High Energy density metal powder has high melting point of oxide film. By this, the ignition source that can make a thermal effect of high-temperature during short time is needed to overcome ignition disturbance mechanism by oxide film. So effective ignition does not occurred with hydrocarbon ignitor, $H_2-O_2$ ignitor, high power laser. But steam plasma can be generate about 5000 K temperature field in short order. Because a steam plasma uses steam as the working gas, it is environmental-friendly and economical. Therefore in this study, we analyze steam plasma temperature field and radical species with optical emission spectroscopy method in order to apply steam plasma ignitor to metal combustion system and cloud particle ignition was identified in visual.
Carbon-encapsulated Ni and metal Ni nanoparticles were synthesized by levitational gas condensation (LGC). Methane ($CH_4$) gas was used to coat the surface of the Ni nanoparticles. The Ni particles had a core diameter of 10 nm, and were covered by 2~3 nm thin carbon layers with multi-shells structure. The low magnetization comparing with the Ni nanoparticles without carbon-shell results in the coexistence of nonmagnetic carbon and a large surface spin percentage with disordered magnetization orientation for the nanoparticles. Biginelli reactions in the presence of L-proline and Ni and carbon encapsulated Ni nanoparticles were carried out to change the ratio between stereoisomers. The obtained S-enantiomers for 3,4-dihydropyrimidine (DHPM) using catalysts of Ni, and Ni@C was an excess of about ${\Delta}{\sim}7.4%$ and ${\Delta}{\sim}19.6%$, respectively. The nanopowders were fully recovered using magnet to reuse as a catalyst. The Ni@C was shown at same yield to formation of 3,4-DHPM, though it was recycled for catalyst in the reaction.
Al-Fe alloy layers on heated steel sheet were made by Al powder spray for 30 minutes at $700^{\circ}C$, $800^{\circ}C$ and $1000^{\circ}C$, respectively. As a results, for alloy layers formed at $700^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$, main phases were brittle phase $FeAl_3 and Fe_2Al_5$, hardnesses were very high (Hv 700~800), corrosion resistances were good and surfaces were smooth, but wear resistances were bad. For alloy layer formed at $1000^{\circ}C$, main phase was ductile phase $Fe_3Al$, hardness was low (Hv 300~400), corrosion and wear resistances were excellent, but surface was rough. Therefore, alloy layers that formed at $700^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$ were heat treated at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes for the purpose of smooth surface and excellent wear resistance in this study. It was investigated that brittle phase $FeAl_3 and Fe_2Al_5$ of alloy layers fromed by Al powder spray at $700^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$ turn into ductile phase $Fe_3Al$ by heat treated at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes without changing smooth surface. It was concluded that the alloy layers formed by Al powder spray on heated steel sheet at $700^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes and heat treated at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes were excellent on wear and smooth surface.

Composite coating can be manufactured during the electroplating with the bath containing a suspension of particles: ceramic, polymer, nanopowders. Improvement of hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and lubrication properties are well-known advantage of composite coating. In this study, nano $TiO_2$ powder dispersed Ni composite plating was investigated. The improvement of surface hardness and photo decomposition effects can be expected in this coating. Zeta potential was measured with pH. The effect of ultrasonication time and types of ultrasonicator were studied to minimize the agglomeration of $TiO_2$ nanopowders in the electrolyte. Optimum conditions for nano $TiO_2$ dispersed Ni composite coating were $40mA/cm^2$ of current density, pH 3.5, and $50^{\circ}C$. At these conditions, $TiO_2$ nanoparticles contents in the Ni deposit was 15-20 at.%.
The microstructure, mechanical and electrochemical properties of plasma electrolytic coatings (PEO) coatings on Mg-4.3 wt%Zn-1.0 wt%Y and Mg-1.0 wt%Zn-2.0 wt%Y alloys prepared by gas atomization, followed by compaction at 320 for 10 min under the pressure of 700 MPa and sintering at 380 and 420 respectively for 24 h, were investigated, which was compared with the cast Mg-1.0 wt%Zn alloy. All coatings consisting of MgO and $Mg_2SiO_4$ oxides showed porous and coarse surface features with some volcano top-like pores distributed disorderly and cracks between pores. In particular, the surface of coatings on Mg-1.0 wt%Zn-2.0 wt%Y alloy showed smaller area of pores and cracks compared to the Mg-4.3 wt%Zn-1.0 wt%Y and Mg-1.0 wt%Zn alloys. The cross section micro-hardness of coatings on the gas atomized Mg-Zn-Y alloys was higher than that on the cast Mg-1.0 wt%Zn alloy. Additionally, the coated Mg-1.0 wt%Zn-2.0 wt%Y alloy exhibited the best corrosion resistance in 3.5%NaCl solution. It could be concluded that the addition of Y has a beneficial effect on the formation of protective and hard coatings on Mg alloys by plasma electrolytic oxidation treatment.
