In this paper, I presented that transformation of library from the collection management to knowledge contents management along with paradigm shift under the web-based multimedia information environment is required. Effective web contents management call maximize users'satisfaction with personal customizing services for library users. Especially, contents customizing service using the metabrowsing service contributes to maximize the user'satisfaction by supplying core contents that the user seeks. In this paper, I studied the scheme of knowledge contents management to increase of user'satisfaction, concentrating on the management factors of web-based multimedia knowledge contents and service strategy.

With the development of digital satellite communication technology and the widespread use of smart devices, the demand for data communication in the maritime ship has increased. Recently, the communication between the maritime ship and the land is based on Inmarsat satellite service. The Inmarsat provides telephone, fax, data and telex service etc. However, since the satellite is payper-seconds billing service, the transmission of whole web contents to the maritime ship through the satellite causes high cost. In this paper, we propose web browsing system architecture that reduces the data traffic on the satellite link and retransmits the content selectively in order to solve these problems.

Most recent mobile devices can store a massive amount of images. However, the typical user interface of mobile devices, such as a small-size 2D display and discrete-input buttons, make the browsing and manipulation of images cumbersome and time-consuming. As an alternative, we adopt motion-based interaction along with a 3D layout of images, expecting such an intuitive and natural interaction may facilitate the tasks. We designed and implemented a motion-based interaction scheme for image browsing using an ultra mobile PC, and evaluated and compared its usability to that of the traditional button-based interaction. The effects of data layouts (tiled and fisheye cylindrical layouts) were also investigated to see whether they can enhance the effectiveness of the motion based interaction.

Most document consists of primary content and supporting material, such as footnotes, detailed explanations, and illustrations, and the related supporting materials are linked as hypertext on web document. However the content of hypertext links Is appeared in the new windows on present web browser. Then the user will leave the primary material, may lose the entire context, and must have some difficulties to return to the primary context when the interest disappears. Using the technique for fluid links, we can solve these problems easily. If the mouse is putted on the link, the related material is presented in between lines or at margin maintaining the context of primary material. In this paper, we introduce the various browsing techniques using fluid links, analyze the forms and the features, and then we propose the best way to implement inJava.

컴퓨터의 보급과 함께 인터넷의 대중화로 많은 정보가 인터넷을 통해 제공되면서 많은 사람들이 정보통신 기반 서비스를 이용하게 되었다. 하지만 이런 서비스에 익숙하지 않은 사용자가 자신이 원하는 정보를 찾는 것은 그리 쉬운 일이 아니다. 그래서 ISP나 PC통신 업체들은 사용자들이 겪는 어려움을 해결해 주기 위한 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 그러나 사용자들의 엄청난 증가로 인해 이런 서비스를 유지하는데 많은 인력과 시간이 필요하게 되면서 질의 응답 자동화에 대한 필요성이 대두되었다. 본 논문에서는 ISP 업체 중 하나인 한메일넷의 자동 응답 시스템을 위한 FAQ 브라우징 시스템을 개발하였다. 기존의 많은 검색 서비스가 키워드들을 단순히 나열하고 이 키워드의 링크를 따라가면서 검색을 하게 하였으나 이 방식은 검색 대상에 대한 키워드 정보만을 제공하기 때문에, 문제에 대한 배경 지식이 적거나 검색 서비스 사용에 익숙치 않은 사용자가 이용하기에는 쉽지 않다. 본 시스템에서는 사용자에게 이차원상에 표현된 문서 지도를 제공해서 사용자가 쉽게 전체 검색 자료의 분포를 파악하고 검색하도록 하였다. 또한 단계별 검색이 가능하도록 해서 사용자가 효율적으로 검색할 수 있다.

In this paper, we design and implement a system for managing domain specific thesauri, where object-oriented paradigm is applied to thesaurus construction, concept browsing and query-based reference. This system provides an objected-oriented mechanism to assist domain experts in constructing thesauri; it determines a considerable part of relationship degrees between terms by inheritance and supplies domain experts with information available from a thesaurus being constructed This information is especially useful to enforce consistency between the hierarchies of a thesaurus, each constructed by different experts in different sites through cooperation. The facility is indispensable especially when precision counts for much.

This paper proposes a rapid detection algorithm of a salient region for music video browsing system, which can be applied to mobile device and digital video recorder (DVR). The input music video is decomposed into the music and video tracks. For the music track, the music highlight including musical chorus is detected based on structure analysis using energy-based peak position detection. Using the emotional models generated by SVM-AdaBoost learning algorithm, the music signal of the music videos is classified into one of the predefined emotional classes of the music automatically. For the video track, the face scene including the singer or actor/actress is detected based on a boosted cascade of simple features. Finally, the salient region is generated based on the alignment of boundaries of the music highlight and the visual face scene. First, the users select their favorite music videos from various music videos in the mobile devices or DVR with the information of a music video's emotion and thereafter they can browse the salient region with a length of 30-seconds using the proposed algorithm quickly. A mean opinion score (MOS) test with a database of 200 music videos is conducted to compare the detected salient region with the predefined manual part. The MOS test results show that the detected salient region using the proposed method performed much better than the predefined manual part without audiovisual processing.

본 고에서는 공학분야 중에서도 그 응용범위가 가장 광범위하다고 할 수 있는 기계공학분야의 이용자에게 수준 높은 웹 정보자원을 효율적으로 제공하기 위하여 검색엔진을 통하여 자동 수집된 웹 정보자원을 기계공학분야 주제전문가의 평가를 통해 핵심정보를 선정하고 이를 더블린코어 메타데이터를 응용한 베타데이터 요소에 따라 조직하여 웹 상의 검색 인터페이스에 의해 이용될 수 있도록 주제 게이트웨이 시스템을 설계하였다. 정보자원의 검색방법으로는 키워드 검색과 주제분류체계에 따른 브라우징 검색 등 두 가지 방법을 이용하였다.

본 논문은 웹을 이용한 실시간 원격강의 시스템을 제안하여 기존의 원격교육 시스템이 가지고 잇는 상호작용의 문제점을 극복하고자 한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 시스템을 사용하면 전통적인 교실에서의 수업과는 달리 공간과 거리에 구애받지 않고 웹 브라우저만을 이용해 강의에 참여할 수 있다. ActiveX기술을 사용하여 비디오/오디오와 같은 멀티미디어 기능과 참가자들의 동기화 된 브라우징(browsing)기능을 구현하였다.

본 논문에서는 ATM-LAN상 MOD서버에서 클라이언트로의 CM데이처의 전송 기술을 위한 서비스 관리 기법을 제안한다. 즉, Navigation서버를 이용한 브라우징 메카니즘, 서버와 클라이언트, 응용 AAL과 QoS간 협상 및 예약 정차의 세션 설정 기술, 프레임의 분열 및 재결합에 관한 알고리즘을 제안하고 구현한다.
