Strain behavior of carbon fibers during hot stretching (탄소섬유의 고온 연신 열처리에서의 변형 거동)

  • Polyacrylonitrile(PAN)-based carbon fiber tows were heat-treated by the internal resistance heating method under the certain load. To consider the strain behavior of the fiber tows during heat-treatments, 1200~$2200^{\circ}C$, strain changes of those were measured. It was observed that the larger longitudinal strain was induced under the larger stretching stress. The changes in the strain are different from the temperature regions below and above $1700^{\circ}C$. Obtained apparent activation energies under the stretching stresses of 70 and 322 MPa from time-strain curves were 67.46 and 52.27kJ$mol^{-1}$, respectively. Therefore, it was known that the larger stretching stresses effectively reduce the apparent activation energy of the fiber structure development of the fiber tows.

  • In this paper, a deadbeat controller design technique is developed for the recently introduced PFC(Power Factor Correction) circuit named as a QBSRR(Quantum Boost Series Resonant Rectifier) to achieve the fast dynamic responses of the output voltage in the presense of any load variations. And, in order to monitor the load information without employing the current sensor, the load estimation method is also derived. By using the information of the load estimation method, the proposed controller gain is automatically adjusted to have the system always keep the very fast dynamic responses. To verify these superior performances, the simulation and the experiment are carried out.

  • This paper describes design of a programmable frequency synthesizer for RF PLL with $0.18{\mu}m$ silicon CMOS technology being used as an application of the UWB system like MBOA. To get good performance of speed and noise super dynamic circuits was used, and to get programmable division ratio switching circuits was used. Especially to solve narrow bandwidth problem of the dynamic circuits load resistance value of unit divider block was varied. Simulation results of the designed circuit shows very fast and wide operation characteristics as 1~14GHz frequency range.

  • The assignment of boundary conditions for the piston thermal loading analysis in internal combustion engine has been tested using the thermal circuit method with an engine simulation program. In an attempt to examine the accuracy of the employed boundary condition, another thermal boundary condition has been sought for through the electrolytic tank analogue method. Comparison of calculated temperature distributions obtained from these two boundary conditions with measured temperature values reveals that the electrolytic tank analogue method gives excellent agreement. However, the thermal circuit method has been found to be reasonable for practical applications, if modified partially.

  • In this paper, a new rectenna is presented for the wireless transmission of microwave power using dipole antenna (Quasi Yagi effect) and rectifier of CPS resonator structure. The dipole antenna with CPW feedline has high peak gain than a general dipole antenna. A ground plane of CPW is used to reflect a dipole as a Yagi antenna. Therefore, the new rectenna receives the RF power better than the one using general dipole. A RF-to-DC conversion efficiency of 61 % using a 1.4 $k{\Omega}$ load resistor is obtained at 5.8 GHz.

  • By using a slot-line in combination with microstrip lines, a coplanar wide-band balun is designed and fabricated. The slot-line of balun junction is compensated to be operated in C-band(4~8GHz), and therefore the results are agreement with theoritical prediction. Experimental data are given for a 3-section Chebyshev transformer-matched balun with a balanced-to-unbalanced line impedance ratio of 2 : 1. A bandwidth from 3.5GHz to 7.0GHz is obtained with V.S.W.R. of below 1.2 : 1. Maximum insertion loss is measured as 0.9dB, and the phase difference varies linearlly within 180$^{\circ}$$\pm$5$^{\circ}$.

  • In this paper, a hexagon-type piezoelectric transformer was investigated to increase the output power. The length of its side was 14mm and 17.5[mm], respectively. The piezoelectric ceramics was composed to PZT-PMN-PSN. This composition showed the characteristics which had an about 1200 of the mechanical Q-factor, 0.55 of the electromechanical coupling coefficient, 320 x 10$\^$-12/ C/N of the piezoelectric constant d$\sub$33/, 0.3% of the dissipation factor, etc. The voltage step-up ratio increased with increasing the load resistance, Rt., so it reached 80 with R$\sub$L/ of l[M$\Omega$] and was proportion to the length of side of the hexagon-type piezoelectric transformer.

  • In this paper, I propose the design technology of LLC resonant converter for the xenon flashlamp that is used to the solid state laser. Through the fabrication of 1.5kW large scale LLC resonant converter, the discharge characteristics are carried out, and introduce the new control method for limiting inrush current by the abrupt load current changes. The mathematical modeling for the lamp discharge includes the internal loss and lamp parameters. I propose the optimal method for the driving conditions of xenon flashlamp from the simulation results comparing the real measurements.

  • In this paper, sixth order hannonic injected PWM for improving‘ input CWTent distortion of single switch t three phase boost converter is presented. Peliodic sixth order hmmonic ${\gamma}$oltage is inj<:ded in the control circuit t to var${\gamma}$ the duty ratio of the converter switch within one switching cycle. In the result, the input phase c currents are forced to track the input voltage and an 해most unity power factor is obtained. Expelimental r results are verified by converter operating at 400V /6kW with three phase 140V ~220V input and by C02 arc w welding machine which was nonlinear load with 3 $\phi$ 220V input.

Electrical Characteristics of 28w class-Piezoelectric Transformer for Fluorescent Lamp Ballast as a function of Load Resistance (형광등 안정기용 고출력 (28W급)압전트랜스포머의 부하저항에 따른 전기적 특성)

  • Contour vibration mode piezoelectric transformers were designed and fabricated to the square plate with size of $27.5{\times}27.5{\times}2.5(2.6,\;3.0)mm^3$ using PNW-PMN-PZT ceramics. Electrical characteristics of the piezoelectric transformer were investigated for fluorescent lamp ballast application. The electrical properties and characteristic temperature rise were measured using oscilloscope and infrared temperature sensor. A 28W fluorescent lamp was successfully driven by the fabricated transformers. After driving the lamp using Power Amplifier for 24 min, the output power, efficiency and characteristic temperature rise of PT2 piezoelectric transformer showed the appropriate values of 28.01 W, 99.43% and $11^{\circ}C$, respectively. The electronic ballast using PT2 piezoelectric transformer showed an excellent output power of 28.85 W and efficiency of 86.3%, respetively.
