Design of VHF-Band Wideband 4-Way 90° Power Divider (VHF 대역용 광대역 4분기 90° 전력분배기 설계)

  • This paper described the design and fabrication of broadband 4-way $90^{\circ}$ power divider which has a $90^{\circ}$ phase difference between output ports in 20${\sim}$100 MHz VHF-band. A 4-way $90^{\circ}$ power divider was designed using 4-way in-phase power divider which consisted of three 2-way in-phase power dividers and two second-order all pass filters which gives $90^{\circ}$ phase difference between output ports. The measured insertion loss was less then 6.6 dB, return loss and isolation were better than 19 dB, and phase error between $90^{\circ}$ phase difference outputs was less than ${\pm}$1$^{\circ}$.

  • 광 집적회로를 설계하는데 있어서 Y-형 분배기는 광에너지를 분배 혹은 결합시키는 중요한 역할을 한다. 그러나 이 소자는 분기 부분에서의 큰 손실과 공정상에서의 두 분기사이를 식각하는 것은 쉽지 않다는 단점을 갖고 있다. Y-형 분배기와 더불어 광신호의 분리와 결합에 있어서 널리 사용되는 MMI 분배기 소자는효율적인 분배 기능을 유도하기 위해서 MMI 내에 모드수가 많아져야 하는데, 이런 방식의 모드 수의 증가를 유도하기에는 MMI-길이와 폭에 제한을 받게 된다. (중략)

  • EMS-type Maglev vehicle maintains constant levitation air-gap between electromagnet and guideway by using gap sensor. The other words, when Maglev vehicles levitating over the guideway, mass of the vehicle effects through 1st (electromagnetic air-gap control) and 2nd (air-spring) suspension to grider. Resonace between electromagnetic suspension and grider could be occurred, which causes instability and poor ridecomfort. This paper is to test the dymanic interaction between levitation air-gap and switching system grider that has less mass and high natural frequencies than other type of general girders.

  • Most of design parameters of Railway Structures are determined by the serviceability requirements, rather than the structural safety requirements. The serviceability requirements come from Ensuring of running safety and ride comfort of train, reduction of track maintenance working Track-Bridge interaction should be considered in the design of railway structures. In this study, a numerical method which precisely evaluate an axial force of rail and a rail expansion and contraction when turnout exist in succession on a CWR of bridge is developed.

  • The turnout system is typical railway facility to be in the way of conventional railway line's speed-up. The KNR(Korean National Railroad) has a speed limit regulation (130km/h) for the passing the turnout to guarantee a safety. This research had been performed to confirm the propriety of this regulation by using experimental and analytical way before it was carried out. The reasonableness of the speed-limit regulation was judged base on the several experiments. It was proved that the regulation was not useless as it had been regarded and very important guide at least up to now.

  • A new analysis method was proposed, where the even . odd-mode theory for a symmetrical coupled-line directional coupler was applied to a transformer-type directional coupler. In addition, the tap-offs were analyzed by the proposed theory, which are widely used in CATV (Cable Television), DBS (Direct Broad- casting Satellite), CS (Communication Satellite) systems. By comparing the calculation results to the measured ones using the even . odd-mode reflection coefficients only, the validity of the proposed analysis method was confirmed. Then, the tap-off has been broadened from 5 MHz over 4,000 MHz by adopting the proposed theory.

  • The major objective of this study is to investigate the fatigue damage factor evaluation of immovability crossing for railway turnout by the field test and qualitative analysis. From the field test results of the servicing turnout crossing and qualitative analysis with frictional wear which section stiffness decreased, it was evaluated fatigue life of servicing turnout crossing. Most design practices have not taken advantage of the advanced theories in the modern fracture mechanics and finite element analysis due to complexity of analysis as well as the large quantity of vaguely defined parameters in actual designs. This paper considers fatigue problems in turnout crossing using effective analytical and design tools from the field of qualitative constraint reasoning. A set of software modules was developed for fatigue analysis and evaluation, which is easily applicable in engineering practices of designers. The techniques enable the use complex analysis formulations to tackle practical problems with uncertainties, and present the design outcome in two-dimensional design space solution. Appropriate engineering assumptions and judgments in carrying out these procedures, often the most difficult part for practicing engineers, can be partially produced by using qualitative reasoning to define the trends and ranges, interval constraint analysis to derive the controlling parameters, as well as design space to account for practical experience.
