A Layer-based Dynamic Unequal Clustering Method in Large Scale Wireless Sensor Networks (대규모 무선 센서 네트워크에서 계층 기반의 동적 불균형 클러스터링 기법)

  • An unequal clustering method in wireless sensor networks is the technique that forms the cluster of different size. This method decreases whole energy consumption by solving the hot spot problem. In this paper, I propose a layer-based dynamic unequal clustering using the unequal clustering model. This method decreases whole energy consumption and maintain that equally using optimal cluster's number and cluster head position. I also show that proposed method is better than previous clustering method at the point of network lifetime.

  • The necessity of wireless sensor networks is increasing in the recent years. So many researches are studied in wireless sensor networks. The clustering algorithm provides an effective way to prolong the lifetime of the wireless sensor networks. The one-hop routing of LEACH algorithm is an inefficient way in the energy consumption of cluster-head, because it transmits a data to the BS(Base Station) with one-hop. On the other hand, other clustering algorithms transmit data to the BS with multi-hop, because the multi-hop transmission is an effective way. But the multi-hop routing of other clustering algorithms which transmits data to BS with multi-hop have a data bottleneck state problem. The unequal clustering algorithm solved a data bottleneck state problem by increasing the routing path. Most of the unequal clustering algorithms partition the nodes into clusters of unequal size, and clusters closer to the BS have small-size the those farther away from the BS. However, the energy consumption of cluster-head in unequal clustering algorithm is more increased than other clustering algorithms. In the thesis, I propose an energy efficient unequal clustering algorithm which decreases the energy consumption of cluster-head and solves the data bottleneck state problem. The basic idea is divided a three part. First of all I provide that the election of appropriate cluster-head. Next, I offer that the decision of cluster-size which consider the distance from the BS, the energy state of node and the number of neighborhood node. Finally, I provide that the election of assistant node which the transmit function substituted for cluster-head. As a result, the energy consumption of cluster-head is minimized, and the energy consumption of total network is minimized.

An Energy Consumption Model using Hierarchical Unequal Clustering Method (계층적 불균형 클러스터링 기법을 이용한 에너지 소비 모델)

  • Clustering method in wireless sensor networks is the technique that forms the cluster to aggregate the data and transmit them at the same time that they can use the energy efficiently. In this paper, I propose the hierarchical unequal clustering method using cluster group model. This divides the entire network into two layers. The data aggregated from layer 2 consisted of cluster group is sent to layer 1, after re-aggregation the total data is sent to base station. This method decreases whole energy consumption by using cluster group model with multi-hop communication architecture. Hot spot problem can be solved by establishing unequal cluster. I also show that proposed hierarchical unequal clustering method is better than previous clustering method at the point of network energy efficiency.

  • In this paper, we propose two clustering schemes to prolong lifetime by improving unbalance of energy consumption among sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks. The first proposed scheme make up clusters according to density of sensor nodes in initial stage of wireless sensor networks for reducing energy consumption of wireless sensor networks. After the initial stage, a cluster header is selected by a relay scheme that determines a cluster header of next round among cluster members. by estimating of energy consumption of cluster members for improving unbalance of energy consumption among cluster members.

  • Wireless sensor networks is composed of many similar sensor nodes with limited resources. They are randomly scattered over a specific area and self-organize the network. For guarantee of network life time, load balancing and scalability in sensor networks, sensor networks needs the clustering algorithm which distribute the networks to a local cluster. In existing clustering algorithms, the cluster head selection method has two problems. One is additional communication cost for finding location and energy of nodes. Another is unequal clustering. To solve them, this paper proposes a novel cluster head selection algorithm revised previous clustering algorithm, LEACH. The simulation results show that the energy compared with the previous clustering method is reduced.

