events caused by climate change are occurring around the world, blue carbon has recently been gaining attention as a carbon sink. Blue carbon has been officially recognized by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as a means of reducing greenhouse gases, and various studies are underway to discover new blue carbon sources both domestically and internationally. Domestic blue carbon research is centered on carbon absorption and storage in tidal flats, which account for most of the coastal wetlands, but there is a lack of research on spatial information. This study utilized the carbon storage of tidal flats from previous studies and converted it into location and spatial information for each basin of the Geumgang and Nakdong rivers. In addition, a proxy value of carbon storage per area by basin was calculated to compare and analyze the total carbon storage of various tidal flats in Korea and abroad. As a result of the analysis, both the Geumgang and Nakdong River basins showed different amounts of carbon storage depending on the tidal flats data, with the highest amount in the Geumgang basin coming from the National Ocean Survey (469,810.1 Mg C) and the highest amount in the Nakdong River basin coming from the Ministry of Environment (217,145.01 Mg C). The results of this study can be used as a basis for future research on the establishment of domestic blue carbon spatial information.

A Secure Bluetooth Piconet using Non-Anonymous Group Keys (비익명성 그룹키를 이용한 안전한 블루투스 피코넷)

  • In accordance with the changes in the wireless communication environment, there has been a great need to satisfy the demand for diverse modes of information exchange. Various types of short-distance wireless communication technology have been developed and studied to meet this demand. Among them, Bluetooth which has recently been acclaimed as the standard for short-distance wireless communication, has been the focus of many such studies. However, Bluetooth has weaknesses in its suuity features when its in security services are applied to Home networks. The purpose of this study is to propose a safe Bluetooth scenario with an upgraded suity feature. This paper first reviews the general characteristics and security features of Bluetooth together with an analysis of its weaknesses, and presents the formation and maintenance process of Bluetooth piconet what is created by using ECDSA and group key in the ACL(Asynchronous Connection-less Link) connection through a safe Bluetooth inquiry process.

Zig-zag electrode pattern for improvement of electro-optic characteristic in polymer stabilized blue phase liquid crystal cell (고분자 안정화 블루상 액정셀의 전기광학특성 향상을 위한 지그재그 형태 전극 설계)

  • The polymer-stabilized blue phase liquid crystal (BPLC) cell has advantages such as sub-millisecond response time, wide viewing angle and no rubbing process for the alignment of liquid crystals. However, high operating voltage and low kerr constant of the polymer-stabilized blue phase liquid crystal deteriorate the electro-optical characteristic of the polymer-stabilized BPLC cell. In this paper, we proposed novel zig-zag electrode in cell layout and confirmed that proposed electrode shape could reduce an over 25 percent of operating voltage for BPLC cell without degradation of tranmittance by using Kerr constant simulation.

Fruit Characteristics of Highbush Blueberry (Vaccininum corymbosum L.) Cultivars (하이부시 블루베리의 품종별 과실 특성)

  • This study was conducted to compare the internal and external fruit quality of highbush blueberry cultivars introduced in Korea. The fruit of blueberry showed a double S-shaped growth curve, and the fruit weight increased significantly per seed increased by 0.02 g. The sugar content ranged from 9.5 to 14.2°Bx, with a large difference between cultivars. And the free sugar was composed of glucose and fructose as a reducing sugar, and mannitol as a sugar alcohol. The organic acid content was 0.7~1.13%, and citric acid was higher than that of malic acid. Fruit hardness showed a berry characteristic that rapidly declined as the coloring progressed.

  • Research on eco-friendly ships is being actively conducted due to the strengthening of environmental regulations in the shipping sector by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). However, most studies are on large ships, and research on small ships is insufficient. Since most fishermen operate small boats, research on eco-friendly fuel vessels is necessary. This study performed resistance performance analysis, model tests, and POW tests to develop a hybrid electric propulsion ship, and compared and verified the CFD and model test results.

