Recently, due to the development of the Internet and electronic devices, there has been an enormous increase in the amount of available knowledge and information. As this growth has proceeded, studies on large-scale ontological reasoning have been actively carried out. In general, a machine learning program or knowledge engineer measures and provides a degree of confidence for each triple in a large ontology. Yet, the collected ontology data contains specific uncertainty and reasoning such data can cause vagueness in reasoning results. In order to solve the uncertainty issue, we propose an RDFS reasoning approach that utilizes confidence values indicating degrees of uncertainty in the collected data. Unlike conventional reasoning approaches that have not taken into account data uncertainty, by using the in-memory based cluster computing framework Spark, our approach computes confidence values in the data inferred through RDFS-based reasoning by applying methods for uncertainty estimating. As a result, the computed confidence values represent the uncertainty in the inferred data. To evaluate our approach, ontology reasoning was carried out over the LUBM standard benchmark data set with addition arbitrary confidence values to ontology triples. Experimental results indicated that the proposed system is capable of running over the largest data set LUBM3000 in 1179 seconds inferring 350K triples.

Recently, there has been a growing interest in the use of WLAN technology due to its easy deployment, flexibility and so on. Examples of WLAN applications range from standard internet services such as Web access to real-time services with strict latency/throughput requirements such as multimedia video and voice over IP on wireless network environments. Fair and efficient distribution of the traffic loads among APs(Access Points) has become an important issue for improved utilization of WLAN. This paper focuses on an AP selection scheme for achieving better load balance, and hence increasing network resource utilization for each user on wireless network environments. This scheme makes use of active scan patterns and the network delay as main parameters of load measurement and AP selection. This scheme attempts to estimate the AP traffic loads by observing the up/down delay and utilize the results to maximize the link resource efficiency through load balancing. We compared the proposed scheme with the original SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio)-based scheme using the NS-2(Network Simulation.2). We found that the proposed scheme improves the throughput by 12.5% and lower the network up/down link delay by 36.84% and 60.42%, respectively. All in all, the new scheme can significantly increase overall network throughput and reduce up/down delay while providing excellent quality for voice and video services.

In wireless sensor networks, various schemes have been proposed to store and process sensed data efficiently. A Data-Centric Storage(DCS) scheme assigns distributed data regions to sensors and stores sensed data to the sensor which is responsible for the data region overlapping the data. The DCS schemes have been proposed to reduce the communication cost for transmitting data and process exact queries and range queries efficiently. Recently, KDDCS that readjusts the distributed data regions dynamically to sensors based on K-D tree was proposed to overcome the storage hot-spots. However, the existing DCS schemes including KDDCS suffer from Query Hot-Spots that are formed if the query regions are not uniformly distributed. As a result, it causes reducing the life time of the sensor network. In this paper, we propose a new DCS scheme, called TPDCS(Time-Parameterized DCS), that avoids the problems of storage hot-spots and query hot-spots. To decentralize the skewed. data and queries, the data regions are assigned by a time dimension as well as data dimensions in our proposed scheme. Therefore, TPDCS extends the life time of sensor networks. It is shown through various experiments that our scheme outperform the existing schemes.
Nowadays, transmission bandwidth for network traffic is increasing and the type is varied such as peer-to-peer (PZP), real-time video, and so on, because distributed computing environment is spread and various network-based applications are developed. However, as PZP traffic occupies much volume among Internet backbone traffics, transmission bandwidth and quality of service(QoS) of other network applications such as web, ftp, and real-time video cannot be guaranteed. In previous research, the port-based technique which checks well-known port number and the Deep Packet Inspection(DPI) technique which checks the payload of packets were suggested for solving the problem of the P2P traffics, however there were difficulties to apply those methods to detection of P2P traffics because P2P applications are not used well-known port number and payload of packets may be encrypted. A proposed algorithm for identifying P2P heavy traffics based on flow transport parameters and behavioral characteristics can solve the problem of the port-based technique and the DPI technique. The focus of this paper is to identify P2P heavy traffic flows rather than all P2P traffics. P2P traffics are consist of two steps i)searching the opposite peer which have some contents ii) downloading the contents from one or more peers. We define P2P flow patterns on these P2P applications' features and then implement the system to classify P2P heavy traffics.
With increasing multicore system, much effort has been put on the performance improvement of its application. Because multicore system has multiple processing devices in one system, its processing power increases compared to the single core system. However in many cases the advantages of multicore can not be exploited fully because the existing software and hardware were designed to be suitable for single core. When the existing software runs on multicore, its performance improvement is limited by the bottleneck of sharing resources and the inefficient use of cache memory on multicore. Therefore, according as the number of core increases, it doesn't show performance improvement and shows performance drop in the worst case. In this paper we propose a method of performance improvement of multicore system by applying Flow-Level Parallelism to the existing TCP/IP network application and operating system. The proposed method sets up the execution environment so that each core unit operates independently as much as possible in network application, TCP/IP stack on operating system, device driver, and network interface. Moreover it distributes network traffics to each core unit through L2 switch. The proposed method allows to minimize the sharing of application data, data structure, socket, device driver, and network interface between each core. Also it allows to minimize the competition among cores to take resources and increase the hit ratio of cache. We implemented the proposed methods with 8 core system and performed experiment. Experimental results show that network access speed and bandwidth increase linearly according to the number of core.
