The irrigation interval and time for the supply of nutrient and water to the plant is important in the aeroponic system. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of irrigation interval on the growth of Phalaenopsis hybrid seedlings in the aeroponic system. Young bare-root plants (four leaves, 16 g in fresh weight) were used for this experiment. The composition of nutrient solution was, in $me{\cdot}L^{-1}$, 9 N, 3 P, 4 K, 4 Ca and 2 Mg. The electrical conductivity (EC) and pH of nutrient solution used was $1.2\;dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$ and 5.8, respectively. Irrigation intervals were 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 minute and each irrigation time was 10 minute. The total fresh and dry weight, the number of branched roots, and relative growth rate at the 20 and 30 min. was greater than 10, 40, 50 min. interval. Especially, the fresh weight of roots at 30 min. interval was the highest. Leaf length was the highest at 30 min. interval but there was no difference in leaf width. The amount of water consumed for a month was 0.71 L per plant and it was reduced with increasing irrigation interval. There was no difference in the amount of consumed mineral contents for 15 days except for potassium. Potassium absorbed was the highest at 30 min. irrigation interval. As a result, the optimum irrigation interval was 30 min for the production of Phalaenopsis hybrid seedlings in the aeroponic system.
This experiment was carried oui to determine the relativeness between growth, yield characters and bio-informations as influenced by the spray and rest time intervals of nutrient solution. Tomato(Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) were grown in aeroponic system on a misting schedule of continuously 60 sec, 30 sec and 10 sec at 10 min intervals with full strength Yamazaki's solution recommended for tomato production. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Leaf area was highest in the plot of 30 sec spray and 10 min rest while the forest one was the plot of 60 sec spray and 10 min rest. Growth characteristics in terms of dry weight of each organ, number of flower, number of flower setted and fruit dry weight were greater in the plot of 30 sec spray and 10 min rest than the other treatments. 2. The number of flower increased with decreasing dry weight but number of flower sorted was not significantly different among treatment except for the plot of 60 sec spray and 10 min rest. 3. Leaf dry weight and fruit dry weight were highly correlated so that 30 sec spray and 10 min rest plot which is the highest fruit dry weight showed the largest leaf area. Continuously sprayed plot reduced markedly the fruit dry weight compared with leaf area. Optimum spray and rest time of nutrient solution in the range of this experiment was determined as 30 sec spray and 10 min rest. 4. Solar radiation within glasshouse during daytime reduced severely compared with outdoor one and air temperature within greenhouse was higher than the leaf temperature of tomato plant. The changes of environmental factors, solar radiation, temperature were accompanied with the sensitive change of bio-informations of tomato leaf Especially differences of spray intervals of nutrient solution affected greatly to the changes of bio-informations : leaf water potential, stomatal resistance and leaf temperature etc. 5. The changing patterns of leaf growth as influenced by the spray and rest intervals of nutrient solution were closely related to the leaf water potential, stomatal resistance and leaf temperature. Feasibility was demonstrated that measurement of bio-information of tomato leaf as influenced by the change of environmental factors could be expected to the amount of growth and fruit yield.
This experiment was carried out to investigate the possibility of practical use of intermittent soaking system(ISS) in hydroponicaly growing tomato. There were four treatments which were NFT, Aeroponics, and ISS with 10 and 15 minute soaking intervals. 1. Plant height is highest in NFT, but main root length is longest in ISS. While stem diameter and leaf number were not significantly difference. 2. Fresh and dry weight were heavier in NFT than those of other systems at early growth stage, but the heavier in ISS system, the growth more develop. 3. In 43 days after treatment, the number of flowerlet was largest in aeroponics, and then ISS and NFT in order. Fruit weight per plant was also heaviest in aeroponics. 4. Average yield per plant were 1929.1g in aeroponics, 1475.2g in ISS with 10 minute soaking interval, 1276.2g in NFT and 1084.8g in ISS with 15 minute soaking interval. 5. Average fruit number per plant were 11.0 in aeroponics, 9.7 in NFT, 8.3 in ISS with 15 minute soaking interval, and 7.7 in ISS with 10 minute soaking interval. Average fruit weight were 192.9g in aeroponics, 172.4g in ISS with 10 minute soaking interval, 134.0g in NFT and 126.0g in ISS with 15 minute soaking interval. 6. Average fruit length was longer in aeroponics and ISS with 10 minute soaking interval than in the NFT and ISS with 15 minute soaking interval. Average fruit width was similarly wider in NFT, aeroponics and ISS with 10 minute soaking interval than in ISS with 15 minute soaking interval.
