Synthesis of Ultrathin Polymer Films by Self Assembly (자기 집합에 의한 고분자 초박막의 합성)

  • Cholesterol-containing surfactant was synthesized, and it was sonicated with monomer in water to form a vesicle solution. This vesicle solution was dried to construct a membrane which had a molecular multilayer structure. Using UV irradiation the monomer in this membrane were polymerized, and then surfactant was extracted by organic solvent. Using a X-ray diffractometer, the thickness of one layer and the regularity of the multilayer were measured. And scanning electron microscopy was conducted for fractured polymer film.

  • 최근 고집적화 구조는 저항(resistance)과 정전용량 (capacitance)에 의한 신호 지연 (RC delay) 증가로 인한 혼선 (cross-talk noise)과 전력소모 (power dissipation)등의 문제를 발생시킨다. 칩 성능에 영향을 미치는 제한인자를 최소화하기 위해서는 저저항 배선 금속과 저유전상수 (low-k)의 층간 절연막 (IMD, intermetal dielectric) 물질이 필요하다. 최근 PECVD (plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition)를 이용하여 증착시킨 유기살리케이트 (OSG, organosilicate glass)는 가장 유망한 저유전상수 물질로 각광받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 제일원리 연구를 통하여 OSG의 전구체 중에 하나인 DEMS 문자를 모델링하고, 에너지적으로 가장 안정한 구조를 찾아서 각 원자 간의 결합에 따른 해리에너지 (dissociation energy)를 계산하고, DEMS가 H-terminated Si 표면과 반응하는 기구에 대해 고찰하였다. 최적화된 DEMS 분자의 구조를 찾았고 DEMS 분자가 결합이 깨져 조각 분자군으로 될 때의 에너지들을 계산하였다. 계산된 해리에너지로부터 DEMS 분자의 O 원자와 C분자의 결합이 깨져서 $C_2H_5$를 조각 분자군으로 생성할 확률이 총 8가지의 경우에서 가장 높다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 8 가지의 해리된 DEMS 조각 분자군들이 H-terminated Si 표면과 반응할 때의 반응에너지를 계산한 결과 표면의 Si 원자와 DEMS 분자에서 $C_2H_5$가 해리되어 생성된 조각 분자군의 O 원자가 결합을 하고 부산물로 $C_2H_6$를 생성하는 반응이 가장 선호된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. DEMS 분자로 증착시킨 OSG에 대하여 제일원리법을 이용하여 계산한 연구는 보고된 바 없기 때문에, DEMS 분자의 각 원자 간의 해리에너지와 Si 기판과의 반응에너지는 추후 연구개발의 중요한 기초 자료가 될 수 있다.

Preparation of Molecularly Imprinted Poly(methacrylic acid) and Its HPLC Separation Characteristics of Retinoids (분자각인 Poly(methacrylic acid)의 제조 및 레티노이드 화합물의 HPLC 분리 특성)

  • Molecularly imprinted polymers were prepared in particle forms by crosslinking methacrylic acid (MAA)) using all trans-retinoic acid as a template. The HPLC column packed with the prepared molecular imprinted polymers showed high capability in separation of retinoid derivatives. The column capacity factor and selectivity increased with increasing MAA to template ratio when the incorporated template amount was fixed, as it statistically generated more binding sites between host molecules and template. Molecularly imprinted polymer particles prepared via an emulsion polymerization method were round-shaped and their sizes were more uniformly distributed, but their separation capability was inferior to those obtained by solution polymerization method. It was presumably because the loss of interaction strength between MAA and the template due to hydrogen bonding either between MAA and water or between template and water during the synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers.

Bubble Nucleation in Polymer Solutions (고분자 용액에서의 기포 형성)

  • The molecular cluster model for the homogeneous bubble nucleation rather than the classical nucleation theory was extended to predict the bubble nucleation events in elastomers(cross-linked polymers), polymers and polymer which are dissolved in the organic solvent. The classical theory assumes the formation of the critical bubble while the molecular cluster model assumes the critical cluster as for the initiation of the bubble nucleation. For the bubble nucleation in elastomers and polymers, the strain energy overcome by a critical bubble was also considered. The calculation results for the number of bubbles nucleated in elastormers and polymer solutions, which are about 10$\^$8/∼10$\^$12/ bubbles/㎤ are in good agreement with observed ones.

