A Study on the Interaction of a brand-image and design identity by a consubstantiality analysis (동질성 분석을 통한 디자인 아이덴티티와 브랜드이미지와의 상관관계에 관한 연구)

  • Nowadays, technological differences between companies have decreased and products launched show more resemblance to each other. As an alternative plan companies started developing brands. The excellence in quality of a product from a company could be easily copied, but the formless value, brand, cannot be imitated easily. More importantly, in the globally competing generation the brand provides distinctiveness and gives a solution to the relationship between consumers. Also the design image takes a big part in a company's competitiveness. The design image that represents the company reflects the brand, and it reflects the image and the philosophy of the company. And the images of each product influence the brand. Also an effective delivery of a product image would give a synergistic effect on the brand. A company could build this design identity to elevate the brand. Therefore, the identity of design image reflects the brand. Therefore a study on the area of the absence and misled identity of design image is important. This study is fixed on the idea of, development of brand to increase competitiveness, and the affiliation of design image with the identity of the brand. This study, on the basis of preceding research and theoretical background, aims to find the design identity area focusing on the product design image of the product purchased by the consumer. Firstly, we need to examine the affinity of the product image from the consumer, and analyse the direction of images to offer a solution that could advance the design identity strategy.

  • As the world approaches to a keen competition for design, corporations began to be interested in CI (Corporate Identity), PI (Product Identity) as a way of enhancing the valve of corporation that has competitive power. PI (Product Identity) leads communication to an affirmative direction that is formed when the consumer uses products and feels the image of corporation. It is said to be important that it is part of synthetic and systematic strategy of corporation to gain an advantage over competitor in the market place with an unified corporate image. Even though mobile phones are sensitively changed according to a trend and public fancy, PI (Product Identity) of mobile phones is also important. The study purports to ascertain the propensity of Nokia's PI (Product Identity) and to analyze their unique PI.

Mobile Commerce Brand Identity Strategy by SNS Text mining

  • In this paper, I propose an efficient brand identity strategy by topic modeling the Instagram posts, one of SNS(Social Network Service) having more than 1billion world-wide and 500 million daily users. Since the 92% age groups of the Instagram is 18~50 years old (59% 18~29y and 33% 30~49), I set research analysis target three mobile commerce sites to dress and cosmetics sales sites that sale apparels cosmetics and gadgets that recently opened and have operated marketing on diverse channel including SNS. By topic modeling SNS posts for 6 months after launching the site that tagged each m-commerce site brand name or company name, I validate companies' brand identity strategy works effectively and suggest moderation of strategy for brand image. As a result, I found one of three mobile commerce site has different brand image by users and need different identity set up.

A Conceptual Framework for One Source Multi Use Strategy of Culture Content (브랜드 아이덴티티 기반 문화콘텐츠 OSMU 전략 연구)

  • This article is to propose a conceptual framework for the One Source Multi Use (OSMU) strategic model of culture content. In this study, OSMU is defined as a series of marketing activities to increase the value created by culture content. The framework of brand equity strategy is applied to develop the strategic model of OSMU, as both share the same goal - maximization of long term value created by brand or culture content. This article suggests the brand identity-based OSMU strategic model, in which the brand identity of culture content guides, integrates, and coordinates every decision-making of OSMU activities. For the maximization of brand equity value of culture content, the copyright holder of original content should decide the content's brand identity, which should provide the criteria of all decision makings regarding window strategy, adaptation of content to other genre, and merchandising. This brand identity-based OSMU strategic model can not only contribute to the sales of OSMU content, but also the creation of high equity culture content in the long run. Also, the model allows monitoring and evaluation of content's brand equity, which can be used for the strategic adjustment for the sake of long term value of the content. This study is differentiated from previous study on OSMU and expected to invigorate the further discussion on OSMU in several points. First, it broadens the scope of OSMU discussion as it views OSMU as a series of process including feedback. Second, this study points out the need for integration and coordination of various OSMU activities. Third, the strategic focus is laid on the value maximization of the original content, not 'multi used' content. Fourth, the suggested model emphasize the strategic role of copyright holder who takes the charge of the content brand management. Fifth, the model requires discussion on the components of marketing communication in addition to the content itself, which means the model includes the prospects, not only the content consumers, as the major future source for value creation.

