Effect of Bee venom-Acupuncture Therapy on Patients with Sprain of the Wrist Joint (수근관절(手根關節) 염좌(捻挫)의 봉약침(峰藥鍼) 치료(治療) 효과(效果))

  • Objective : This study was to evaluate the effect of Bee venom-Acupuncture therapy on patients with sprain of the wrist. Methods : We investigated 31 cases of patients with sprain of the wrist. We flip a coin and divide patients into two groups. Bee venom-Acupuncture was performed at on group, and the other group we didn't do it. We evaluated the treatment effect of each group by using the visual analog scale(VAS). Results : 1. As a result of evaluation by using the VAS, the score after treatment was marked lower than that before treatment within each group. 2. After treatment, Bee venom-Acupuncture therapy group showed significant difference on visual analog scale(VAS) compared with acupuncture therapy group. Conclusion : These results suggested that Bee venom-Acupuncture treatment should be more effective in the patient with sprain of the Wrist joint.

  • Objective : This is a clinical report about allergic rhinitis patients. Method : The two patients were treated by Bee Venom Pharmacopuncture and needle acupuncture together from June 2007 to September 2007. Result : As using these treatments, all patients decreased in sneezing, rhinorrhea and nasal congestion notably. And further, all patients had no side effects. Conclusion : The results suggest that Bee Venom Pharmacopuncture and needle acupuncture have an useful effect on allergic rhinitis patients.

  • Objectives To evaluate the treatment effect of Bee-venom Acupuncture on Neck Pain by Traffic Accidents, which is well known for anti-inflammatory effect and function of activating immune system. Methods We investigated 33 cases of patients with Neck Pain by Traffic Accidents by soft tissue injury. One group was treated by Bee-venom Acupuncture therapy, the other group was treated by General Acupuncture therapy . We evaluated the treatment effect of each group by Treatment Days & Number of Times, Distribution of Clinical evaluation grade, Visual Analog Scale before and after Treatment.

The Clinical Observation of Immune Response by Korean Bee Venom Therapy (봉약침요법의 면역반응에 관한 임상적 연구)

  • The immune response of Bee Venom Therapy is commonly appear in clinics. It is whole body delayed allergy type and generally like fatigue. Therefore, in order to analysis the clinical form, we have observed immune response of 100 patients who visited Sangji University Oriental Medical Hospital and treated Bee Venom Therapy over 10 times from November 1998 to October 1999. The results were summarized as follows. 1. The distribution of Sex was 60 females, 40 males, and the average of patients age was $50.6{\pm}1.5years$. 2. The distribution of disease was degenerative arthritis, HIVD of L-spine, RA, etc. 3. The total treated time is 2765 and is observed 361 immume responses. 4. The average of keeping time in immume response is $11.8{\pm}0.6(hr)$, and the cases of over 24hrs is occupied 24.0%. 5. In the correlation between treated times and immume response is generally in inverse proportion. 6. The general aspect of immume response is chilling, heating, powerless, headache, dizziness, etc. 7. $M{\ddot{u}}ller$ Grade II-III was observed only 1%.

Effect of Intra-articular Bee Venom Injection on Acute Traumatic Arthritis of Elbow Joint : Two Cases Report (급성 외상성 주관절염에 대한 관절강내 봉약침 치험 2례)

  • Objectives : We got a good effect in two patients not by subcutaneous but by subcutaneous but by intra-articular bee venom injection treatments at traumatic arthritis of elbow joint, so report it. Methods : We used only intra-articular bee venom injection treatments at acute traumatic arthritis of elbow joint. After measured the VAS(visual analogue) and ROM(range of motion) of elbow joint, we bee venom injection effect. Results and Conclusions : The symptoms(swelling, pain) and the functions of elbow joint were quickly improved through intra-articular bee venom injection treatments. One case was improved that Rt. elbow joint flexion was increased from $60^{\circ}$ to $150^{\circ}$, extension was increased from $20^{\circ}$ to $0^{\circ}$. The other case was improved that Lt. elbow joint flexion was increased from $90^{\circ}$ to $150^{\circ}$, extension was increased from $30^{\circ}$ to $0^{\circ}$, and both were decreased in VAS. The results suggest that bee venom intra-articular injection has acute pain reduction, anti-inflammation effect.

