  • 기후변화에 따른 이상기후의 영향으로 과거 관측되지 않은 태풍, 가뭄, 폭우, 홍수 및 해일과 같은 재해의 빈도가 증가하고 있다. 특히, 가뭄은 장기간에 걸쳐 피해를 야기하여 대책을 장기적으로 고려하지 않으면 전 지구적으로 심각한 피해가 초래될 것으로 전망되고 있다. 많은 연구에서 가뭄에 따른 재해를 평가하기 위한 분석이 수행되고 있으며, 최근 연구에서는 토양수분을 통한 가뭄재해 분석이 대두되고 있다. 토양수분은 토양에 포함된 수분의 평균값을 의미하며 물 순환 관점에서 매우 중요한 수문변량 중 하나이다. 그러나 기존 연구에서 사용되고 있는 실측 토양수분은 자료의 기간이 짧고 검증이 수행되지 않아 분석 시 결과의 신뢰성이 결여되는 문제점이 있다. 일부 토양수분 연구에서는 위성 관측 자료를 통한 분석을 수행하였지만 실측 자료와의 상관성 문제로 인하여 모의된 결과의 활용은 어려운 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 Quantile mapping 기반의 편의 보정 방법을 제시하여 용담 유역 내 6개 지점와 전국에 흩어져 있는 6개 지점(철원장흥, 수원, 대곡, 전주, 오창가곡, 춘천신북)의 실측자료와 위성 자료 기반의 재해석 토양수분 (re-analysis soil moisture data)에 따른 토양수분 모의 기법을 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 모형에 따른 결과는 가뭄재해 평가 시 기초자료로써 신뢰성 있는 정보로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • This study aims to develop a drought monitoring scheme based on groundwater which can be exploit for water supply under drought stress. In this context, groundwater level can be used as a proxy for better understanding the temporal evolution of drought state. First, kernel density estimator is presented in the monthly groundwater level over the entire national groundwater stations. The estimated cumulative distribution function is then utilized to map the monthly groundwater level into the standardized groundwater level index (SGI). The SGI for each station was eventually converted into the index for major cities through the Thiessen polygon approach. We provide a drought classification for a given SGI to better characterize the degree of drought condition. Ultimately, we conclude that the proposed monitoring framework enables a more reliable estimation of the drought stress, especially for a limited water supply area.

Utilization Behavior of Medical Services According to Socioeconomic Characteristics and Prevalence (사회경제적 특성 및 유병에 따른 의료서비스 이용 행태)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the utilization behavior of medical services according to the characteristics of socioeconomic status (SES) and prevalence by using the 6th National Health and Nutrition Survey data for adults over 25 years old. Frequency and technical statistical analysis, ANOVA, ${\chi}^2$-test, and regression analysis were performed using SPSS 23.0. The results were as follows: more female than male, 65 years old and over, high school graduate, and unemployed and income quintiles were similar. The SES score considering education level, function, and income quintiles was the highest at 7-8, and most of the respondents felt moderate about their subjective health condition. The mean number of prevalence was $1.07{\pm}1.497$, the mean utilization of outpatient services was $0.50{\pm}0.045$, and the mean number of inpatient services use was $0.12{\pm}0.454$. Depending on general characteristics, there was a significant difference between subjects with prevalence and subjective health conditions. Higher age was associated with lower education, skill level, income, and SES score, and average prevalence was associated with poor subjective health conditions. More serious prevalence was associated with greater utilization of inpatient services. More chronic prevalence was associated with utilization of outpatient services. In other words, higher SES score was associated with lower overall use of medical services. Lower SES score was associated with higher use of medical services. In conclusion, we must develop appropriate health education programs that can prevent diseases in groups with low socioeconomic characteristics. There is the need to construct and implement a community-based appropriate health service system so that proper medical services can be used.

