Multistep Prediction-Based Blind Equalization and Efficient Adaptive Implementation (Multistep Prediction을 이용한 블라인드 등화기와 효율적인 적응 알고리듬)

  • 통신 채널에서 블라인드 채널 등화는 훈련신호나 채널의 사전 정보가 필요하지 않기 때문에 전송 효율을 높일 수 있는 매우 중요한 문제이다. 선형 예측 오차 방법은 블라인드 등화기의 차수 추정 오차에 대하여 강인하며 적응 알고리듬을 이용하여 효율적으로 구현할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 시스템 지연은 등화기의 성능에 많은 영향을 끼치지만 기존의 one-step 선형 예측은 등화기의 임의의 시스템 지연에 대해서는 구현할 수 없는 단점이 있다. 순방향 선형 예측과 역방향 선형 예측은 각각 시스템 지연이 0과 최대인 블라인드 등화와 관련이 있다. 그러나 Multistep 예측은 임의의 시스템 지연을 갖는 블라인드 등화기를 구현할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 최적의 시스템 지연을 구한 후 RLS 알고리듬과 LMS 알고리듬을 이용한 multistep 선형 예측을 이용한 블라인드 채널 등화기를 제안하였다. 그리고 기존의 알고리듬들과 본 논문에서 제안한 알고리듬의 성능을 모의실험을 통하여 기존의 알고리듬들과 비교·평가하였다.

  • Turbo equalizer system is a method which can improve performance through a combination of the equalizer and decoder. The turbo equalizer has been mainly used a MAP equalizer. However, this turbo equalizer has a disadvantage that has a high computational complexity. To overcome the disadvantage and to improve efficiency of bandwidth, blind turbo equalization system is proposed. blind turbo equalization system has low equalization performance than conventional turbo equalization system. To circumvent this problem, we adapt the beamforming method based on the MUSIC algorithm. we confirmed that the proposed method improves the equalization performance.

  • 본 논문에서는 디지털 통신 시스템의 블라인드 등화에 있어서, 다중레벨 modulus를 기준 신호로 사용하여 등화기의 탭 계수 갱신 식에 사용되는 오차 신호를 형성함으로써 등화기의 블라인드 수렴 특성을 개선한 다중레벨 modulus 알고리즘들의 성능을 분석하였다. 다중경로 채널 하에서 QAM 신호점에 대해 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통하여 단일/다중레벨 modulus 알고리즘(SMMA)과 기존의 modified constant modulus algorithm(MCMA) 및 최근에 제안된 다중레벨 modulus 알고리즘(MMA) 등의 블라인드 수렴 및 정상 상태 성능을 비교하였다.

  • A new multi constant modulus algorithm (MCMA) for a blind decision feedback equalizer is proposed. In order to avoid the error propagation problem in the conventional DFE structure, Feed-Back Filter coefficients are updated only after Feed-Forward Filter coefficients are sufficiently converged to the steady state. Therefore, it has the problem of slow convergence speed characteristics. To overcome this drawback, the proposed MCMA algorithm uses not only new cost function considering the minimum distance between the received signal and the representative value containing the statistical characteristics of the transmitted signal, but also adaptive step-size according to the equalizer outputs to fast convergence speed of FBF. Simulations were carried out under the certified communication channel environment to evaluate a performance of the proposed equalizer. The simulation results show that the proposed equalizer has an improved convergence and SER performance compared with previous methods. The proposed techniques offer the possibility of practical equalization for cable modem and terrestrial HDTV broadcast (using 8-VSB or 64-QAM) applications.

  • In this paper, the multi-stage radius-directed algorithm is applied to fractionally spaced equalizers which are insensitive to the sampling timing-phase. these equalizers exhibit good convergence characeristics when compared to fractionally spaced blind equalizers using conventional blind algorithms. Also, multi-model fractionally spaced blind equalizers, which use multiple symbol spaced blind equalizers that operate independently, converge faster than conventional fractionally spaced blind equalizers.

  • Blind equalization of communication channel is important because it does not need training signal, nor does it require a priori channel information. So, we can increase the bandwidth efficiency. The linear prediction error method is perhaps the most attractive in practice due to the insensitive to blind channel equalizer length mismatch as well as for its simple adaptive implementation. Unfortunately, the previous one-step prediction error method is known to be limited in arbitrary decision delay. In this paper, we propose method for fractionally spaced blind equalizer with arbitrary decision delay using one-step forward prediction error filter from second-order statistics of the received signals for SIMO channel. Our algorithm utilizes the forward prediction error as training signal and computes the best decision delay from all possible decision delay. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the performance of our proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper we propose a blind decision feedback equalizer (DFE) that is characterized by the fact that it does not require channel estimation. Because the output of the optimized multistep prediction error filter (PEF) can be represented as a product of the channel partial impulse response and the transmitted sequence, a backward multistep PEF can be used as the blind DFE feedforward filter (FFF). The corresponding feedback filter (FBF) is obtained from the symbol -rate partial channel impulse response. The proposed algorithm has several advantages over existing blind channel estimation techniques, including stable performance without the necessity of exact channel order estimation.

  • In this paper, proposed is the dual-mode algorithm of blind decision feedback equalizer (DFE) for digital terrestrial television signals. According to channel impairments, the proposed dual-mode algorithm for blind DFE operates in decision-directed mode or in blind mode of operation. The error signals being used in tap update of the equalizer are generated in the best mode of operations, so that the confidence of equalizer tap coefficient update is more accurate. As a result, it is possible to track the channel characteristics variations by automatic switching over between two modes of operations. For 8-level vestigial sideband modulated digital television signals, the mean square errors and symbol error rates of the proposed algorithm are compared with those of conventional methods. And the usability of the proposed scheme is assessed by computer simulations under various static and dynamic multipath channel environments.

  • Blind equalization is a technique that equalizes the received signals without the training sequence. Because of the absence of training sequence, we can increase the bandwidth efficiency due to the blind equalization system. And we must use the blind equalization for removing the ISI in mobile satellite communication receiver. ISI occurs due to mobility of users in mobile satellite communications. Blind equalization is suitable for the mobile satellite communication channels. In this blind equalization, it's very important to improve BER performance to apply the mobile satellite communication system. In this paper, we propose the blind beamforming equalization system using the beamforming, MUSIC algorithm and coordinate change method. We were confirmed by the simulation that the proposed system improves the BER performance.

  • 지상파 DTV 전송 시스템은 "training sequence"를 이용한 결정 궤환 등화기(DFE)를 사용한다. 이 등화기는 정적 다중경로 환경에서는 심볼 간의 간섭을 적절히 제거하는 반면, 동적 다중경로 환경에서는 "training sequence" 의 주기가 채널 효율 문제로 충분히 짧지 않기 때문에 충분히 제거하지 못하는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 이 문제점을 해결하기 위해서 "training sequence" 를 이용한 DFE와 선형 등화기, 블라인드 DFE와 선형 등화기 및 혼합형 DFE를 구현하여 정적 채널과 동적 채널에 대한 성능을 분석하였다.