Effect of Bee Venom Acupuncture Complex Therapy of Thoracolumbar Compression Fracture (흉(胸).요추압박골절(腰椎壓迫骨折)에 대한 봉약침(蜂藥鍼) 복합치료(複合治療) 효과(效果))

  • Methods : We investigated 28 cases of patients with thoracolumbar compression fracture. We divided patients into two groups : We treated one group with complex oriental medical treatment focusing on Bee Venom Acupuncture therapy, and did the other group with complex oriental medical treatment focusing on acupuncture therapy. To investigate the effectiveness of treatment applied for two groups, we used Visual Analog Scale(VAS) and Oswestry Low-back Pain Disability Index(ODI). We compared the VAS score and ODI score of two groups statistically. Results : 1. Female is prominent in distribution of sex, the average age bracket is 70's, and the largest group was Faccidental fall in the distribution of cause. 2. In regard to level of injury, T12 was found to be most prominent, followed in turn by L1, L2. In regard to grade of clinical symptoms, Grade III was most prominent, followed by Grade IV, Grade II. 3. As a result of evaluation by using VAS score and ODI score, treatment score at final was significantly different from that at the baseline in each group. 4. After treatment, Bee Venom acupuncture therapy group showed significant difference on VAS score and ODI score compared with acupuncture therapy group. Conclusions : Bee Venom acupuncture therapy can be available for relieving symptoms related with thoracolumbar compression fracture.

  • According to previous reports, intra-articular bee venom injection is very effective for synovitis, intra-articular lesions. In this article, we report 4 cases of well-treated meniscal tear with intra-articular bee venom injection. We used intra-articular bee venom injection on meniscal tear diagnosed by MR imaging and prescribed herbal medication, physiotherapy if necessary. Outcomes were measured by Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale. Patients who are treated by intra-articular bee venom injection had a significant effect on the pain reduction, improved range of motion and knee function. Further well-designed, controlled studies and more cases are needed to define the effect of intra-articular bee venom injection on knee.

  • Objectives : This study was to evaluate the effect of Bee venom-Acupuncture on knee joint with osteoarthritis. Methods : We investigated 30 cases of patients with osteoarthritis of knee joint. We flip a coin and divide into two groups. Bee venom-acupuncture was performed at one group, and the other group didn't do it. We evaluated the treatment effect of each group by using the WOMAC score. Results : 1. As a result of evaluation by using the WOMAC, the score after treatment was marked higher than that before treatment within each group. 2. After treatment, Bee venom-Acupuncture group showed significant difference on WOMAC score compared with acupuncture group. Conclusion : These results suggested that Bee venom-Acupuncture treatment should be more effective in the patient with osteoarthritis of knee joint.

  • Objectives : This study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Bee Venom acupuncture therapy on chronic arthritis of ankle, Methods : We divided chronic arthritis of ankle patient into 2 group; one group combined bee venom acupuncture therapy and acupuncture therapy, another group was only acupuncture therapy. To estimate the efficacy of treatment that applied for two groups, we used visual analog scale(VAS). We compared the VAS score of two groups statistically. Results : 1. As a result of evaluation by using visual analog scale(VAS), treatment score at final was marked more higher than score before treatment on each groups. 2. treatment at final, acupuncture and bee venom acupuncture therapy group had significant result on visual analog scale(VAS) compared with acupuncture therapy group. Conclusion : Bee Venom acupuncture therapy can be used with acupuncture therapy for highly effective treatment for chronic arthritis of ankle.

  • Objectives : This study was to investigate the effectiveness of Bee Venom Pharmacopuncture therapy at Yepung($TE_{17}$) on peripheral facial paralysis. Methods : We investigated 36cases of patients with Peripheral Facial Paralysis, and devided patients into two groups : We treated one group by complex oriental medical treatment with Bee Venom Pharmacopuncture therapy at local point with Yepung(VY), and did the other group by complex oriental medical treatment with Bee Venom pharmacopuncture therapy at local point without Yepung(VL). To evaluate the effectiveness of treatment applied for two groups, we used Gross Grading System of House-Brackmann(HB score), Yanagihara's Unweighed Grading System(Y score) at baseline and final. Results : 1. In VY and VL, compared with baseline, at final, HB score was significantly decreased and Y score was significantly increased. 2. At final, VY showed significant decrease on HB score and significant increase on Y score compared with VL. Conclusions : Bee Venom Pharmacopuncture therapy at Yepung can be available for relieving symptoms related with peripheral facial paralysis.
