Experimental Studies on Heat Conductivity of Human Bone and Torsional Strength of Pasteurized Porcine Tibia (생체골의 열전도성 및 열처리된 골의 염전력 변화에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • In countries where confucianism is popular, it is extremely hard to get fresh cadaver bone for allograft. Therefore in Korea, the reimplantation of resected autoclaved autogenous bone segments has been increasingly performed for limb reconstruction of extremities with malignancies. To preserve the bone morphogenetic protein and mechanical strength of heated bone, many studies have reported that pasteurization of bone is far better than autoclaving over $100^{\circ}C$. Based on this assumption, replacement with a pasteurized autogenous bone graft after resection of a malignant bone tumor was deemed feasible for reconstruction. However, little is known about how high a temperature and how much time for pasteurization is needed to make tumors completely necrotic and to maintain the mechanical strength of bone. Consequantly, experimental studies were carried out to test heat conductivity of human bone and torsional strength of porcine tibia after pasteurization. First, two pairs of human proximal tibia and distal femur were used. We used T-type thermocoples to check core temperature of the bone and a computerized data acquisition system to record results. Without reaming of the medullary cavity, in a $60^{\circ}C$-thermostatic saline tub, it took 32 minutes and 50 seconds to raise the core temperature of human proximal tibia from $20^{\circ}C$ to $58^{\circ}C$, and 30 minutes for distal femur. In a $80^{\circ}C$ saline tub, it took 12 minutes and 50 seconds for proximal tibia, and 11 minutes and 10 seconds for distal femur. In contrast, using porcine tibia whose cortical thickness is similar to that of human tibia, after reaming of the medullary canal, it took less than 3 minutes and 30 seconds in a $60^{\circ}C$ saline tub, less than 1 minute and 45 seconds in a $70^{\circ}C$ tub, and less than 1 minute in a $80^{\circ}C$ tub to elevate core temperature from $20^{\circ}C$ to $58^{\circ}C$. Second, based on data of the heat conductivity test, we compared the torsional strength before and after pasteurization. Twenty matched pairs of porcine tibia were used, The left one was used as a non-heated control group and the right one as a pasteurized experimental group. Wighout reaming of the medullary cavity, there was no statistical difference in torsional strength between the pasteurization of the $60^{\circ}C$-35minute and of $80^{\circ}C$-15minute. With reaming, we also found no statistical difference among pasteurization of $60^{\circ}C$-15 minute, of $70^{\circ}C$-15 minute, and of $80^{\circ}C$-15 minute groups. In conclusion, reaming of the medullary canal is very helpful in saving pasteurization time. And, in a $60^{\circ}C$ saline tub, no significant weakness in torsional strength occurs with pasteurization of the bone for up to 35 minutes. Also no significant weakness in torsional strength occurs with an exposure of 15 minutes to the $80^{\circ}C$ saline tub.

Effect of Calving Season on Postpartum Milk Production and Persistency of TMR Fed Holstein Heifers (분만계절이 TMR 급여 홀스타인 육성우의 분만 후 유생산과 비유지속성에 미치는 영향)

  • Total of 20 Holstein calves of 10 calves (3.90±0.26 month of age) born in spring (S) and 10 calves (4.10±0.30 month of age) born in fall (F) were reared in this study for 24 months and diets were divided into separate feeding of forage and concentrates (C) and TMR (T). Therefore, 4 treatments in this study were composed of CS, CF, TS and TF with the factors of diets and calving season. After parturition of heifers, all animals were fed the same diet and milk production was recorded monthly. DM intakes in growing period were influenced by calving season, and those of the animals calved in fall were higher than in those calved in spring (P<0.01), but there were no significant differences by feeding method. CP intakes and TDN intakes were significantly influenced by calving season (P<0.05) and feeding method (P<0.001), and the animals calved in fall were about 1.2% higher than those calved in spring, and the animals fed TMR were about 4.7% higher than those fed concentrates and forage separately. Average, 9th and 10th months' milk yields were significantly influenced by feeding method in which those in the treatments fed TMR (TS, TF) were higher than in separate feeding of concentrates and forage (CS, CF; average P<0.05; 9th and 10th months P<0.01). Average milk persistency was also significantly influenced by calving season (P<0.05) and feeding method (P<0.01) and those in the animals calved in fall were higher than in spring and those of the TMR fed animals were also higher than in separate feeding of concentrates and forage. Milk persistency was similar to the results of milk yield, showing statistically significant differences affected by the feeding method at 9th and 10th months of late lactation (P<0.01), and it was about 8% higher in the animals fed TMR, showing higher tendency at 7th (P=0.12) and 8th months of late lactation (P=0.09). Therefore, it is expected that postpartum milk yield and milk persistency would be higher when the hiefers are fed TMR in growing period and calved in fall. Average milk fat content was influenced by feeding method. Milk fat content of the animals fed TMR during growing period were 7.8% higher than those fed concentrates and forage separately (P<0.01). This suggests that feeding TMR during growing period influenced first postpartum eating behavior, which stabilized the rumen and resulted in the increased milk fat. At 3rd month after calving, milk fat content was lower in the animals calved in spring than in those calved in fall, suggesting that it might have been influenced by the seasonal differences. MUN showed significant differences by feeding method in which those in separate feeding of concentrates and forages were higher especially in average, 4th, 5th and 6th months (average and 4th P<0.01; 5th and 6th months P<0.05). SCC was higher in the animals fed TMR than in those fed concentrates and forage separately especially in average, 3rd and 4th months after calving (P<0.01). In conclusion, when feeding TMR during growing period and calving in fall, it was not influenced by the high temperature in summer, and it resulted in the improved milk yield, milk persistency and milk fat content.

