A Fast Half Pixel Motion Estimation Method based on the Correlations between Integer pixel MVs and Half pixel MVs (정 화소 움직임 벡터와 반 화소 움직임 벡터의 상관성을 이용한 빠른 반 화소 움직임 추정 기법)

  • Motion Estimation (ME) has been developed to remove redundant data contained in a sequence of image. And ME is an important part of video encoding systems, since it can significantly affect the qualify of an encoded sequences. Generally, ME consists of two stages, the integer pixel motion estimation and the half pixel motion estimation. Many methods have been developed to reduce the computational complexity at the integer pixel motion estimation. However, the studies are needed at the half pixel motion estimation to reduce the complexity. In this paper, a method based on the correlations between integer pixel motion vectors and half pixel motion vectors is proposed for the half pixel motion estimation. The proposed method has less computational complexity than the full half pixel search method (FHSM) that needs the bilinear interpolation of half pixels and examines nine half pixel points to the find the half pixel motion vector. Experimental results show that the speedup improvement of the proposed method over FHSM can be up to $2.5\~80$ times faster and the image quality degradation is about to $0.07\~0.69(dB)$.

  • In this paper, we propose the prediction search algorithm for block matching using the temporal/spatial correlation of the video sequence and the renter-biased property of motion vectors The proposed algorithm determines the location of a better starting point for the search of an exact motion vector using the point of the smallest SAD(Sum of Absolute Difference) value by the predicted motion vector from the same block of the previous frame and the predictor candidate pint in each search region and the predicted motion vector from the neighbour blocks of the current frame. And the searching process after moving the starting point is processed a adaptive search pattern according to the magnitude of motion vector Simulation results show that PSNR(Peak-to-Signal Noise Ratio) values are improved up to the 0.75dB as depend on the video sequences and improved about 0.05∼0.34dB on an average except the FS (Full Search) algorithm.

  • In this paper. we propose an image registration algorithm based on variable-sized blocks of ellipsoidal prototype model which is similar in shape to human face. While matching blocks, the existing cylindrical prototype model which only takes into account left and right curvature can accomplish a correct alignment on left and right images. But, registration errors are produced from up and down images because the cylindrical prototype model not reflects characteristics of head shape and jaw structure of human. The proposed method is a block matching algorithm which uses variable-sized blocks with considering left-right and up-down curvature of ellipsoidal face model and can correctly align images by using the correlation between them. We then adapt image mosaic technique to generate a face texture from aligned images. For this purpose, we stitch them with assigning linear weights according to the overlapped region and remove ghost effects to make more realistic facial texture.

A Block Hatching Algorithm using Multi-Resolution on MRMC3 and MRMC4 (다중해상도를 이용한 MRMCS3와 MRMCS4 블록 정합 알고리즘)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 MRMC와 다중후보와 인접블록을 이용한 시공간적 방법을 사용하여 MRMCS3와 MRMCS4를 구하여 나타내었다. 실험 결과 움직임 적은 영상에서는 4 레벨인 MRMCS4가 우수하고 움직임 큰 경우에는 3 레벨인 MRMCS3가 더 좋은 성능을 나타내었다. 제안한 다중해상도 방법이 기존방법에 비해 움직임이 적은 경우 PSNR에 있어서 0.01 - 0.35(㏈)정도 개선되었고, 또한 탐색 속도에 있어서도 10%정도 성능 향상을 나타내었다.

  • A new block matching algorithm that improved the existing block matching algorithm in terms of image quality is proposed in this paper. The subblock of image including the vertical edge of object is subdivided into new two subblocks, and the moving vector found. The result of computer simulation shows on real image that the image quality by the algorithm becomes higher than that of the three step search algorithm by 1.1dB.

  • 압축된 비디오 신호를 전송함에 있어 에러에 의해 영상이 손상되는 영향을 최소화하기 위하여 여러 가지 오류은닉 기법들이 제안되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 인터 프레임에서 오류가 발생하여 정보가 손실되었을 경우, 움직임벡터의 효율적인 복구를 통한 오류은닉 방식을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 기존의 블록오류은닉 방식이 갖고 있는 문제점들을 살펴보고 이 중 전체 합 문제(total sum problem)에 대해 해결책으로 제시 될 수 있는 Infinite Norm을 이용한 블록경계정합방식을 제안하였고 실험에 의해 그 성능을 검증하였다.

