  • Rubber related geosynthetics(GS) as reinforcement and water barrier materials were manufactured by thermal bonding method and examined the their performance for applications to civil and environmental engineering fields. The spunbonded polyester nonwoven, fiber glass mat and fabric type geogrid of a high tenacity polyester filament were used as matrix and polyester film, elastomeric bitumen with SBS polymer and asphalt were used as reinforcements to manufacture the rubber related geosynthetics. A fiber glass mat and geogrid matrix GS showed more excellent mechanical properties and nonwoven and elastomeric bitumen matrix showed the more excellent permittivity. Softening points of rubber and asphalt mixture showed no difference and dimensional stability at high temperature, $120^{\circ}C$, represented no significant shrinkage. Resistance to ultraviolet of rubber related geosynthetics showed no visible alteration.

  • A slicing method by thin diamond blade is widely usd slicing of hard and brittle materials such as ceramics, glass and ferrite etc.. In this study, a new slicing system which realizes highly efficient and mirror surface slicing was developed by applying ELID-grinding with metallic bond diamond blades and its performance was evaluated. Hard and brittle materials such as ceramics, glass and ferrite were used as workpiece. Metallic bond diamond blades with grit sizes #325 and #2000 were used. Experimental results show that highly efficient slicing and good mirror surface can be successfully obtained using the developed slicing system with ELID features.

  • This paper describes study on the preparation of ferrite powder for bonded mallets. The specimen which has the basic composition of SrO$.$nF$_2$O$_3$ with n=5.9 is in nonstoichiomatric region. Calcination is performed under N$_2$ atmosphere 1175$^{\circ}C$, 1200$^{\circ}C$, 1225$^{\circ}C$, 1250$^{\circ}C$ and 1275$^{\circ}C$ respectively. Then, Cooling is carried out in the furnace. In order to increase coecivity and obtain uniform grain size, we add to the specimen 0.7wt%CaCO$_3$, 0.3wt % SiO$_2$, 0.5wt%Na$_2$SiO$_3$ and 0.5wr% Al$_2$O$_3$. Also, in order to increase milling effect, carbon coating on sample particles is tried. As the result, single magnetic domain partic1e with Size of 1$\mu\textrm{m}$ in obtained and magnetic properties are improved.

  • High performance fiber reinforced cement composites have better performances than traditional cement based materials, therefore, have been expected as new construction applications such as the materials for construction & bridge structure, repair and rehabilitation applications, anti-collapse applications, anti-noise applications etc. However, they have lots of the problems such as material design, fabrication method and structural analysis. Also, the most serious problems of High performance fiber reinforced cement composites have been expensive initial cost, lack of long-term exposure data. As a result, it is needed that the efforts for lowering the initial cost and accumulation of long-term exposure. There has been hardly assessment results of life cycle cost for HPFRCC in construction field, but some papers showed that total life cycle cost could be profitable if the initial cost could be reduced.

  • In the past, the technology of strengthening structures using FRP composites was still in its infancy, with very few publications on the technology available. However, recently strengthening of Reinforced concrete (RC) and other structures using advanced fibre-reinforced polymer/plastic(FRP) composites has become very popular in the last few years. As the well-known advantages of FRP composites including both good corrosion resistence and ease for site handling due to their light weight, also its design methods have been ensured the safe and economic use of this new technology, FRPs have been used widely and demonstrated in the field of aero industries etc. The purpose of this paper is to report the examples of the many diverse applications of Fiber Reinforced Plastic in construction materials of structures.

  • The diamond wheel with superabrasive is required for mirror-like surface grinding of brittle materials. But the conventional dressing mothod can not apply to the diamond wheel with superabrasive. Recently electrolytic dressing method was developed for cast-iron bonded diamond wheel with superabrasive. This technique can take replace of lapping and polishing. Using the electrolytic dressing, the surface roughness of workpiece was improved largely and grinding force was very low and the continuity of the grinding force was also very improved. In this study, the purpose is the realization of mirror-like surface grinding of ferrite with electrolytic dressing of metal bonded diamond wheel. For application of ultraprecision grinding for brittle material, superabrasive wheel, air spindle and inprocess electrolytic dressing were used. In addition, the effects of pick current and pulse width on ground surface were investigated, and the suitable dressing conditions for ferrite were found out.

  • This study was carried out to obtain a basic data on the production of the Nd-Fe-B system rare earth anisotropic bonded magnet by R-D & HDDR process. The reduction reaction of Nd$_2$O$_3$by metallic Ca and the diffusion reaction of Nd into Fe-B alloy powder were investigated for the production the Nd-Fe-B alloy powder. We concluded that a proper quantity of metallic Ca was about 1.3 times of theoretical equivalent from the yields of Nd and B after the R-D reaction at 100$0^{\circ}C$ for 1h. In the XRD analysis the diffusion reaction of Nd into the center of Fe-B alloy powder for the completed homogenization was required through about 45min at 110$0^{\circ}C$ for the R-D reaction, and also the maximum efficiency on the yield of Nd was obtained with such a condition. Residual Ca and oxygen contents of the final powder sample after washing were detected in 0.17wt% and 0.42wt% by ICP and oxygen analyzer, respectively.

  • Application of ceramics, carbide, ferrite has grown considerably due to significant improvement in their mechanical properties such as light weight, chemical stability , super wear resistance and electronical. Despite these character, the me of advanced material has not increased because of poor machinability. The method of using of metal bond wheel was proposed. But it is difficult that metal bond wheel can be dressed. Recently, the technology of in-process electrolytic dressing is developed to solve this problem. This method need wheel for electrolytic dressing, power supply and electrolyte. But development of wheel for electrolytic dressing is the most need. The aim of this study is development of wheel for electrolytic and appraisement of CIB-diamond lapping wheel

  • Diamond wheels with fine grains and multi-porous structures are newely trial developed for smoothing and mirror finishing materials. Grinding wheel must have performed both to remove tool marks efficienitly and to contact elastically with curved surfaces, that are employed for ultra precision and high performance grinding of difficult-to materials such as tungsten carbide alloy using tool and die materials, Diamond grains are bonded by a melamine resin to prevent the decrease of machining efficiency due to grain sinking within the bond materials. Also, highly foamed structures are developed to increase the flexibility of the grinding wheel, and to induce self-sharpening by increasing contact pressure between the grinding wheel and workpiece surfaces. In this paper, melamine-bonded diamond wheels try to manufacture, then the forming method of grinding wheel are suggested, and the grinding characteristics of melamine-bonded diamond grinding wheel are also illustrated.
