Boundary Element Analysis of Singular Residual Thermal Stresses in A Fiber-Reinforced Unifirectional Viscoelastic Laminate (섬유가 보강된 단일방향 점탄성 복합재료에 발생하는 특이 잔류 열응력의 경계요소해석)

  • This paper concerns the singular thermal stresses at the interface corner between the elastic fiber and the viscoelastic matrix of a two-dimensional unidirectional laminate model induced during cooling from cure temperature down to room temperature. Time-domain boundary element method is employed to investigate the nature of residual thermal stresses at the interface. Numerical results show that very large stress gradients are present at the interface corner and such stress singularity might lead to local yielding or fiber-matrix debonding.

  • 중국 Three Gorges Project의 대수로사면 안정성은 설계와 시공측면에 있어 주요 관심사가 되었다. 사면 굴착으로 인한 제하과정에서 암반은 역학적으로 불안정한 상태에 놓인다. 본 논문은 FEM(2D-3D)를 이용하여 단층 암반 굴착으로 인한 암반사면의 안정성을 평가하였다. 해석결과 굴착 후 수로사면의 양측 수직벽과 분리울타리의 중간 상부에서 인장응력과 전단손상영역이 주로 발생하였다. 해석결과를 토대로 대규모 사면활동에 대한 안정성을 확인하였으나 시공단계에서 국부적 사면활동을 방지하기 위한 록볼트와 록앵커 등의 보강이 필요한 것으로 검토되었다.

  • Structural optimization often requires the evaluation of design sensitivities. The Semi Analytic Method(SAM) fur computing sensitivity is popular in shape optimization because this method has several advantages. But when relatively large rigid body motions are identified for individual elements. the SAM shows severe inaccuracy. In this study, the improvement of design sensitivities corresponding to the rigid body mode is evaluated by exact differentiation of the rigid body modes. Moreover. the error of the SAM caused by numerical difference scheme is alleviated by using a series approximation for the sensitivity derivatives and considering the higher order terms. Finally the present study shows that the refined SAM including the iterative method improves the results of sensitivity analysis in dynamic problems.

  • In this study, designs of protection fences such as the concrete median barrier and the guardrail were performed. The foreign standard of concrete median barrier was introduced and implemented without modification fitting to domestic vehicles and highway conditions. In a car accident, median barrier doesn't protect vehicles effectively, especially for heavy vehicles such as bus and heavy truck. Guardrail doesn't protect vehicle effectively, either. The purpose of this study is to develop the optimal performance design of concrete median barrier and design of guardrail using the design of experiment as well as crashworthiness analysis which is done by Pam-Crash. As a result of this study, an optimal design of concrete median barrier was obtained considering von Mises stress, volume and COG acceleration of truck. And design of guardrail satisfying the domestic requirements was obtained.

Analysis of Antibodies Against Lyme Disease Agent, Borrelia burgdorferi, in Sera from Patients with Unknown Fever (열성질환 환자에서 라임병균 Borrelia burgdorferi 감염증 진단을 위한 혈청학적인 분석)

  • Currently, the laboratory diagnosis for lyme disease have been performed with the detection of antibodies against Borrelia burgdorferi. However there might be some difficulties in the interpretation of obtained results due to the usage of foreign isolates as an antigen in the test. Therefore the optimization of serological tests with Korean isolates of B. burgdorferi as an antigen would be needed to establish the standardized diagnostic method for the detection of antibodies against B. burgdorferi infection. In this study, the optimization of ELISA was investigated with experimentally challenged rabbit sera and sonicated B. burgdorferi antigens of Korean isolates. Of 217 human patient's sera with unknown fever, the mean seropositivities in ELISA, done under the optimized conditions obtained in this study, were found to be about 8% against B. burgdorferi sensu late, showing the highest seropositivity of 14.3% against B. afzelii. In immunoblotting assay with ELISA-positive human sera, the major reactive bands were 41kDa (flagellin) which might be the indication of early infection, and 27kDa, 31kDa (OspA), 34kDa (OspB) which are the characteristics of late infection. Obtained results in this study might strongly indicate the possibility of B. burgdorferi infections in Korea.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for removing noise components in the feature extraction process for robust speech recognition. This method is based on blind separation using independent component analysis (ICA). Given two noisy speech recordings the algorithm linearly separates speech from the unwanted noise signal. To apply ICA as closely as possible to the feature level for recognition, a new spectral analysis is presented. It modifies the computation of band energies by previously averaging out fast Fourier transform (FFT) points in several divided ranges within one met-scaled band. The simple analysis using sample variances of band energies of speech and noise, and recognition experiments showed its noise robustness. For noisy speech signals recorded in real environments, the proposed method which applies ICA to the new spectral analysis improved the recognition performances to a considerable extent, and was particularly effective for low signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). This method gives some insights into applying ICA to feature levels and appears useful for robust speech recognition.

Cancellation of MRI Motion Articact in Image Plane (촬상단면에 있어서 MRI 체동 아티팩트의 제거)

  • MRI 촬상내의 체동에 의해 화상위에 나타나는 아티팩트를 제거하는 알고리즘에 관해서 기술한다. 종래의 반복적인 위상탐색법에 의한 제거법과는 달리, 위상 엔코딩 방향인 Y 방향의 체동에 대하여 MRI의 원리에 근거해서 체동과 화상의 위상공간에서의 대응관계를 해석해서 체동성분을 추출함으로써 아티팩트를 제거하는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안한다. 인체의 단층상에 있어서 피하지방 부위를 통과하는 Y방향의 한 라인상의 밀도분포는 대칭성을 갖고 있어 밀도분포위상의 선형성을 체동과 화상성분을 분리하기 위한 구속조건으로 사용한다. MRI 신호에 대해서 X 방향의 1차원 푸리에 변환을 행한 후의 Y 방향의 스펙트럼 위상값은 화상자신의 성분과 체동성분의 합이 되고 있다. Y 방향의 한 라인에 따른 밀도분포가 대칭인 경우에는 화상의 위상성분이 그 위치에 대해서 선형함수가 되고 있다. 이러한 구속조건에 근거한 아티팩트의 제거방법을 정식화하며, 시뮬레이션에 의해 본 방법의 유효성을 확인한다. 아울러, 체동 변동이 약간 큰 경우 및 Y 접선 영역의 대칭성이 무너진 경우에 대해서도 검토를 행한다.

The Boltzmann equation simplified by a collision model is solved by means of a finite difference approximation with the discrete ordinate method. Calculations are made for a flow in a micro-channel between an inclined slider and a moving disk drive platter The results are compared well with those from the DSMC method. The present method does not suffer from statistical noise which is common in particle-based methods and requires much less computational effort.

Calculations are made for a flow in a micro-channel between an inclined slider and a moving disk drive platter. The results are compared well with those from the DSMC method. The present method does not suffer from statistical noise which is common in particle based methods and requires much less computational effort.
