Assessment of the Resistance Performance of Hull Appendages Attached to Fishing Vessels Using CFD (CFD에 의한 어선 선체 부가물의 저항성능 평가)

  • A variety of appendages are attached to coastal and offshore fishing boats to improve stability during navigation or fishing operations (stability performance and roll reduction). These appendages are generally classified into three types, which are shown in Fig. 1. The numerical calculations were conducted for the following eight cases: one case of a bare hull, three cases where a single appendage attached, three cases of a pair of appendages attached, and one case where all three appendages were attached. Table 1 presents the main dimensions of the bare hull and Table 2 describes the main dimensions of the three appendages. The fluid dynamic performance with regard to the three hull appendages was evaluated via CFD for the following cases: each of the appendages attached independently, a pair of appendages attached, and all three appendages attached simultaneously. The No. 1 appendage showed that pressure resistance was proportionally greater than friction resistances. Both Nos. 2 and 3 appendages showed comparable levels of pressure and friction resistances. The correlation between appendages was minimal in the case of pairs and Comparing the cases of the No. 2 appendage attached and all appendages attached, at 11 kn, the EHP showed an difference of 9 %.

  • 반도체 공정은 매우 복잡한 가스를 사용하기 때문에 여러가지 물질이 생성될 수 있다. 특히 플루오르계열 가스는 응축되어 부식성 물질로 변하여 펌프에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 이렇게 좋지 않은 조건을 만들지 않기 위해서 모든 가스들은 원래 상태로 이동하여 나오는 것이 가장 이상적이다. 그러나 챔버에서 반응하지않은 가스는 펌프로 오게 되면 온도와 압력이 달라져서 응축과 화학반응에 의해서 다른 부가물을 만들고, 이것들은 이러한 반도체 공정을 가능하게 하는 진공펌프에 영향을 주어서 고장을 일으킨다. 이러한 펌프에서 부가물을 채취하였다. 그리고 각 공정에서 생성되는 부가물을 분석하기 위하여 FT-IR, XRD, SEM(EDS), XRF분석법을 사용하였다. 이러한 분석법으로 부가물을 규명하고, 생성 원인을 규명하여 펌프의 성능 향상과 개선을 해보고자 한다.

  • 파랑 중 선수파의 영향을 줄이기 위해 도입된 Axe Bow선형은 파랑 중 항해 시 선수부에 과도한 Spray현상이 발생한다. 이를 억제하고자 선수 부가물이 도입되었으나, 수치해석적 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단하였다. 선수 부가물은 Spray rail에서 착안하였으며, 구현이 쉽고 설계 파라미터를 제시 할 수 있는 Barge형상으로 적용하였다. 본 연구에서는 선수 부가물의 길이 변화에 따른 Axe Bow 선형의 Spray 억제를 수치해석적으로 고찰하였다.

Study on the Free Roll Decay and Resistance Performances of Fishing Vessels by Varying Appendages (어선 부가물 별 자유 횡 동요 감쇠 및 저항성능에 관한 연구)

  • In the present study, free roll decay and resistance performances of fishing vessels were evaluated with the combinations and variations of in the parameters of appendages which are attached to improve motion performance of fishing vessels. Computational Ffluid Ddynamics was used to perform free roll decay and resistance analysis. The roll period and decay coefficient were derived by the variations in the combination and dimensions of the primary appendages of the bilge keel and the under keel. It was observed thatThe variations of in the length of the under keel did not significantly impact to the roll damping coefficient. Conversely, for the bilge keel, an increase in the length and angle resulted in an increase in the roll damping coefficient. Comparison of resistance performance was additionally assessed among the selected hulls with the appendages and bare hull. The resistance of the hull with the appendages was higher than that of the bare hull due owing to the changes of in the pressure on the surface of the hull and trim angle. Throughout the present study, the impact of appendage parameter and arrangement on the free roll decay and resistance performance of fishing vessels were was assessed,. which This will be beneficial for the application of appendages to fishing vessels.

  • In the present paper, viscous flow fields around a wigley hull with appendages are analysed to study interactions between the hull and appendages. Navier-Stokes and continuity equations are solved by a finite volume method in a body-fitted coordinate system which conforms three dimensional ship geometries with appendages. A Sub-Grid Scale(SGS) turbulent model is used for a calculation of high Reynolds number flow. Numerical computations has been done for a Wigley hull form at $Rn=1.0{\times}10^6$. The results show that the present approach can predict, at least in qualitative sense, the influence of the appendages upon the flow field around a ship.

  • The influence of different appendage shape on the characteristics of hydrodynamic forces on Manta-type Unmanned Undersea Test Vehicle(MUUTV) was discussed experimentally. Fuselage only MUUTV model and two types of MUUTV model with different appendage geometries were considered as the subject of discussion Oblique tow experiment was carried out in circulating water channel with three MUUTV models. A point of difference in hydrodynamic force characteristics among three models was indicated. Furthermore, the linear hydrodynamic derivatives obtained from model experiment were compared with theoretical calculation results from slender body theory, added mass theory and etc. Based on the hydrodynamic force characteristics, motion stability of two types of MUUTV model with different appendage geometries was compared each other. Through the above analysis, the more suitable shape of appendage geometry was made clear.

  • For the seismic design and analysis of LMR(liquid metal reactor) being developed in Korea, it is necessary to develop the simple seismic analysis model including the fluid-structure interaction effects. In this paper, the theoretical backgrounds for the fluid added mass of the immersed concentric cylinders are investigated and the seismic analysis code using the Runge-Kutta algorithm, which can consider the fluid added mass matrix in system matrix, are developed to perform the time history seismic analysis. Form the coupled modal analysis and the seismic analysis for the simple immersed concentric cylinders, it is verified that the fluid added mass significantly affect the vibration characteristics and the seismic responses. Therefore the fluid coupled effects should be carefully considered in seismic response analysis of the immersed concentric cylinders.

  • Eight kinds of poly(oxyethylene, oxyisopropylene) dodecyl ethers were synthesized by adding ethylene oxide and isopropylene oxide with each 5 and 10 moles alternatively on dodecanol. The addition of EO and PO for eight kinds of sodium poly(oxyethylene, oxyisopropylene) dodecyl ether sulfates was identified with HPLC, $^1H$ NMR, hydroxy value, and IR spectrum. In order to verify the sulfation the number of EO and PO molecules was obtained by spectra and Epton method. The yields of products sulfated by chlorosulfonic acid were 90~96%.

  • The adduct between phenylglyoxal and guanine was prepared. The structure of the adduct is similar to the glyoxal-guanine adduct. Aldehyde group of phenylglyoxal is added to 1-N of guanine base, and keto group is added to $N^2$ of guanine base. The structure of the adduct was determined by mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and periodate oxidation. Periodate oxidation produced $N^2$-benzoyl-guanine from the adduct. On the basis of these results, ittvhas been assigned the structure I. The adduct is stable in alkaline solution: It does not dissociate into phenylglyoxal and guanine even after 2 hours heating at$60^{\circ}C$ at pH 12. The adduct is soluble in acidic ethanol, and is slightly soluble in neutral or alkaline water. It has a lower $A_{280}/A_{260}$ ratio at pH 1 compared to that of guanine.