In virtual memory system, when a process attempts to access a page that is not resident in memory, the system generates and handles a page fault that causes unpredictable delay. So virtual memory system is not appropriate for the real-time system, because it can increase the deadline miss ratio of real-time task. In multimedia system, virtual memory system may degrade the QoS(quality of service) of multimedia application. Furthermore, in general-purpose operating system, whenever a new task is dynamically loaded, virtual memory system suffers from extensive page fault that cause transient overloading state. In this paper, we present efficient overloading control mechanism called RBPFH (Rate-Based Page Fault Handling). A significant feature of the RBPFH algorithm is page fault dispersion that keeps page fault ratio from exceeding available bound by monitoring current system resources. Furthermore, whenever the amount of available system resource is changed, the RBPFH algorithm dynamically adjusts the page fault handling rate. The RBPFH algorithm is implemented in the Linux operating system and its performance measured. The results demonstrate RBPFH\`s superior performance in supporting multimedia applications. Experiment result shows that RBPFH could achieve 10%∼20% reduction in deadline miss ratio and 50%∼60% reduction in average delay.
As the post-cold war era and globalization go on, national security problems which were not traditional national security problems such as terrorism, crime, environmental disasters, economic crises, cyber-terrorism, diseases, and energy problems threat humanity and nations and demands changes. Also, with the change, the concept of "big government" has emerged as the role of nation expanded. The modern society sees every country change from small government to big government in order to realize the establishment of welfare state. A comprehensive interpretation of security is needed in order to comprehensive protection of citizens beyond outside invasion such as crime, new disaster, terrorism. In Korea, incidents such as Cheonan-Ham, Yeonpeyong-Do, foot-and-mouth disease, Ddos terrorism, pirates hostages, mad cow disease, AI are happening and the humanitarian support for North Korea and the summit of South and North Korea are at a standstill. Also, National emergency management system, comprehensive emergency management center, countrol tower, national security system, cooperation with citizens, establishment of legal and institutional system are needed. The importance of this research is on the reestablishment of new national security and emergency management system according to the comparison between the national security and counter-terrorism system of Korea and that of the United States which is a leading country in this field. Also, the establishment of national emergency management act is needed as a statute for effective function as currently various laws and administrative organizations are dispersed.
This research examines the effect of area level characteristics on individual health, particularly focusing on the vulnerable populations in Seoul. We consider adult individuals whose family income is under 1.5 million won, who are aged 65 and over, or who have neither spouse nor job but aged 40 and over as vulnerable populations. Using the 2005 Seoul Citizens' Health Interview Survey, we conducted multilevel analyses to simultaneously investigate the effect of area and individual level characteristics on health. Between-area variance of self-rated health status was greater for the elderly population than for all populations. Area material deprivation index and happiness index were associated with the self-rated health of economically disadvantaged populations. Vulnerable populations showed greater between-area variances in emotional health than the same for all populations. Area happiness index, material deprivation index, the proportion of households below poverty line and street safety showed statistically significant association with emotional health. The effect of area characteristics were particularly salient for the emotional health of elderly population and its between area variance was also notable.
The purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for operating variable speed limit (VSL) strategies in freeway work zones. A notable feature in this study is to incorporate a multi-criteria decision making process into deriving better VSL strategies. Decision criteria in this study include operational efficiency, safety, and environmental impacts. Travel speed, acceleration noise, and CO2 were used as performance measures for evaluating VSL strategies. A multi-criteria value function was developed through an analytical hierarchical process (AHP) for representing expert's knowledge. Then, a variety of VSL operations scenarios were investigated utilizing a microscopic traffic simulation suite, VISSIM. The proposed methodology would be useful in supporting more efficient, safer, and more environment-friendly traffic operations and control in freeway work zones.
This study, targeting a cancer patient undergoing radiation treatment, conducted this research with the aim of looking into the relevance between family support belonging to a patient's primary environment, social support consisting of medical personnel, and the quality of life; this study set 199 patients available for investigation from Jan. 25, 2012 until April 30, 2012 as research subjects among the cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment at the Radiation Oncology Department of a university hospital located in Seoul Metropolitan City. In the analysis of collected data, this study conducted t-test using SPSS/WIN 18.0 Statistical Program, and looked into the relevancy between independent variables including social support, and the quality of life as a dependent variable using analysis of variance, correlation analysis and multi-regression analysis. Conclusively, it was found that the higher the family support perceived by a cancer patient undergoing radiation treatment, the higher the quality of his/her life; thus, this study could learn that there exists a significant relation between family support and the quality of life. Accordingly, it is thought that it's necessary to develop an intervention strategy which makes it possible to intensify family support and social support, etc. for the purpose of improving the quality of life of cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment; further, this study thinks that it's necessary to do additional research which could analyze diverse aspects by subdividing the future quality of life by area.