  • 본 논문은 안드로이드 스마트 폰 환경에서 정중앙 블록과 주변 블록들 간의 블록 대비도를 이용해 눈썹을 검출한 후, 눈썹과 눈 간의 기하학적 특성을 이용해 눈의 위치를 찾는 눈 검출 방법에 관한 것이다. 제안된 방법은 Haar-like 특징과 AdaBoost 알고리즘 그리고 적응형 템플릿 정합을 이용해 입력 영상에서 얼굴 영역을 검출한 후, 이를 이용해 좌측 및 우측 눈썹과 눈 탐색 영역을 산정한다. 눈썹 영역의 Integral Image에서 눈썹에 해당하는 부분이 주변 블록들에 비해 상대적으로 어둡다는 특성을 이용해 눈썹을 추출한다. 이와 동시에 각 눈 탐색 영역의 Integral Image에서 동공 블록이 나머지 주변 블록들에 비해 상대적으로 어둡고 대칭성이 양호하다는 특성을 이용해 눈 후보 영역들을 추출한 후 최대 블록 대비도를 갖는 블록의 중심화소를 동공 후보점으로 삼는다. 이후 눈의 위치는 항상 눈썹 하단에 위치하며 그 떨어진 정도가 사람마다 크게 다르지 않다는 기하학적 특성을 이용해 눈 후보 영역에서 나온 동공 후보 점들을 검증한다. 제안된 방법은 거리 및 조명 변화 그리고 안경 착용에 강인한 것이 장점이다. 눈썹을 먼저 찾은 후 기하학적 특성을 이용해 좌우 동공 후보점 쌍의 적합성을 검증함으로써 안경과 눈을 효과적으로 구분할 수 있고 눈이 감겨 동공이 가려진 상태에도 감긴 눈의 위치를 검출할 수 있다.

Whitening Method for Performance Improvement of the Matched Filter in the Non-white Noise Environment (비백색 잡음 환경에서 정합필터 성능개선을 위한 백색화 기법)

  • In shallow water active sonar environment, reverberation which is a non-white noise is one of the main source of performance degradation of target detection. In this case, the received signal is whitened before applying matched filter known as an optimum filter in the presence of white noise. However implementation of this method is very difficult because of the non-stationary characteristic of reverberation. Traditionally reverberation is assumed local stationary. In this paper, we estimate a range of stationary of reverberation signal, and then propose a pre-whitening method which improve the performance of pre-whitening block normalized matched filter in presence of non-white reverberation noise. Proposed whitener shows better whitening performance than traditional whitener because it use later as well as before reverberation of target signal. To evaluate performance of the proposed whitener, an actual measurement data sampled at the East-Sea is used for computer simulation. The target detector with new whitener is shown better performance than detector with traditional whitener.

  • Image matching is widely applied in image application areas, such as remote sensing and GIS. In general, the initial set of matching points always includes outlier which affect the accuracy of image matching. The purpose of this paper is to develop a robust approach for outlier detection and removal in order to keep accuracy in image matching applications. In this paper we use three automatic outlier detection techniques of backward matching and affine transformation, and RANSAC(RANdom SAmple Consensus) algorithm. Moreover, we calculate overlapping apply and steps block-based processing for fast and efficient image matching in pre-processing steps. The suggested approach in this paper has been applied to real frame image pairs and the results have been analyzed in terms of the robustness and the efficiency.

  • 블록의 DCT계수를 이용하여 동영상 움직임 탐색(motion estimation)에서 탐색점 수를 결정하는 선택적 탐색 기법을 제안한다. DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform)에서 탐색점 수를 결정하는 선택적 탐색 기법을 제안한다. DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) 연산과 블록정합 기법인 3단게 탐색기법을 기반으로 한다. DCT 연산 결과인 블록의 주파수성분에 가중치테이블을 적용하여 고주파성분을 많이 가진 블록일수록 탐색점의 수를 증가시켜 국부극소에 빠질 확률을 줄여 화질을 개선한다. MP@ML 영상테이터에 대해 제안된 기법을 사용하여 시뮬레이션하였다. 제안하는 기법은 3단계 탐색기법에 비하여 연산량은 증가하나, 연산량 증가에 비하여 좋은 화질을 제공한다.
