  • In this paper, the thermal insulator structure of a real rocket which is fabricated in a way that laminated composite rings are connected in series is analyzed using 3-dimensional axisymmetric finite element models. Simulation of cowl zone using a real operating conditions provides that the stress distribution in the laminated composite ring is largely influenced by ply-angles, axial dimensions, and boundary conditions. Notably the plylift that is the precursor to the wedge-out occurs in the ring-to-ring bonding region. It is hypothesized that after the plylift the wedge is dropped out due to the shear stresses in the ply-angle direction and axial compressive stresses.

  • A reseach was peformed to develop composite pressure vessels in conjunction with design, fabrication, and test. Fiber pattern and angels were decided by CADFIL software and they were [$liner/15^{\circ}/15^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/18^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/21^{\circ}/21^{\circ}/90^{\circ}$]. Fabrication of bottles were done by 5-axis filament winding machine. During fabrication fiber optic sensors were embedded to measure the strain at points when internal pressure was applied by water pump. Conventional strain gage instrumentation showed the stable test results. The test results were compared to finite element analysis results and they were close each other in strain values. One can see the successful design and fabrication of single boss composite vessels.

  • CFRP is the composite material manufactured by the hybrid resin on the basis of carbon fiber. As this material has the high specific strength and the light weight, it has been widely used at various fields. Particularly, the unidirectional carbon fiber can be applied with the layer angle. CFRP made with layer angle has the strength higher than with no layer angle. In this paper, the property of crack growth due to each layer angle was investigated on the crack propagation and fracture behavior of the CFRP compact tension specimen due to the change of layer angle. The value of maximum stress is shown to be decreased and the crack propagation is slowed down as the layer angle is increased. But the limit according to the layer angle is shown as the stress is increased again from the base point of the layer angle of $60^{\circ}$. This study result is thought to be utilized with the data which verify the probability of fatigue fracture when the defect inside the structure at using CFRP of mechanical structure happens.

  • The use of composite materials for structural fasteners is increasingly common, making it crucial to assess the deformation of these fasteners under fatigue behavior. In this study, clamp-type fasteners were manufactured using carbon fiber reinforced composites, and their structural stability and sectional damage rates were evaluated using electrical resistance measurement during fatigue behavior. While clamp-type composite fasteners exhibited minimal deformation in flat sections, significant deformation occurred in the bent sections due to fatigue. It was observed that insufficient angular stability led to concentrated damage in the bent sections. The dynamic fatigue behavior showed that the length change rate of the composite fasteners was within 0.6%, but the angular change rate reached up to 6%, indicating that the bent sections are the most critical areas. By utilizing the self-sensing capability of the composite fasteners, sectional damage behavior was assessed through electrical resistance measurement. Significant damage was noted in the bent sections due to fatigue, and 3D-CT results revealed substantial deformation and interfacial damage when the initial bend angle of the fasteners was less than 90 degrees. These findings highlight the importance of reinforcing the stiffness of the bent sections and establishing systematic angular standards in the development of composite fasteners.

  • Interlaminar fracture toughness of carbon/epoxy composite materials has been studied under tensile and flexural loading by the use of width tapered double cantilever beam(WTDCB) and end notched flexure(ENF) specimens. This study has significantly examined the effect of various interfacial ply orientation, ${\alpha}(0^{\circ},\;45^{\circ}\;and\;90^{\circ})$ and crack propagation direction, ${\theta}(0^{\circ},\;15^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}\;and\;45^{\circ})$ in terms of critical strain energy release rate through experiments. Twelve differently layered laminates were investigated. The data reduction for evaluating the fracture energy is based on compliance method and beam theory. Beam theory is used to analyze the effect of crack propagation direction. The geometry and lay-up sequence of specimens are considered various conditions such as skewness parameter, beam volume, and so on. The results show that the fiber bridging occurred due to the non-midplane crack propagation and causes the difference of fracture energy evaluated by both methods. For safer and more reliable composite structures, we obtain the optimal stacking sequence from initial fracture energy in each mode.

  • The Purpose of this study is analysis characteristic of grasping power with each different shoulder horizontal angle. Twenty female university students with no shoulder dysfuction participated subject in three different positions of shoulder horizontal flexion with standing posture, shoulder 0° flexion, elbow 90° flexion, forearm 90° pronation, different positions is followed : shoulder 0° horizontal adduction shoulder 40° horizontal adduction, shoulder 40° horizontal abduction. The One-way repeated ANOVA test was used to determine the different in grip strength on three shoulder horizontal positions. On the average, in the hand grip strength, the horizontal neutral position is higher than horizontal adduction position with significant value. In particular, shoulder horizontal aduction was measured lowest grip strength between three positions.

  • As composite is the light weight material whose durability and mechanical property are more superior than the existing general material. By taking notice of the composite with light weight, this study was about to investigate the static fracture characteristic of the bonded CFRP structure jointed with adhesive. Also, CFRP double cantilever beam with the variable of laminate angle was designed and the static fracture analysis was carried out. The laminate angles of CFRP double cantilever beam designed for this study were $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$ individually. As the study result, the specimen with the laminate angle of $45^{\circ}$ was shown to have the durability better than those with the layer angles of $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$. It was checked that the specimen with the laminate angle of $30^{\circ}$ had the weakest durability among all specimens. The damage data of the bonded CFRP structure by laminate angle could be secured through this study result. As the damage data of bonded interface obtained on the basis of this study result are utilized, the esthetic sense can be shown by being grafted onto the machine or structure at real life.

  • Applications of advanced composite material in construction field are tending upwards and development of all composite material bridges is making progress rapidly in home and abroad due to their high strength to weight ratio. This paper formulated the dynamic responses of the laminated composite structures subjected to moving load and analyzed the various dynamic behaviors using the finite element method. The nondimensionalized natural frequencies of a simply supported square-laminated composite plate are considered for verifications. Mode superposition and Newmark direct integration method are applied for moving load analysis. For structural models, dynamic magnification factor calculated for various velocities of the moving load and displacements characteristics of laminated composite structures due to the moving load are investigated theoretically Numerical results are presented to study the effects of lamination scheme, stacking sequence, and fiber angle for laminated composite structures during moving load. The various results on moving load and lamination through numerical analysis will present an important basic data for development and grasp the behavior of all composite material bridges.