대기압 플라즈마에 의한 히드라 재생 연구

  • 플라즈마(plasma)란 전자와 이온이 분리된 제 4의 물질 상태이다. 이 연구의 핵심인 플라즈마 제트(plasma jet)로 재생과 출아를 하는 히드라(Hydra)를 처리하여 플라즈마가 히드라의 출아 정도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해 연구를 진행하였다. 히드라는 자포동물문 히드로충강 히드로충목 히드라과 히드라속에 속하며 무척추동물이다. 몸의 길이는 약 5-15mm정도이며 촉수가 6-8개가 있다. 먹이 섭취는 촉수로 먹이를 마비시켜 입을 통해 먹는다. 히드라는 못이나 늪 등의 풀잎이나 물속에 떨어진 낙엽과 썩은 나뭇가지에 붙어 산다. 특히 히드라는 영양 상태의 좋고 나쁨에 따라 무성생식을 하거나 유성생식을 한다. 또한 약 1/200의 아주 작은 단위에서도 재생을 하는 특성을 가지고 있다. 이러한 히드라에 플라즈마 처리를 함으로써 플라즈마가 히드라의 출아 특성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해 연구를 수행하였다. 실험에서 사용한 플라즈마 소스는 대기압 플라즈마 제트(Atmospheric pressure plasma jet)이며 Ar(아르곤) 가스를 이용하여 플라즈마를 발생시켰다. 플라즈마가 발생되면 생체용액과 반응을 하면서 ROS(reactive oxygen species)와 RNS(reactive nitrogen species)가 생성되는데 이 활성 종들이 플라즈마의 주요한 특성이라고 할 수 있다. ROS와 RNS에 의해서 세포가 사멸을 하거나 활성화되기도 한다. 또한, ROS와 RNS가 생체 시스템에 영향을 주는 것은 매우 잘 알려져 있다. 이 점을 이용하여 히드라를 1분, 5분, 10분 동안 플라즈마 처리하여 히드라의 출아 특성을 관찰하였다. 관찰한 결과 1분 처리한 히드라 Group과 5분 처리한 히드라 Group이 가장 개체 수 변화가 뛰어났고 10분 처리한 히드라Group은 오히려 개체 수가 감소하였다.

  • 38 strains were isolated in order to utilize lignin degrading ability from soil and compost. A organism having high lignin degrading ability of the isolated strains determined morphologcal and biochemical characteristics. Enrichment technique yielded a lignin degrading bacterium characterized as Pseudomonas sp. LC-2. This strain was able to degrade lignin which are the true representatives of native lignin and transform lignin to a lot of aromatic compounds as HPLC analysis of culture. By polyacrylamide gel analysis, it was determined that peroxidase consisted of three enzymes, with only one, the lignin peroxidase having high activity.

Effects of Green Tea Powder on Dough Rheology and Gelatinization Characteristics (녹차가루 첨가에 따른 밀가루 반죽의 물성 및 호화특성 변화)

  • The effects of green tea powder (GTP) on the rheological properties of dough and gelatinization characteristics were evaluated by farinograph, extensograph, amylograph and DSC. The flours used were high strength flour (HF: 12.5% protein) and blend of 50% high strength flour and 50% low strength flour (HLF: 10.5% protein). As the amount of GTP increased, water absorption, development time and weakness of the dough decreased for both flours, but dough stability increased only for HLF; the extension of the dough decreased but the resistance to extension increased. The pasting temperature increased and maximum viscosity decreased. On the other hand, with the addition of green tea extract to the wheat starch, transition onset temperature, transition peak temper-ature and enthalpy decreased, demonstrating that catechins in green tea facilitate the starch crystal melting.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of anaerobic methane fermentation using several organic wastes. The substrates used in this study were food wastes, vegetable wastes, and cow manure. The substrates were mixed with inocula (mixed methanogenic fluid) at a ratio of 1:1, and several parameters such as TS, VS, sCOD, and biogas production have been monitored. Anaerobic degradation of food wastes were occurred in the intial stage of cultivation, whereas that of vegetable wastes were occurred in the late stage. However, in case of cow manure, the degradation was occurred two times both in the intial and the late stage of reaction.

