  • Recently great efforts and investment have been made in order to evaluate concrete durability by steel corrosion. But most of study is relatively or qualitatively estimated, therefore it has a great limitation in evaluating a remaining service life of concrete. In this research, steel corrosion rate was measured quantitatively by polarization resistance method and multi-regressed considering chloride, carbonation, coverage depth, relative humidity, W/C, and the use of deicing salts. And a half cell potential method was used at th same time for the purpose of comparing with polarization resistance method.

Variation of Half Cell Potential Measurement in Concrete with Different Properties and Anti-Corrosive Condition (콘크리트 특성에 따른 반전위 측정값의 변화와 부식제어 조건)

  • Half Cell Potential (HPC) technique has been widely adopted for its quantitative evaluation of corrosion possibility. In this study, RC specimens with three different cover depths (10mm, 30mm, and 60mm) and w/c ratios (0.35, 0.55, and 0.70) are prepared and accelerated salt spray test (SST) is performed for 45 days. Steel corrosion occurs in the specimens with 0.55 of w/c and 10mm of cover depth. In the case of 0.70 of w/c and 30mm of cover depth, steel corrosion is also monitored. Considering the effect of cover depth and w/c ratio, HCP evaluation equation is proposed and the condition which can control steel corrosion is obtained. Furthermore, anti-corrosive conditions containing w/c ratio and cover depth are analyzed through Life 365 program and the conditions are compared with the results from this study.

  • 상수관망은 충분한 양질의 수돗물을 공급하기 위한 사회기반 시설물이다. 상수관로의 노후화, 누수 등은 수도 사고 발생의 가능성을 증가시키고, 수돗물 안전성에 대한 신뢰도를 감소시킨다. 수돗물 공급 전 과정을 인공지능(AI), 정보통신기술(ICT)과 결합한 지능형 상수도관 예측 및 관리 시스템을 구축하여, 상수도 수질 사고를 조기에 감지하고 사전에 취약지점을 예측할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해서는 상수관로의 위험도를 평가하기 위한 체계적인 데이터와 기준이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 상수관로의 위험도 예측모델을 개발하기 위해 상수관로 위험도와 관련된 평가 인자를 선정하고 분류하였으며, 각 인자의 명확한 기준을 제시하였다. 국내·외 상수도 위험도 평가 항목에 대한 자료를 비교 및 분석하였고, 전문가 자문을 통해 인자를 정립하여 상수관로 위험도 평가 지표를 개발하였다. 개발된 평가 지표의 현장 적용성과 실효성 검증을 위해 정량적인 데이터 확보가 가능하고 상태를 평가할 수 있는 대상 지역을 선정하였다. 문헌 자료의 평가항목들과 전문가 의견을 바탕으로 상수관로 위험도 평가 인자를 31개의 직접 인자와 5개의 간접 인자로 구분하였고, 인자별 평가 기준을 제시하였다. 직접 인자는 노후화 정도를 파악할 수 있는 노후도 평가 항목, 지역 특성을 반영한 토양 부식성 항목, 실시간으로 측정하여 결과를 제공하는 실시간 계측 항목, 직접적인 수질 결과를 제공하는 정수장 수질 항목, 상수관로의 건전성을 평가하는 자산관리 항목으로 분류하였다. 추후, 위험도 평가 운용을 위한 알고리즘을 개발하면 상수도 사고 위험에 대한 예방 및 대응 전략을 수립할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Technical Application and Analysis for Reduction of Water Loss in Water Distribution Systems (상수도 관망의 유수율 제고 기술의 적용 및 분석)

