Fretting is a potential degradation mechanism of structural components and equipments exposed to various environments and loading conditions. The fretting degradation, for example, can be observed in equipments of nuclear, fossil as well as petroleum chemical plants exposed to special environments and loading conditions. It is well known that a cast stainless steel(CF8M) used in a primary reactor coolant(RCS) degrades seriously when that material is exposed to temperature range ken $290^{\circ}C{\sim}390^{\circ}C$ for long period. This degradation can be resulted into a catastrophical failure of components. In the present paper, the characteristics of the fretting fatigue are investigated using the artificially aged CF8M specimen. The specimen of CF8M are prepared by an artificially accelerated aging technique holding 1800hr at $430^{\circ}C$ respectively. Through the investigations, the simple fatigue endurance limit of the virgin specimen is not altered from that obtained from the fatigue tests imposed the fretting fatigue. The similar tests are performed using the degraded specimen. The results are not changed from those of the virgin specimen. The significant effects of fretting fatigue imposed on both virgin and degraded specimen on the fatigue strength are not found.

In this study, a numerical approach for evaluating the resisting capacity of a partial concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) column is introduced. By strengthening the plastic hinge part of a traditional reinforced concrete column with a steel tube, a partial CFST shows a similar bending moment capacity as that of a full CFST column but with reduced material cost. To conduct an elaborate numerical analysis of a partial CFST column, an improved bond-slip model is applied to a finite element (FE) model at the interface between the steel tube and in-filled concrete. This numerical model is verified through the results of a double curvature bending-compression test. A parametric study with the proposed numerical model is used to obtain the load moment interaction diagrams for evaluating the resisting capacity based on various dimensions. Finally, the required strengthening length is estimated for each degree of thickness of the steel tube, and the failure mechanism of the partial CFST column based on the dimensions of the steel tube are identified.

This paper deals with a numerical model for the time-dependent analysis of steel and concrete composite beams with partial shear connection. A linear partial interaction theory is adopted in formulation of structural slip behavior, and the effect of concrete creep and shrinkage are considered. The proposed model is effective in simulating the slip behavior, combined with concrete creep and shrinkage, of multi-span continuous composite beams. Finally, correlation studies and several parameter studies are conducted with the objective to establish the validity of the proposed model.

A numerical model to simulate bond-slip behavior of composite beam bridges is introduced in this paper. Assuming a linear bond stress-slip relation along the interface between the slab and girder, the slip behavior is implemented into a finite element formulation. Adopting the introduced model, the slip behavior can be taken account even in a beam element which is composed of both end nodes only. Governing equation of the slip behavior, based on the linear partial interaction theory, can be determined from the force equilibrium and a constant curvature distribution across the section of a composite beam. Since the governing equation for the slip behavior requires the moment values at both end nodes, the piecewise linear distribution of the constant bending moment in an element is assumed. Analysis results by the model are compared with numerical results and experimental values, and load-displacement relations of composite beams were then evaluated to verify the validity of the proposed model.

This paper presents a hysteretic damage model for reinforced concrete (RC) joints that explicitly accounts for the bond-slip between the reinforcing bars and the surrounding concrete. A frame element whose displacement fields for the concrete and the reinforcing bars are different to permit slip is developed. From the fiber section concept, compatibility equations for concrete, rebar, and bond are defined. Modification of the hysteretic stress-strain curve of steel is conducted for partial unloading and reloading conditions. Local bond stress-slip relations for monotonic loads are updated at each slip reversal according to the damage factor. The numerical applications of the reinforcing bar embedded in the confined concrete block, the RC column anchored in the foundation, and the RC beam-column subassemblage validate the model accuracy and show how including the effects of bond-slip leads to a good assessment of the amount of energy dissipation during loading histories.

Presently, composite method for steel and concrete is often used the stud. Steel properties of composite column could be changed by increasing of welding. The changed properties is possibly to cause local-buckling. Composite column had a large effect by slip instead of pull-out force in comparison composite girder. Improvement of adhesive force had effect by contact area rather than height of stud in composite column. This paper proposed new type of stud and analyzed performance through experimental study. This method would be effect steel structure with curvature.
This study investigated the effects of a shear slip on the deflection of steel-concretecomposite beams with partial shear interaction. Under the guidance of various current design codes, this deflection was related to the strength of shear connectors in the composite beams. In this paper, a shear connector stiffness based on exact solutions, regardless of loading conditions, was developed. The equivalent rigidity of composite beams that considered three different loading types was first derived, based on equilibrium and curvature compatibility, from which a general formula accounting for slips was developed. To validate this approach, the predicted maximum deflection under the proposed method was compared against currently used equations to calculate beam effective stiffness (AISC)Nie's equations, which have recently been proposed. For typical beams that were used in practice, shear slips might result in stiffness reduction of up to 18% for short-span beams. For full composite sections, the effective section modulus with the AISC specifications was larger than that of the present study, which meant that the specifications were not conservative. For partial composite sections, the AISC predictions were more conservative than those in the present study.

Fretting is a kind of surface degradation mechanism observed in mechanical components and structures. The fretting damage decreases in 50-70% of the plain fatigue strength. This may be observed in the fossil power plant and the nuclear power plant used in special environments and various loading conditions. The thermal degradation of material is observed when the heat resisting steel is exposed for long period time at the high temperature. In the present study, the degraded 1Cr-0.5Mo steel used for long period time at high temperature (about 515$^{\circ}C$) and artificially reheat-treated materials are prepared. These materials are used for evaluating an effect of thermal aging on the fretting fatigue behavior. Through the experiment, it is found that the fretting fatigue endurance limit of the reheat-treated 1Cr-0.5Mo steel decreased about 46% from the non-fretting fatigue endurance limit, while the fretting fatigue endurance limit of the degraded 1Cr-0.5Mo steel decreased about 53% from the non-fretting fatigue endurance limit. The maximum value of fatigue endurance limit difference is observed as 57%(244 MPa) between the fretting fatigue of degraded material and non-fretting fatigue of reheat-treated material. These results can be a basic data to a structural integrity evaluation of heat resisting steel considered to thermal degradation effect.