  • Brand is a useful tool for modem people living under the age of the brand, to explain the information of their products by differentiating themselves from others. It also represents the value of company and plays a major role convincing customers. Even living space brands are no exception. According to the development of marketing management ability, living space brands require the new sales strategy to dominate the market over the business competition, and plan differently for a changing market environment. On such account, companies are commercializing the living space via establishing its brands. Thus the study will cover the living space differentiation strategies for promoting the brand images of respective construction companies and will strive to compare and analyze the differentiation strategy factors that construction firms are pursuing through case analysis framework. Moreover, it's objective focuses on materializing the strategies of living space in accordance to the brand application elements.

  • Despite the SKM Duyree shop's potentials, such as residing over the Samsung-dong, gangnam-gu one of the premier locations in Seoul, and offering a large shopping store, the old 'SKM Dutyfree' symbol [image #2] has become the burden for a company due to its low-profile brand quality and lack of location advertisements. Therefore, first, we have agreed to acquire the popular brand word 'COEX' and replace "SKM Dutyfree" to "COEX Dutyfree", and second, the new visual image has been created in order to create a synergy of the urban-look and the location-information. Therefore, the visual identity design concepts have been utilized in order to achieve such goals; first, promote the existing COEX-image and metropolitan-esque image. Second, unify the international-metropolitan looks of the COEX-mall, hotel, shopping center, exhibition, and airport terminal with location information. Third, deliver the new identity-design [image #1] of the fresh look(compare to competing dutyfree shops) and dynamic images.

  • Currently, urban identity is a corporate management strategy of the past, and it includes the unique history and cultural heritage of the region, and it is expected to enhance competitiveness and locality. In response, the city's identity design of 31 municipalities in Gyeonggi Province is moving away from the past, building a futuristic, concise and modern image, and building differentiated identity using geometric artificial motifs. However, despite the presence of urban identity in the past, Symbolmark's boundaries and benchmarks are becoming increasingly ambiguous as it replaces CI or acts as CI and BI by developing new BIs instead of renewals. Moreover, there are cases where the slogan containing vision is used as BI, which requires professional CIP management by presenting the status analysis and direction of municipal governments in Gyeonggi Province. Thus, in this study, the theoretical background analysis and academic study of 31 municipalities in Gyeonggi Province were conducted, and the final analysis space was analyzed by schematizing how the essential meaning of symbolism is expressed and interpreted.

A Study on the Utilization of Illustration for the Identity Design in Fashion Brand (패션 브랜드의 아이덴티티 디자인을 위한 일러스트레이션의 활용 방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the examples of using illustration as a strategic factor of composing brand cultures and as a factor for brand identity design. Through analyzing the external characteristics and the internal characteristics of illustration, this study will give suggestions on ways to apply the examples to real design. Illustration in external characteristics is investigated as a case of applying it directly to fashion design and to fashion marketing. Most of the fashion items were printed or weaved and most of the bags, shoes, and accessories were printed on the cover, attached as a patch, and expressed three-dimensionally. Illustration in internal characteristics is investigated as fixing and expansion of brand image, improving artistic and emotional value of brand, vitalization of masstige items, and cultural support and expression of social responsibility. The three themes used to develop the illustrations of "Hello ZIBI", which was used in this study, were "Graphic", "Forest" and "Flower", and these were based on modified brand symbol. Casual brands grafted fashion item designs onto T-shirts, bags, hats, and scarves. Marketing items were designed as shopping bags that could reflect brand image, as well as other items, such as key holders, mug cups, and tumblers, with designs that targeted specific age groups.

  • Companies have been difficult to capture the minds of consumers by staying in the sales phase in order to sell products. The marketing and brand management strategies of more understanding consumers and systematically managing for the perception of them are becoming important. Since launched, EXR has implemented a systematic brand management process from its early stage. Based on the idea of 'brand asset by customer' by Kevin Lane Keller that the total of consumer brand knowledge ultimately completes the company brand power, 'brand asset', to satisfy areas of 'functionality' and 'design', EXR pioneered its ultimate brand asset which is 'CAPORTS' and established its own identity called, 'PROGRESSIVE'. For the success of a brand management, there must be a clear vision supported by the determination of a specific brand identity. Also, it needs to be shared by members of the organization, and to maintain and manage it in the long run, an integrated management strategy is essential. On the basis of such identity, EXR was able to carry out the integrated management for its brand and the overall implementation of the marketing strategy. Therefore, In this study, we seek for a sustainable brand management strategy of fashion brand by looking into the process of the EXR's brand establishment.
