A Study on Walking Safety Satisfaction according to Vulnerable Pedestrians' Access to Public Facilities (교통약자의 공공시설 접근성에 따른 보행안전 만족도 연구)

  • This study empirically analyzes the effect of pedestrians' personal and household characteristics and accessibility to public facilities on a walking safety satisfaction (WSS) level. The aim is to find ways to improve vulnerable pedestrians' WSS level and contribute to the creation of an inclusive urban environment. As a result of the analysis, age and gender variables were important for elderly people, and education was an important factor for disabled people. The WSS level was impacted by the factors of single-person households, income, and residential areas. In the case of accessibility to public facilities, the greater the satisfaction with accessibility to public institutions, urban parks and green areas, and public transport, the greater the WSS for the elderly and the disabled. And, the greater the satisfaction with accessibility to commercial facilities, the greater the WSS was for the elderly's WSS. However, the satisfaction with access to medical facilities was the opposite in the case of the elderly.

  • 본 논문은 보행자 머리 상해치 예측을 통해 보행자 보호 법규의 만족여부를 판단하는 시스템을 구축 하는데 있다. 차량의 FE DATA와 더미 DATA를 입력하고, MADYMO solver를 이용하여 해석을 수행한다. 이를 통해 나온 결과 HIC(머리상해치)와 보행자 보호 법규에서 제시하는 HIC(머리상해치)와 비교를 통해 만족여부를 판단한다. 강화되는 보행자 보호 법규를 만족시키기 위해 차량시스템을 개선을 유도 하고 이를 통해 차량 대 보행자 사고 시 보행자의 생명을 구하는데 그 궁극적인 목적이 있다.

  • In recent urban policies, the importance of 'health' has increased significantly. In Korea, the deterioration of physical health due to environmental problems caused by rapid urbanization and the deterioration of mental health due to the disconnection of social relations in a competitive society are constantly occurring. this study aims to examine the effect of the satisfaction and safety recognition on pedestrian environment on the subjective health status focused on gender difference of the intermediating effect of social capital. I used 2018 Seoul Survey and employed Structural Equation Model multi-group analysis. According to the empirical analysis, in male groups, the satisfaction and safety recognition on the pedestrian environment affect social capital. Also, satisfaction and social capital affect subjective health status. On the other hand, in female group, perception of pedestrian environment affect social capital. In addition, satisfaction, safety recognition and social capital affect subjective health status. Therefore, interdisciplinary study in the field of health and urban policy and discriminatory policy for strategic urban policy for citizen's health is necessary.

A Study on Level of Service of Sidewalk and Satisfaction of Pedestrian (보도의 서비스수준과 보행자 만족도에 대한 연구)

  • This paper analyzed and compared the service level and satisfaction of the sidewalks in collector roads from 6 different location, which has a lot of volume of pedestrians. For the study, it performed an investigation of road geometry, flow, research about satisfaction of walking and video recording. Based on this data, this study computed the service level of the sidewalks and pedestrian satisfaction. This study made a sense of correlation between service level and satisfaction. Also it focused on factors influencing on the effectiveness of satisfaction. This study also analyzed the change of walking behavior chracteristics according to the change of the level of satisfaction. This study adopted Multi-Modal Level of Service(MMLOS) method, because it could consider more factors. This study reached the conclusion that MMLOS method cannot completely reflect the level of pedestrian satisfaction. We have to consider more factors than in the current system for use in the development of sidewalk design. The result of this study is expected to reflect the pedestrian satisfaction in future sidewalks design.

Edge Camera based C-ITS Pedestrian Collision Avoidance Warning System (엣지 카메라 기반 C-ITS 보행자 충돌방지 경고 시스템)

  • The prevention of pedestrian accidents in crosswalks and intersections is very important. The C-ITS services provide a warning service for preventing accidents between cars and pedestrians. In the current pedestrian collision prevention warning service according to the C-ITS standard, however, it is difficult to provide real-time service because it detects pedestrians from a video-analysis server in the control center and sends service messages through the ITS system. This paper proposes a pedestrian collision-prevention warning system that detects pedestrians in the local field using an edge camera and sends a warning message directly to the driver through a roadside unit. An evaluation showed that the proposed system could deliver the pedestrian collision prevention-warning message to the driver satisfying the delay time within the 300 ms required by the C-ITS standard, even in the worst case.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to derive improvements through user satisfaction analysis for the smart traffic safety system being applied to improve traffic safety. Method: A survey-based IPA analysis was used to derive system and service improvements for groups of drivers and pedestrians. Result: As a result of the analysis, both drivers and pedestrian groups showed that Quadrant 1(Keep up the Good Work) was 'Perception of risk information', and Quadrant 3(Low Priority) was 'Reliability of warning information'. On the other hand, 'AI display suitability', which was analyzed as Quadrant 1(Keep up the Good Work) in the driver group, was found to be Quadrant 3(Low priority) in the pedestrian group. Conclusion: Satisfaction factors for smart pedestrian safety systems may vary depending on users, and it is judged that user-centered system construction and service provision are necessary.

