A Study on the Improvement of the Motion Performance of Floating Marina Structures Considering Korea Coastal Environment (한국해양환경을 고려한 부유식 마리나 구조물의 운동성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • The aim of this study was to improve the vertical motion performance of floating marina structures and to optimize the shapes of the structures for the Korea coastal environment. The floating body is connected to a plate-shaped submerged body through a connecting line under the water that has a stiff spring that serves to reduce the heave response. This system, which has two degrees of freedom, was modelled to analyze the interaction between the floating body and the submerged body. The vertical motion of the two-body system was compared with the motion of a single body to verify that the system could perform as an optimized model.

Viscous Mean Drift Forces on a Floating Vertical Cylinder in Waves and Currents (파랑과 조류에 의한 부유식 수직 실린더 구조물에 작용하는 평균 점성 표류력)

  • In offshore floating structures, the viscous mean drift force due to drag is considered a design part that has not been considered until recently. In this paper, an analytical solution for the viscous mean drift forces on a floating vertical cylinder considering the waves and currents was obtained. The area was considered by dividing it into a splash zone above the free surface and a submerged zone below the free surface. In the case of waves, only the splash zone was considered; in the case of waves and currents, equations were obtained in both the splash zone and the submerged zone. The RAO results of previous studies were used to compare the calculated results with the drift forces acting on the fixed cylinder. Except for the case in only waves in the splash zone, the viscous mean drift force acting on the floating cylinder was larger than the drift force acting on the relatively fixed cylinder in most frequencies. In particular, the increase was greater when the currents were considered to be more important. Therefore, these results provide the inference for the viscous drift force due to drag in the design of floating offshore structures.

Frequency Domain Analysis for Hydrodynamic Responses of Floating Structure using Desingularized Indirect Boundary Integral Equation Method (비특이화 간접경계적분방정식 방법을 이용한 부유식 구조물의 유체동역학적 거동에 대한 주파수영역 해석)

  • In this paper, a Rankine source method is applied and validated to analyze the hydrodynamic response of a three-dimensional floating structure in the frequency domain. The boundary value problems for radiation and diffraction problem are solved by using a desingularized indirect boundary integral equation method (DIBIEM). The DIBIEM is simpler and faster than conventional methods based on the numerical surface integration of Green's function because the singularities of Green's function are located outside of fluid regions. In case of floating structure with complex geometry, it is difficult to desingularize the singularities of Green's function consistently. Therefore a mixed approach is carried out in this study. The mixed approach is partially desingularized except singularities of the body. Wave drift loads are calculated by the middle-field formulation method that is mathematically simple and has fast convergence. In order to validate the accuracy of the developed program, various numerical simulations are carried out and these results are analyzed and compared with previously published calculations and experiments.

  • This study is intended to know what is the legal problems to settlement and public announcement of property right for construction of marine architectural building in Korea. Firstly, the situation and the prospect around marine architectural building are examined Secondly, the legal concepts of marine architectural building and the application of related laws are analyzed. Thirdly, the problems related to public announcement of property right of marine architectural building are suggested. Fourthly, some improvement schemes to solve the legal problems in relation with property right of buildings on the water at sea and ocean are proposed. As the conclusion, the marine architectural building can be divided into fixed-type and floating-type in order to find the proper way to handle the public announcement of property right for that sort of building. The fixed-typecan be registered as real estate according to the Building Law through the amendment of the existing related laws. But for the registration of floating-type building a new law should be made. In the near future, improvements on the legal system related with the settlement of property right of marine architectural building should be made, so that private sectors can join construction and operation of the building. Especially a new law for the floating-type marine architectural building should be made as soon as possible.

  • 대형 시추구조물의 건조는 보통 드라이도크에서 하거나, 해양에서 선체와 데크를 접합하는 방법을 사용한다. 그러나 적당한 해양 접합장소가 없거나 드라이도크의 공간부족으로 현대중공업에서는 드라이도크나 해양에서의 접합건조 대신 부유식 시추구조물을 지상에서 조립하는 방법을 채택하게 되었다. 현대중공업에서는 세 가지 단계를 통해 지상 데크조립을 수행하였다. 첫 번째는 네 개의 철골구조 리프팅타워 상에서 유압리프팅시스템을 이용하여 데크를 지상으로부터 38m 들어올린다. 두 번째는 마찰을 줄이기 위해 윤활제가 칠해진 합성 플라스틱으로 싸인 미끄럼틀(Skidway)을 이용하여 두 개의 6000톤 짜리 하부구조를 데크 아래로 끌어 들인다. 마지막 단계로 데크와 하부구조를 단단히 결합시킨다. 이 과정에 2주일이 소요되었으며 일련의 작업을 거쳐 중량 25,500톤급의 Deepwater Nautilus (RBS-8M) 시추선을 무사히 바다 위로 인도하였다. RBS-8M의 데크결합에 Super Lift를 적용하여 성공시킨 사례를 통해 현대중공업의 초대형 시추구조물 건조방식이 이상적이고, 작업 공기나 원가 측면에서 우위가 있음을 시사하고 있으며 이렇게 건조작업의 대부분을 지상에서 수행한 과정을 통해 작업관리, 품질관리, 일정관리에도 좋은 결과를 가져올 수 있었다.