Analysis of the Factors Influencing PM10 & PM2.5 in Korea by Panel Quantile-Regression (패널 분위회귀분석을 통한 한국의 미세먼지 국내외 영향요인 분석)

  • This study analyzed the influence of domestic and Chinese factors on fine dust(PM10 & PM2.5) in Korea by using the panel quantile regression. Daily analysis was conducted for 11 regions in Korea. For domestic factors, electricity demand and traffic volume, and for Chinese factors, interaction term of Chinese three cities' fine dust and the domestic west wind are used. As a result, the influence of domestic factors was different when the domestic fine dust concentration was high and low. When the fine dust concentration was low, electricity demand had a positive effect only on PM2.5, and didn't affect PM10 in the national analysis. In regional analysis, the amount of electricity demand had a significant effect on fine dust and ultrafine dust only in the capital area and Chungcheong. Electricity demand was found to significantly increase both PM2.5 and PM10 when it was high. On the other hand, it was confirmed that the Chinese factor always had a significant effect regardless of the concentration of PM10 and PM2.5. Therefore, in order to solve the problem of high concentration of fine dust, in addition to international cooperation, the reduction of PM2.5 generated by domestic thermal power generation should also be strengthened compared to the present.

Bivariate skewness, kurtosis and surface plot (이변량 왜도, 첨도 그리고 표면그림)

  • In this study, we propose bivariate skewness and kurtosis statistics and suggest a surface plot that can visually implement bivariate data containing the correlation coefficient. The skewness statistic is expressed in the form of a paired real values because this represents the skewed directions and degrees of the bivariate random sample. The kurtosis has a positive value which can determine how thick the tail part of the data is compared to the bivariate normal distribution. Moreover, the surface plot implements bivariate data based on the quantile vectors. Skewness and kurtosis are obtained and surface plots are explored for various types of bivariate data. With these results, it has been found that the values of the skewness and kurtosis reflect the characteristics of the bivariate data implemented by the surface plots. Therefore, the skewness, kurtosis and surface plot proposed in this paper could be used as one of valuable descriptive statistical methods for analyzing bivariate distributions.

An analysis on the Factors of the Consumption Expenditure on K-beauty Service Industry (K-beauty 서비스산업 소비지출의 영향요인 분석)

  • This study aims to propose for the K-beauty industry by analyzing the consumption situation. The data used the household trend survey and GDP from 06' to 16' provided by the National Statistical Office. The analysis results of the influencing factors of expenditure on the K-beauty service industry per household resulted in the increase of expenditure on hair and beauty services and their goods when ordinary income decreased, it was possible to understand the similarities between the change of Engel's coefficient. It was difference in the proportion of consumption of beauty services account by income quintiles.The increase of the GNI had an effect on that of the consumption of K-beauty. The above results show that beauty service industry is relevant to the items of households' income and expenditure. Plans are needed to take into account national economic trends and consumption patterns.

Estimation of Car Insurance Loss Ratio Using the Peaks over Threshold Method (POT방법론을 이용한 자동차보험 손해율 추정)

  • In car insurance, the loss ratio is the ratio of total losses paid out in claims divided by the total earned premiums. In order to minimize the loss to the insurance company, estimating extreme quantiles of loss ratio distribution is necessary because the loss ratio has essential prot and loss information. Like other types of insurance related datasets, the distribution of the loss ratio has heavy-tailed distribution. The Peaks over Threshold(POT) and the Hill estimator are commonly used to estimate extreme quantiles for heavy-tailed distribution. This article compares and analyzes the performances of various kinds of parameter estimating methods by using a simulation and the real loss ratio of car insurance data. In addition, we estimate extreme quantiles using the Hill estimator. As a result, the simulation and the loss ratio data applications demonstrate that the POT method estimates quantiles more accurately than the Hill estimation method in most cases. Moreover, MLE, Zhang, NLS-2 methods show the best performances among the methods of the GPD parameters estimation.