  • 아조벤젠 고분자는 가역적 광이성화 과정에 의한 광유도 복굴절을 일으키는 물질로 광정보저장용 및 광소자용 매질로서 많은 연구가 이루어져 왔다. 일반적으로 아조벤젠 고분자는 rod-like 형태의 안정한 trans 상과 banana-like 형태의 준 안정한 cis 상의 이성체가 존재하고 이 두 이성체는 광에 의해 여기 되어 서로 다른 이성체로의 이성화가 일어나는데, 특히 막대 모양의 trans 상의 분자가 여기 시키는 광의 편광 방향에 수직으로 정렬하면서 복굴절이 유도되며 cis 상의 분자는 복굴절의 유도와 무관하다고 알려져 있다.   • The intrinsic reactivity of $S_N2$reaction in the gas phase was discussed MO theoretically (CNDO/2). We investigated the changes in geometry and electronic structure by means of the partial geometry optimization for reactantes, transition states, and products with various nucleophiles and leaving groups. We found that it was possible to discuss qualitatively the reactivity of $S_N2$ reaction with CNDO/2 MO calculation and the reactivity was controlled by basicity and of induced polarizability.

마이크로폴라 탄성이론

  • 마이크로폴라 탄성이론은 다른 마이크로연속체(microcontinuum) 이론에 비해 적용이 간단하며, 실제 많은 물리적인 현상을 규명하는 데 다양하게 이용할 수 있다. 특히 고전 탄성이론에 의해 적절하게 해결될 수 없는 덤벨(dumbell) 분자로 이루어진 물체, 액체 결정체(liquid crystals), 과립상(granular)의 분자로 구성된 물체와 복합 섬유재료(composite fibrous materials) 등은 마 이크로폴라 탄성이론에 의해 잘 해결될 수 있다. 또한 마이크로폴라 탄성이론은 고체 내에서의 파의 전파(propagation)와 분산(dispersion), 구멍 주위의 응력집중과 외부 하중을 받는 물체에 있어 균열끝에서의 응력 분포 등의 고체역학 문제들은 물론이고, 경계층(boundary layer), 난 류(turbulence), 유체 유동의 불안정(instability)과 표면장력 현상 등의 유체역학에서의 복잡한 문제들을 해결하는 데에도 이용할 수 있다. 마이크로폴라 탄성이론은 고전 탄성이론에 비해 상 대적으로 새롭고 미개척 분야이긴 하지만 이론의 기반이 확고하기 때문에 앞으로의 회전응력 측정장치의 개발을 통해 미소구조의 영향을 고려해야 하는 많은 문제들을 해결하는데 큰 기여를 할 것으로 전망된다.

Current status and prospects of genomics and bioinformatics in grapes (포도 유전체 연구현황 및 전망)

  • Grape is one of the important fruit crops around the world, and exposed to disease and pests, and internal or environmental stresses in the vineyards. Breeding and cultivation of new varieties of high quality-grapes resistant to diseases and pests and tolerant to stresses are the most important steps in the grape production. However, conventional breeding has laborious and time-consuming procedures in maintaining and selecting seedlings in the fields. Development of molecular breeding technology through understanding of molecular mechanism of useful traits can be used as an alternative strategy to improve the efficiency of grape breeding program by cross hybridization in grape development programs. The completion of the grape genome sequencing project provided the way to discover the novel genes and to analyze their functions. Comparative genomics, transcriptomic analysis, and the genome-wide identification and analysis of useful genes as well as development of molecular marker for valuable traits could provide novel insights into fruit quality and the responses to diseases and stresses, and can be used as important information in molecular breeding programs for grape development.

  • The CNV (Copy Number Variation) which is one of the genetic structural variations in human genome is closely related with the function of gene. In particular, the genome-wide association studies for genetic diseased persons have been researched. However, there have been few studies which infer the genetic function of CNV with normal human. In this paper, we propose the analysis method to reveal the functional relationship between common CNV and genes without considering their genomic loci. To achieve that, we propose the data integration method for heterogeneity biological data and novel measurement which can calculate the correlation between common CNV and genes. To verify the significance of proposed method, we has experimented several verification tests with GO database. The result showed that the novel measurement had enough significance compared with random test and the proposed method could systematically produce the candidates of genetic function which have strong correlation with common CNV.

Preparation and Characterization of the Histidine-graft-Low Molecular Weight Water-Soluble Chitosan as a Gene Carrier (유전자 전달체로서 히스티딘이 결합된 저분자량 수용성 키토산의 제조와 특성)

  • To improve transfection efficiency, we prepared histidine-low molecular weight water-soluble chitosan (LMWSC) having the potential to form complex with DNA as a cationic polymer. Histidine-LMWSC was synthesized by the esterification reaction and removing phthaloyl group. The histidine-LMWSC was characterized using FT-IR, $^1H$ NMR spectra. Histidine-LMWSC was complexed with plasmid DNA (pDNA) in various polymer/DNA (N/P) weight ratios, and the complex was identified using gel retardation assay. The particle sizes of the hisitidine-LMWSC/DNA complexes were measured on a DLS instrument by fixing the histidine-LMWSC/DNA weight ratio of 10/1. Owing to the utilization of a large excess amount of cationic LMWSC against anionic DNA, the particle size of histidine-LMWSC/DNA complexes was in the range of 100~200 nm. Therefore, histidine-LMWSC will be useful in the development of gene carriers.