The proper nozzle spacings have been tried to determined the better evenness of distribution on the development of the boom type nozzle system with three nozzles made in Korea-disk type, cap type and bolt type. The operating pressure has been changed in 7 levels ($2kg/cm^2-8kg/cm^2$) and the operating height in 3 levels (30, 40, 50cm) to find characteristics of deposit pattern and the proper spacing of each nozzle was examined and computed. The results of this study were as follows; 1. The CU(%) of the deposit distribution was improved with the operating pressure of $5kg/cm^2$ or $6kg/cm^2$ in Nozzle A with 80% and Nozzle C with 83%, and $7kg/cm^2$in Nozzle B with 80% 2. The better deposit distribution was got ten at operating height 40cm with CU 86% in Nozzle A, and 50cm in both Nozzle B, C with 80% 3. The spray deposit distribution was getting of improvement with decrease of nozzle spacing, nevertheless about half diameter of the spraying circle was recommended in regard to the cost and the work performance. 4. Improvement of quality of nozzles tested in this research may be required not to be less than their CU 90% in the use as boom-type nozzle system.
When we construct a road near an apartment complex, we consider a soundproof wall. To make residential places quieter, we may consider a soundproof road tunnel. Such a tunnel, however, would become highly concentrated with soot from vehicles whenever a traffic jam might occur. To create an optimum design, this study utilizes the PHOENICS-VR software. The work considers three cases: (1) no openings (2) openings at 30m intervals, and (3) openings at 60m intervals on the upper side of the tunnel. The study finds that in the second case shows CO concentration distributions were 15% less than those without openings. And the CO concentration distributions of the second and third cases are almost the same. The findings suggest that we should make the soundproof tunnel to reduce construction fees.

A study on the measurement of critical heat flux using the transient inverse heat conduction method in spray cooling was performed. The inverse heat conduction method estimates the surface heat flux or temperature using a measured interior temperature history. The effects of the measuring time interval and location of temperature measurement on the measurement of critical heat flux were primarily investigated. The following results were obtained. The estimated critical heat flux decreased as the time interval of temperature measurement increased. Meanwhile, the effect of measurement location on critical heat flux was not significant. It was also found, from the experimental results, that the critical superheat increased as the measurement location of thermocouple neared the heat transfer surface.
This study was undertaken to investigation the spray characteristics of the twin fluid atomization nozzle system. The light oil was injected at the normal temperature and injection pressure was 5 bar - 10 bar by 1 bar and volume flow was 0.5, 1.0 and 2,0 mmH2O(X10-2). We measured the SMD of sprayed droplet to study spray characteristics. The following conclusions were reached from the results of these study. 1. The more injection pressure increased, the more SMD decreased. 2. The more measuring distance between pressure nozzle tip and analyser beam increased, the more SMD increased. 3. SMD of the blower-air-added injection system were shown, increasing volume flow decreased respectively. The result of this study indicated the blower-air-added injection system induced beneficial changes in SMD. And it will be considered important indicator for spray characteristics design and performance evaluation of twin fluid atomization nozzle system.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the performance of vehicle disinfector nozzles using at the livestock farm. The nozzle of vehicle disinfectors was measured spraying rate and equality distribution ratio by pressures. The spraying rate of TK-I's nozzle was 1,605 ml/min at 3 MPa, TK-II's nozzle was 2,020 ml/min, JA's nozzle was 1,150 ml/min and IS's nozzle was 795 ml/min. The number of nozzles of TK-I's, TK-II's, JA's and IS's for reasonable spraying rate($25{\ell}/min$. at 3 MPa) was respectively 16, 13, 22 and 32 units. The equality distribution ratio of TK-I's nozzle by pressures was equalized and the nozzles of TK-II's, JA's and IS's was sprayed to the center or side more then other sides in the measured boxes.

A remote controlled sprayer has designed, manufactured and experimented to spray well on pear trees with pesticides. This study was executed to automate pest management of pear trees. Types of spray nozzle, which was used on the system, were analyzed experimentally to find an optimal spray equipment configuration with several nozzles. Attributions of ultrasonic sensors were analyzed to adjust spraying distance of an unmanned sprayer system. This paper investigated shapes of pear trees and cultivating environment of pear orchard. In order to select optimal spray environment, liquid distribution was measured while angle of nozzle was changed. Additionally, liquid distribution by distance and sprayed liquid capacity by side distance were measured. According to information of shapes of pear trees and cultivating environment of pear orchard, sprayer frames of an unmanned sprayer system were manufactured and sprayer frames were suitable for interval of pear trees. The sprayer system could adjust width of sprayer frames to 2.5 m and height of sprayer frames to 1.7 m. Optimal angle of nozzle, and optimal distance between objects and nozzle were $15^{\circ}$ and 0.8 m. When side distance was placed from 1.2 m to 1.8 m, sprayed capacity reached to the highest amount.