Preparation of Monodisperse Blue-colored Polymeric Particles with High Zeta-potential (높은 제타전위를 갖는 단분산의 블루착색 고분자미립자의 제조)

  • Monodisperse blue-colored poly(styrene-co-acrylic acid) latices were successfully prepared by seeded emulsion polymerization. Blue-colored latices with carboxyl anionic charge on the surface were synthesized at the second stage with the introduction of Blue 606 dye, acrylic acid, and 0.21 ${\mu}m$-polystyrene seed. All the blue-colored latices synthesized in this study were in the size range of 0.25~0.42 ${\mu}m$ and all uniform with less than 1.01 in PSD. The particle size increased with the addition of acrylic acid being delayed and colloidally stable latices were obtained over 30 min after its addition. The blue-colored latex with 20 wt% acrylic acid showed -145 mV of zeta-potential and $-9.4{\times}10^{-6}\;cm^2/Vs$ of electrophoretic mobility, and with 25 wt% of DVB showed high $T_g$ at 396.7 K.

First Report of Red Thread of Kentucky Bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) Caused by Laetisaria fuciformis on Golf Course in Korea (국내 골프코스의 켄터키블루그래스에 Laetisaria fuciformis에 의한 붉은뿔마름병(Red Thread) 발생보고)

  • In the middle of May 2018, typical red thread disease symptoms were observed on Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) on a golf course, which locates at Yangsan, Gyeongnam province in Korea. Irregular-shaped patched symptoms were observed in fairway of golf course. The foliar symptom was dried out and faded to straw color and tip of the grass leaves were tangled like thread. Early morning, infected and tangled leaves were covered with the pinkish gelatinous antler-like structure (sclerotinia) as a typical red thread disease symptom. Causal fungal pathogens were isolated from the symptom in Kentucky bluegrass. The fungal culture characteristic on potato dextrose agar color of colony was pale pink and conjugated hyphae, sclerotium of irregular shape was pale pink and 3~5mm diameter in size. The pathogen was identified as Laetisaria fuciformis based on morphological and culture characteristics as well as molecular characteristics. Pathogenicity test was verified on the Kentucky bluegrass by Koch's postulates. This is the first report of red thread disease occurrence in Kentucky bluegrass by L. fuciformis in Korea.

Modified Jointly Blue Noise Mask Approach Using S-CIELAB Color Difference (S-CIELAB 색차를 이용한 개선된 혼합 블루 노이즈 마스크)

  • This paper proposes a modified jointly-blue noise mask (MJBNM) method using the S-CIELAB color measure as digital color halftoning method. Based on an investigation of the relation between the pattern visibility and the chromatic error, of a blue noise pattern, a halftoning method is proposed that reduces the chromatic error, while preserving a high quality blue noise pattern. Accordingly, to reduce the chrominance error, the low-pass filtered error and S-CIELAB chrominance error are both considered during the mask generation procedure and calculated for single and combined patterns. Using the calculated low-pass filtered error, the patterns are then updated by either adding or removing dots from the multiple binary patterns. Finally, the pattern exhibiting the lower S-CIELAB chrominance error is selected. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed algorithm can produce a visually pleasing half toned image with a lower chrominance error than the JBNM method.

  • Recently, Wireless communication has been widely used as a short distance communication medium in various industrial fields as well as communication connection between home appliances due to the appearance of the Internet of Things. And Most commonly used wireless communication media include WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC. Among them, Bluetooth is widely used for communication between smart devices as well as computer peripheral devices. And Bluetooth in the home network fields is being used to control electronic products. However, since Bluetooth security vulnerabilities are known, more and more attacks are being exploited. As the application range of Bluetooth is expanding, it is necessary to prepare countermeasures accordingly. Therefore, this study investigates the security threat factors of through Bluetooth'attack case and attack technology. And By proposing countermeasures against this problem, we intend to utilize it as data for improving the security of wireless network service in the future.
