This research was carried out from March 2009 to July 2012 to explicate the height change based breeding-ecological characteristics of Titmice that were breeding in the artificial nests installed in the Halla Mountain. The first egg-laying day was delayed as the height of the area under investigation increased, and it turned out that the decrease in temperature due to the elevated height had influence on that delay (p<0.05). Generalizing the annual results of the analyses, we see that there was no significant correlation occurring between the average temperatures and egg-laying days in the breeding season (April~June) (p>0.05). The rate of artificial nest use was not different among areas and among year, but between the species, Parus major and Parus varius. There were differences in clutch sizes among species (p>0.05), but no differences in heights and years (p<0.05). The hatching-, fledging-, and breeding-success rates were 67.3%, 99.5%, and 67.0% respectively in 2011, and 71.3%, 96.8%, 69.0% respectively in 2012, from which we can tell that the fledging-success rate was high but the hatching- and breeding-success rates were similar. Though we confirm that temperature changes due to height differences had influence on breeding periods, but we cannot identify a significant correlation with other breeding-ecological characteristics. Thus, in order to more precisely explicate the influence of temperature changes due to heights on Titmice's breeding, long-term research is needed in terms of the investigation of microclimatic factors and food resource.
This study is mainly focused on the mating of 9 couples of Eagle Owl Bubo bubo habitating in Paju, Ganghwa Island, Icheon, Sihwa Lake, Chungju. For this study, from 2005 to 2007, regular filming and mornitoring for the breeding ecology and copulation behavior of 9 couples of Eagle Owl in the nest and near area had been done. Clutches ranged in size from one to four eggs but averaged 2.27 eggs(n=15), hatching success rate was 71 %(n=34) and fledgling success rate was 83%(n=23). Through the filming and mornitoring, it was found that Eagle Owl continued to copulate each other even after hatching and kept its copulation until the chicks left their nest($7\sim8$ weeks after hatching). This copulation behaviour without fertilization seems to be done for confirming, maintaining and strengthening of pair-bond by the necessity of both male and female, and to aim at stable breeding of their chicks.
The experiments were conducted to improve the mass production of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, seed in closed recirculation systems. It was observed that smaller females (340g av. body weight) under lower stocking density (1.2 kg/$m^2$)) group produced 3.6 times more fry than larger females (612g av. body weight) under higher stocking density (2.1kg/$m^2$) group when the fry were collected at 30 days after the broods stocked. The clutch removal method where the eggs and sacfry were collected from female mouth followed by artificial incubation showed improved seed production, when compared to the traditional natural mouth-brooding method by harvesting free swimming fry from brood tanks (P<0.05). Under the clutch removal method, short-term incubatin of brooders (14 days) was proven to be more effective than long-term incubatin (21 days). Hatching success of clutch removed eggs was ranged from 55.7 to 91.5% in 1.8$\ell$ of upwelling incubators depending on the different development stages.
The hatching rate of the eggs of Triops longicaudatus (LeConte), an endangered tadpole shrimp species in Korea, was experimented in different levels of temperature (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and $50^{\circ}C$) under 24 L photoperiod conditions in incubator. Eggs of T. longicaudatus in this study were obtained from the adults collected from Andong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea, in July 2006. The highest hatching rate was the 80.0 (${\pm}9.43$)% in average at $35^{\circ}C$. The thermal threshold for hatching was derived at $6.66^{\circ}C$. However, eggs were not hatched both at $10^{\circ}C$ and at $50^{\circ}C$ during the experimental period.
Studies were conducted to determine the effects of water temperature on the number of spawning, egg production, spawning intervals and hatching success of Chinese bleak, Aphyocypris chinensis. Adult fish were exposed to water temperatures of 19, 22, 25 and $28{\circ}^C$ for two months in the laboratory. The spawning number, egg productivity, and hatching rate increased as water temperature increased between $19{\circ}^C$ and $25{\circ}^C$. Maximum egg production and hatching rate occurred at $25{\circ}^C$, whereas the spawning intervals decreased as water temperature increased except for the treatment of $28{\circ}^C$. The shortest spawning interval observed at $25{\circ}^C$.
Development and growth of Acartia steueri from Ilkwang Bay, southeastern coast of Korea, were determined under various temperatures and food condition (Isochrysis galbana and Dunaliella salina) in the laboratory. Relationship between egg hatching time ($D_E$, day) and temperature (T, $^{\circ}C$) was $D_E=744(T+3.5)^{-1.97}$. Mean hatching success was $88.4\%$ in temperature range of $8.4\~26.2^{\circ}C$. This suggests that A. steueri may be adapted to the temperature ranges in temperate regions. Post-embryonic development pattern was equiproportional rather than isochronal, with longer stage duration of copepodites than that of the nauplii. Stage duration of NI was the shortest of all developmental stages, while the duration of NII was the longest in duration of the other nauplii. Male was morphologically distinguished from female in CIV stage, and male was developed faster than female. Median development time at a given temperature was calculated from the Belehradek equation by proper multiplication of proportional constant for embryonic development. Body carbon weight at $19.1^{\circ}C$ was increased exponentially with time. Mean specific growth rate of nauplii (0.200 $d^{-1}$), except for NI stage, was not significantly different from that of copepodites (0.190 $d^{-1}$), with the lowest rate in NVI stage (0.107 $d^{-1}$), probably due to energy consumption for metamorphosis rather than somatic growth. The results suggest that although the development pattern determined in this study was not identical with Uye's result for A. steueri (e.g. Uye, 1980b), median development time may be applicable to calculate the stage duration of A. steueri in this study area.