  • Non-revenue water reduction(NRW) technologies are implemented to evaluate and manage leakages scientifically in water distribution systems under local governments. A development of quantitative leakage indicator by measuring minimum night flow, pressure control policy by installation of PRV(pressure reducing valve) and the establishment of leakage prevention schemes by residual life modeling of deteriorated water pipes are reviewed and studied. Estimation models of allowable leakage are developed by measuring and analyzing minimum night flow at residential and commercial area in Nonsan city, which is suggested from UK water industry and can improve an existing leakage indicator for the evaluation of non-revenue water. Also, pressure control method is applied and analyzed to Uti distribution area in Sacheon city in the operation aspect. As results, $466\;m^3/day$ of leakage can be reduced and it is expected that 113million won of annual cost can be saved. In the part of corrosion velocity and residual life assessment, non-linear prediction models of residual thickness are proposed by assessment of corrosion velocity based on exposure years, soil and water quality etc., since the deteriorated water pipe play a major role to increase leakage. It is expected that collection data and analyzing results can be applied effectively and positively to reduce non-revenue water by accumulating surveying data and verifying the results in the business field of water distribution systems under local governments.

Evaluation of Deterioration Propagation Life of Steel Bridge Paints According to Surface Treatment Methods and Heavy-Duty Painting Types (표면처리방법에 따른 강교용 일반중방식도장계의 열화진행수명 평가)

  • In this study, to evaluate deterioration propagation life and deterioration curve of the shop painted and field re-painted steel bridges, accelerated corrosion tests were carried out on 4 types of heavy-duty painting systems with different surface treatments. The surface treatments prior to painting were examined by hand tool(SSPC SP-2), power tool(SP-3,) or blast cleaning(SP-10) considering shop painting and field re-painting. The paint deterioration curves for each painting system and surface treatment were evaluated based on corrosion propagation from the initial paint defects. From the test results, the paint deterioration life of shop painted and field re-painted system was evaluated and compared by using corrosivity categories and durability performance evaluation of structural steel. The deterioration propagation life of shop and field paint was estimated in 18 to 21 years and 5.3 to 8.0 years with atmospheric corrosion category C4.

Risk Reduction Rate for Each Risk Mitigation Measure on High Pressure Urban Gas Pipelines Proposed by Quantitative Risk Analysis (정량적 위험성 평가를 통해 제안된 도시가스 고압배관의 위험경감조치별 위험감소효과)

  • After conducting QRA(quantitative risk assessment) for the high pressure urban gas pipelines planned to be installed, RMMs(risk mitigation measures) when the societal risk is outside the acceptable region have been derived in this paper. Also risk reduction rates are calculated for each RMM. As a result of QRA, we find out that damaged distance caused by radiational heat is largely dependent upon the wind velocity and the atmospheric stability. The measure that has the highest risk reduction effect is No. 10 which includes pipeline corrosion monitoring, MOV(motor operated valve) installation and the method to protect pipeline damage caused by third-party mechanical interference, and which shows 75 % of risk reduction effect.

  • 최근 우리나라는 과거에 비해 기후변화 등의 사유로 가뭄과 홍수가 증가하는 추세에 있으며, '90년대에 들어서는 대규모의 홍수와 극심한 가뭄이 거의 매년 되풀이 되고 있어 지역간 물수급·공급의 불균형이 심각하여 국민이 활용가능한 수자원확보량과 공급가능량이 많은 차이를 보이고 있다. 기후패턴 변화 및 지속적인 용수수요 증가로 인해 가뭄 발생 위험이 커지고 있으나, 신규 수자원개발은 지역갈등 유발 등 사회적 여건에 따라 불가하므로, 기존댐을 평가하고 효율적으로 활용한다는 것은 기존 수자원을 최대한 활용하여 그 가치를 재조명하고 감춰져 있는 수자원을 다시 찾아내어 활용한다는 점에서 큰 의미가 있다. 허나, 댐 용수공급 안정성을 재평가하기 위한 그간 수많은 노력이 이루어지고 있으나, 용수공급 안정성(이수안전도) 기준은 댐 건설 당시 시대적 여건 등에 따라 다르게 적용되어 표준화된 기준이 전무한 실정이다. 이에 따라 국민의 물이용 보장 등 수요자 입장을 고려한 댐별 표준화된 이수안전도 기준 마련이 시급하다고 판단되며, 본 과업을 통해 댐마다 달리 적용된 이수 안전도를 개선하여 형평성을 고려한 국민 물이용 보장 등을 구현할 수 있는 댐 이수안전도 표준화 및 개선방안을 도출하고자 한다. 표준화된 기준을 통하여 신규댐 설계, 기존댐 평가, 갈수 대책용량 결정 등과 관련하여 용수공급 능력 평가 시 혼란을 사전에 예방하고, 본 연구에서는 수자원 시스템의 용수공급 안정성(이수안전도)을 평가하고 표준화 방안을 마련하기 위한 정량적이고 객관적인 지표를 개발하였고 이를 댐설계 기준 등 국가계획에 반영하여 지침 화할 수 있는 방안을 연구하였다.