  • 티타늄은 높은 비강도로 알려지고 있어 항공기산업이나 군사산업에 주로 사용된다고 생각하기 쉽다. 그러나 해수와 같은 염화물이온을 함유한 수용액에 대해서는 뛰어난 내식성을 나타내며, 해양토목과 조선관계자는 초 내식성재료로 반영구적인 내구성을 갖는 재료로 보고 있다. 일반적인 페인트 방식법은 일정기간 후에 다시 칠해야 하는데다, 박리된 도료가 환경에 미치는 악영향도 염려되고 있다. 따라서 다시 칠하는 것이 곤란한 초대형 해양 부유구조물에는 티타늄이 매우 효과적인 것으로 기대할 수 있다. 그러나 티타늄은 광석을 제련하여 금속티타늄으로 제조하는 염화 환원공정이 곤란하고 고가여서 선체나 매우 큰 부유식의 해양구조물에는 보급되지 못했다. 따라서 티타늄재료를 선체 등의 구조재로 사용하지 않고 염가의 강판위에 도금하여 내식성을 향상시키는 방법을 생각할 수 있다. 또 해양구조물에 한정하지 않고, 대형 공공시설의 지붕재료나 해수담수화 설비, 화학플랜트 배관에 응용을 기대할 수 있고, 보급이 진전되면 스테인리스제품을 대체할 수도 있다. 티타늄의 평활전해석출 도금기술은 표면처리공학에서 최대의 새로운 개척분야인 것으로 사료된다. 본고에서는 티타늄의 평활피막전해석출 결과와 문제점에 대하여 기술하였다.

Hydroelastic Responses for a Very Large Floating Structure with a Breakwater (방파제를 고려한 초대형 부유식 해양구조물의 응답)

  • In this paper, elastic responses of a floating structure in waves with a breakwater are presented. The method of source-dipole distribution is used to analyze the velocity potentials for the fluid region. The deflections of structure are expanded approximately in terms of natural mode functions of free-free beam. The model for present calculation is a floating plate with an length of 1000m and the hydroelastic responses for a floating structure with a straight breakwater are shown. The effects of distance between breakwater and structure, bending rigidity and relative length of regular waves are examined.

Numerical Analysis of Four Circular Columns in Square Array and Wave Interaction (파랑과 정사각형 배열의 원형 기둥 구조물의 상호작용 수치해석)

  • Accurate prediction of wave-structure interactions is important in the safety and design cost effectiveness of fixed and floating offshore structures exposed to extreme environmental conditions. In this study, regular waves and circular column structure interactions for four circular columns in regular waves are analyzed. To simulate 3D two-phase flow, open source computational fluid dynamics libraries, called OpenFOAM, were used. When the four circular columns are arranged in a square array, the interactions according to the incident slopes of the regular waves are analyzed. The wave run-up in the circular column surface was compared according to the slope of the incident wave. It was confirmed that high amplitude waves are generated between the circular columns due to the interaction between the circular column and the incident wave. It is expected that this analytical result will be used as the basic data of the study on the air gap due to the interaction between the structure and incident wave.

  • 본 고에서는 대형 복합플랜트에 대한 외력작용의 극소화의 구조물 주변해역의 환경개선 및 친수공간 기능 극대화를 위한 해역정온의 기술에 대해 소개하고자 한다. 해역제어구조물의 종류와 각각의 기능적 특성을 정리하고, 국내외의 개발현화을 살펴보며, 핵심 요소기술을 고찰함으로써 대형 복합플랜트 개발을 비롯한 새로운 해역 어용 및 개발에 필요한 해역정온화를 위한 제어구조물의 개발 방향을 논의하고자 한다.

  • The flaring system of FPSO burns out the byproduct natural gas. The thermal loading due to radiative heat of flaring gas leads to undesirable thermal-stresses on itself. Nowadays it needs to understand the amount of thermal loading of flaring system since the requirement for the safety of the flaring system. However, few studies have been performed on the thermal environment and radiative heat flux on the FPSO flaring system. Present study suggests a procedure to model the thermal environment and a FEA process to analyze the temperature distribution and thermal stresses of FPSO flaring system. In order to get the temperature distribution, the radiative heat conditions and convective heat conditions are included in the heat transfer analysis. By making the use of temperature obtained through heat transfer analysis, the thermal stress analyses are performed. The results of the present study can be used to design the flaring system and determine the heat shield in the flaring system.
