최근 MEMS(microelectromechanical system) 기술을 이용한 바이오센서에 대한 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다.
A nylon wire holding and release mechanism (HRM) has been widely used for deployable applications of CubeSat owing to its simplicity and low cost. In general, structural safety of solar panel with an HRM has been designed by performing structural analysis under a launch environment. However, previous studies have not performed thermal analysis for HRM in an on-orbit environment. In this study, Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) thermal analysis was performed to evaluate thermal stability of the mechanism in the orbital thermal environment of the pogo pin-based HRM applied to CubeSat. In addition, the effectiveness of the thermal design and performance of the pogo pin-based HRM were verified through a thermal vacuum test.

The separation actuator for the small satellite should fix satellite appendages with high clamping force. After operation, it has to be separated from the satellite body without any damage on satellite system and release the appendages such as a solar panel and an antenna successfully. Therefore, we invent a non-explosive separation actuator for the small satellite which generates low shock and is resettable. In order to confirm performance of the proposed separation actuator, we carried out experiments for separation time, maximum preload for activation, and shock level.

This paper describes development of a non-explosive separation device which can be equipped on small satellites. The spur geared micro DC motor, which has high reliability and advantage of price, is adopted as an actuator. The proposed separation device has resettability and it does not need extra jig to reload. In addition, the simple structure makes it easy to fabricate and assemble. To verify the performance of the proposed device, the response time tests, maximum preload tests and maximum shock level tests were performed. Also, through the vibration tests and thermal vacuum tests, feasibility of the proposed separation device was shown in launching and space environments. Therefore, we expect that the proposed separation device can replace the imported separation devices in near future.

Successful separation of satellites from launch vehicles and release its appendages such as solar arrays and antennas are one of the most important tasks for mission accomplishment during in-orbit maneuver. Especially, specific release devices called NEA(Non-Explosive Actuator) have been widely adopted to perform safe separation and release due to its outstanding performance of low functional shock (below 500g), no contamination and easy handing as opposed to the pyroshock device. In the paper, various kinds of NEA and its history of development are reviewed along with a summary on the domestic research trend.

Separation Devices have two functions. These two functions are to bond and to separate two bodies. This paper is about separation devices which use explosives to separate their bodies. Explosive bolt is separated with two bodies when the explosives in the body detonated. The good things of explosive bolt are that it has simple operational system and it is made of few parts. But it has side effects; fragment and pyre-shock. To avoid these side effects gas expansion separation(GES) bolt and pressure cartridge actuation separation(PAS) devices are invented. These use pressure to separate their bodies. The pressure is generated when explosives are burned. But the sizes of PAS devices are bigger than explosive bolts. And GES bolt has a mechanically lower bonding ability than that of explosive bolt. When you design separation devices, it is recommended to know operational system and characteristics of separation devices, to design best one.

The non-explosive release device using jack mechanism is designed and fabricated for the small satellite. As a triggering actuator for the release device, a piezo rotory motor with torque of more than $1.7kgf{\cdot}cm$ is employed to guarantee stable activation. For performance tests of separation device, we conducted release time test, preload test and shock test. The device was operated within 1.172sec and activated stably under load of 45kgf. Maximum shock was measured as 18G that is much less than the pyro-separation device produces. We confirmed the possibility as a satellite separation device through above presented tests.

When many space launchers and rockets need to be separated, the pyrotechnic separators have been widely used because of their high reliability and high energy generation. However, intensive pyroshock and debris from the high-explosive type separator may cause fatal damage to the equipment inside of the space launchers or rockets. To solve this problem, a pressure-cartridge type low-impact separator has been developed. In this study, one of the low-impact separators, the split-type pyrolock, was used. We established a mathematical model for the split-type pyrolock that simulates the state of combustion gas and the separation behavior of four independent internal components and verified the mathematical model through comparing with experiment results.

In this study, we proposed a nylon wire cutting-type solar panel separation mechanism for CubeSat applications using spring-loaded pogo-pins, which has been widely used as temporary electrical interface between two separate electronics. The mechanism proposed in this study has great advantages of higher holding capability, ability to constrain along in-plane and out-of-plane directions of solar panels, simplicity in tightening of nylon wire and synchronous separation of multiple panels. In addition, the pogo-pins used for the proposed mechanism act as electrical power interface, separation status switch and separation spring. In this study, the functionality of the proposed mechanism was validated through the separation tests with various number of nylon wire windings.