  • 현재 기상청에서 제공하는 강수자료는 정시자료로서 수문학적 의미의 임의지속시간 강수자료라 볼 수 없다. 따라서 이러한 정시자료를 임의지속시간 강수자료로 변환하여 사용하여야 한다. 이러한 환산계수는 국외에서는 Weiss(1964), Dwyer와 Reed(1995) 등에 의하여 제시되어졌고, 국내에서는 김규호 등(1988)등이 환산계수를 제시한 바 있다. 그렇지만 기존 연구의 자료들은 목측에 의한 자료로서 많은 불확실성을 가지고 있다. 최근 관측기기의 발달에 의하여 기상청에서는 1분 단위의 관측 자료를 구축하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 1분 단위 강수자료를 이용하여 수문학적 의미의 임의지속시간 강수자료를 적출하여 보다 정확하게 강수자료의 환산계수(Adjustment factor)를 구축하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 서울지방 7개 자동기상관측소(AWS:Automatic Weather Station)에서 관측된 6개년(2000년${\sim}$2005년) 1분 강수자료를 이용하여 고정시간 연 최대강수량과 임의시간 연 최대강수량간의 관계를 연구하였다. 1분 강수자료를 이용하여 고정시간과 임의지속시간에 대한 연 최대치 강수 계열을 구축.도시한 후 선형회귀분석에 의해 선정된 계수를 환산계수로 제시하였다. 고정시간 1시간부터 24시간까지의 최대강수량과 임의시간 간격 최대강수량의 비율을 분석한 결과 환산계수는 지속시간이 증가함에 따라 비선형적으로 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 관계를 이용하면 정시 강수자료를 보다 정확하게 임의지속시간 강수자료로 환산할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • 본 연구는 페라이트의 Fe 양이온 일부를 Ni, Mn, Co등으로 치환하여 M-ferrite를 제조하여 열화학적 2단계 물 분해 반응의 특성을 비교 평가하였고, XRD, SEM, GC등의 분석으로 각 금속산화물의 특성을 확인하였다. M-ferrites 는 고상법으로 제조하였다. 각각의 M-ferrite에 대한 열적환원은 1573K 에서 진행하였고 물 분해 반응은 1273K 에서 실시하였다. 이 반응에서 생성된 가스는 전량 포집하여 GC를 통해 분석하였다. 반응 전후의 시료에 대하여 SEM, XRD를 분석하여 GC결과와 함께 금속산화물의 산화환원반응 특성을 고찰하였다. 그 결과로서 물 분해 반응 후 M-ferrite (M=Co, Ni, Mn)의 생성을 XRD를 통하여 확인할 수 있었고, 물 분해 반응과의 비교결과 격자상수의 증대가 M-ferrite내의 산소의 환원에 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었다. SEM결과에서는 4cycle의 물 분해 반응 후 Mn-ferrite의 심한 sintering 현상을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • This paper proposes the PLL method using positive sequence voltage which is estimated by full-order state observer to find an accurate phase angle under the condition of unbalanced utility voltage. The proposed method uses the full-order state observer instead of existing method(APF All Pass Filter) to find a positive sequence of a utility voltage and this proposed method improves transient response of an estimated phase angle when a three-phase utility voltage becomes unbalanced. To compare proposed method withexisting method, experiments have been done for a phase angle detection of utility voltage when a three-phase utility voltage becomes unbalanced. Their results show that transient state response of proposed method is improved.

Effect of Air Entraiment Agent, Neopor-400 on Physical Properties of Fly Ash-Based Concrete (기포재(Neopor-400)가 Fly Ash-Concrete의 물성에 미치는 영향)

  • 일반 콘크리트 (설계강도 $\sigma_{28}=210 kg/\textrm{cm}^2$)에 산업폐기물인 Fly Ash를 혼합하고 기포재 (Air Entrainment Agent) 첨가에 따른 Fly Ash-Concrete의 물성 변화를 시험하였다. Fly Ash-Concrete의 slump를 6, 8, 10cm로 고정시킨후, 각각의 slump 반죽상태에다 기포재, Neopor-400을 25,000cc/$\textrm{m}^3$, 50,000cc/$\textrm{m}^3$, 75,000cc/$\textrm{m}^3$으로 증가시켰다. 이때 기포재 증가에 따른 공기량 변화와 압축강도 $(\sigma_7 과 \sigma_{28})$ 를 측정하였다. 또한 기포재를 첨가한후, 60분과 90분까지 방치하고, 60분후와 90분후의 공기량과 압축강도 $(\sigma_7 과 \sigma_{28})$ 변화를 측정하였다. 시험결과에 의하면, 기포재가 첨가되는 시간에서부터 60분, 90분 동안 방치하면 공기량은 감소된다. 동시에 압축강도는 점진적으로 증가된다. KSF 5405가 요구하는 slump값이 90분 이내에 $12\pm0.5$의 범위에 들어 가기 위해서는 기포재는 50,000cc/$\textrm{m}^3$-75,000cc/$\textrm{m}^3$만큼 첨가되어야 한다. 이때의 7일 압축강도가 170-200kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$이고 28일 압축강도는 215-290kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$이다. 이 값은 설계강도 $\sigma$28=210kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ 보다 최고 약 40%까지 증가율을 보여 주었다.