The influence of temperature on the rate of egg production and embryonic development of Microcotyle sebastis was investigated to determine the precise time of a second treatment. The survival time of the adults of M. sebastis was inversely proportional to temperature. The number of laid eggs per each replicate during the first 24 h was $39.3{\pm}4.0$ at $10^{\circ}C$, $62.7{\pm}14.2$ at $15^{\circ}C$, $101.0{\pm}5.6$ at $20^{\circ}C$ and $89.0{\pm}11.0$ at $25^{\circ}C$. The time required for egg hatching of M. sebastis was $31.30{\pm}4.88$, $17.52{\pm}3.24$, $11.59{\pm}3.02$ and $10.76{\pm}3.10$ days at 10, 15, 20 and $25^{\circ}C$, respectively. The regression models of the time required for the beginning and 50% point of hatching according to the different temperatures were as follows; Beginning of hatch: D=58.2000-$4.2067{\times}Temp+0.0867{\times}(Temp)^2$ ($P\leq0.01$), 50% of hatch: D=91.3833-$7.5767{\times}Temp+0.1767{\times}(Temp)^2$ ($P\leq0.01$).
This study was conducted to determine the characteristics in breeding of the little tern Sterna albifrons in Shinja-do and Doyo-Deung in Nakdong estuary. The data was obtained in the middle and late 1990's and in the mid 2000's, which were analysed for the breeding information of the little tern. In Shinja-Do, a total of 638 nests were observed in 1995, and the average numbers of eggs laid per nest were 2.48. In 2004 and 2005, 94 and 456 nests were observed, and the average number of eggs laid per nest was 2.16 and 2.53, respectively. There was a significant difference between the average numbers of eggs laid per nest for the 3 respective years. In Doyo-Deung, a total of 269 nests were observed in 1998, and the average number of eggs laid per nest was 2.16. In 2004 and 2005, 1,023 and 1,123 nests were observed, and the average numbers of eggs laid per nest were 2.33 and 2.52, respectively. There was a significant difference (p<0.001) between the average number of eggs laid per nest as well. Hatching success rate by nesting site in Shinja-Do was calculated in 1995. Type A nest (nest located on dry sand land) showed a 56.8% success rate, and type B nest (nest located on the land with dwarf grass), type C nest (nest located on moist land) and type D nest (nest located on the land with shells) showed 55.3%, 36.6% and 59.3% success rates, respectively. The average hatching success rate in Shinja-Do was 54.5%. The most crucial factor for hatching failure was flood, especially, for the type C nests. The hatching success rate by the nesting site in Doyo-Deung showed an average of 73.2%. It was high in type D nest (83.8%) and type A nest (75.9%), and low in type C nest (59.7%). Again, the most crucial factor for hatching failure was flood, especially, for the type C nests. Nakdong estuary has been through many changes over time, particularly in recent. Therefore, continuous efforts to keep it a breeding place for the little tern are urgently required, including overall management of land, protection of reef and sand, etc.
This study was conducted to identify nesting habits and breeding biology of barn swallow in Gwangju, Korea, for the breeding season 2012 to 2014. All nests were attached to vertical walls and roofs of buildings and situated at mean height $2.9{\pm}0.3m$ above ground with nest diameter $18.2{\pm}3.2cm$, nest depth $9.8{\pm}3.1cm$, nest cup diameter $11.2{\pm}1.5cm$ and nest cup depth $3.27{\pm}0.80cm$. Nests were attached to cemented walls (44.9%), wooden materials (23.1%), bricks (21.8%) and lighting (6.4%). The average clutch size was 4.5 and ranged 2~5. Mean egg length was $18.23{\pm}0.73mm$, breadth $13.11{\pm}0.25mm$, volume $1.60{\pm}0.11cm^3$, shape index $1.39{\pm}0.05$ and weight $1.69{\pm}0.15g$. Hatching and fledgling success rate were 89.1% and 84.5%. Main causes for reproductive failures were unhatched eggs, predation, nest destruction and desertion. These results are expected to be widely used as data for habitat preservation and species management of barn swallows.

We studied the development of the endangered gold-spotted pond frog, Pelophylax chosenicus eggs and analyzed growth and survival rate of the tadpoles while feeding different feed to obtain the basic data on the its biological traits and reproduction. We observed the fertilized eggs of gold-spotted pond frog that naturally spawned in a breeding tank using a microscope. Fertilized eggs were sphere shape surrounded by colloid layers, clearly distinct with animal and plant poles. The fertilized eggs hatched 31 hours after fertilization and operculum complete at 175 hours after fertilization at water temperature of 27.0±1.0℃. As a result of growth and survival rate by different feed from 35 days after mouth open stage, vegetable feed (VF) group and tetra-min (T) group were significantly higher average weight gain rate (WG)(5843.9% and 5736.3%, respectively) and average specific growth rate (SGR) (11.67% and 11.62, respectively) compared with other groups (WG: 641.8~4625.2%, SGR: 5.72~11.01%). The vegetable (V) group showed the lowest growth rate (P<0.05). The average feed efficiency was 177.83% in the VF group, about 17 times higher than the V group. In addition, the average survival rate of the VF and T groups were the high at 97.5% and 100%, respectively, and the V group was the lowest at 32.5%. Therefore, the more efficient feeds for successful breeding is singly with VF or T.