A Graphical Method to Assess Goodness-of-Fit for Inverse Gaussian Distribution (역가우스분포에 대한 적합도 평가를 위한 그래프 방법)

  • A Q-Q plot is an effective and convenient graphical method to assess a distributional assumption of data. The primary step in the construction of a Q-Q plot is to obtain a closed-form expression to represent the relation between observed quantiles and theoretical quantiles to be plotted in order that the points fall near the line y = a + bx. In this paper, we introduce a Q-Q plot to assess goodness-of-fit for inverse Gaussian distribution. The procedure is based on the distributional result that a transformed random variable $Y={\mid}\sqrt{\lambda}(X-{\mu})/{\mu}\sqrt{X}{\mid}$ follows a half-normal distribution with mean 0 and variance 1 when a random variable X has an inverse Gaussian distribution with location parameter ${\mu}$ and scale parameter ${\lambda}$. Simulations are performed to provide a guideline to interpret the pattern of points on the proposed inverse Gaussian Q-Q plot. An illustrative example is provided to show the usefulness of the inverse Gaussian Q-Q plot.

Exploration of temporal distribution of design rainfall (설계강우량의 우량주상도 산정기법 개발)

  • 설계홍수량의 결정은 하천기본계획, 댐 설계 등 수리·수문학적으로 중요한 변수 중 하나이다. 설계홍수량 산정을 위해서는 확률강우량 산정 및 강우-유출 모형의 일련의 과정을 통해 이루어지며, 홍수량 산정 표준지침(2018)에 자세히 수록되어 있다. 그러나 국내외 다양한 연구에서는 빈도별 확률홍수량의 경우 계측된 유량자료를 활용하여 직접 홍수빈도해석을 수행하는 것이 가장 정확한 방법이라 알려져 있지만, 홍수빈도해석을 위한 자연유량이 부족할 뿐만 아니라 홍수수문곡선(hydrograph)을 얻을 수 없는 단점이 있다. 더불어 우리나라의 경우 주요지점을 제외하고는 계측이 잘 이루어지지 않고 있으며, 수위-유량관계곡선(rating-curve)을 통해 산정된 유량자료를 활용하고 있어 자료의 신뢰성이 낮은 문제가 있다. 이러한 이유로 우리나라에서는 강우-유출 모형을 활용하여 빈도별 홍수량을 산정하고 있으며, 확률강우량의 시간분포를 입력자료로 하여 홍수수문곡선을 취득하고 있다. 그러나 확률강우량의 우량주상도 변환시 국내에서는 일반적으로 Huff 4분위법을 활용하지만, 실제홍수사상과 비교했을 때 과소 및 과대 추정하는 경우가 많다. 더불어 분포된 우량주상도를 면밀히 살펴보면 빈도해석된 확률강우량과 비교하였을 때 상당히 낮은 강우 빈도를 가지고 있다. 즉, 우량주상도는 특정 지속시간의 확률강우량을 Huff 분포를 활용하여 얻어지지만, 관측소별로 산정된 확률강우량의 빈도개념이 무너진다는 것이다. 이러한 결과로 인해 확률홍수량은 확률강우량과의 빈도개념의 상이하다고 할 수 있으며, 홍수빈도해석과의 비교에서도 차이를 보이고 있어 우량주상도의 개선 연구가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존에 일관적으로 사용되어지는 Huff 3분위 50%를 지양하고, Huff의 다양한 분위(quartile)과 Blocking 방법 등을 비교·검토하여 보다 국내 실정에 부합하는 확률강우량의 우량주상도를 제공할 수 있는 연구를 진행하고자 한다.

  • It is necessary to describe a data set after collection of data in elementary statistics course. Two major numerical summary of the data set may be measures of central location and dispersion. There are various unmerical summary methods in presenting how data are dispersed and each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. Quartiles are discussed among several methods to describe dispersion of data set. When data type is discrete, exact quartile values are sometimes ambiguous to find, whereas exact quartile values are obtained for contionuous data. Examples of both data types are given. Programs listed below may be used to provide quartiles in MINITAB and SAS.