  • For the enhancement of ECT reliability on the primary water stress corrosion cracks of nuclear steam generator tubes, of which the occurrence is on the increase, it is important to comprehend the signal characteristics on crack morphology and to select an appropriate probe type. In this paper, the sizing accuracy and the detectability for the inner wall axial cracks of tubes were quantitatively evaluated using the following specimens: the electric discharge machined notches and the corrosion cracks which were developed on the operating steam generator tubes. The difference of eddy current signal characteristics between pancake and axial coil were also Investigated. The results obtained from this study provide a useful information for more precise evaluation on the inner wall axial tracks oi stram generator tubes.

Changing HCP of Tendon in Wet Soil Considering Local Position and Chloride Concentrations (습윤모래 조건에서 염화물 농도에 따른 텐던의 위치별 HCP의 변화)

  • PS(Prestressed) tendons are under high tensile stress and have a smaller concrete cover than RC(Reinforced Concrete) member, so that the more conservative specifications on corrosion have been proposed for PS member. In this study, three levels of chloride concentrations(0.0 mol/l, 0.125 mol/l, and 0.25 mol/l) were prepared for evaluating the corrosion behavior in different position of 7 strand wires. For accelerating corrosion and measuring the corrosion amount in tendon, the tendon was embedded in partially saturated soil, and HCP(Half Cell Potential) was measured from the soil surface. During the test period of 28 weeks, HCP was measured every two weeks and the corrosion weight in the tendon was measured at 16 and 28 weeks of test period. Through the test, HCP result in tendon increased as the wires were located toward bottom due to high saturation. HCP in the lowest wire position showed an increase by 5.92 % compared to that in top position in 0.25 mol/l condition. The lower the position of the wire contained more saturation, which yielded increasing corrosion amount and HCP in tendon. In addition, the relation between corrosion weight and chloride concentration was quantitatively obtained through regression analysis.

Relationship between the Tidal Range in Sea Level and Damage of Domestic Port Facility (해수면 조위차와 항만시설물의 손상과의 관계 분석)

  • In this study, a basic research was conducted to establish a maintenance plan considering the environmental factors and deterioration characteristics of port facilities. The precise safety diagnosis reports for Incheon and Busan port facilities were referenced to examine the extent of deterioration and damage. The relationship with the degradation environmental assessment presented in the current guidelines was also analyzed. The analysis of the damage level of Incheon and Busan port facilities revealed that Incheon Port exhibited approximately three times higher damage rate compared to Busan Port. In the case of Incheon Port, reinforcement corrosion and external damage showed similar proportions, while in Busan Port, reinforcement corrosion had a higher proportion compared to external damage. On the other hand, when comparing with the degradation environmental assessment presented in the guidelines, it was found that there were some limitations in performing quantitative evaluation based on the guidelines for assessing port facilities. Therefore, an analysis based on tidal range was conducted by referring to existing literature. The analysis of tidal range in Incheon and Busan regions showed that Incheon had approximately five times higher difference compared to Busan. It is considered that this can be utilized as a differentiated item from existing degradation environmental assessment criteria.