Adsorption of glycine on$Si_3N_4$powder surface has been investigated, which is supposed to enhance the formation of passive layer inhibiting oxidation in aqueous solution. In the basic solution, multinuclear surface complexing between Si and dissociated ligands was responsible for the saturated adsorption of glycine. In addition, $CeO_2$-based CMP slurry containing glycine was manufactured and then applied to planarize$SiO_2$and$Si_3N_4$thin film. Owing to the passivation by glycine, the removal rates, Rh, were decreased, however, the selectivities, RE(SiO$_2$)/RR($Si_3N_4$), increased and showed maximum at pH=12. The suppressed oxidation and dissolution by adsorbate were correlated with the dissociation behavior of glycine at different pH and subsequent chemical adsorption.
Titanium was oxidized with oxygen plasma and calcinated with rapid thermal annealing for degradation of humic acid dissolved in water. Titania photocatalytic plate was produced by titanium surface oxidized with oxygen plasma by Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD). RF-power and deposition condition is controlled under 100 W, 150 W, 300 W and 500 W. Treatment time was controlled by 5 min and 10 min. The film properties were evaluated by the X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). From the experimental results, we found the optimal condition of titania film which exhibited good performance. Moreover photocatalytic capacity was about twice better than thermal spray titania film, and also as good as titania powder.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial effect on Enterococcus Faecalis and physical properties of chitosan added calcium hydroxide canal filling material. Low, medium, high molecular weights of chitosan powder were mixed with calcium hydroxide canal filling material. Also, for each molecular weight group, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0 wt% of chitosan powder were added. An overnight culture of E. faecalis was adjusted to 1 × 106 CFU/ml. For test of antibacterial effect, three different molecular weights of 2.0 wt% chitosan and three different concentrations of high molecular weight chitosan were mixed with calcium hydroxide canal filling material. The absorbance of plates was analyzed using spectrophotometer at 570 nm with a reference wavelength of 600 nm. Physical properties such as flow, film thickness and radiopacity were examined according to ISO 6876 : 2012. All molecular weight type of chitosan containing material showed inhibitory effect against E. faecalis growth compared to non-chitosan added calcium hydroxide canal filling material group (p < 0.05). High molecular weight chitosan containing material showed the most antibacterial effect. Also, the antibacterial effect decreased as the incorporated amount of chitosan decreased (p < 0.05). Every molecular weight group of material containing chitosan had a tendency for reduced flow and radiopacity, increased film thickness according to amount of chitosan. Low molecular weight of 1.0 wt% chitosan addition did not show any significant difference of physical properties compared to conventional calcium hydroxide canal filling material. In conclusion, for reinforcement of antibacterial effect against E. faecalis and for favorable physical properties, 2.0 wt% of chitosan adding is recommended. Considering its antibacterial effect of chitosan, further studies are required for clinical application of chitosan in endodontics and pediatric dentistry.

Aluminum hydrates were synthesized using $AlCl_3$.$6H_2O$as starting material by precipitation method. The phases of obtained powder were amorphous, boehmite, bayerite, nordstrandite depending on the pH of solutions. Aluminum hydrates transformed to $\alpha-Al_2O_3$via $\gamma$- $Al_2O_3$,$\delta$- $Al_2O_3$,and $\theta$-$Al_2O_3$,and particle sizes were grown by increment of heating temperature. The TEX>$\gamma$- $Al_2O_3$ powder was coated on intermediate layer of ceramic membrane by the dip-coating method, and unsupported membrane was also prepared for comparison. The supported layer showed porous structure with small grains, but the unsupported layer revealed interconnected larger grains. Grain growth is dominant in the unsupported layer than in the supported one.