A Study of Improvement on Pedestrian Level of Service by Pedestrian Satisfaction - Focused on Lower Floor Building Use in Seoul - (보행만족도에 따른 보행서비스수준 지표개선 - 서울시 저층부 용도를 대상으로 -)

  • The main purpose of this study is to discriminate the pedestrian environment by simple calculation such as using the matrix from pedestrian level of service. However, the general use of pedestrian level of service cannot discriminate the environment of footpaths, especially in Seoul. Most of the passages in Seoul are showing level A, which means most passages are spacious, but pedestrians don't agree that passages are wide enough to walk. In conclusion, comparing the pedestrian level of service with pedestrian satisfaction in different circumstances such as use of building in lower floors. Test areas are 1,157 spots in Seoul. First, The new pedestrian level of service shows equally in all spots. Second, spots where the highest pedestrian satisfaction are mostly in level B or level C, thus planning the walkways in future, level B or level C is recommended in most cases.

  • The importance of bumper system lies not only in the styling of vehicles, but also in the protection of vehicles and pedestrians from reasonable impact. In this study, we proceed to search a method for efficient bumper system without using the impact test and the computer simulation to analyze the bumper system. In the process of the research, we proposed the each method that is used to search the shape that satisfy each regulations in first, because bumper's dimensions to satisfy 'vehicle protection' regulations and form's dimensions to satisfy ‘pedestrian protection' regulations are difficult to exist together. After that we proposed the calculate method and design algorithm that is used to search a reasonable point satisfying the two regulations together.

Effects of the Education about the Self-application of the Kinesio-Taping for the Adult Women with Chronic Low Back Pain on Pain, Satisfaction and Gait (키네시오 테이핑 자가적용 교육이 만성요통 성인 여성들의 통증, 만족도 및 보행에 미치는 영향)

  • We aimed to analyze the effects of Kinesio-Taping on pain, satisfaction, and gait, and to provide basic data on the self-application of this method. The participants were 30 adult women with chronic low back pain. Kinesio-Taping was applied for 2 weeks, followed by 4 weeks of self-application education and self-application. The participants' pain levels were analyzed using the visual analog scale, satisfaction was analyzed using the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure, and gait was analyzed in terms of stride length, step length, step width, and gait time using the Walkway MG-1000 gait analyzer. The results of the pain showed the statistically significant decrease steadily (p<0.001) and the results of the satisfaction showed the statistically significant increase steadily (p<0.001) from the application of the Kinesio-Taping. Also, according to the In-Object verification between pre-test, taping application (after 2 weeks) and Self-application (after 4 weeks), the results of the satisfaction showed statistically significant difference (p<0.001). According to the gait analysis, the results of the stride length and step length showed the statistically significant increase steadily (p<0.001) and the results of the step width and gait time showed the statistically significant decrease steadily (p<0.001) from the application of the Kinesio-Taping. Also, according to the In-Object verification between pre-test, taping application (after 2 weeks) and Self-application (after 4 weeks), the results of the step width showed statistically significant difference (p<0.001). Thus, the self-application education about the Kinesio-Taping should be considered to reduce the pain and improve the performance level of the activities of daily life through the improvement of the self-management ability and to induce the active participation in the self-management activities and increase the satisfaction.

Analysis of Lower Extremity Muscle Force Variations during the Gait Cycle with Optimization Method (보행 시 하지근육 역할에 대한 최적화 기법적 해석)

  • A mathematical model of human gait was developed to calculate the muscle forces of the lower extremity during walking. The musculoskeletal model consisted of 7 segments and 16 lower extremity muscles. The muscle forces variation during the gait calculated with optimization technique showed a good agreement with previously reported experimental results, mostly EMG variation. Moreover, the resulting joint torques matched well with those from the kinematic data and the inverse dynamics.
