Crosswalk Detection Model for Visually impaired Using Deep Learning (딥러닝을 이용한 시각장애인용 횡단보도 탐지 모델 연구)

  • Crosswalks play an important role for the safe movement of pedestrians in a complex urban environment. However, for the visually impaired, crosswalks can be a big risk factor. Although assistive tools such as braille blocks and acoustic traffic lights exist for safe walking, poor management can sometimes act as a hindrance to safety. This paper proposes a method to improve accuracy in a deep learning-based real-time crosswalk detection model that can be used in applications for pedestrian assistance for the disabled at the beginning. The image was binarized by utilizing the characteristic that the white line of the crosswalk image contrasts with the road surface, and through this, the crosswalk could be better recognized and the location of the crosswalk could be more accurately identified by using two models that learned the whole and the middle part of the crosswalk, respectively. In addition, it was intended to increase accuracy by creating a boundary box that recognizes crosswalks in two stages: whole and part. Through this method, additional frames that the detection model did not detect in RGB image learning from the crosswalk image could be detected.

A Blind Watermarking Algorithm using CABAC for H.264/AVC Main Profile (H.264/AVC Main Profile을 위한 CABAC-기반의 블라인드 워터마킹 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposed a watermark embedding/extracting method using CABAC(Context-based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding) which is the entropy encoder for the main profile of MPEG-4 Part 10 H.264/AVC. This algorithm selects the blocks and the coefficients in a block on the bases of the contexts extracted from the relationship to the adjacent blocks and coefficients. A watermark bit is embedded without any modification of coefficient or with replacing the LSB(Least Significant Bit) of the coefficient with a watermark bit by considering both the absolute value of the selected coefficient and the watermark bit. Therefore, it makes it hard for an attacker to find out the watermarked locations. By selecting a few coefficients near the DC coefficient according to the contexts, this algorithm satisfies the robustness requirement. From the results from experiments with various kinds and various strengths of attacks the maximum error ratio of the extracted watermark was 5.02% in maximum, which makes certain that the proposed algorithm has very high level of robustness. Because it embeds the watermark during the context modeling and binarization process of CABAC, the additional amount of calculation for locating and selecting the coefficients to embed watermark is very small. Consequently, it is highly expected that it is very useful in the application area that the video must be compressed right after acquisition.

Edge-Enhanced Error Diffusion Halftoning using Local mean and Spatial Activity (국부 평균과 공간 활성도를 이용한 에지 강조 오차확산법)

  • Digital halftoning is the technique to obtain a bilevel-toned image from continuous-toned image. Among halftoning methods, the error diffusion method gives better subjective quality than other halftoning ones. But it also makes edges of objects blurred. To overcome the defect, we proposes the modified error diffusion to enhance the edges using the property that human vision perceives the local average luminance and doesn't perceive a little variation of the spatial variation. The proposed method computes a spatialactivity, which is the difference between a pixel luminance and the average of its $3{\times}3$ neighborhood pixels' Iuminance weighted according to the spatial positioning. The system also usesof edge enhancement (IEE), which is computed from the normalized spatial activitymultiplied by the average luminance. The IEE is added to the quantizer's input pixel and feeds into the halftoning quantizer. The quantizer produces the halftone image having the enhanced edge. The computer experimental results show that the proposed method produces clearer bilevel-toned images than conventional methodsand the edge of objects is preserved well. Also the performance of the preposed method is improved, compared with that of the conventional method by measuring the edge correlation and the local average accordance at some ranges of viewing distance.