  • 태양 에너지 수집형 무선 센서 네트워크는 지속해서 에너지를 수집할 수 있어 배터리 기반 센서 네트워크의 에너지 제약 문제를 완화할 수 있지만, 고정된 싱크의 사용으로 싱크 주변에 존재하는 노드들이 상대적으로 에너지 소비가 증가하는 문제, 즉 에너지 사용 불균형 문제는 해결하지 못한다. 최근의 연구에서는 클러스터링을 기반으로 한 모바일 싱크를 도입하여 이를 해결하고자 했지만, 클러스터 헤드 및 그 주변 노드들의 에너지 부담은 여전히 존재한다. 한편, 무선 전력 전송 기술 발전에 따라 무선 센서 네트워크에서 모바일 싱크를 이용한 무선 전력 전송의 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 무선 전력 전송이 가능한 모바일 싱크와 효율적인 클러스터링 기법(클러스터 헤드 선출 포함)을 이용하여 에너지 불균형 문제를 최소화하는 기법을 제안한다. 제안 기법은 클러스터 헤드 및 헤드 주변 노드의 에너지 핫 스팟이 완화됨으로, 전체 네트워크의 정전 노드들이 감소하고 수집된 데이터양이 증가한 것을 성능평가를 통해 확인할 수 있다.

An Efficient Cluster Management Scheme Using Wireless Power Transfer for Mobile Sink Based Solar-Powered Wireless Sensor Networks

  • In this paper, we propose a scheme that minimizes the energy imbalance problem of solar-powered wireless sensor network (SP-WSN) using both a mobile sink capable of wireless power transfer and an efficient clustering scheme (including cluster head election). The proposed scheme charges the cluster head using wireless power transfer from a mobile sink and mitigates the energy hotspot of the nodes nearby the head. SP-WSNs can continuously harvest energy, alleviating the energy constraints of battery-based WSN. However, if a fixed sink is used, the energy imbalance problem, which is energy consumption rate of nodes located near the sink is relatively increased, cannot be solved. Thus, recent research approaches the energy imbalance problem by using a mobile sink in SP-WSN. Meanwhile, with the development of wireless power transmission technology, a mobile sink may play a role of energy charging through wireless power transmission as well as data gathering in a WSN. Simulation results demonstrate that increase the amount of collected data by the sink using the proposed scheme.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크는 제한된 에너지를 가진 센서 노드들로 구성되며, 센서 노드의 에너지를 효율적으로 활용하기 위해 클러스터링 알고리즘을 사용한다. 균형 있는 클러스터 구성을 위해서는 클러스터 헤드의 선정이 중요하다. 기존의 연구는 확률, 노드의 잔여 에너지, 이웃 노드의 수, 이웃 노드와의 거리 등의 정보를 활용하여 클러스터 헤드를 선정하였다. 그러나 확률은 클러스터 헤드의 밀집으로 인한 에너지 소비의 불균형이 있을 수 있으며, 이웃 노드와의 정보 비교는 필요한 정보 수집을 위해 많은 에너지가 필요하다. 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위해 본 논문은 센서 노드를 베이스 스테이션과의 거리에 따라 2-레벨로 나누고 각 상위 레벨에 속한 동일한 하위 레벨을 순차적으로 변경해가며 클러스터를 구성하는 기법을 제안한다.

  • WSN based on wireless sensor nodes, Sensor nodes can not be reassigned and recharged if they once placed. Each sensor node comes into being involved to a communication network with its limited energy. But the existing proposed clustering techniques, being applied to WSN environment with irregular dispersion of sensor nodes, have the network reliability issues which bring about a communication interruption with the local node feature of unbalanced distribution in WSN. Therefore, the communications participation of the sensor nodes in the suggested algorithm is extended by 25% as the sensor field divided in the light of the non-uniformed distribution of sensor nodes and a static or a dynamic clustering algorithm adopted according to its partition of sensor node density in WSN. And the entire network life cycle was extended by 14% to ensure the reliability of the network.

  • I studied about existent load distribution algorithms and the WLC(Weighted Least Connection) algerian that is using much at present to distribute the connection request of users to real servers efficiently in web cluster system. The efficiency of web cluster system is fallen by load imbalance between servers, because there is problem In inaccurate load status measuring of servers and measuring timing at these load distribution algorithms. In this paper, I suggest an algorithm that distributes load base on various load state of servers by real time using broadcasting RPC(Remote Procedure Call) when a user requests connection, and implement a prototype and experiment its performance. The experiment result shows that load imbalance phenomenon between reai sowers was improved greatly than existing method, and performance of web cluster system was improved by efficiency that response time is shortened.
